Member of Target Group: Contact record updated

We are creating a target group for a Campaign and several of the contacts had to be updated (changed Companies "Account" for instance) and the new data for that contact is not reflected on Members list, shows old data (old Company "Account").
Without removing the member and re-adding, are we missing something or once they are added it holds the old data?
We can find this down the road to be cumbersome when copying target groups and/or when using the same target group for other campaigns
if a contact record is updated and the information is not matching to the member data.
Any insight appreciated!

Hi Gina,
once the members are added to a group and after if you do any changes on the master data these changes wont reflect in the group already created, you should remove and save the group after again add back this time the new changed data will be updated.

    I am getting an error message while importing BP into new Target Group. I am following steps:
    1. Create->Segment
    2. Import Members
    The moment I click on Import it throws me error for few BP that
    "Business Partner is already member of Target Group.
    But it does not disply which BP.
    I have list of more then 200 BPs that are already existing in CRM system.
    And moreover system does not display more then 100 entries so I am unable to find out the which BPs are not getting uploaded.
    Please help to resolve the issue.

    Can I send a text to a "group" contact without selecting each individual member?  I have a group formed in my contacts, but I still have to select each member in that group to send a text or email from my phone.

    There are apps that allow you to address sms messages to groups (such as Speed Names: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/speed-names-contacts-groups/id285124918?mt=8), but not iMessages.  Perhaps this will change with a future iOS update.
    The only point of having them at the moment is to allow you to limit the view to only contacts belonging to a group, so that you can more easily add the individual members of the group.  But at the present time, you still have to add them individually.

  • ContactList_UpdateInsert will not update Contact Record

    I'm having trouble getting ContactList_UpdateInsert to work with Contact Records that have a username.
    1) First, I call Contact_RetrieveByEntityID('adminuser', 'password' , 1234, entity_id) to retrieve the contact record data for updating.
    cr = c.service.Contact_RetrieveByEntityID('adminuser', 'password' , 1234, entity_id)
    2) Then I modify some data, such as ExternalID
    cr.externalId = '123456'
    3) Calling ContactList_UpdateInsert returns an error:
    'Contact(s) saved in the system. Please review the list of error(s)/warning(s) found when processing the data.\n- Contact: John Doe | ERROR: The username [TestUser] cannot be assigned to contact with email [] as it is already used.'
    Manually adding the emailAddress field because it's not in the original cr record fixes that error.
    cr.emailAddress = '[email protected]'
    Calling again gives the error:
    Contact(s) saved in the system. Please review the list of error(s)/warning(s) found when processing the data.\n- Contact: John Doe | ERROR: The username [TestUser] cannot be assigned to contact with email [[email protected]] as it is already used.'
    It seems as though any time the contact record has a username assigned, I'm unable to update the record. What's the deal??
    EDIT: I thought I was posting this in the API section, but apparently not. Sorry.

    Okay I figured this out. When updating, you either have to supply externalId or emailAddress to match the record you want to change. If neither is supplied, or it doesn't match the supplied value, it adds a new record instead of update. So if you're trying to add an external id, you have to supply the emailAddress parameter as well, so it can match the record you want to change. I don't know if you can change the external id since it will try to match the external id before the email address.
    This is the explanation from the knowledgebase
    Please note that similarly to the import routine, you can utilize the External ID property to set a unique idenitifier value for each customer. If this value is present then customers are matched and updated accordingly. For example if every customer in your system has a member number, then assign that to the External ID property. If you do not utilize this property then the unique identifier used will be a customer's email address. If neither is provided then contacts are added and never updated as no unique identifier exists.
    I assumed that if you retrieve the record you want first (using Contact_RetrieveByEmailAddress), then make your changes and send it to ContactList_UpdateInsert, it should just update that record. But you have to set the emailAddress parameter.

  • Target Group to be contacted again

    A target group was contacted through emai. A bunch of them responded. The ones who didnot respond have to be contacted again. How to go about it?

    If campaign execution is triggered via Campaign automation then add members responded to the campaign in a  TG.And later remove this TG members from original TG used in campaign.So that the new TG will have members who did not respond to the campaign.
    If campaign execution  started manually then for campaign response update a marketing attribute.Later segmentation can be done on this marketing attribute with respective filter value.

  • Target group for contacts

    Hi Folks,
    I need help with a segmentation based on 'Relationships' requirement. In our system a Contact Person is assigned to a 'Partner' where 'Partner' is an Employee in the system (has a BUR011 relationship with the Contact). Also, the Relationship record (between the Contact and Employee in BUT050) will have some addition custom fields which define other attributes of the 'relationship'. As an example let assume the custom field is XYZ and the possible values are A, B, C for this field.
    The requirement is to create a Target Group of all Contact Persons where the Partner 'Region' = IL and relationship custom field XYZ = A. From the list of Business Partners I can drill down to the list of Contact Persons, but I'm having trouble filtering the list of Contacts further based on the details of the Employee (Region & Custom field XYZ). Any thoughts on how this can be done with a custom infoset and if the solution approach will change based on whether we do classic Vs high-volume segmentation?

    The best way to fulfill your requirement is to first create a segment of the employees using the filter criteria mentioned. Then you may use the follow up function 'convert organizations to contact persons':

    Yes Srikanth, you need to bind context of result list to SEGED_TG using component controller binding. Let me know if you have questions.
    But the question is did you make a navigation from the contact search result to target group creation or is it a standard functionality ?
    As per my knowledge we can navigate from Profile set creation creation screen or from Trade Promotions.

  • Issue in Target Group creation of contact persons

    I am working on CRM 5.0. Using the segment builder creating target group to be attached to the campaign.
    I have created one target group of organizations with Marketing attributes attached to these BPs.
    Using this organizations target group as Master Group I am creating one more target group of contact persons of these organizations (using Contact persons relationship). The issue here is, out of these contact persons I require only those contact persons having interest in classical music. I have maintained this attribute in the BP master data of these contact persons.
    While creating the target group of such contacts in segment builder I am using this attribute to filter the data but I am getting all the contacts without any filter applied. My requirement is to only get those contact persons (belonging to the master group of organizations) having interest in classical music. Can anyone suggest how to achieve this?

    I am working on a Markting solution for a University with CRM 5.0.
    We need to contact certain Teachers in Schools (they have an orientation function for pupils that might study in the University in the future).
    I can segment for schools in Segmentbuilder. Now, I need to generate "new target group from contact". In my case the contact person of the school is the Teacher (function type is contact person). This does not work.
    Am I missing some parametrization, or is there a relation to sales area (wich we do not have).
    Hoping for your help. I will regard points generously.

    Hi Cristina,
    I understand Schools are crated as Org and Teacher as Persons. There exist a Relationship between these similar to Contact Person (BUR001).
    Now, Follow the process
    1) Create a Data Source in CRMD_MKTDS.
    2) Assign an Infoset Query, as per your scenario.
    3) Assign Function Module "CRM_MKTTG_PF_BP_TAB_TO_CP" to data source
    4) Save, and then create an Attribute List.
    Go to Segment Builder and create target group based on above Attribute List.
    You'll get a list of all the contact persons. For your case, Teachers.

    PS: This will only work if Schools - Org, Teacher = Person and Relationship = BUR001. If you have other criterias please copy Function Module "CRM_MKTTG_PF_BP_TAB_TO_CP" and edit it as per your business case. Then assign this FM in Data Source.

    There might be a routine in your Transformation which might be filtering few records(or)
    It is possible that you will have multiple records for one keyfield in PSA. But when you try loading the same to datatarget like Cube, the result will be added.
    For ex, say you have Profit center US00000593 in PSA with two rows with keyfigure(say some ABC) values 100 & -50.
    Then when you load the data to datatarget, you will have only one row in it with Profit center US00000593 & values for keyfigure ABC=50 (i.e 100-50=50). So most of the times we will be having added records less than transferred records.

  • Help needed to generate new target group for contacts from BP Target Group

    In CRM 5.0, we have a functionality in which say we have created a target group (T1) for 10 BPu2019s (organization) and each of these BPu2019s have one or more contact persons associated to them. Now if I want to create a target group for all these contact persons associated to the 10 BPu2019s, in CRM 5.0 I have the option to right click on the target group (T1) and then I get an option u201C generate new target group from contactsu201D. By doing so another target group for all the contacts associated to those BPu2019s will be generated. I am not able to find out the similar option in CRM 2007 (web UI) where in I can create target group for contacts associated to BPu2019s (organization). There should be some work around for this requirement.
    Please let me know how to achieve this requirement.

    we're also using that functionality in CRM 5.0. I think it would be worth a combined OSS message to get this functionality back in standard if it isn't there.

    Use CRM_MKTTG_STATUS_READ. Provide the TG guid and you would get the current status. Change the status structure to add the status you want to change to and then you can call CRM_MKTTG_TG_ST_MAINTAIN and  CRM_MKTTG_TG_SAVE

    Dear experts,
    we are currently on CRM 7.0 SP06.
    In segment Builder (GUI) there is an option in context menu for target group which allows us to create a new target group with all the contact persons from an existing target group with organisations.
    I know that we have to use the WEB UI. But there I could not find this functionality.
    Although we can achieve the same building up our own infoset, I would like to know if this functionaltiy is actually missing, or not supported anymore.
