Hi,
Suggestion:
1. try different DIMM slots I did but not changed
2. try different RAM (you did already, ok :P )
3. try different power supply unit  new 350W
4. go into the BIOS and set "Load BIOS Setup Default", leave the RAM settings default.

All default bios settings except I turned spread spectrum turned off.
The first time I powered on, everything worked fine.  I installed Vista 64 bit home premium (rebooting several times), several software packages (rebooting several times) and everything was good.  The next day, the BIOS hung w/ the LED's showing a 'memory detection error' (red-red-green-red).
So I started swapping memory sticks - between each memory swap, I unplugged the PSU and cleared CMOS before rebooting.
I had 1 stick of RAM in each orange slot.  Tried moving them to the green slots but got the same error.  I removed the second stick, and everything worked fine.  Removed stick #1, put in stick #2 and everything worked fine.  So it seemed to boot fine with just stick 1 or just stick 2 but not both.
However, I came back after lunch and tried with just stick #1 and got the same memory error.  Cleared CMOS again and then it booted fine.  Tried swapping out stick #1 for stick #2 and it failed again.  Put stick #1 back in by itself and it still failed.  So I'm getting very (seemingly) random behavior.
When it does get boot fine, I've checked the BIOS and it's selecting the correct memory timings listed on the OCZ page (5-5-5-18 @ 2.1V) automatically.  The only bios change I've made (besides setting the time) was to turn off spread spectrum.
If just one stick failed, I'd say it's obviously the RAM.  But since either stick seems to work every once in awhile and both sticks worked the first time I tried it, I'm not sure if it's the main board or the RAM.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Before you consider updating your BIOS, please try to stabilize the system:
    - use one stick of RAM only
    - set FSB/Memory Ratio to 1:1.2 in BIOS (=DDR2-800)
    - adjust memory voltage to 1.95V
    - Disable Spread Spectrum
After that, see if the problem still occurs and run memtest86+ to check memory stability.

  • 865PE Neo2(6728) D-Bracket hangs at Memory Detection Test

This is terribly annoying... I just bought the mother board... Its a 865PE Neo2(6728)800mhzFSB the processor is P4 2.4ghz 800mhz, 512k l2-Cache.  I dont know who made it like i know nothing about northwood or whatever, it says Intel on the box...  I have 512MB of "Legacy Electronics" PC3200 64x64 DDR...  I also just bought a NVdia G4 Ti-4200 64mb DDR 4x AGP made by Pixelview.  I have a 160GB WD 8mb Cache 7200 HD...  Ok the problem is when i go to boot up the computer, the VIDEO doesnt come on, and when i installed the "D-Bracket" the lights hang at 3 light, top right green all other red... Says in the manual that problem is memory detection test, testing onboard memory size,  will hang if damaged or not installed properly.  Ok.  I have no idea how that wo;uld happen so, just to check i took out RAM, no dice, i changed video cards to MX440 G4, no dice, i tried disconnection the PCI slot which has the 160GB hard drive connected(why it needs this i dont know, according to WD WinXP needs...) none of this changes anything.. How do i check the onboard memory or could it be anything else?  Ok thats all i have thanks for the help!!

Did you tried to boot up the system without the D-Bracket?
Yes it still does nothing, no video...  Thats why i put in the D-Bracket.  It doesnt sound like its going through the POST either.. I dont know if computers do that anymore thou;gh haha..
If you did, did you change to another piece of RAM to test?
I have no more DDR to put in, only SDRam and im sure that wont work..  I tried moving to different slots, 1 3 and 4 thinking maybe it was backwords i dunno...  Didnt do anything, and you USED to be able to take the ram out and still boot into bios etc...
Did you change any settings in your BIOS?
I havent even gotten video, nada... Black screen.
What is the wattage of the PSU you are using now?
Where do i find the wattage? The watts on the case is uh... 350 or 400 one of the two... The case says USB Deluxe P4 Case... And the watts on the Power supply is 115 if thats what you were wondering... Hope that answer the question

  • Out of memory detected in log.xml

    Hi,
Our db version is 11.1.0.7.0 and in log.xml we see out of memory error like this
Out of memory detected in /u01/app/oracle/admin/diag/rdbms/ABCD/alert/log.xml at time/line number: Tue Feb 15 03:09:11 2011/54933.
    Alert log file looks ok.
    How to prevent this?

You need to provide more information than that. I presume you got this from the OEM alert.
Try looking in /u01/app/oracle/admin/diag/rdbms/ABCD/ABCD/trace/alert_ABCD.log and look at any entries for February 15th. That might point you in the right direction.

The system only passes POST after clearing CMOS.  When I load the default BIOS settings, the system hangs when it gets to the Memory Detection step of POST.  I have tried different memory sticks and even motherboards with the same results.  This seems to be a BIOS settings issue.  Any Ideas???

I have tried 2.  Mushkin (Samsung chips) with a heat sink.  The other was oem and the chips are also Samsung.  Same problem with both.
The Mushkin works fine in another system.

    HI Josh,
I have seen this in almost every 3.X log. We've looked into this and found that it's nothing to worry about. If things are running slow, you'll need to look in another direction.

Sapinst stopped at step 35 (or 36) - "Start Java engine"
jcontrol would not start and dev_jcontrol shows this error message - "JdkDetection_nnnn.class not found"
    Our environment:
      Windows 2003
      Oracle 10.2.0.4
      Solution Manager 7.01 EhP1 SR3
      JDK - 1.4.2_24 rev-b06
    JAVA_HOME=D:\java\j2sdk1.4.2_24
    ORACLE_HOME=D:\oracle\SID\102
    SAPEXE=D:\usr\sap\SID\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64
    checked SAP notes:
943602   Analysis of errors within the startup of J2EE Engine 7.0
940893   Analysis of errors within the startup of J2EE Engine 6.40
718901   How to change the JDK of the J2EE Engine

741289   Profile parameters of the J2EE Engine are lost
    943498   J2EE Engine does not start 6.40 and 7.0
There were some solutions that suggested giving "ALL" permissions to the SIDADM and SAPServiceSID users to the disk drives that we are installing the software on - we did that as well, but it did not help us. Java engine won't just start. jcontrol would just die with the same error.
After spending enormous number of hours sifting through very few documents found on this error - I got fed up and here is what I did when I got the "JdkDetection_nnnn.class not found" error:
    1. Logged in to the server as SIDADM
    2. Opened a windows command prompt
    3. ran this command  --   jcontrol pf=D:\usr\sap\SID\SYS\profile\SID_DVEBMGS00_hostname
    4. waited for 15mins
    5. Restarted sapinst
    6. Continued successfully
I am thinking that jcontrol was having a difficult time to start for the first time at Step 35 (or 36) during sapinst. When I started it on the command line with just the profile as the parameter - it pulled in all the required configuration from the database and started the dispatcher and server successfully. After that - installation went on smoothly.
    Hope this helps.

  • 4630 dial tone detection fail

Getting a Dial Tone Detection fail on my 4630. The line has a dial tone through a phone. Anyone ever see this before?

    Hi @PTrietschChaney,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that you are getting a dial tone detection fail with your HP Officejet 4630. I am happy to look into this issue for you!
For further assistance, I have a few questions for you:
Is your phone service analog or digital? Analog. Digital. What’s the Difference?
If the phone service is analog, please see this guide, Cannot Send or Receive Faxes. If the phone service is digital, then see this guide, How to connect your HP Fax Device to an ISDN, ADSL, PBX, or VoIP line. HP fax devices are designed to work with traditional analog phone services. They are not designed to work with digital phone services such as ADSL, PBX, ISDN, or VoIP. While HP fax products are not supported on these types of lines, they might work given appropriate setup and equipment.
For future reference, here is your printer's user guide.

how can i determine required charset (and what charset should be used)?
    note:
i far as i know, i can not predict what would be the charset used by the sender.

    Use UTF-8 for ABAP proxy.
Change the charset inside your adapter module.

Just discovered that I once saved this bug here: https://www.cisco.com/cisco/psn/bssprt/bss?searchType=bugIdSearch&bugId=CSCtz91443
They write since around today that it's finally fixed. Maybe this actually also fixes our issue here. Sadly there isn't yet a version given in which it's fixed.

  • MS-7512 Ver 1.1 stuck at memory detection test

Been using this machine for a good year now:
    P45 Platinum MS-7512 ver 1.1
    2x 2GB OCZ PC2 8500 [email protected]
    Intel Q9550
    Asus HD4850
It has very minor rebooting/stability issues, but nothing that can't be fixed with a reboot.
But yesterday it went into a constant cycle of rebooting: it will try to boot, then reset itself and boot again, without POSTing properly.
I cleared the CMOS and now it's stuck at the memory detection test: no beeps, no display, but fans and leds are all working.
    I've done the following:
    - disconnected all HDDs and peripherals
    - clearing the CMOS multiple times (also tried removing the CMOS batt)
    - reseated the gfx card and RAM
    - moved RAM to DIMM 1 & 3, instead of the original DIMM 2 & 4 (in the initial building, the machine didn't POST when I had my RAM sticks in 1 & 3; it worked on 2 & 4, so I didn't think much of it)
    - one stick of RAM on DIMM 1
    - tried a single stick of my friend's Kingston RAM on DIMM 1
    Any more ideas?
I'll be borrowing another gfx card for testing; I just hope it's not the motherboard I have to replace.

What PSU are you using? Please list out the PSU specs and amps.
I'm using the PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 Quad
    Quote
According to the label, the PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 Quad will deliver 224 amps on the +3.3V rail and 30 amps on the +5V rail, for a total combined power output of 170W. There is one single 12V rail, and it outputs up to 60 amps! As we mentioned, the Silencer 750 Quad's wattage rating is a Sustained Output Value, not Peak. There is a big difference. The Silencer 750 Quad can reach a max of 825W during peak loads.

  • HP Pavilion g6-2330dx. "No Boot Device. Insert boot disk and press any key" Memory test failed

Hi. So I am trying to help a friend with her laptop. It's a HP Pavilion g6-2330dx.
    Product #: D1C01UA#ABA
    Serial #: [Personal Information Removed]
    Windows 8
    ADATA 4GB RAM
Toshiba 640GB HDD from the looks of it.
The laptop is unable to boot into Windows, so I suspect the hard drive. But I ran the hard drive test and it passed all the tests. The SMART test and both the short and long test. I ran the tests multiple times and it passed each time. I tried reseating the hard drive and still no go. I also removed the HDD and connected it to my desktop PC to see if it detects and it did. Ran the Windows 7 own HDD test and it passed.
Currently, there doesnt seem to be any operating system at all on the HDD. When I check, there is a C: drive of ~90GB partition that is ~90GB free, but inside there are Windows files/folders. There is also a D: drive Recovery partition that says ~26GB with only ~2GB free, but when I go inside there's only ~350MB worth of data.
So then I ran the memory test (in BIOS) and it failed immediately. I reseated the RAM module. I tried the other slot. It still failed. So is it safe to say the memory is the cause of this problem?
Pressing the F11 key that is supposed to take me to the System Recovery only leads me back to the black screen with "No Boot Device. Insert boot disk and press any key"
I even tried to install Windows 7 to see if it'll work. I was able to get the laptop to boot/read off the Windows 7. But when I click to install, it asks for a boot device driver or something like that.
My friend doesn't have the recovery disk either. I guess she lost it.
Anyway, is it as simple as replacing the memory or could it actually be the HDD (even though it passes)?
EDIT: This is what the System Log in BIOS says
    0021           Time: 10/13/2014
    03F0           Time: 10/13/2014
    03F0           Time: 10/13/2014
The date was the first time I ran the tests. I havent received those numbers (error codes?) since.
EDIT: Just for kicks, I ran Memtest 2.11 just now (forgot I had the disc) and it immediately went red with thousands of errors, hah.

    Hi bghs,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
It is a fantastic place to find answers and information.
For you to have the best experience in the HP forum I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide Learn How to Post and More
I understand that you were unable to boot into Windows,  and you suspected the hard drive and tested it, but it passed both short and long test.  With that being said and the fact that it also passed  leads me to believe the hard drive is fine.
You tested the memory and it failed.  You tried reseating and swapping slots but they  still failed the test.
I would test each card individual with the memtest to determine if it is just one or both cards that have an issue.
When you installed it in another computer, you did see the recovery partition.  Once the memory issue is resolved, if you are still unable to boot into Windows, I suggest you do a recovery with the minimized image.   Here is a link to Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8) to assist you with that process.
    I hope this helps.

  • Memory test fail on G4, won't boot

Our school has two labs and one is using all older G4 computers. ONe of the towers is a G4 with 768MB of RAM and is the AGP 733mhz model. It is running 10.4.1. It no longer boots. It has not booted in about three months. I finally have time to try and fix it. For some reason, it would only try to boot into OS9. But once it got there it would hang on the folder with the flashing apple face and question mark. Putting in a OS9 startup disk helped, but the internal HD would not mount. Putting in a Jaguar, Tiger or Panther OS disc would not boot either. It would still go immediately to the OS9 flashing folder. Again, the OS9 boot disc does work, but prior to showing the desktop, it gives this error, "The built in memory test has detected a problem. Please contact a service technician." Does this mean that until the internal memory is fixed, this computer will never boot or is this just another minor problem that does not relate to the boot issue? I tried to trick the system but using Carbon Copy on an identical computer and copying that OS to another , new internal hard drive. I took that hard drive and replaced the one in the defective G4. It did start the boot into OS 10.4.1, but it kept freezing after a while. And now, that same, new HD is booting to the OS9 flashing folder. So, do I go it alone with your help or just send this G4 out for repair?

    Hi, Ted -
The problem would appear to be with the RAM.
If any RAM was added to the machine after it was shipped by Apple (that includes RAM added by a reseller), try removing that RAM, retaining at least one module, ideally at least 128MB and Apple-sourced. If necessary, borrow a 128MB RAM module from another machine and use it.
If it boots, then by trial and error you may be able to narrow down which module is the culprit.
    <hr>
Another possibility is that since the machine was not booted for so long, and especially if it had been left unplugged for most of that time, the internal battery has failed. This can also happen with time - the life expectancy of those is about 5 years under best-case situations. A too-weak or dead battery can cause booting problems.
Try replacing the battery. You can get a replacement at places like Radio Shack for about US$16, cheaper on-line.
