Megaraid CLI version 1.0.12

Having been round the OS learning as much as possible, i have come back to my first problem associated with the RAID.
It appears that i have no connectivity with the RAID PCI.
The whole Raid Admin is greyed out and i can do nothing.
From the command line i get the following:
No megaraid adapter Available.
Currently i have a raid set up using the Software, but would like to use the card. ( after all thats what its for ).
Q1. Does the PCI come pre-installed?
(iwould imagine Y)
Q2. If so why does my machine not think so.
Q3. Do i have to re-install or is there some other solution.
Many thanks in advance.

Hi Simon,
You're in the xserve raid discussion boards, but from the sound of your post, it sounds like you're trying to set up a hardware raid on a g5 system using the 3 internal drives?
The big difference is if you're using an actual xserve RAID system (the huge raid box that you buy seperately from the server that can hold 14 drives), you can use RAID Admin and the apple fibre PCI card.
If you're hoping to do an internal hardware raid on the g5 system, you'll want the g5 PCI megaraid card you've been mentioning, and will be using command line to set it up, not RAID Admin.
Note: the Apple Fibre pci card and the g5 raid pci card are 2 totally different cards... and no, the g5 doesn't come with any of these preinsalled... you'll have to crank open your xserve to install either.

  • Is there a CLI version of upload.html

    The subject says it all. Is there a CLI method that is the equivalent of the Blob upload utility - something that can take a pointer to a directory, say Solaris_10/Product or a list of local patches, and upload the contents into a defined channel? (I know Perl / C & Java ... I don't know python)
    The upload.html utility has the unfortunate requirement that I stay connected, and lynx doesn't support javascript, so I cannot do it that way, but if there was a command line version - then I can "set it and forget it"
    Thanks

    The command line interface for UCE, uce_cli+, can upload files using the "-upload_files" option. However it can only upload a single file so you would need to run a directory listing through a looped script.

  • Change php-cli version in Terminal

    I'm one of the many people who appreciated the pre-install of PHP 5.3.x with my new mac but needed to use 5.2.x for my local development environment. I performed one of the prescribed rollback methods and when using PHP through apache it works great. A phpinfo() shows: PHP Version 5.2.10.
    However, when using PHP through the command line (which also includes cron jobs I've set up, etc.) it still thinks it is 5.3.x. A php -v from the command line shows: PHP 5.3.2 (cli).
    I need these to be in sync for a variety of reasons, including using pear (which automatically builds extensions for 5.3.x instead of 5.2.x) and cronjobs, etc.

    jeremycellis wrote:
    So I don't think I actually have a php 5.2.x binary. Is it possible to actually downgrade the php 5.3.x CLI install?
    You don't want to change the system version. You can certainly download the PHP source, compile it, and install it into /usr/local and it should run fine. Even better, since you only need this for the command line client, you don't have to worry about having a matching Apache. Just make sure that your full 5.2 PHP completely matches your .so version in terms of build settings and libraries.
    I wish macs came with apt-get or a similar package manager because I think this would be easier if so.
    That is by design. Apple doesn't want to have to deal with a moving target OS when updating. There is no "Linux operating system" - singular. Each individual Linux machine is a unique OS.
    If you want there are a number of 3rd party package managers for MacOS X. I think they are useful only in some very specific circumstances. If you jump to them without knowing all of the side effects, you could get burned. If you do the required research and have good knowledge of MacOS X and how the 3rd party package manager works, you can use it effectively. If you don't pay attention, you could wind up unable to build or run even the simplest open-source projects.

    I checked the status of the server and hard drive by booting off of the 10.4 installation disk, select utilities and disk utility.

  • Xserve Disks and megaraid

    Howdy, I have a 2 year old Xserve G5 that shipped with Panther. I recently purchased the Hardware RAID card and a pair of 500Gb drive modules. I installed these, and as normal they came up in JBOD mode, working fine. I booted from the server installer CD, version 10.3.3, and megaraid is not installed on the CD, so I can't configure the RAID (we just want to mirror the drives). The card docs state Mac OS X 10.3.5 or higher, and the server itself is up to 10.3.9 with all other updates.
    The megaraid software is not found on the server volume either.
    How can I obtain the megaraid software in order to use my card? I've been all over the support site, and no one else seems to have had this issue.
    Do I need new disks, or is there a way to install/access the megaraid software if it's not on the original CD?
    Xserve G5 Dual 2Ghz   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   1.5Gb RAM

    Hi William.
    Nice name
    Anyway, megaraid should be there with the OS. Have you checked from the command line to see whether it's available?
    Here are some Kbase articles which discuss it:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86808
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304244
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25817
    I wish I could give you more hands-on, but I know that on my G5 desktop system I have megaraid installed, even though this machine has never had a hardware RAID card installed:
    MEGARAID CLI version 1.0.12
    Usages:
    megaraid -showadapters
    megaraid -showadapter
    megaraid -showdevices
    megaraid -showconfig [ld]
    megaraid -destroyconfig [-yes]
    megaraid -create {R0, R1, R5} -drive {0 1 2 4} [-stripesize n] [-size x] [-writecache {enable, disable}] [-readahead {on, off, adaptive}] [-iopolicy {direct, cached}]
    megaraid -changepolicy ld [-writecache (enable, disable)] [-readahead(on,off,adaptive)] [-iopolicy(direct,cached)]
    megaraid -spare pd {-create,-delete}

    megaraid -chkcon ld {-start, -stop, -status}
    megaraid -flash filename

    megaraid -initialize ld {-start, -stop, -status}
    megaraid -alarm {-on, -off, -silence }
    No MegaRAID Adapter Available
    [quadzilla:~$]
    So I don't think you should explicitly need to find a driver. You checked from the command line? It should be in /usr/sbin:
    [quadzilla:~$] which megaraid
    /usr/sbin/megaraid
    My system is 10.4, but all the Kbase articles mention it has been there since 10.3.5.
    Cheers,

  • RAID failed - Can't find status in disk utility

    I have an Xserve G5 with 3 hitachi 80GB SATA hard drives with a RAID 5 (I think) running 10.4.6. A couple of days ago, the server was running really slow and the afp was taking up alot of cpu time, so we rebooted the server as we haven't had a problem with afp before. However, the server would no longer boot up and the RAID alarm started going off. Now when booting the server I get the apple screen and after a couple of minutes, the server's fan would start going faster and faster until they would be going full blast. So I tried to check the status using disk utility of the RAID, but I can't see any status. I admit that I have only been working with the xserve for almost a year and I don't know alot, but all I see on the left of the disk utility is xserve megaraid and below that Server HD. I checked both of these and clicked on all of the tabs (first aid, RAID, partition, restore, etc), but I can't find a place to check the status of the RAID. All I can find about RAID is how to create another one. I finally found that I can run megaraid -showstatus and it said that the first hard drive failed and the other 2 were online. I also took out the hard drive and ran hitachi's test drive software using the advanced test and it said everything was fine. So I'm not sure if there is just something wrong with the RAID or what.
    I did order another hard drive that is exactly the same and it should be here in a couple of days. I also know that this is the hard drive that was accidentally ejected while the server was running before, but when the hard drive was put back in, the RAID rebuilt it and has been running fine till now. I am pretty sure that I shut the server off before when the hard drive got ejected and it would boot, so I'm just not sure exactly what this all means as the Hitachi software tells me there is nothing wrong with the drive.
    Help please

    I checked the status of the server and hard drive by booting off of the 10.4 installation disk, select utilities and disk utility.

  • HC - A scientific, graphing, supp complex nums CLI and GUI calculator

    I uploaded all three packages to AUR! Please use the PKGBUILDs there if you want to install this now. Thanks a lot goran'agar and foutrelis for help with the PKGBUILDs.
    AUR links:
    mapm : http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=32319
    hc : http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=32321
    hcg : http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=32320
    UPDATE (28.2.2010) : I now also finally have a github account where you can find the newest version of hc (cli only) which obviously has all the newest things I implemented but on the other hand it may be unstable. Anyway, here's the link : http://github.com/houbysoft/hc
    Hello ArchLinux users,
    some time ago, I was a little unsatisfied with existing calculators (either it was too memory/CPU-consuming (it had to work well, among others, on a 128MB RAM computer), or it lacked the functions I needed (f.ex. nCr and nPr)), and so I decided to write my own command-line (now there also is a GUI version) calculator.
    Here is a little description:
    The goal of this program is to provide an open source calculator with a
    simple and easy-to-use interface, similar to a command prompt, but a lot of
    options and a multitude of functions.
    You can also type "help" in the command prompt if you need any help - or
    contact me here.
    There are two major versions of HC -- a CLI (command line interface) and a
    GUI (graphical user interface).
    To get you an idea, have some screenshots:
    CLI version
    GUI version
    I thought some of you might like it, so I posted it here. It is of course open source (GPL v3) and cross-platform (precompiled for Linux and Windows).
    The calculator's homepage is
    http://houbysoft.com/hc/
    If you're interested, you'll find a lot more details there.
    Please post some feedback/criticism etc.; also please report any bugs - I started this project ~2 months ago so it is not yet completely stable and complete.
    Thanks for reading, give it a try!

    Thanks a lot, I'll test it out soon.
    If you'd help me with the PKGBUILD for my app itself, the full links are:
    http://houbysoft.com/download/hc-VERSION-TYPE.tar.gz
    where VERSION is the version number, so for example 0.4.2, and TYPE is either linux or src.
    I'm not sure which format of URLs is needed so please ask me if you need something else.
    Also, for windows versions, the urls are:

    (in case you care).

    BTW, have you considered using the python interpretor for your calculations? If the functions you need aren't already in it, you can easily add them.
    Functions and variables:
    I'll put it on my roadmap
    For the python interpreter : yes, I did, but dismissed it because:
    - it's not very convenient - you have to retype stuff to floats if you don't want only integer results
    - it's slow (again, this had to work and take a very small amount of CPU and memory on a 333MHz and 128 MB RAM system), and in algorithms where speed is crucial this would be even more of a concern
    - I know about psyco to speed it up, but AFAIK it doesn't work on 64bit processors
    - I wanted it to be small and minimalistic, installing a python distribution imo isn't
    - I like programming, writing a calculator is fun

  • Exporting report to PDF takes too long on Win 2k Advanced Server, Service Pack 4

    Post Author: zaverit
    CA Forum: .NET
    We have written VB.Net program which extracts required information from the database in the memory and then based on the configuration, exports the data to PDF using below command
    ExportToDisk(CrystalDecisions.[Shared].ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat, outFile), where outFile is .pdf filename in same folder as the executable
    The program is packaged in an MSI. It includes msvcr71.dll. When installed, this generated below assemblies;
    CystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine
    CrystalDecisons.Reportsource
    CrystalDecisions.shared
    When the report is run on a Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 2, it completes in about 4 minutes. Please see below for the specs of this workstation (Search for "Workstation Specs")
    When the same report is installed on a Windows 2000 Advanced Server, Service Pack 4, it takes more than 2 hours. Please see below for the specs of this server (Search for "Server Specs")
    Could someone point us to the problem please. We have tried following options;
    checked out the dot net framework. The server and the w/s now have v2
    installed adobe on the server (to ensure that there are no missing libraries or links)

    Have finally found a solution for this problem: http://serverfault.com/questions/490352 … w-to-start
    Now the applications do start immediately via SSH X11 forwarding as expected.
    The following three lines helped:
    ip6tables -A INPUT -i lo -j ACCEPT
    ip6tables -A OUTPUT -o lo -j ACCEPT
    ip6tables -A FORWARD -i lo -o lo -j ACCEPT
    While until now, all ip6 traffic has been forbidden (to drop all ip6 traffic) at the start of the system of course.
    Nevertheless, I don't understand it, why the ip6 localhost has to be granted this way even if the /etc/ssh/sshd_config is configured for ip4 only "AddressFamily inet"?
    I thought, that this way the sshd will be using ip4 protocol only (including for the X11 forwarding), then why does it still need the ip6?

  • Trouble adding regular oracle oci8 support to RPM, CentOs 5

    Hello,
    It seems that i'm missing smth simple while trying to add oci8 support to RPM.
    I took Christopher Jones's SRPM for 5.2.3 as a base, but since i don't have and don't need a support for instant client i modified latest available 5.1.6 SRPM from CentOS 5 repo.

    %description
    PHP is an HTML-embedded scripting language. PHP attempts to make it
    easy for developers to write dynamically generated webpages. PHP also
    offers built-in database integration for several commercial and
    non-commercial database management systems, so writing a
    database-enabled webpage with PHP is fairly simple. The most common
    use of PHP coding is probably as a replacement for CGI scripts.
    The php package contains the module which adds support for the PHP
    language to Apache HTTP Server.

  • Trouble starting lm_sensors - broken ACPI somehow?

    I'm doing a hardware project that absolutely needs the temperature sensors to work (I'm sure Nocona Xeons at least can report their temperature, right?). I tried to start lm_sensors but it gives me an error :

    What can I do now? Must I fix the ACPI DSDT and compile a custom kernel? Is the problem elsewhere? Here's my dmesg

  • Can't install on mac.

    When I go to boot the install disc it hangs.
    It hangs at "Udev events to be processed.
    I've installed on my other computer however I broke it and have to install it on my mac.

    Have you followed the 'Installing Arch linux in VMware?
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/In … _in_VMware
    I personally haven't installed Arch in VMware fusion, but the other day i tried to install Ubuntu 21.04 on Mac/VMware but couldn't get it to boot. Frustrated and sick of googling i decided instead to use a VMware image, instead. Then the only manual bit i had to do was install vmware tools, disable a few devices, enable 3d acceleration, etc. it worked out pretty well.
    You could do something similar with Arch, because upon googling, look what i found;
    http://stacklet.com/downloads/images/li … -01/x86-64
    There is a CLI version (no desktop installed), which would be a good candidate possibly.
    I guess the only downside (depending on your perspective) would be that you wouldn't go through the initial install.
    Maybe i'll try to install Archlinux in VMware fusion and see if i hit the same problem. - i just won't be able to test for a couple of days.

  • Recommendations for New Arch Convert (Please help)

    I need some help deciding what to go with for a few different things. I'm trying to stay as far away from GUIs as a I can.
    WM: I'm looking into a good tiling windows manager that supports dual screens.
    Password Management:  I have very complex passwords, that I cannot remember and have been using Keepass for Windows.  I know about KeepassX but if there is a cli program, I would prefer it.
    Panel:  Something lightweight and doesn't have many icons or any at all.
    Video Player:  Need support for Xvid/x264 and that's about it
    Music Player:  Looking for a CLI Version of songbird or something with good library management
    Browser:  I love firefox, but I'm open to anything as long as it has good documentation.
    Multiprotocol IM CLI based with MSN and AIM support
    I want something based around these concept

    WM: I'm looking into a good tiling windows manager that supports dual screens.
    Xmonad Awesome ...  there are several options, I suggest trying a few of them to see which has a style you like, as well as which of them support duel screens.
    Also take a look at screen. It splits your console up into sections, and when combined with dvtm, it makes a good "tiling WM" without needing X. I am not sure how well it handles multi-monitor set ups though, as I have never had the inclination to try it out.
    Password Management:  I have very complex passwords, that I cannot remember and have been using Keepass for Windows.  I know about KeepassX but if there is a cli program, I would prefer it.
    it looks like, based on a couple of searches of the AUR and the repos, that pwsafe is the only cli-specific password manager. There are others though that do not specify if they are cli or gui based.
    Panel:  Something lightweight and doesn't have many icons or any at all.
    My vote is for tint2, because it supports transparency from xcompmgr(-dana) + transset-df. It supports system trays and a lack of icons for any iconified programs. (iconified means minimized in Window's terms, fyi)
    Video Player:  Need support for Xvid/x264 and that's about it
    VLC or mplayer. mplayer I know works nicely in framebuffer. I use it that way myself when I just want to watch movies. (Arch boots faster than my DVD player...)
    Music Player:  Looking for a CLI Version of songbird or something with good library management
    MPD. I would go with that one. There is not much to argue for it over xmms, but I liked it better personally.
    Browser:  I love Firefox, but I'm open to anything as long as it has good documentation.
    uzbl is pretty good, but it is still alpha level...  links-g & elinks are also pretty nice as cli-centric browsers. (You can always keep a copy of Firefox/Chromium for when you're in the GUI.
    Multiprotocol IM CLI based with MSN and AIM support
    Pidgin + Fitch. I have never actually used fitch, but I use pidgin a good bit.

  • ITunes Burning Error 4200 - Windows XP

    I recently purchased an HPa1130n running iTunes 4.9. It was working fine up until a week ago when I started getting errors that say "cancelling burn... unknown error 4200". I have read a few posts in this forum and would like for someone to help me get my system back up and burning. I've done the obvious (slowing the speed, trying different disks, etc). I've also checked my DMA settings to ensure that they are correct. From what I have read so far, I think iTunes is having trouble communicating with my CD Burner.
    Help me obi-wan-kenobi.. you're my only hope...
    Here is some of my info:

    If you have multiple drives on the same IDE or SCSI bus, these drives may interfere with each other.
    Some Dell computers need an update to the ATA bus driver before iTunes recognizes CDs. If you have a Dell computer, check the Dell support website for details.

    (2) New software added
    I recently installed NERO then updated to 6.6 trial. I suspect that this has something to do with it as the last time i burned a CD sucessfully was a day before I installed/updated NERO.
    (3) I tried to alternatively burn in windows media player and was also unsucessful.
    (4) I see a ton of 7 or 8 events ranging from 100, 101, 102, 103 that are related to database engines but nothing related to iTunes. I see two ACEEventLogs from today:
    0000000001: 2005-09-03 12:40:07:203 Systemtray cannot start - ACE Runtime not detected
    Error Called by: ATI.ACE.CLI.EXE.CLI::Main processID:00348 threadID:(CLISystemtray ) domainName:(CLI.exe ) assemblyName:(CLI, Version=1.2.2006.283, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=90ba9c70f846762e)
    (5) It just got worse. I attempted to burn another disk and now I don't even get the error. When prompted to insert a blank disk and after clicking the burn icon, the top grey screen just blinks "checking media" a bunch of times then it times out. I don't even get to the "preparing to write" stage.
    Thanks again!

  • Sqlsrv very slow over network

    I'm using sqlsrv (php_pdo_sqlsrv_55_ts.dll and php_sqlsrv_55_ts.dll) in PHP (5.5.12, CLI version on Windows 8.1) to connect to a SQL Server 2012 over a VPN tunnel. But the transfer rate for large result sets is very slow.
    Testing SSMS on the same PC over the same VPN tunnel for this query (query is just for testing purposes, I also tried other queries with large data sets and all showed the same performance issues):
        SELECT *
        FROM [Data].[dbo].[Logins]
        WHERE date >= '2014-01-27 00:00:00.000' AND date < '2014-01-29 00:00:00.000'
    returns about 100,000 rows in 4 seconds. Checking the transfer rate on my firewall/VPN shows 2,500 KB/s (on a 100mbit network) while the query is running.
    Using PHP:
        sqlsrv_configure('ClientBufferMaxKBSize', 1024*1024);
        $dbconnect = "SERVER\\HERE";
        $dbconinfo = array("UID" => "user", "PWD" => "pass", "Database" => "Data")
        $conn = sqlsrv_connect( $dbconnect, $dbconinfo);
        $sql = "
        SELECT *
        FROM [dbo].[Logins]
        WHERE date >= '2014-01-27 00:00:00.000' AND date < '2014-01-29 00:00:00.000'
        $options = array();
        $options["Scrollable"] = SQLSRV_CURSOR_CLIENT_BUFFERED;
        $options["QueryTimeout"] = 30000;
        $stmt = sqlsrv_query( $conn, $sql, array(), $options);
    runs 40 seconds and the firewall/VPN shows less than 150 KB/s while the query is running. Task-Manager shows around 5% CPU load for the script.
    I used SQLSRV_CURSOR_CLIENT_BUFFERED just for testing, because it reads the result in its own buffer without any further PHP code. Fetching each set of data without buffering is just a little bit slower (around 45 seconds).
    I also tried a PDO version which lead to the same result.
    ConnectionPooling 0 or 1 didn't make any difference either.
    Changing server name to DNS vs. IP adress also made no difference.
    LogSubsystems -1 and LogSeverity -1 did not show any issues or anything helpful at all.
    I even used Wireshark to watch the network traffic but couldn't find any big differences between PHP and SSMS versions. But I don't know too much about networking layers.
    So the CPU load is low, there is no HDD use at all, the network transfer rate is extremely slow and the SQL server would be capable to deliver the results very much faster. And it actually is a lot faster with SSMS on the same PC and network connection.
    Why is sqlsrv so very slow?
    Any ideas what might be the issue or what I could try to speed up PHP/sqlsrv would be greatly appreciated.

    Please tell us what are waits assigned to query, you can use below tsql code to get the information.
    select session_id, t.text, start_time, status, command, db_name(database_id) As DBname, USER_NAME(user_id) As UserName, blocking_session_id, wait_type, wait_time, wait_resource, percent_complete from sys.dm_exec_requests
    CROSS APPLY sys.dm_exec_sql_text(sql_handle) as t
    This information can help us to understand the problem.
    Thanks,
    Shashikant
    Sadly I don't have the rights on the SQL Server for this query. But from what I gathered from similar issues on the web, SQL Server is most likely waiting for the client.
    I also tried the same testing query now with Power Query in Excel. It's as fast as with SSMS. Just with sqlsrv on PHP it's extremly slow.
    Testing the query on a local SQL Server, it's pretty much instantaneous with SSMS, Excel and sqlsrv on PHP as well.
