Memory expansion on BestBuy

Guys:
i need to expand a client's white macbook (Apple MacBook 2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (13-inch White) MB062LL/A Laptop/Notebook) and i've recommended Crucial to do this but they ask for a lot of papers and stuff before buying and i had it with them for now....
I've found this memory on bestbuy
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7644196&type=product&id=1134699426 321
Will it work OK with the MacBook.... I was wondering because it doesn't says that it's 100% compatible so i need your advice.
Thanks so much for helping me again!
Cheers!! (B)
PS: The macbook is under Tiger 10.4.11 and currently has 1gb of ram installed in pair (512/512)

You don't need to buy directly from Crucial. Crucial memory is sold by some retailers including Newegg. Here are some compatible units (CT2KIT12864AC667, CT2KIT25664AC667, and CT25664AC667).

  • How to upgrade memory expansion on Satellite A100-192

please i need help because i can't take the cover off to install the memory expansion. thanks in advance.

    Hi
I dont know why you are not able to remove this cover but it should be secured only with one screw and after removing of this screw you should simply remove this cover which was placed in the middle of the bottom.
Thats all. There is no magic key.

  • ThinkCentre M72e Mini Tower (0967-A7U) RAM Memory Expansion

My first posted question was worded badly. As I understand it there are two RAM memory slots. I currently have 2 X 2 GBs of RAM installed. I am wondering if I can remove the current memory and install a single 8GB module in only one of the slots. This is in the event that I want to upgrade again in the future to 16 BGs by adding another 8GB module. Or, should I just get 2 X 4 GBs? I guess I'm not sure if only using one of the slots will impeed performance somehow..
    Thanks,

My brother has a high end laptop with a built in, high end gaming video card (I forget which one). He's able to run the game on full-on Ultra.
I have an integrated video card which games the game on.. 'cartoon'.. mode. It's lower then low. When someone shoots a powerful spell at me, I go into a DOS Prompt. (not really, but it's pretty bad).
Funny thing is, I can still kick my brother's butt in any PVP match he wants to set up.
But I guess his graphics are pretty....
As for which video card works best, I'd have to do some research. After that graphics update they did with CAT,  it's kind of a toss up again.

  • Memory expansion on Satellite 2410

    Hi
I am planning to expand the memory of my Satellite 2410-601. It has 256 MB DDR at present. I am planning on using one more 256 memory module to expand the total memory to 512 MB.
What I would like to know is whether I can use any of the DDR memory modules available in market? Would there be any compatibility issues?

    Hi
    Do you know this site?
    http://www.orcalogic.co.uk/asp/prodtype.asp?prodtype=5548&ft=m&st=3
Here you can find the details about compatible memory modules for Satellite 2410-601.
It seems that the notebook is able to handle the 200-Pin PC2100 (266MHz) DDR SODIMM memory modules!!!
You could upgrade the memory up to max 1GB (2x 512MB)
    >Would there be any compatibility issues?
Generally you shouldnt have any compatibility issues. Its only important that you use the supported modules.

  • Question about memory expansion on Satellite A80-117

I have a question regarding the memory compatibility.
(The A8-117 is a 1.6 GHz Centrino (Pentuin M processor 730) with 533 MHz FSB, and 2 MB of 2nd level cache, Intel® 915GM Express chipset)
At the moment i have 1 chip of 512MB (333MHz, CL 2.5) installed. I plan to upgrade to 1.5 or 2GB. So what bothers me is: can I install a 533MHz DDR2 modules on this laptop (in that case the old 333MHz one goes out)?
At the official Toshiba site only 333MHz DDR are provided, while the 915GM express chipset allowes it.
If 533 is not possible i guess i'll just buy additional 1GB of 333MHz DDR.
    Thanks in advance!
    Bostjan

    Hello
At first I want to say that is always recommended to use compatible and tested RAM modules. On this way you will be sure it will work well and without any problems.
According the notebook specification you can upgrade RAM to 2GB max and compatible modules are: PC2700 512MB (PA3312U-2M51) and PC2700 1024MB (PA3313U-2M1G).
You can use faster RAM modules but for me it is really not necessary. The notebook specification is 333MHz bus speed and faster modules will not help that notebook runs faster. It is better to buy 2 x PA3313U-2M1G and you will have no problem and notebook will runs much much faster than before.

  • Memory expansion for Satellite A200-23W

Wonder if i can upgrade the memory (now 2 x 2GB in 667) with two others in 800 mhz..

    Hello
You can upgrade the RAM with 800 MHz modules but as far as I know this will not improve the speed and the RAM will only run at 667 MHz.
The reason for this is that the chipset doesnt support 800 MHz.
The Satellite A200-23W supports up to 4GB so any upgrades are not necessary.

  • Memory expansion for Satellite 1110-Z15 laptop

    Hi,
I would like to upgrade the memory in my Satellite 1110-Z15 laptop and have been trying to find a list of approved memory manufacturers from toshiba, with no luck.
Does anyone know of any approved manufacturers for toshiba laptops as i cannot find the type of memory required on the toshiba electronic components site?
    Thanks,
    Sherbert

    Hello Sherbert
I have found information that your notebook can handle with 512 Mb max. I suppose that your unit has 256 MB already. You can use second 256 MB module and put it in a second slot.
Part number for 256 MB memory module is PA3127U-1M25.

  • Memory expansion on Equium A60

Hi there Im very new to any kind of upgrade so excuse the daft question Im about to ask.
My Equium A60s running a tad slow so Im looking to get some more memory. If I buy new memory, say 512MB, would my laptop use this 512MB addition to the 256mb you cant remove or does it replace it?
ie would I have 768MB of memory or 512?
Also is there anything I need to be wary of when looking for memory, would something of this description work?
    "512MB DDR SODIMM PC2100 266mhz 200pin Memory Module"
    Thanks

    Hello
I have found info that your unit has 256 MB internal memory. One additional slot is available and there you can use max 1GB module because your unit can handle with 1280MB max.
Compatible modules for your unit are:
    PC2700 256MB (PA3311U-1M25)
    PC2700 512MB (PA3312U-1M51)
    PC2700 1024MB (PA3313U-1M1G)
Check please part number and it will be easy to find them on the net.
    Bye

  • Memory Expansion on Envy Touchsmart 14-K111nr

Wanting to expand memory on laptop from installed 8GB to 16GB. Specifications state maximum allowed memory capacity is 16GB. Laptop does not recognize 16GB (2 x 8GB - DDR3 1600 12800 SODIMMs) but only recognizes 12GB (1 x 8GB and 1 x 4GB). Any guidance on how to resolve this will be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Vineet

I think there's nothing to be done for that in BIOS.
There at different views on the use of DDR3 instead of the one listed compatible for your system
    http://forum.crucial.com/t5/Standard-DRAM-Memory-Knowledge/1-35v-1-5v-Dual-Voltage-DDR3-memory/ta-p/...
Since laptop's are very specific & compact , I suggest you go for DDR3 L type & don't take chances.

  • Installing 64bit OS and memory expansion

Can installing a 64bit OS on a R61-5KM allow me to expand the allowable memory within the unit. I currently have WinXP Pro and I know that even though I have installed 4GB of ram, the OS can only work with 3GB, even though the BIOS states that I have 4GB... this doesn't aply to UNIX varient OS's has I have tried 32Bit Debian and it sees the full 4GB. My question is however, if I wish to later on upgrade to a 64bit OS... NOT WINDOWS flavoured, does the hardware permit me to install more ram? thanks

Yes, a R61 will take up to 8GB DDR2-RAM (which is currently quite costly)

  • K9AGM Memory expansion trouble

    Hello,
I am having trouble with a couple of machines when attempting to increase memory:
    Machine #1
    K9AGM-F BIOS V3.3
    AMDX2 3800+
WD 160 Gib  SATA II HD
    LG CD-DVD R/RW
    3 1/2 diskette drive
    MSI PC60G Wi-Fi card.
    Memory (initial): 2x 1 Gib CORSAIR DDR2 667 MHz
    400 W PSU
    Windows XP x64 SP2
Worked without problem for about 1 year.
Replaced memory by 2x 2 Gib KINGSTON DDR2 800 MHz. The machine freezes after a few minutes, usually when updating screen. Putting only one DIMM (any one) in any slot works OK.
    Machine#2
    Everything equal except:
    AMD 3200+ (single core)
Initial memory: 2x 512 Mb CORSAIR 667 MHz
    Dual boot: Windows XP x64 SP2 & Solaris 10
Here, tried to add the two 1 Gib DIMMS from the first machine, same problem in Windows. With Solaris, Gnome refuses to start. Tried exchanging bank #1 and #2, same results. Leaving only one pair of DIMMS, works OK.
I updated BIOS to latest version (3.5) and MB drivers, just in case, but no luck.
Seems like it is refusing to accept more than 2 Gib. Some advice?
    Thanks in advance,
    Fernando

  • Yet another question on memory expansion for the G5.This one is really cool

I currently own a G5 2Ghz (8 DIMM sockets model) that I would like to add memory to. I have done my research (in this forum and elsewhere) and have found that what I need is DDR400 SDRAM (PC3200) memory.
    Now here the 2 questions:
    (1) Must I expand in pairs (i.e. must I for example add 2*512, or can I go with 1*1GB), and
    (2) Are there differences between PC memory and Apple memory modules that disqualify installing PC memory modules (with the same specifications as required, i.e. DDR400 SDRAM (PC3200)) into an Apple? I ask the question b/c PC memory modules are cheaper than their Apple counterparts but both have the same specifications (I compared PC and Apple memory modules on www.crucial.com). I can't shake the idea that differentiating PC and Apple memory modules is only a marketing sham.
All insight into the matter is welcome.
    Cheers,

    I have the 2 x 1GB in this March 04 DP2 - no problems - so far.
As OS X seems to get more picky about RAM with each update, you may wish to consider the importance of a no-quibble guarantee...

  • Memory problem on a Lenovo 3000 0769-BAG

    Hi !
I own this nice machine, and put into it a Linux 64 bits OS. (Fedora 7).
Everything is working fine, but I needed more memory to be able to scan/process large images.
So I went to Lenovo web site and saw I needed PC2-5300 Sodimm memory. For a maximum of 4GB.
I've bought 2 Sodimm labelled like that : 2GB DDR2-667Mhz-CL5 based upon 16 chips labelled PR128MB-3 "Made in Taiwan" ...
So I removed the 2 512MB modules and put the 2 2GB modules. The BIOS see them and count up to 4096 GB. Fine.
But after POST, Nothing happens. No beep no disk activity, no nothing. The message "Press F1 to enter BIOS or F12 for boot menu " disapears, the cursor goes on the upper left corner and that's it.
So I removed the first 2GB module and put an original 512 MB instead. The machine boots fine, I'm able to successfully test the RAM either with the Vista boot menu option or the Memtest which came with Fedora.
I've swapped the 2 GB module and done the very same test. OK. So I'm pretty confident on the operation of the 2 2GB modules. Vista and Fedora proudly announce near 2.5 GB of memory (depending of the shared memory assigned to the Intel Graphic card)
If I put the 2 GB module on the first slot, and the 512 MB atop, the machine refuses to boot.
So, Either there is a problem with my memory modules, or there is a problem accessing the maximal capacity using 2GB modules ? What do you think and what should I do ?
    TIA !
Oh, BTW the BIOS is 68ET21WW (V1.05)

    Very curious indeed!
You mention you have BIOS V1.05, the latest on Lenovo is V1.02 but with the same number 68ET21WW that you have. Typo?
Are there any memory settings in BIOS that you can play with?
Put in a 512/2GB combo, go to this webpage from Crucial, scroll down and have it scan your system.
Repeat with the other 2GB. What are the results?, are those 2GB sticks what they are supposed to be?
As you run Linux, I am at a dead end here, no knowledge.
I assume you have installed (not just downloaded) all the Lenovo updates for Windows?
A 32-bit OS can only address 3GB, so 4GB would be a waste.
A 64-bit OS (both Linux and XP or Vista) should be able to work with 4GB.
Can you borrow a 1GB stick and see if it works with 3GB?
    EDIT:
After hunting around on the web, it seems that there is a RAM limit for the Lenovo 3000 N100.
Also, Lenovo says this on their website:
1 GB (footnote 4) (2-512 MB DIMMS) PC2-5300 DDR2 667 MHz memory, expandable with optional SDRAM SO DIMM module to a maximum 2.0 GB (footnote 5)
    Support Center: 800-426-7378
4: For PCs without a separate video card, memory supports both system and video. Accessible system memory is up to 128 MB less than the amount stated, depending on video mode.
5: Memory options up to 1024 MB PC5300 DDR2 SDRAM SO DIMM can be added for maximum memory expansion.I picked up somewhere that some BIOSes test for an original Lenovo RAM stick, but could not find this reference again.
If you get that 1GB + 2GB working, that will be the max, otherwise hope for a new BIOS that will allow for 4GB.
On Buy.com (sells Kingston RAM), several users reported success with 2x 1GB Kingston RAM.

  • Memory upgrade on a Satellite Pro 4270XDVD

    Hello,
I need some help. I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro 4270XDVD Notebook. I want to increase my memory as I have only the 64 megs that come with it. When I open the back of the computer to check the memory slots there are 2 empty ones. There is a Slot A and B. The problem is Slot A is broken. The 2 clips that hold the memory in are missing. Someone broke them off. Memory Slot B looks okay and I can put a stick of memory in it. The problem is my manual says not to use slot B if slot A is empty. Do you know why this is? Also is there any way of fixing the clips in Slot A without replacing the whole motherboard.
    Thanks for your help,
    Brad

    Hi Webmonkey
I think You can use slot B without any problem. If You have the memory expansion already then just try to insert it and check it out.
Normally on Toshiba notebooks there is no difference in priority between the memory slots.
Please note: I can not guarantee this for all models - but I say this from experience on some of them.
