Mega stick 528 firmware problem

i have updated my 528 to .16 f/w, and now only recognizes 290 songs. I´ve tried returning to the .13 f/w but i can´t. i´ve tried with the old driver 1.548 but the same.
Anybody knows what to do???

did you use the correct firmware file for your MegaStick 528, as there are two different variations?

Mega Stick 528 don´t turn on.

I have a Mega Stick 528 out of guarantee :( , and it has the this problem, it doesn´t turn on, unless I flash it, when I put the player another firmware, newer or older it works, but when I´m going to turn it on the second time, it doesn´t turno on, it´s so strange, it just works 2 times after I flash it. I´m from Argentina, and in my city there is no service, or a computer shop where I can fix it, and obviously is a soft problem, or that´s what I think.

i have the same problem, it doesn't turn on at all.
i changed the batteries but no good.
the screen only turns on when i connect it to my pc, the pc recognize it is attached, but displays no mass storage drives.
the icon only appears for a second and then disappears and cannot be accessed.
the screen on the mega stick turnes on while it is connected to the computer, and stating "connected".
but it doesn't turn on, and i can't access the information stored on it.
i have no idea what you meant by flashing it, or i would try that myself just to rescue my recordings...

Mega Stick 511 USB2 problem

The USB2 doesn’t work, I try it in 5 different computers, I update the driver’s and Firmware, it is broke??? I buy it a day ago!

4. My (slow) hard disk will read at around 30 Mbyte/s
5. A really good hard disk on a fast PC will read at around 130 MByte/s
The real problem I have is that MSI are marketing their USB2.0 device as if it's a decent speed, whereas it's only slightly faster than USB1.1. It takes me 23 minutes to fill it up, which is way too long.
Anyone else finding their Megastick any faster?
After upgrading my firmware to 3.000.006 I have got the same problem I get the 'This device can perform faster' message' but this was not the case before the firmware upgrade when I had 2.0. Also with the old firmware I did almost filled my stick and I didn't timed it but I think it could take about 10 minutes.
I have the MSI MEGA Stick 511 - Lite, 256M and it has no FM radio. Should I then not use the firmware listed as wothout FM?

MEGA STICK 520 Firmware update?

Hi, well I´been searching and reading this forum for quite some time and I haven´t found answers to this questions and I though that maybe someone did, so here it is:
I own a MEGA STICK 520 and I found a firmware update MS5520v0.2.0_FW.zip (2005-8-17) but I want to know exactly what does it changes, so if someone did the update, what does it do? And did you have any problems installing it? because I´ve read too many threads about players dying or allmost.
Is it the first firmware update? cause aparently for what i´ve read a lot of firmware with problems were solved with new versions.

Ps: sorry for my english, i´m from argentina. and please don´t answer me "just do it man!", because it cost me a lot of money and i can´t afford to kill it. I have two good reasons for doing the update, it´s really annoying that the player starts reproducing an album in the middle when it is prefectly organiced (in fact if you go manually to the first track it will play perfectly fine), and that the volume increases exponentialy.

The latest firmware feature is more little bug, thus please update the latest F/W (v0.2.0)!!
Update items is as follows:
1. Fixed bug: When manage “playlist” and power off, after power on “playlist” will be disorder.
2. Fixed bug: The file name will be cut under “playlist” mode.
3. Fixed bug: When didn’t use a long time, the screen wasn’t display.
Please do according to firmware update procedure of the following:
Mega stick firmware update process:

Mega player 538 firmware problem

Hi! I just bought Mega Player MS5538 with LCD, without radio.
I updated the firmware to v.1.11.03 and now I don't have option to use voice recording.
Can you tell me what to do to restore that option because it's really important to me.
Original firmware was v.1.10..... I don't know exactly. Can you send it to me or give me a link to download.

The firmware should be on the CD that came with the unit. You would flash that firmware the same as you did the one you downloaded and flashed already.
You can also use the product link at the top of the forum, to find all firmware for your unit.

Mega Stick 1 128mb - Problem :(

Hi all!
I'm italian, so i'm sorry for my bad english.
Here's my problem:
When i switch on my player, it read the title of the first song he found, then if i click any button, it do nothing!
it only understand when i block the use of the buttons, displaying the icon of "LOCKED".
I'm new of those things, i formatted it using windows xp, and also with the utility i found on the cdrom. Also how described on the manual, but still having this problem..
Please tell me how to do things in particular, because i'm new of this things.

It give to me some error at the beginning, but not fatals error, it work the same on my hard disks. But in the list i cannot find my mp3, just my 2 hard disks.
I'm using win Xp home edition () and i connected my stick like the usually, not like the ReadMe said, pressing the play button for 5 seconds.
How must i connect it? Maybe the problems i got is for the Os i have. What do you used? (OS)
That program says to me that partition table is not accessible.. is it normal?

Please tell me how to put the neck strap into the device!!!!! Do not know how to do it, I can not use it properly, can not find the place to insert the thing!!! Please help me soon!!!!

When you take the battery cover away, you will see only one screw, this location can extend to put net strap!!

Mega Stick 511 problem

I've just bought a Mega Stick 511 and right now it's making me want to do this . I'm running Windows Xp (although the manual seems to be for 98se users) and everytime I go to the device manager to look for the driver Player Recovery Device Class, it's not there although this- MSI MS-5511 USB Device- is listed under disk drives. I've downloaded the updated firmware and drivers from the MSI website and I'm following each step but this just keeps throwing me for a loop. I don't think it's a connection problem because the LCD screen on the player shows that it's connected. So if anyone out there has any clue how to fix this and then proceed to tell me how to actually load MP3 files onto it (because even that I'm sure I will stuff up), please please help me.

Mega stick FM recording

Hi everyone!,
Yesterday I´ve bought a Mega Stick 1 (firmware 2.04).
What i like most from mega stick 1 was the posibility
to record FM radio stations.
Radio reception its not as good as I spected , of course,
now its digital sound pretty much high quality than my
old radio (sony). I strech the earphone wire and had
better reception (as the FAQ suggest).
I recorded about 40 minutes of music with 44.1 mhz
quality . When I wanted to listen what it had recorded
I found that the sound sounded dirty, like dirty one or
lined CD of music. It was not cause bad reception, its
something wrong on Mega Stick record algorithm.
Thast anyone has a clue of what wen wrong?

Yeah... it's doesn't record at that rate; even if you set it to...
I also though it would record the radio at the same quality you are listening it if you set a rate high enough... but it didn't; don't know why.

Mega stick firmware problem

i had the mega stick 511 with the firmware version 2 and i updated it to version 3 and it stop working. now when i plug it into the pc it won't even detect it or recognize it to undo the updated version 3. what can i do so it will detect it, once it detected it as smp3 device but when i tried to undo the updated version it appeared an error window. what can i do?!?!?!

FINALLY, THE SOLUTION
I have a brand new Megastick 511 USB 2.0 without FM, and I could get version 3.x firmware update done.
My PC config is...
ABit KV8 Pro Motherboard,
512MB kingston RAM,
Athlon64 2800+,
OS Win XP SP2 with every single update released,
but frankly, I don't believe this problem has anything to do with machine configuration, USB or OS issues. It's merely a question of doing the right thing. Of course, I'm assuming your USB is really 2.0 and you downloaded the right firmware and unzipped it to the MS-5511 folder, as stated in the manual.
Ok, folks. After having this very same problem for a few days, I finally figured it out. Yeah, I wanted this playlist feature this bad, and it's worth the price.
Problems were...
1- Device was not recognized as a USB 2.0 device, no matter the USB motherboard drivers were installed;
2- As soon version 3.x firmware updates were done, I got the old 'deadbrick' effect - oh, yeah, no lights or sounds out of the brand new player - which could be reversed with the old firmware, the one supplied with the CD.
What I did to have the playlist feature was...
1- Took the battery OUT;
2- Using the cable supplied, I pressed and held the play/pause button and kept it pressed until procedure was completed;
3- Inserted the cable in a USB;
4- Windows showed the old 'hey, this device could be faster, blah, blah' message - just ignore it, as I did!
5- Go to the MSI MS511 MEGA STICK Update program;
6- This is very important... at this point, it would be nice if the software could recognize the device, but IT DOESN'T! You will get a message saying 'Media state not started' or something like this after quite a while waiting. This mean it won't show your current firmware version! Once again, ignore it!
7- Well, since the 'start' button was there, I clicked on it, AND I WAS AMAZED TO SEE THE UPDATE BEING DONE! Ok, I didn't wanted to format the device, as it was full of good music, but even unchecking the format option, the software keep saying this had to be done in order to upgrade the firmware - a fair price;
8- As all the copying and writing and verifying processes were done, I knew procedure was over, as the new 3.x firmware version was showing, and I could finally copy more tunes into my 511-now-with-playlist device! Only at this point I released the play/pause button.
Now, when I connect the 511 to the PC, Windows continues saying the device could be faster, but the Update software recognizes it immediatly! And for 512MB of stuff, it takes around 12min to transfer - as it did before - just in case you wanted to know.

I love this stick, so I didn't give up to find a solution. With SP 1&2 it freezed when there is data communication. Now it's gone how?:

Actually i am having this problem also. Msi mega 256mb mega stick is not compatible with abit mobo NF7-s as i had tried to use it with other computers which is using nf7-s mobo also. But it comes to normal when i plug it into my my housemate computer which is not using nf7-s mobo. I am wondering of how to solve this problem for long long time already. Can anyone tell me how to solve it? Even i had updated the firmware to the newest but the problems still occur.

Problem with Mega Stick 1 Menus

I am facing a strange problem with Mega Stick 1.
I press the 'Jog Dial' menu button to access the menus. I do see all the sub menus but when I press the jog Dial again to go into the sub menu my Mega Stick takes me back to the mail menu. So basically I cannot go into any sub menu.
I upgraded the firmware of Mega Stick and the sub menus worked only once after the upgradation and after that the sub menues stopped working again.
Anyone has any clue what is wrong and how can I fix it???/

MSI mega stick 128 Shut down problem

I have a problem , I have a MSI mega stick 128 and fron a litle time it has started tu Shut down or restart rondomley. At first it hapend from time to time but now it hapends 20 times a day . It is realy enoig. If yu have an ideea PLS tel me what to do . (I changed the firmware from the original to new versions but it didn't help .) Is there any hope left ?? I am desperate . USB (Mega stick), sound output and PS2 problems

The MSI MEGA STICK do not work with the MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR.
When you plug it, its recognized, you can write on the MEGA STICK, delete files but cannot READ from MEGA STICK. It freezes while display "reading". I have tried on lots of PCs. Only my MSI motherboard do not work properly. The same problem with my 2 MEGA STICK. And i had tried Windows XP and Linux. Same problem. Others USB devices works fine. Even card readers...

My optical wireless mouse do not works properly. When i turns on the computer, it works ok. If i restart, do not work. Restart again, works. And go on... Only this mouse. Others MB works fine.
==Sound Output==
And also with my sound output. The eletrical one (coaxial).
It do not work with my 5.1 home system. It works fine with my old SB Live. It gets worse when i use my tv output from my Radeon 9100. It only works SOMETIMES when the tv output is not plugged in.

No. It Freezes before being able to update. Also the update do not tell about solving this problem

you do know that windows xp does not come with usb2 drivers.
sp1 does and you have to install them yourself.
go to device manager and delete all usb entries and reboot and windows will install the usb2 drivers next time you boot.
if you get a slipstreamed version of xp you dont need to do this as it installed usb2 drivers rightaway.
slipstream means a xp disc with sp1 on it.
My XP cd is already SP1. Also tried on BIOS to use only USB 1.1V

Its a brazilian brend. You wont know. CCE. Its works fine with DVDs, my old SB Live! and others. Only with my K7N2 do not work properly. Its an AC3 decoder. The problem gets worse when i use the Radeon 9100 tv out.

When i updated the BIOS, it got even worse. Not even with the tv output unplugged it never worked anymore...
Its very disapointed to buy an expensive MB and realized that it do not work properly...

Mega Stick 128: Update Firmware The Says Locked

I've got a Mega Stick 128, i got it about 2months ago, i can't return it coz it was a present from my aunty in malaysia and i live in australia. now i recently formated by mistake with the windows formatting program, now it says media error. I went to the MSI website and then updated my firmware on it with the program, it now says LOCKED on the LCD when i turn it on. this then shuts down, i've tried updating the firmware even with both versions. i really annoying, i can't find an answer for this can you?

You need to give MSI support 24-92 hours for email replies and maybe longer if support in your country is currently overworked. also please check you have got the right email address at MSI- you need Tech Support not Sales.
