Memory cause for USB overload?
Yesterday I installed 2gb of Kingston memory in my Macbook Pro replacing the original 512 card. I had given up on the processor like other people have posted: thinking that the USB port hard wired into the board was the problem. Since the computer had just undergone a complete archive and install and immediately reproduced the USB overload with nothing attached but a mouse. Indeed the computer had so many symptoms it's possible the original memory was slightly defective.
But now miraculously the problem has disappeared, at least for the first trial of running a couple of DVD's on a 30in screen. I was able to use a wireless mouse the whole time which was never the case before.
So if people have experienced this same USB overload problem with 1gb or more of memory would report on that I would greatly appreciate it and will give an anecdotal tip for those of you who may still be wanting a solution.
Anecdote: I waited for a long time to install this memory thinking it was bought it in error: Kingston KTA-MB667K2/2G which all the specs say are for the Mac Mini. However it's still PC2 5300 200 pin 128M dimm cards. What ultimately happened is that Kingston abridged the line of ram they were selling because this offshoot was a redundancy of the more expensive KTA-MB667 line that is standard for the Macbook Pro single core duos. And I can assure you that the dimms fit Apple's specs as I didn't fully check it out until yesterday.

That's right smells like good old 'sold capitalist philosophy' making America work for us on this one and I'm going to get a new logic board out of apple anyway. Why shouldn't I?
Even if that old board gets burned up for gold on the back alley streets of China. By all means if it doesn't concern you it never hurts to tell the truth but it's more fun to lie; don't ask don't tell doesn't that pretty much sum it up here in the greenhouse capital...eh?
BTW: my truck runs like a MBP on Kingston high: 15% cleaner on veggie oil...

one of usb port in my macbook pro havent work after i ve updated latest security update for osx 10.7.5, how do i know what is cause that usb port is good or bad
On a Mac running v10.7.2, the only way to reinstall Safari is to reinstall OS X using OS X Recovery.
Safari 5.1.1 is for Snow Leopard. It will not run on a Mac with v10.7 installed. -
Anyone know the cause for this kernal panic?
I was think it might have something to do with the Steelseries USB headset cause i unplugged it and pluged it back in and then my Imac froze and restarted.

hi. i have labview 8.0 and vision 7.1. i installed ni-imaq for usb but the vi blocks didn't appear in function palet. does ni-imaq work with labview 8.0 and is it important to have the same labview and vision? if there is a new version of ni-imaq to work with labview 8.0 please send me the link.
Ali,
As far as compatibility, LabVIEW 8.0 is compatible with Vision 8.0, 8.2, and 8.2.1 -- it is not compatible with Vision 7.1 so that may be causing the issues you are seeing. LabVIEW versions are only compatible with the same, and newer versions of Vision. As far as IMAQ, here is a link to the Version Compatibilities of LabVIEW and IMAQ. Let me know if you have more questions!

What is the cause for the mac to become slow
what is the cause for the mac to become slow?
Things You Can Do To Resolve Slow Downs
If your computer seems to be running slower here are some things you can do:
Start with a visit to: OS X Maintenance - MacAttorney.
Boot into Safe Mode then repair your hard drive and permissions:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions Pre-Lion/Mountain Lion
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Repair the Hard Drive - Lion/Mountain Lion
Boot from your Lion Recovery HD. When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. If no errors are reported, then click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Restart your computer normally and see if this has helped any. Next do some maintenance:
Suggestions for OS X Maintenance
For situations Disk Utility cannot handle the best third-party utility is Disk Warrior; DW only fixes problems with the disk directory, but most disk problems are caused by directory corruption; Disk Warrior 4.x is now Intel Mac compatible.
OS X performs certain maintenance functions that are scheduled to occur on a daily, weekly, or monthly period. The maintenance scripts run in the early AM only if the computer is turned on 24/7 (no sleep.) If this isn't the case, then an excellent solution is to download and install a shareware utility such as Macaroni, JAW PseudoAnacron, or Anacron that will automate the maintenance activity regardless of whether the computer is turned off or asleep. Dependence upon third-party utilities to run the periodic maintenance scripts was significantly reduced since Tiger. These utilities have limited or no functionality with Snow Leopard or Lion and should not be installed.
OS X automatically defragments files less than 20 MBs in size, so unless you have a disk full of very large files there's little need for defragmenting the hard drive. As for virus protection there are few if any such animals affecting OS X. You can protect the computer easily using the freeware Open Source virus protection software ClamXAV. Personally I would avoid most commercial anti-virus software because of their potential for causing problems. For more about malware see Macintosh Virus Guide.
I would also recommend downloading a utility such as TinkerTool System, OnyX 2.4.3, or Cocktail 5.1.1 that you can use for periodic maintenance such as removing old log files and archives, clearing caches, etc.
For emergency repairs install the freeware utility Applejack. If you cannot start up in OS X, you may be able to start in single-user mode from which you can run Applejack to do a whole set of repair and maintenance routines from the command line. Note that AppleJack 1.5 is required for Leopard. AppleJack 1.6 is compatible with Snow Leopard. There is no confirmation that this version also works with Lion.
When you install any new system software or updates be sure to repair the hard drive and permissions beforehand.
Get an external Firewire drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):
1. Carbon Copy Cloner
2. Data Backup
3. Deja Vu
4. SuperDuper!
5. SyncTwoFolders
6. Synk Pro
7. Synk Standard
8. Tri-Backup
Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQs on maintenance, optimization, virus protection, and backup and restore.
Additional suggestions will be found in Mac maintenance Quick Assist.
Referenced software can be found at CNet Downloads or MacUpdate.
Additional Hints
Be sure you have an adequate amount of RAM installed for the number of applications you run concurrently. Be sure you leave a minimum of 10% of the hard drive's capacity as free space.
Add more RAM. If your computer has less than 2 GBs of RAM and you are using OS X Leopard or later, then you can do with more RAM. Snow Leopard and Lion work much better with 4 GBs of RAM than their system minimums. The more concurrent applications you tend to use the more RAM you should have.
Always maintain at least 15 GBs or 10% of your hard drive's capacity as free space, whichever is greater. OS X is frequently accessing your hard drive, so providing adequate free space will keep things from slowing down.
Check for applications that may be hogging the CPU:
Open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder. Select All Processes from the Processes dropdown menu. Click twice on the CPU% column header to display in descending order. If you find a process using a large amount of CPU time, then select the process and click on the Quit icon in the toolbar. Click on the Force Quit button to kill the process. See if that helps. Be sure to note the name of the runaway process so you can track down the cause of the problem.
Often this problem occurs because of a corrupted cache or preferences file or an attempt to write to a corrupted log file. -

Can someone help us to find root cause for this issue???
Thanks
RaviSorry this took so long. Here is part of the alert log. I am sorry it is so long. This sequence is repeated over and over again. I am only guessing, but does the fourth to last line suggest that one of the redo files is corrupted, again, because the machine ran out of space?

Memory leak for services.exe
Hi,
I have been observing memory leak for "Services.exe" process and which causes server hung issue. I am having server 2008 R2, hosting SQL server 2008 R2.
the handle count for services.exe rises to its limit quickly and the casues the server hung issue.Hi,
I agree with Milos that you can install Process Monitor to find the root reason for this issue:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-au/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx
In addition, it may caused by some corrupt event logs, please make sure you have applied the Maximum log size setting for event logs appropriately.
Best regards,

SSRS in SharePoint2013: There is a report in SharePoint and it contains a sub-report and the sub-report hyperlink. When I click the hyperlink to go to the sub-report, after >10min, I click the "Back to.." button
on IE to go to the previous page. Then it catch the error as:

I am using SQL2012 and Sharpoint2013.Hi Alisa,
Thanks for your reply, I changed the web.config, but the issue did not resolved.
I add the codes in two parts of the web.config as below, you can find in by keywords “aspnet:MaxHttpCollectionKeys”
This issue can not reproduce on Chrome only occur on IE.
So, do you have some details suggestion for me to fix it?

Connecting Nano to PC causes other USB devices to unconnect
Connecting Nano to PC causes other USB devices to unconnect from USB2 ports. USB2 are on a pci card. Is there anything I can do to stop this from happening?
Thanks,
RON CHi
I have Satellite M70-159 and I didnt notice any strange problem with USB ports. I use a few of them like printer, webcam, USB memory stick, optical mouse and external HDD. The devices are recognized properly and I remove them always without safe remove option.
Now I have Vista preinstalled and till now there is no problem. If I understood you right USB ports are working well but there is problem with USB modem only. Am I right?
Try also to contact modem producer support. Maybe is issue like this known and hopefully they have some logical explanation. -
Suggestion for creative's next MP3 Player, connection for USB Flash Driv
I would to see a connection for USB flash dri'ves to be added to the next mp3 player Creative makes. This way we don't have to rely solely on expensi've and limited in memory SD Cards.
I'm a bit confused as well, flash dri'ves are all more expensi've than the SDHC cards I have of the same size, and a whole heck of a lot more bulky and oddly shaped. I can't see myself strolling around with a ZEN with a plastic knob sticking out of the side, but that's just my opinion.
I like SD cards, they are slim, extremely light weight and easy to carry (mobility is pretty much the entire point of a portable player). It makes it really easy to purchase a few SD cards and use them like interchangeable disks. They are also pretty cheap and rapidly getting cheaper. -
Hi
I've been looking around for a decent USB 2.0 hub, one that gives at least 3-4 additional ports, but all I find are fancy looking ones that cost upwards of $30. Is that the standard for USB hubs, or are there some cheaper ones someone could point me to?
Thanks.
eMac Mac OS X (10.3.7)Richard Habiniak,
US$30 for a quality self-powered USB 2.0 4-port hub sounds about right to me. Keep in mind that you don't necessarily want the cheapest hub you can find. Bus-powered and/or cheaply made / poorly shielded hubs can cause USB signal reflection problems, typically spurious wake-from-sleep signals but also general USB signal degradation and noise.
Also, watch out for really cheap USB data cables --- cheap thin cables are prone to the wires breaking and are poorly shielded to where you can almost expect serious line noise crosscoupling into the cables, which can lead to the computer locking up. (Happened to me with a cheap media card reader --- the thin cheap USB cable included turned out to be why a Mac running OS 9.2.2 would lock up randomly. The fix was a better quality USB data cable that as I remember it cost about as much as the card reader did.) -
Z420 bios error 110 out of memory space for option roms
Hi,
I want to attach a SCSI RAID drive to the PC to copy the contents off onto a new drive, but when I do I receive this message:
10—Out of memory space for option ROMs Option ROM for a device could not run because of memory constraints.
I know that under the Setup Menu/Advanced/Power On Options you are supposed to set the ACPI/USB Buffers @ Top of Memory setting to Enable, but unfortunately my version of BIOS doesn't contain this option.
Can anyone tell me what I can turn off in my system to allow it to operate with the ATTO card?
I also have a NVIDIA K4000 card installed and an AJA Io Express PCI card installed. These both work fine without the ATTO card inserted into the machine.
Thanks in advance!Hi,

Memory modules for Msi Big Bang trinergy
Hey forum,
i want to buy some memory modules for my trinergy mobo because the ones i had earlier also proved to be incompatible. I would like to ask you if there are any memory modules besides the ones recommended from the MSI site concerning my mobo. I am looking for a 2x2 gb ram kit with a heat dispenser so it can work around 1600mHz. Thank you in advance
P.S Is the list on the site the only one? i mean are there any updated versions of it with more high end memory modules tested?Ideally you would provide us with your fullsystem specs first >>Posting Guide<<
From a memory perspective, the reason these modules have heatspreaders is mostly due to marketing and to impress the potential buyers. The secondary reason is that most manufacturers sell you overvolted and overclocked 1066 or 1333 chips on a 1600 marketed module that needs 1,65V instead of the standard 1,5V. Your memory controller is part of the CPU and natively only supports 1333 at 1,5V.
If you really insist, then at least get yourself a 1600 kit that does this speed at 1,5V. One of the modules that seem to work well are the CMZ4GX3M2A1600C9 from Corsair. From a user perspective, the mem modules from Crucial that you see in my signature come highly recommended as they have been proven to work on the P55 platform whenever used. -
Memory upgrade for KM3M-V mobo (aka MS 7061-01S)
Hi, this is my first post. I've read the guidelines and searched for an existing topic but can't find one that quite matches what I want to ask, so I'm posting a new topic - please forgive me I have erred!
I have a TIME Computers desktop (please don't ask why), mobo being a MSI KM3M-V (also known as MS7061-01S), which is based on VIA KM266 chipset. CPU = Sempron 2400+.
I've just installed a new graphics card, an ATI All-in-Wonder 9200SE, with associated drivers and software including Catalyst (which menat I had to instal MS .net framework too). This seems to be working OK but overall speed not great. (Also, for some reason I don't seem to be getting any sound at all, but I expect I can fix that with a bit of trail and error.)
My next step is to increase the memory. Existing memory installed is one 256MB UDIMM module, but I'm aiming to remove it and instal 2 x 1GB UDIMM modules, which I know the mobo can take. Naturally I'm looking to get the maximum available performance (subject to stability considerations), so I'm looking to go for the highest bandwidth/speed the system can take. This is where it gets tricky. Having searched Crucial, Kingston and other memory configurators plus various other tech articles and indeed MSI's own website, I've reached the conclusion that I can select memory in PC2100/ 2700/ etc up to 4000 or even higher provided that the maximum memory chip size (density) does not exceed 128MB.
But I'm not sure about the speed limitation: is there any point in buying DIMMs capable of DDR333 or 400 - will my chipset limit the speed to 266MHz anyway? I'll be grateful for any expert views.

As I see it, it makes sense to go for the highest spec available at reasonable cost - so I would probably aim for PC4000 rather than 3200. There doesn't seem to be any downside in doing so (provided one is happy to tweak the BIOS where necessary), and even the MSI MOBO spec seems to endorse this view - see bit picked out in red below:
http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=KM3M-V&class=mb
Main Memory
• Supports four memory banks by using two 184-pin DDR DIMMs
• Supports a maximum memory size of 2GB.
• Supports 2.5v DDR SDRAM DIMM
Due to the High Performance Memory design, motherboards or system configurations may or may not operate smoothly at the JEDEC (Joint Electron Device Engineering Council) standard settings (BIOS Default on the motherboard) such as DDR voltage, memory speeds and memory timing. Please confirm and adjust your memory setting in the BIOS accordingly for better system stability.
Example: Kingston HyperX DDR500 PC4000 operates at 2.65V, 3-4-4-8, CL=3.

Memory limitation for session object!
what is the memory limitation for using session objects?
venuas already mentioned there is no actual memory limitation within the specification, it only depends on the jvm's settings
how different app-server handle memory management of session objects is another part of the puzzle, but in general you should not have problems in writting any object to the session.
we had the requirement once to keep big objects in session, we decided to do a ResourceFactory that returns us the objects, and only store unique-Ids into the session.
We could lateron build on this and perform special serialization tasks of big objects in the distributed environment.
