  • K8n neo2 running with 260 FSB ?

    Hi !
    Well, I have one question about the FSB and Multi settings.
    first, my sys:
    -K8N Neo2 Platinum
    -AMD64 3500+ winchester
    -OCZ 2x512 DDR (PC 3500 - 433Mhz) Ram
    -2x S-ATA HDD Hitachi 160GB @ Sata 3&4
    -550W PS
    So, with some tests, I can found the fastest CPU-freq @ 2600Mhz with 1,58V VCore - testing with Prime95.
    But I want the fastest clock for the rams, too.  The Ram works with FSB 217, DDR200-setting in BIOS. Multi 11x. very well at 217Mhz...
    first settings:
    FSB @ 237 / Multi @ 11x / HT @ 4x / Ram set to DDR166.
    So the effective CPU-clock is 2604Mhz, the ram is at 186 Mhz.
    The setting works fine... but with very poor ram-clock...
    (I had to set the ram to DDR166, because with DDR200-Setting the clock will be 237 which is too high and I can´t boot. )
    2nd setting:
    FSB @ 248 / Multi @10.5 / HT @4x / Ram set to DDR166.
    The setting works fine... The Mobo shows a ram-clock of 208Mhz. The Tool "Clock-Gen" shows a ram-clock of 200Mhz...(I dont´know which is right...?) But: The Ram-Clock can ba 217Mhz, I guess..?
    3rd setting:
    FSB @ 260 / Multi @10 / HT @3x / Ram set to DDR166.
    This setting crashes up while booting.... normally, I think, the CPU-clock will be 2600 (which will work), the RAM will divided down to 217 Mhz.
    Now my prob: the CPU runs with 2604 Mhz, the RAM runs with 217Mhz - but why can´t I set the FSB to 260 and Multi 10x ?? PS: the system ist still crashing, when I set the Multi to 10x and try FSB to 250Mhz... ?
    Does anyone know ??
    Many thanks !
    A.

    Just so you know, when you use dividers, your memory performance is only as good as the lowest setting. For example, I you have a system with ddr333 memory and a CPU with a 333mhz FSB your memory performance is as follows:
    Memory Peformance:
    133CPU x 133mem = 166CPU x 133mem
    CPU performance:
    133CPU x 133mem
    As opposed to:
    Memory Peformance:
    133CPU x 166mem CPU performance:
    133CPU x 166mem
    The Kicker:
    Memory Performance (first versus second):
    133CPU x 133mem 166CPU x 133mem CPU Performance (first versus second):
    133CPU x 133mem 166CPU x 133mem
    I neglected to try overall combined performance like 3dmark01/03/05 but I was on a time budget at the time and only concerned with running a 4:5 divider as opposed to a 4:4 divider which my results gave me no increase (but no decrease either).
    Therefore, you get no increase in memory performance when using dividers. I used sandra to verify this. I simply used my CPU and RAM in every different configuration I could think of and then ran it and recorded the results. Hopefully I remembered my results correctly.
    Yes, you will see a CPU increase with dividers but you will not see a memory increase.
    The Kicker Reiterated:
    CPU Performance:
    (133 CPU x 133 mem
    Personally I think you should be happy with an FSB of 248 because that means your memory frequency is 198.4mhz which means you nearly have ddr400. How much of an increase do you think you'll see with 260FSB (208mhz memory frequency (increase of 9.6 mhz))? Personally I think you should be happy with 248 with a 5:4 divider.
    ORRRRRRRR:
    try benchmarking with a 216FSB x 11mult x 4htt with DDR200 versus 248 x 10mult x 4 htt with DDR166 and see which is faster. You'll do better on the first with memory and better on CPU with the second but the inverse will be the inverse. Then I would do an overall benchmark like 3dmark03/05 and see which had the best overall effect (I'm guessing it will be a somewhat close call but I never tried that... hmmm... something to try now).

  • SharePoint 2010, Visual Studio 2010, Packaging a solution - The specified path, file name, or both are too long. The fully qualified file name must be less than 260 characters, and the directory name must be less than 248 characters.

    Hi,
    I have a solution that used to contain one SharePoint 2010 project. The project is named along the following lines:
    <Company>.<Product>.SharePoint - let's call it Project1 for future reference. It contains a number of features which have been named according
    to their purpose, some are reasonably long and the paths fairly deep. As far as I am concerned we are using sensible namespaces and these reflect our company policy of "doing things properly".
    I first encountered the following error message when packaging the aforementioned SharePoint project into a wsp:
    "The specified path, file name, or both are too long. The fully qualified file name must be less than 260 characters, and the directory name must be less than 248 characters."
    I went through a great deal of pain in trying to rename the project, shorten feature names and namespaces etc... until I got it working. I then went about gradually
    renaming everything until eventually I had what I started with, and it all worked. So I was none the wiser...not ideal, but I needed to get on and had tight delivery timelines.
    Recently we wanted to add another SharePoint project so that we could move some of our core functinality out into a separate SharePoint solution - e.g. custom workflow
    error logging. So we created another project in Visual Studio called:
    <Company>.<Product>.SharePoint.<Subsystem> - let's call it Project2 for future reference
    And this is when the error has come back and bitten me! The scenario is now as follows:
    1. project1 packages and deploys successfully with long feature names and deep paths.
    2. project2 does not package and has no features in it at all. The project2 name is 13 characters longer than project1
    I am convinced this is a bug with Visual Studio and/or the Package MSBuild target. Why? Let me explain my findings so far:
    1. By doing the following I can get project2 to package
    In Visual Studio 2010 show all files of project2, delete the obj, bin, pkg, pkgobj folders.
    Clean the solution
    Shut down Visual Studio 2010
    Open Visual Studio 2010
    Rebuild the solution
    Package the project2
    et voila the package is generated!
    This demonstrates that the package error message is in fact inaccurate and that it can create the package, it just needs a little help, since Visual Studio seems to
    no longer be hanging onto something.
    Clearly this is fine for a small time project, but try doing this in an environment where we use Continuous Integration, Unit Testing and automatic deployment of SharePoint
    solutions on a Build Server using automated builds.
    2. I have created another project3 which has a ludicrously long name, this packages fine and also has no features contained within it.
    3. I have looked at the length of the path under the pkg folder for project1 and it is large in comparison to the one that is generated for project2, that is when it
    does successfully package using the method outlined in 1. above. This is strange since project1 packages and project2 does not.
    4. If I attempt to add project2 to my command line build using MSBuild then it fails to package and when I then open up Visual Studio and attempt to package project2
    from the Visual Studio UI then it fails with the path too long error message, until I go through the steps outlined in 1. above to get it to package.
    5. DebugView shows nothing useful during the build and packaging of the project.
    6. The error seems to occur in
    CreateSharePointProjectService target called at line 365 of
    Microsoft.VisualStudio.SharePoint.targetsCurrently I am at a loss to work out why this is happening? My next task is to delete
    project2 completely and recreate it and introduce it into my Visual Studio solution.
    Microsoft, can you confirm whether this is a known issue and whether others have encountered this issue? Is it resolved in a hotfix?
    Anybody else, can you confirm whether you have come up with a solution to this issue? When I mean a solution I mean one that does not mean that I have to rename my namespaces,
    project etc... and is actually workable in a meaningful Visual Studio solution.

    Hi
    Yes, I thought I had fixed this my moving my solution from the usual documents  to
    c:\v2010\projectsOverflow\DetailedProjectTimeline
    This builds ok, but when I come to package I get the lovely error:
    Error 2 The specified path, file name, or both are too long. The fully qualified file name must be less than 260 characters, and the directory name must be less than 248 characters. C:\VS2010\ProjectsOverflow\DetailedProjectTimeline\VisualDetailedProjectTimelineWebPart\Features\Feature1\Feature1.feature VisualDetailedProjectTimeline
    Now, the error seems to be related to
    Can anyone suggest what might be causing this. Probably some path in an XML file somewhere. Here is my prime suspect!
    <metaData>
    <type name="VisualDetailedProjectTimelineWebPart.VisualProjectTimelineWebPart.VisualProjectTimeline, $SharePoint.Project.AssemblyFullName$" />
    <importErrorMessage>$Resources:core,ImportErrorMessage;</importErrorMessage>
    </metaData>

    <property name="Title" type="string">VisualProjectTimelineWebPart</property>
    <property name="Description" type="string">My Visual WebPart</property>
    </properties>
    </data>
    </webPart>
    </webParts>
    .... Unless I can solve this I will have to remove the project and recreate but with simple paths. Tho I will be none the wiser if I come across this again.

  • How to make 260 gtx 55nm VRM custom heat sink

    Warning: This will void your warranty
    The caveat above added by Mike, Forum Administrator
    How to Create a Custom 260 GTX 55nm VRM Heat Sink
    Introduction:  This guide was created to show how you can make a custom VRM heat sink from the stock heat sink to be used with an aftermarket cooler.
    Reason:  Many aftermarket companies, such as Thermalright and Arctic, fail to provide a good VRM heat sink for the 55nm 200 series GTX’s.  The solution often involves poorly sticking thermal tape or no solution at all, such as the Arctic cooler, which states it’s ok to leave the 260 GTX 55nm VRM chips uncovered.  To leave the VRM chipset uncovered maybe ok for stock clocked cards but what about an over clocked card or an enthusiast trying to push the performance envelope?  That is after all, what these aftermarket cooling solutions are all about; especially the Arctic cooler which can cool up to 250 watts!  Fortunately the solution is very easy and should take you no more than 10 to 15 minutes to address.
    Use:  To create a custom made VRM heat sink to be used with an aftermarket cooling solution such as the Arctic cooler and Thermalright cooler.
    Tools:
    Dremel, with metal cutting wheel and sanding wheel.
    Thermal Pads, which you can buy in sheets from any performance pc store and should be 1.0 mm in thickness.
    Philips Screw Driver, very small size would be ideal.
    Before we begin I’d like to remind you that removing or tampering with the stock heat sink will more than likely void your warranty.  This guide was also constructed assuming an aftermarket cooler will be installed.  The card used in this guide is a MSI 260 GTX 55nm with reference PCB design (REV 1)  but will also work with other 200 series GTX cards.  When working on any electronic device, always make sure you are well grounded!!!
    Step 1:  Remove the screws with the springs only from the back side of the graphics card as shown in figure 1A.  There is a total of 13 spring screws that need to be removed.  Check to make sure that your card does not have two small additional securing screws which are located on the exhaust side of your graphics card with your DVI ports.  If your card does contain these additional screws, remove them before continuing on to step 2.
    Step 2:  Gently work the card from the heat sink.  NOTE: Do NOT force or pry heavily, you will damage your card.  It may take a little caressing depending on how much poor quality thermal putty was used from the manufacturer.
    Step 3:  Remove the fan power connector from the fan power port as shown in figure 2A.
    Step 4:  Remove and discard all the old thermal pads.  You should never re-use thermal pads and especially not the low quality manufacturer ones!  NOTE: keep in mind the location of the VRM thermal pads since you will be making replacements.
    Step 5:  Clean off the voltage regulator chips with a tissue or with a soft eraser as instructed by Arctic.  Personally I use a tissue very lightly dipped in alcohol to clean the surface of the chips.  The voltage regulator chips for the 260 GTX 55nm are shown in figure 3A.  NOTE: I will not be covering the cleaning of the GPU or Ram since it does not pertain to the VRM heat sink.
    Step 6:  Flip the heat sink so you are looking at the bottom where the thermal pads were attached.  There are 6 very little screws which need to be removed from the assembly.  Figure 4A shows the location of the screws attaching the plastic shroud assembly.  Once they are removed gently pry the plastic shroud off and set it aside.
    Step 7:  Now turn the heat sink over and remove the 4 black screws from the top side of the heat sink.  The fan should come off freely and set that aside as well.  Your heat sink should look like figure 5A.
    Step 8:  Now we are ready to begin cutting the stock heat sink.  With a sharpie draw a black as shown in figure 6A.  This will give you a marker to follow when cutting.
    Step 9:  Attach the metal cutting wheel to the dremel and begin cutting across the black line.  Danger: ALWAYS wear eye protection when cutting a metal object or any object.  The metal is very soft and not much force is needed to cut it.  Try not to damage the mounting holes when cutting (figure 6A).  You may need to lightly sand the cut edge depending on how rough or jagged it is after cutting.  When you’re done you should have a piece as shown in figure 7A.  This will be your VRM heat sink.  Important: MAKE SURE you clean the heat sink well and remove all metal particles.  Also allow the heat sink to dry well before installing!!
    Step 10: Next cut the new thermal pads to the shape of your VRM chips.  It should look like figure 8A when you are finished.
    Step 11:  Gently place the heat sink into place and attach the screws.  When you are done it should look like figure 9A.
    Congratulations on your custom made VRM heat sink.  The great thing is that it never has the risk of falling off, such as thermal taped ones, and can be removed and installed as many times as you wish.  It also does not contain thermal adhesives which also do not facilitate removal as well.  The stock spring screws will also insure secure contact between the VRM chips and the sink.  The custom heat sink comes with nicely built in fins and much better cooling performance then individual dinky VRM heat sinks provided from the Arctic or Thermalright coolers.
    p.s. It is possible to put old heat sink back on the card since each section has its own mounting screws but I would not recommend this unless absolutely necessary.

    I'm running a corsair 750 watt PSU
    Q660
    Gigabyte g31 motherboard
    1TB WD Hard drive
    OCZ 1066mhz of ram
    And I recently swapped the lighting with a gtx 260 and see what would happen in the same system. The GTX260 ran games smoothly, and would run furmark fine with the newest nvidia drivers. Swap back the gtx 275 lightning, and games are really slow and choppy especially when you add any kind of AA. The FPS is literally cut in half when I switched to the msi gtx 275. I think it's safe to say that the GTX275 is defective.

    Did anyone came across such issue while deploying Orchard on Azure with TF service? If yes, how did you sort this freaking error?
    Thanks,
    Altaf B.

    Hi AltafB,
    For your situation, you can short the path for the source code. Or use a short path for build agent folder in your build definition. You can refer to the links below to solve your problem:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/aaronhallberg/archive/2007/06/20/team-build-and-260-character-paths.aspx

    Besides, since you deploy Orchard to Azure, you can also publish it directly using publish profile in Visual Stduio or WebMatrix directly.

  • Mercury playback is always greyed out in Quadro FX 4800 + GTX 260

    Hi guys,
    As the title mentioned above, I have two cards installed on Win 7 64-bits. The Quadro FX 4800 is for main video card, and the GTX 260 is for the Physx only. I tried to manully assign the Physx to FX 4800 but it didn't work. Could you guys please advise me what should I do? Thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
    Margirbee

    If you have the Nvidia 258.xx or higher Nvidia drivers, then there is a CUDA GPU listing under manage 3D settings. There is a global selection and individual application setting for that. The default setting for that is all GPU's. Select that under the Global and uncheck the 260 GPU. That should fix the problem.

  • I got this message when trying to install this Add-on (radio-australia_toolbar-2.7.2.0-fx.xpi) "Signing could not be verified. -260". It was on your webb site so it should be OK and is there any way arround it?

    I received this message while trying to install this Add-on, "Signing could not be verified. -260". Is there any way I can get it to install? Since it was listed on your site I would think it would be relatively safe to try out! Thanks for any help you might be able to give me.

    cor-el, thanks for the feedback. I tried deleting the META-INF folder as you suggested and tried installing it. It appeared to install but once Firefox was restarted it did not show up in the Add-on's list. I then tried leaving the folder there but deleting the "zigbert.rsa" file as it seemed to be the one with the signing or verification information and that maybe the other two files had information necessary for the install. Once again it appeared to install but it did not show up in the Add-on's list. I have to assume from this that it did not install. Thanks for your help but I guess I'll just have to pass on this Add-on and not worry about it. Thank you so much for your assistsance! If there is anything else I can try I will but otherwise I am happy to just forget about it.

  • Is Photoshop CC a scam? I paid $260. for a one year membership. activated at register and now they want $50 a month to use the system.

    This is my first time, can someone answer my question?
    What was the $260 for?  Why do I have to pay more money to get Photoshop CC?

    If you purchased a one year subscription for the price you mention then that is all you will need to pay for it.  It is possible you downoloaded the wrong file for initiating the subscription.  If you contact Adobe support they should be able to help you work thru this.  Since it is the weekend you might have to wait to get their attention.

  • Bit Rate 256 in iTunes 7.4.2 comes out different, 255, 260, 257, etc

    I have a 2.1 GHz G5 iMac 20" with 1.5GB of ram. I installed Leopard with the upgrade method. I have notice with iTunes 7.4.2 that I get bit rates different from 256, which iTunes is set to. I checked other imported CDs that I encoded when I was in Tiger, all are 256. Now with two CDs so far, I get 255, 260, 257, etc. Just slightly off 256. Wondering if you could check this out or post for other to check with their machines. Thanks for your help.

    Thanks for the replies and everyones help. All the new songs imported are around 256, not one is 256. The music sounds fine that I imported. Will see what Apple might do or have to say if they decide to look into it. Smart Playlist would be affected if by "Bit Rate".

  • IMac 20" with only 260,000 colors?

    A German online magazine just reported (http://www.spiegel.de/netzwelt/tech/0,1518,544580,00.html) that the iMac 20" model can only display 260,000 colors due to a different TFT technology compared to the 24" model.
    I am rather irratated as I wanted to buy a new iMac 20" model soon, and the Apple store says that even the 20" modell could display millions of colors.
    Does onyone had the chance to compare both displays side by side for example at editing photos? The article says, serious and professional photo editing would not be possible with the 20" model.

    pEst31 wrote:
    That's a good point, and that's why I hope I'll be able to live with it.
    However, Apple advertises that even if you use it for photo editing, everything will look great on the iMac screens. They don't specify like you did that it's not for serious and professional photo editing, they just say photo editing. So if I want to edit photos professionally, that makes it sound like I can! Especially since all the other tech specs are more than enough!!!
    On top of that they advertise both screens as having millions of colours, so on this particular point, Apple has no defence if the 20" iMac has only thousands.
    Of course the majority of LCDs used with PCs are the same lower spec panels; but at least their users can choose to upgrade.
    The comments at AppleInsider on last weeks settlement were interesting reading. I.e. actually a display only shows shades of Red, Green and Blue and uses separation to trick your eyes into seeing other colour:

    I don't have any gradient that I can perceive on my iMac 24".
    cheers!

  • Idvd 6 won't play 1-260 photo's burned only 1-99

    I had made a slide show with IDVD 6 and have about 260 photo's on it. After the movie is burned from IDVD, I play it on the home player and it stops at photo 99 and stop as there is nothing else to play. It play on the MAC but pauses at 99 and then continues. I'VE TRYED MANY BURNES BUT THE SAME HAPPENS!!!!!!!! In project info it says TRACKS 3 of 99 and MENUS 1 of 99. All I want is for it to play from beginning to the end. WHAT IS HAPPENING AND WHAT DO I DO TO FIX THIS?????????? PLEASE HELP!!!!
    imac g5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Slides in a slideshow created by iDVD are treated as Chapters and only 99 Chapters per Track are allowed. Prior to iDVD 6, iDVD could only produce slideshows with 99 slides (the Chapter limitation). In iDVD 6 Apple created a 'hack that makes it possible to link together many 99 slide slideshows into a longer presentation.
    The PROBLEM is that many DVD players don't like the 'hack' and will freeze or pause after 99 slides.
    You have two choices: go to a 'big-box' store that has lots of DVD players on display and try your DVD to see which players will play past the 99th slide and then buy that player, or create a slideshow as a movie in iMovie.

  • How to list long file names and paths longer than 260 characters in vbscript?

    Hi there,
                   I have looked in different posts and forums, but couldn't find an answer to my question.
    So, here it is... imagine the small piece of code attached below. I need to be able to iterate and rename recursively (I didn't include the recursive part of the code in order to keep things simple) through files and folders in an user selected path. I thought that by using vbscript FileSystemObject I would be able to do so.
    Unfortunately, it seems like the Files method does not detect files whose path is larger than the OS 260 (or 256?) character limit. How could I do it so? Please, don't tell me to use something different than vbscripts :-)
    Thanks in advance!
    Set FSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
    Set objFolder = FSO.GetFolder(Path)
    Set colFiles = objFolder.Files
    For Each objFile In colFiles
    Wscript.Echo "File in root folder:" & objfile.Name
    Next

    Yes, that describes the problem, but not the solution - short of changing the names of the folders. There is another solution.  That is, to map a logical drive to the folder so that the path to subfolders and files is shortened.  Here is a procedure that offers a scripted approach that I use to map folders with long names to a drive letter and then opens a console window at that location ...
    Dim sDrive, sSharePath, sShareName, aTemp, cLtr, errnum
    Const sCmd = "%comspec% /k color f0 & title "
    Const bForce = True
    if wsh.arguments.count > 0 then
      sSharePath = wsh.arguments(0)
      aTemp = Split(sSharePath, "\")
      sShareName = aTemp(UBound(aTemp))
      cLtr = "K"
      with CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
        Do While .DriveExists(cLtr) and UCase(cLtr) <= "Z"
          cLtr = Chr(ASC(cLtr) + 1)
        Loop
      end with
      sDrive = cLtr & ":"
    Else
      sDrive = "K:"
      sSharePath = "C:\Documents and Settings\tlavedas\My Documents\Script\Testing"
      sShareName = "Testing"
    end if
    with CreateObject("Wscript.Network")
      errnum = MakeShare(sSharePath, sShareName)
      if errnum = 0 or errnum = 22 then
        .MapNetworkDrive sDrive, "\\" & .ComputerName & "\" & sShareName
        CreateObject("Wscript.Shell").Run sCmd & sDrive & sShareName & "& " & sDrive, 1, True
        .RemoveNetworkDrive sDrive, bForce
        if not errnum = 22 then RemoveShare(sShareName)
      else
        wsh.echo "Failed"
      end if
    end with
    function MakeShare(sSharePath, sShareName)
    Const FILE_SHARE = 0
    Const MAX_CONNECT = 1
      with GetObject("winmgmts:{impersonationLevel=impersonate}!\\.\root\cimv2")
        with .Get("Win32_Share")
          MakeShare = .Create(sSharePath, sShareName, FILE_SHARE, MAX_CONNECT, sShareName)
        end with
      end with
    end function
    sub RemoveShare(sShareName)
    Dim cShares, oShare
      with GetObject("winmgmts:{impersonationLevel=impersonate}!\\.\root\cimv2")
        Set cShares = .ExecQuery _
          ("Select * from Win32_Share Where Name = '" & sShareName & "'")
        For Each oShare in cShares
          oShare.Delete
        Next
      end with
    end sub
    The SHARE that must be created for this to work is marked as having only one connect (the calling procedure).  The mapping and share is automatically removed when the console window is closed.  In the case cited in this posting, this approach could be applied using the subroutines provided so that the user's script creates the share/mapping, performs its file operations and then removes the mapping/share.  Ultimately, it might be more useful to change the folder structure, as suggested in the KB article, since working with the created folders and files will still be problematic - unless the drive mapping is in place.Tom Lavedas
