Memory efficiency LOW !"!"! :O
Well.. in my hunt for explaining my low system performance, i noticed that in sisoft sandra 2002 sp1 that my menory efficiency was wery low.
int buffered memory efficiency = 88 (1924 Mb/sec)
float buffered memory efficiency = 74 (1603Mb/sec)
I controled them with a friend, having the same system, except that he have asus a7v333 aru raid
he has
int buffered memory efficiency = 96
float buffered memory efficiency = 93
both of us uses the standart setup in bios..
my system is:
2000+
Msi kt3 ultra
512 Mb pc 2700
palit geforce 4 ti 4200
3com 3c505
2 * 80 gig maxtor fluid (133)
any suggestions
Nope... it's bios settings..
I sat them to default settings, and then started with changing the ram settings.. now my efficiency is 95%/90%.. so.. work at it.. there is some performance to catch..

Hello.
We're running a NW6.5.8 machine on a HP Proliant ML350 G3. The server works
well since several years. Three weeks ago the server makes some problems.
After restarting the machine the memory runs low after 3 or for days. I
can't see a reason for this.
Do you have an idea for this?
Here is my config.txt of this machine:

; This is a sample of the slp configuration file.
; Two types of entries can be made: 1) DA entries, 2) SA Register Filters.
; The DA entry allows static configuration of a known DA. This would be
used
; when the DA was out of multicast range and DHCP was not being used to
; configure the DA.
; The static DA configuration format is as follows 'DA <addr type>,
<addr>'.
; The first word must be "DA". The addr type is the address type.
Currently, only
; IPV4 has been defined. IPV6 will be defined in the future. The addr is
; the address specified.
; The following is an example of a static DA.
; DA IPV4, 130.1.1.1
; The SA Register Filter would be used when the administrator wanted all
services
; of a specific service type being mapped to a single scope. For example,
; the administrator wanted all "lpr" printers being registered to scope
"printer".
; The format is as follows: 'REGISTER TYPE "<type name>" to SCOPE "<scope
name>"'.
; The parser will look for REGISTER, TYPE, and SCOPE as keywords followed
by quote on
; a single line. Example:
; REGISTER TYPE "lpr" to SCOPE "eng"
; The last line must contain a line feed and char return. A semi-colon
specifies a
; comment.

; This is a sample of the slp configuration file.
; Two types of entries can be made: 1) DA entries, 2) SA Register Filters.
; The DA entry allows static configuration of a known DA.
A semi-colon
specifies a
; comment.

As mentioned in my question above, it happens usually during playing games. I wondered if there were someway to clean out the virtual memory, as opposed to it "increasing" continually and overloading my memory in general. You are speaking with a computer novice for the most part, so I am unfamiliar with a lot. I do do updates and general maintenance on the computer, but is that enough for this issue?
Your plugins list shows outdated plugin(s) with known security and stability risks.
* Shockwave Flash 10.0 r45
Update the [[Flash]] plugin to the latest version.

Physical memory is the memory that is installed on your computer as real memory. To be able to run programs that require more memory and more programs at the same time (via time sharing and task switching) it is also possible to move (swap) currently not needed code and data to disk to make room for other programs and data. The total memory available for programs is the Virtual Memory.
You can check the Virtual Memory settings here: Control Panel > System > Advanced > Performance > Settings (Advanced tab)<br />
Windows can manage more memory then is physical available and that memory is stored in a page file on your hard drive.
If the size of that file is not large enough and all available memory is in use then you get the Virtual Memory is low warning.
Make sure that you have at least 1 GB or the recommended setting for the Virtual Memory.
If you have less than 1 GB physical memory installed on your computer then if possible add more memory.

Memory Efficiency of BufferedImage and ImageIO
This thread discusses the memory efficiency of BufferedImage and ImageIO. I also like to know whether if there's possible memory leak in BufferedImage / ImageIO, or just that the result matches the specifications. Any comments are welcomed.
My project uses a servlet to create appropriate image tiles (in PNG format) that fits the specification of google map, from images stored in a database. But it only takes a few images to make the system out of heap memory. Increasing the initial heap memory just delays the problem. So it is not acceptable.
To understand why that happens, I write a simple code to check the memory usage of BufferedImage and ImageIO. The code simply keeps making byte arrays from the same image until it is running out of the heap memory.
Below shows how many byte arrays it can create:
1M jpeg picture (2560*1920):
jpeg = 123
png = 3
318K png picture (1000*900):
jpeg = 1420
png = 178
Notice that the program runs out of memory with only 3 PNG byte arrays for the first picture!!!! Is this normal???

img.flush();
ByteArrayOutputStream out =
new ByteArrayOutputStream();
ImageIO.write(img, "png", out); // change to "jpeg" for jpeg
images.add(out.toByteArray());
out.close();
} catch (OutOfMemoryError ome) {
System.err.println(images.size());
throw ome;
} catch (Exception exc) {
exc.printStackTrace();
System.err.println(images.size());
}a_silent_lamb wrote:
1. For the testing program, I just use the default VM setting, ie. 64M memory so it can run out faster. For server, the memory would be at least 256M.You might want to increase the heap size.
2. Do you mean it's 2560*1920*24bits when loaded? Of course.
That's pretty (too) large for my server usage, Well you have lots of image data
because it will need to process large dimension pictures (splitting each into set of 256*256 images). Anyway to be more efficient?Sure, use less colors :) -
Building Query in Pre-Query. How to make it more Memory Efficient
Hello all,
I have a form with 2 Data Blocks.
First Block is used for giving query Parameters and second one returns the results based on a View.
I build the Select Clause in the pre-query based on the Parameters. So every time I have a Different Query.
Could that create problem in the Database Server due to parsing queries again and again?
Would using a Different approach (i.e. ref Cursors) be more memory Efficient?
ThanksThe pre-query is quite Large so I am pasting only a part of the Code (the rest of it Is Identical).
In the selects v is the alias of the View of the Second Data Block.
The :qf_ bind variables are fields of the First block where I give the Parameters.

802.1x caused Switch to hang - Memory too low
Hi all,
Anyone experienced this before while turning on flex authentication (802.1x, MAB, Web Auth), causing the switch too hang. When the switch hang, I can't even telnet to switch or even console into the switch. The message I am getting from the console is "Memory too low, please try again later".
It happens weeks after 802.1x was enable on the switch, can anyone share their experience on this? Thanks.Any luck with this??
We have quite a few 4500's doing the same thing. -
Memory efficient conversion of cmyk jpeg to rgb jpeg
I'm looking for a memory efficient way to convert a jpeg image from cmyk to rgb.
I can't load the whole image in memory. The image is too big (I already have a lot of ram).
Do you know how to do it? Would you share it with us?
At the end of this thread (http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9625078) I show how to do it when loading the whole image in memory. But that's not what I'm looking for. May be you can find a better way to achieve a similar output.Can you show me how it would look like? 1. SInce CMYK is 4 bytes per pixel the byte array size is w*h*4 which is bigger than w*h*3, so there is no problem to use the same array.
As you can see from this line:raster = Raster.createInterleavedRaster(new DataBufferByte(rgb, rgb.length), w, h, w * 3, 3, new int[]{0, 1, 2}, null);You are passing the size of the array to the DataBufferByte constructor and also to the createInterleavedRaster, so you can use an array with bigger size and just pass w*h*3 instread of rbg.length to DataBufferByte constructor.
2. You can acces the buffer directly instead of using raster.getSamples which creates a new array and places the values in it:
Instead of this:
int c = 255 - C;
int m = 255 - M[i];
int y = 255 - Y[i];
int k = 255 - K[i];
Do this:
int c = 255 - data[i*4];
int m = 255 - data[i*4+1];
int y = 255 - data[i*4+2];
int k = 255 - data[i*4+3]; -

Cannot print from Chrome on MacBook Pro "memory is low" error
When I Command-P or File-Print from within Chrome, I get a red blinking light on my HP Laserjet Pro 200 Color M451dw printer, and the printer says "memory is low, job canceled." This same page and many others print fine from Safari. Why not from Chrome!
There's a problem between HP's internal code and the Google Chrome browser.
The workaround is simple and quicker than what I was doing before.
Here's the most common way people print documents in Chrome
1) Choose File - Print (or use print icon in Google Docs)...this will bring up the Print Dialogue Box
2) When the Print box comes up DO NOT click the PRINT button.
3) Look a the bottom of the Left side to find the "Print using system dialogue..."
4) click that instead
5) choose print options and then print
A faster way to do all of this is to use the short cut key combo (mine is ⌥⌘P)
That's the key combination of Option+Command+P ..... PRESSED ALL AT THE SAME TIME!
Choose your print options and print
Hope this helps. -
Memory is low. Job cancelled. Press OK to continue.
Hello everyone
I've looked high and low for an answer to this and I thought I figured it out but the issue has come back.
I bought a HP HP LaserJet 400 M401dw from ebay.
When the printer arrived I connected it wirelessly and turned on duplex printing. I printed my first page and it worked great until now (about 2 weeks later)
The same issue has come back from when duplex was on.
It says:
"Memory is low. Job cancelled. Press OK to continue."
It prints the first page sometimes and not the other.
You can see from below the memory looks ok???
Any idea why?
I am running the latest OSX 10.10.2.
Many thnks.

I read your post and see that you are getting a "Low Memory" error when trying to print. I will certainly do my best to help you.
Check the driver name that is installed for the printer. Make sure it shows just the printer's name.
Click the Apple menu and then click System Preferences. Click Printers & Scanners, highlight the printer name on the left side and on the right side of the screen it should show the printer's name. (Laserjet M276)
If the full printer name isn't listed correctly, delete it and add the printer name back in from the list. Click the - sign to delete the driver and then click the + sign to add the driver, you might have to click the drop down to select the printer's name to add it in.
Try printing again.
I have provided the steps for setting up the printer through IP Protocol if the issue persists, which has resolved other "Low Memory" errors.
Print a Configuration page to get the printer's IP address. HP LaserJet Pro 200 Color MFP M276n and MFP M276nw - Printing a Configuration Report.
Delete the printer from Printers and Scanners.
Click on the + button, select the IP Protocol across the top, type in the printer's IPv4 address, select Jet Direct below and then Apply.
Try printing again.
For scanning though, you will have to select the Bonjour printer.
If you are still having issues, try the reset which I will send you in a private message.
In the forum beside your handle name just click on the envelope to view it.
Please let me know the outcome.
Have a nice day!
Thank You.

Hi wbarattino and misterperov,
Please bear with me as I'm not supporting much of business printers but I found a similar article on HP Business Forums.
I also found this article (although it's a Color LJ 2600n printer) from the HP Business Support Center site.
Hope this helps both of you!

I have plenty of space on phone but it keeps saying I'm low on memoryMemory is the RAM, not the Storage space, you're thinking of the Storage space that gets used up when you download a movie or something, the notification is about the RAM, which is used to temporarily store information so it can be accesses faster, the iPhone 3GS has 512 MB of RAM, my iPhone 4 has been saying that now and then since I updated to iOS 5, so it's been a while.
I don't think there is anything you can do about it, except for closing apps, by double tapping the home button and tapping and holding on an app to enable wiggle mode, then tapping the red button to close them. This frees up memory, which should prevent the notification and may even speed up other things on your iPhone. -
