Member Selection Button Fails in Excel

Has anybody run into a situation where the Member Selection button does not work in Excel 2007? When someone tries to use the button Excel simply freezes forcing the users to re-boot the computer. This is happening on a handful of Corporate users making it extremely difficult to examine their computers for any length of time. For the four users in question they are using Excel 2007 (some with Service Pack 2, some without), Windows XP, and SmartView 11.1.1.3. I was able to test if 11.1.1.3.05 would help and it does not. We are using the 11.1.1.3 version of the Hyperion Suite: HFM, Planning, Essbase, etc. I tend to think it is a user-specific issue but I could not put my finger on it: specific Excel add-ons, Windows issues, etc. When I was working with Oracle Support they were focusing on Essbase and its setup but I proved that this issue happens in HFM and not just HPL/Essbase.
Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks everyone for replying to this message. We could never find a viable solution so we decided to re-image the computers/laptops of the handful of users with this issue. This seemed to do the trick. At this point we think that there was something interfering on the specific machines that we could not identify.

Quite urgent.
When group of users select Smartview --> Member Selection --> "FindNext" or "Find" button is not working.
The same option is working fine with my credentials. But problem exists for set of 3 users.

Thanks for your reply.
* All 3 users are part of same group.
* Created user with similar group and checked for member selection option to verify "Find Next" button functionality. It worked fine.
* Verified filters assigned to this group. No filters are assigned.
* Checked for version again - Version is V11.1.2.1.00 (Build 271). It is exactly same as other systems where the functionality is working fine.
* Installation is carried out by company IT team as administrator, so that can not be an issue.
kindly suggest if you have any other inputs to be verified.

Does Member Selection (SmartView) == Retrieve (Excel AddIn)

I just purchased the "Look Smarter.." book and it starts off by referring to a 'Retrieve' function in the Excel Add-In that pulls dimensions, member and associated data-values from an Essbase db (in my case Sample:Basic). I however have the SmartView Add-In running on Excel 2007, and there isn't any 'Retrieve' function that I can see.. The closest I can find is something called "Member Selection" that can be used to pull in dimension/members names. However this does not seem to pull in any actual data for these dimensions/members. I have already loaded the Sample:Basic db with data, so it's in there somewhere. I just need to know how to pull it all into Excel so that I can continue following along with Mr. Roske!

I followed your steps EXACTLY, but it only displays the Year and Market dimensions.. no 133980 data value! Just to confirm that I have the correct sequence, I did the following in order:
1. loaded data.txt into Demo:Basic in EAS
2. ran an 'Execute Calculation' of the 'default' calc script in EAS.
3. opened a fresh Excel workbook and connected to Demo:Basic and activated it
4. clicked on Refresh.
The only other thing that happens is that a little window with drag-and-drop for 'Product' , 'Account' etc. shows up on the sheet. I tried to do a drag-and-drop of these extra dimensions, followed by another Refresh, but still no data value(s) appear.
The funny thing is everything work perfectly when I use the Excel-Addin instead of SmartView! In fact, when I use Excel-Addin, the 133980 shows up even if I don't explicitly run the default calc script. So, I have a feeling that my problem is localized to SmartView.

Removing Members from Excel Add-in (or Smartview) Member Selection Options

The users of my system have write access to some scenarios, read access to others, and no access to the rest. I would like the Scenarios for which the users have no access to not show up in the member selection options in Excel Add-in (similar to how they will not show up in Forms). Our security settings obviously prevent them from seeing the data itself, but we don't want them to see certain Scenarios at all (even the member names). We've dealt with this issue in Financial Reporting by manually specifying what the POV options are, but we can't do the same with Excel Add-in or Smartview.
Is this possible, or are these Add-ins just not smart enough to interpret the security?

I sugget you look at metaread filters. they would prevent users from seeing members they don't have access to (one exception is they might see parents they don't have access to if they are required to navigate to the hierarchy they do have access to

Hyperion Financial Reports - Member selection issue

We are using Hyperion suite 9.2.0.3. We get an error during Member selection in POV when executing a book or report. The member selection window looks blank.
We have tried restarting the services of Financial report and Essbase. But no luck.
Can someone help us in getting this issue resolved.

I'm not sure I have a good answer for you, but in my experience blank screens are usually caused by failing weblogic, apache, or a firewall setting.
You might have better success getting an answer in the Hyperion Query and Reporting forum.

Cannot select buttons in FileMaker after Mountain Lion Install

Because the installer claimed I'd tinkered with my partitions (I haven't, unless accessing BootCamp from Parallels counts), I had to do a clean install of Mountain Lion. That in itself was a pain because I could not successfully create an installer on a USB flash disk after several attempts. I had to boot over the internet. After successfully creating a virgin 10.8 system, I restored my system from Time Machine, last backup a few minutes before I started this process.
None of my mail configuration carried over -- rules, signatures, smart folders all lost. Also lost SignatureProfiles preferences, including the registration code. Those are all things I can painfully recreate. However, I am unable to use FileMaker Pro. When it opens, I am unable to select buttons in the format bar, buttons in my applications, and can't resize the window. I have removed ~/Library/Preferences/*trackpad* and *mouse* to no avail. Removed ~/Library/Preferences/*FileMaker* files (all the way back to FileMaker 5). To no avail.
I created a new account on my system and FileMaker runs fine.
Which preference file is corrupt?

Okay, I logged out, logged in as root, copied all of top root level directories into the new account and changed their ownership appropriately. FileMaker works. I deleted my account, and renamed the new account using apple method to my old account name, and FileMaker fails. Renamed it again to a different name, and it works. I guess 'sbradley' is an invalid account name
Still wishing I could recover my rules and signatures.

I am trying in SmarView with the option Member Selection creates groups with or.
For example:
I want to create the follow group: From my Product dimension I want
All the level0 OR member with UDA=first
I only can create
All the level0 AND member with UDA=first
How does anybody try to create a group in member selection with OR?

According to your description, I understand that Outlook client cannot connect to Exchange server 2013 while one member of DAG failed.
If I have misunderstand your concern, please do not hesitate to let me know.
I want to double confirm whether all account store in MBX1 experience this issue, users in MBX2 works fine.
Please run following command to double check the database status:
Get-MailboxDatabase –Status | select Name,Mounted,MountedOnServer
If it works in OWA, the issue may be related to Outlook side. Please run “Test E-mail AutoConfiguration” and “Outlook Connection Status” to get more details, expecial the setting of proxy server, it’s more helpful
for further troubleshooting.
Additional, please try to recreate a profile for testing. Besides, please move active DB back to MBX1.

Xmod selection button doesn't wo

My Xmod selection button works inconsistantly. Sometimes I have to push it up to 60 times before the blue lights will switch between the x-fi crystalizer , x-fi cmss, and volume to allow adjustment for the different modes. It has been this way since I bought it. I've sent it back to creative labs twice and it still doesn't work. When I first called tech support they didn't know which selection button I was talking about, they thought it was the big round volume button, I was told that the large flat piece above the volume button didn't do anything. Then why is it in the instructions? or why does it work when it feels like it's? or how do you adjust the x-fi? crystalizer or the x-fi cmss without this selection button that is supposidly not there? I don't think they know their product. I'm very disgusted. Has anyone else had this problem? Have you been able to get yours fixed? I'm tired of spending my time and money sending this item back, just to have the same problem when I get it back. I'm not sinking anymore money and time into this item just to get it back without being fixed. [color="#ff3333">Creative needs to familiarize themselves with their products. Hi ,
The cause of the issue is the standard rdf is set to run for single operating unit. But R12 is a moac setup enable application. Hence The operating unit mode is changed to Single from null in system administration concurrent program setting for the XML report concurrent program.
This fixed the issue.

HP Smart Web Printing Select Button does not appear

Just started to use Smart Web Printing. The Select Button as shown in the help file does not appear on the screen. Instead, a small box "x Select area to remove" shows within the area to print.

How can I just display the selected value of a listbox in a report without the reverse display and selection buttons?

I am using a table which contains a text field with a lookup. I want to use the selected value of this field in a form which is acting as a selection form. No editing of the field's value is permitted. How do I just display the value of the field (which
is considered a listbox on the form) without the reverse display and the up and down selection buttons.
I can provide an illustration of the condition I am trying to overcome, but this system doesn't accept it.

I found, after much experimentation, on a similar problem involving a multiselect lookup field, that if I make the field invisible, and add a textbox that displays the fieldname plus .column(0), it displays all the selected entries.
E.g.: staff.Column(0)
Staff is the field containing the last names of selected staff members.
staff.Value only shows the first name in the lookup list whether it is checked or not, so this is useless.
staff.column(0), however, (inexplicably) shows all the selected names, e.g. Jones, Smith, Wiggins.

I am trying to setup a Test Server for BOP 11.60 with MS SQL 2000 in MS Windows Server 2003. After installation, I copied user directory and database from live system to the new Test server. After installed the application andI updated Configuration Manager but when I run Planning Application Services, I have the following message:

I am trying to enable some reader features using Adobe LiveCycle Reader Ex 7.0 but when I upload the pdf file i got this message
"Error 442: Selected file failed to open as a PDF 'com.adobe.document.pdf.PDFOperationFailure: IDL:com/adobe/document/pdf/PDFOperationFailure:1.0'."
when I open this fiel by Adobe Reader 8.0 I got this message
"This document contained certain rights to enable some features in Adobe Reader. This document has been changed since it was created and these rights are no longer valid. Please contact the author for the original version of this document."
is there any right should be assigned during the creation of PDF to avoid this error? i am using these products
