Memory issue as we run a simple application...

Hi Experts,
  We developed an application in portal (EP7 sp 16, Linux, Oracle 10g) to connect to BW run a query ,base of users input, bring the result and show to user. This is some detail about our application:
1)     WebDynpro : The application is developed using SAP WebDynpro. The selection screen and Data output are developed using standard SAP WDP components.
2)     BW Call: Once user put the selection parameter and submit the request, SAP EP (WDP) makes a call to SAP BW Web Service (Query_view_data) using Adaptive WebService Model in the WebDynpro.
3)     Data Manipulation:- Once the data is returned from the web service (in the complex XML format) the web dynpro controller renders through XML and convert the data into table context. The table context is mapped to the view table where user can see the data with 20 records per page.
4)     Once the user has used the data the context node will be cleared.
The problem is as soon as we run the application(call a query), it took lots of memory in Portal server(2 G)and continuing to hit the max heap size once in every 90-120 minutes.
Do you think , there is any way to engage less memory.
Thanks

Hi,
With 2G, you mean that you application is occupying 2 GB or RAM or that the whole Server Node is using 2 GB? If it's the portal with your application that is using 2GB ... that's not too much.
Have you run the app in a dedicated application server? What's the behaviour there?
Start profiling your application:
Take a close look at step 3. What does really happen during the Data Manipulation? Depending on the size of the returned data and how this data gets analyzed and transformed to HTML this can be the source of your problem.
Did you use a lot of (maybe unecessary) Java imports? When the WebAS first has to load new libraries to the RAM this can eat up your free memory.

Tobias

  • Running JMS simple application from java standalone program stucks

    Hi All, i`m new to JMS service, and tried to code a simple application from the J2EE guide. They use standalone j2ee client application there, and i did not
    dound any way to debug it from eclipse .. so i have coded following standalone app (not j2ee client JAR) to produce simple messages
    public class producerMain {
         public static void main(String argv[]) throws NamingException, JMSException
              Properties jndiProp = new Properties();
              jndiProp.put(javax.naming.Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,"com.sun.enterprise.naming.SerialInitContextFactory");
              jndiProp.put(javax.naming.Context.PROVIDER_URL, "localhost:3920");
              InitialContext context =new InitialContext(jndiProp);
              ConnectionFactory factory = (ConnectionFactory)context.lookup("sashaConnectionFactory");
              Queue queue = (Queue)context.lookup("jms/Queue");
              System.out.println("Got here");
              Connection connection = factory.createConnection();
    Session session = connection.createSession(
    false,
    Session.AUTO_ACKNOWLEDGE);
    MessageProducer producer = session.createProducer(queue);
    TextMessage message = session.createTextMessage();
    for (int i = 0; i < 5; i++) {
    message.setText("This is message " + (i + 1));
    System.out.println("Sending message: " + message.getText());
    producer.send(message);
    producer.send(session.createMessage());
    producer.close();
    session.close();
    connection.close();
    factory = null;
         context.close();
         System.out.println("Quiting application");
    application works .. it sends a messages .. but it does not quit .. (dozens of new threads get opened, besides the main thread, which quits, but other threads
    does not quit .. and the application stucks .. )
    Does anyone know, why does it stuck .. what are those threads ? and why does not they finish ?
    Thanks, Regards Sasha.

    Thanks.
    changing to
    exp.append("\n");and flushing the writer stream and closing the stream fixed the problem.
    Why do we have to flush the stream?
    and, why do we have to close the writer before reading? what if I want to continue writting in to the writer?
    thanks again.

  • Not enough memory issue while acquiring data

    Hi all,
    I am trying to acquire audio data @ 50KS/s for 20 sec. using the PXI 4498 card in the PXI system. To acquire data I am using the DAQmx functions.
    Step1 : Created DAQmx channel
    Step2: Set the no. of sample to read as 20X50=1000000 to the DAQmx Timing function
    Step3: DAQmx Read funtion to read the data. (Set the timeout as 20x2=40Seconds)
    PLease find the attached screen shot of the block diagram.
    Issue is sometimes I am facing the memory issue when I run this VI. Popup saying that "Not enough memory to complete this Operation"  is getting popup and the Vi getting stop abruptly. Kinldy look into the screen shot and suggest me the apprapriate method to read the data at mentioned acquisition rate.
    Note: The problem is not consistent. Sometimes I am facing the error and sometimes not.
    Thanks in advance

    I think actdi is talking about loading an external database directly from the XML file using the jdbc XML driver, correct? I have not tried this yet, but am curious as to the results.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17904_01/integrate.1111/e12644/appendix_xml_driver.htm#CHDFIJEH
    Hope this works.

  • How do i resolve an issue where i have run out of application memory?

    My imac says i have run out of application memory and that i should quit applications. How do i resolve this issue?

    The message has nothing to do with low disk space.
    There is excessive swapping of data between physical memory (that is, the memory chips on the logic board) and virtual memory (one or more files on the startup volume.) That activity is relatively slow and causes the whole system to be less responsive. It can happen for two reasons:
    A long-running process with a memory leak (a kind of bug)
    Not enough memory for your usage pattern
    Tracking down a memory leak can be difficult, and it may come down to a process of elimination.
    These instructions are for OS X 10.9 ("Mavericks.") The procedure may be slightly different for earlier versions of OS X.
    When you notice the swap activity, open the Activity Monitor application and select All Processes from the View menu, if it's not already selected. Select the Memory tab. Click the heading of the Real Mem column in the process table twice to sort the table with the highest value at the top. If you don't see that column, select
    View ▹ Columns ▹ Real Memory
    from the menu bar.
    If one process (excluding "kernel_task") is using much more memory than all the others, that could be an indication of a leak. A better indication would be a process that continually grabs more and more real memory over time without ever releasing it. Here is an example of how it's done.
    The processes named "Safari Web Content" render web pages for Safari. They use a lot of memory and may leak if certain Safari extensions or third-party web plugins are installed. Consider them prime suspects.
    Another process often implicated in memory leaks is "inkjet4" or "inkjet8," which is a component of the HP printing software. If it's present, force-quit the process in Activity Monitor to solve the problem temporarily. Empty the print queues in the Printers & Scanners preference pane (which has a slightly different name in each recent version of OS X.) If you don't use an HP printer, remove the software. Otherwise, if the problem is recurrent, update the software (which may not help) or contact HP support.
    "Wired" memory should be a small part of the total. That memory is not swapped, but it makes less physical memory available which may then result in swapping. If you have a lot of wired memory, that's usually an indication of a memory leak in a third-party program that modifies the operating system at a low level. Ask for guidance in that case.
    If you don't have an obvious memory leak, your options are to install more memory (if possible) or to run fewer programs simultaneously.
    The next suggestion is only for users familiar with the shell. For a more precise, but potentially misleading, test, run the following command:
    sudo leaks -nocontext -nostacks process | grep total
    where process is the name of a process you suspect of leaking memory. Almost every process will leak some memory; the question is how much, and especially how much the leak increases with time. I can’t be more specific. See the  leaks(1) man page and the Apple developer documentation for details.

    I ve downloaded several times fresh and still the same issue.
    I am not sure how i m missing any missing any classpath or files.

    This is what is happening when i start the integrated weblogic server and run the adf application.

  • I keep getting this notice: "your machine has run out of application memory". Why am I getting this message?

    Why do I keep getting the notice "your machine has run out of application memory"?
    I have a 15" Macbook Pro Retina Display with a 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7; 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3. OS X version 10.9.2.
    I get this warning when I have a lot of programs running. I never had this issue before.

    Well Carolyn
    I feel your answer is a bit glib, since there are numerous post about this problem with Maverick.  I too am having the problem and run very minor applications
    Word, Powerpoint, Safari, AudioNotes.  Nothing which uses a ton of memory, and have gotten this message repeatedly lately.
    I have a Macbook Pro Retina with 2.6 GHz inter i7, and 16GB 1600 MHz DDR3 memory running OS X 10.9.2.
    I am not a techie and would love a simple fix, which doesn't entail me shutting down my computer when it gets stupid.  As above I have not had this problem before either.

  • Application is not working due to memory issue

    Hi Friesnds,
    Kindly help me regarding settings in java. Scenario is like that. I have one server having two jboss versions (jboss-4.2.3 GA and jboss- 3.2.6). Each having java memory (JVM settings) 1 GB. The total memory of that server is 3 GB.
    Problem is that every two days my application is not working due to memory issue. Once i freed the memory (through run the commands - (1). sync
    (2). echo 3 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches
    Application works fine.
    I heared that the above command (echo 3 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches) can't run frequently because of server crash.
    Kindly help me regarding this issue and provide the resolution.
    Let me know if you need more information from my side.
    Thanks
    Ashish Shukla

    All of the above.  I tested on 4 different networks and had no luck, I also had friends test my network and the other networks with their iPhones and all had no issues using FaceTime.
    Also after I wiped my phone (erased all content and settings) I was able to successfully initiate a FaceTime call with no changes to my network and was also able to initiate another call when connected to another previously tested network that didn't work before.  Once I restored from backup though, FaceTime stopped working again.
    I did find this discussion: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5163024?start=0&tstart=0
    and tried the suggestions found there too.  That discussion describes my issue I am having as well.

  • Since I installed Mavericks, the system says it run out of applications memory

    I only have opened Finder (no any other app) but my Mac says "the system has run out of application memory". I don't know what the problem is.
    I have a Late-2011 Macbook Pro with 8 GB of RAM. When I enter to "Activity Monitor" I can see that a process called "mds" use a lot of GB of RAM and 100% of my CPU and also kernel_task uses like 5 to 6 GB of my 8 GB of RAM. I reinstalled the OS and still have the problem.
    If someone can help me, I will be very grateful.
    Thanks in advance and sorry for my english.

    I have a brand new MacBook Pro.  I downloaded Mavericks, and I'm moving my information from my old MacBook Pro via Carbonite to my 2 day old MacBook Pro..  Carbonite tells me to continue to use my system...When I open Safari after a short period of time I get the Out of application memory dialog box.  I also use a Brand New IMac which is not having any problems but am I not using Carbonite until I figure out what the problem is.  So I went to the Activity Monitor and I see Safari using 8.5 GB of memory.  What do I need to do to fix this problem of  Out of application memory. As soon as I "Quit Process" for safari  in the Activity Monitor everything drops back to normal...example kenel_task went to 1.1 GB.  Note Mozella only uses 126 MB of memory.  IS the Issue Safari or something else?

This application is deployed in production and works fine under normal circumstances. But when there is a heavy user load we are facing a memory issue. The memory usage is gradually increasing and when it reaches to max, Full GC kicks in again & again which choks up all requests. We don't save anything in session scope. All our backing beans are saved in request scope hence they should be garbage collected after each request done, but this is not happening.
    We took the heap dump from production after this issue and analyzed it. After my analysis, I found all objects which are set in request object not being garbage collected and the root referers of all these objects is weblogic.servlet.internal.MuxableSocketHTTP.
    I reproduced the similar behaviour in one of our development environment using JMeter. I ran 100 concurrent users in JMeter for almost 1 hour and saw the similar behaviour. Below is the result of all weblogic objects which are still hanging in heap after test was over (I also ran manual Garbage Collector from admin server).
    1) weblogic.servlet.internal.MuxableSocketHTTP - 1774 objects - retained heap (1 GB)
    2) weblogic.servlet.internal.ServletRequestImpl - 1774 objects - retained heap (1 GB)
    My understanding is that every request made to weblogic server goes through the MuxableSocketHTTP object which creates the ServletRequestImpl to serve it. Once the request is served these objects are suppose to be removed. As a result of that whatever is saved in your request will still be hanging.
    I am not able to understand why these objects are hanging after request is done. Could anybody answer to my question. I appreciate your help in advance.
    The GC setting for weblogic server while startup is:
    -XX:MaxTenuringThreshold=15 -XX:+PrintTenuringDistribution -XX:+AggressiveHeap -XX:+PrintGCDetails -XX:+PrintGCTimeStamps -XX:PermSize=128m -XX:MaxPermSize=128m -Xms3g -Xmx3g -XX:NewSize=512m -XX:MaxNewSize=1024m
    Thanks MaKK

    What happened with this issue? We are seeing something similar on WebLogic 9.2 MP1 in Solaris (Jdk 1.5. patch 10. 32 bit). Out of Memory's with thousands if instances of weblogic.socket.MuxableSocket hanging around.
    Our thinking was initally the Java heap, then we thought that maybe the sockets weren't being closed properly, possible in WebLogic or in LiveCycle.
    Any info would be greatly appreciated.

  • 'Your system has run out of application memory'?!

    I've seen many users experiencing this same problem throughout the community, but none of the fixes have given me a permanent solution. Details of the machine are below, as well as what happens when the problem hits/triggers.
    MBP Retina running OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 (occurred in previous versions as well, thought the latest update would help but it didn't)
    15-Inches Mid 2014 with 16 GB of Ram
    Been using this Mac for good 6 months now, and one fine day of normal usage the whole system seems really laggy and slow and all of a sudden i'm unable to access anything and barely move my mouse. Then, a window pops out, telling me "Your system has run out of application memory", gracefully showing me that I have to force quit all my programmes for me to just stare at my desktop in utter disappointment.
    I've been using Yosemite for awhile now (updated few days since the release) and haven't encountered any major issues, this being the first. Reading through many threads many have said that the problem lies with opening the Mail app, yet I haven't touched that app in months. I've also tried resetting the PRAM on my machine when it happens and the problem comes back again after several minutes of normal usage (iTunes, App Store). Checking the memory usage with the Memory Clean app, it tells me I'm down to a measly '15.58 MB' of memory, and it justfluctuates at that until I give it a restart again. This can't keep happening - I can barely use the Mac for 10 minutes without having to restart it, only to be able to use it only again for another 10 minutes.
    Opening Activity Monitor tells me that mds_stores is the main root of the problem, yet I can't seem to shut the process down. I've googled and many say that mds_stores is spotlight indexing, but taking up all 16 GB of ram? That shouldn't be the case. Is there a fix to this? Does Apple know of its existence?
    Included some screenshots below:

    Step 1
    These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
    Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    syslog -F '$Time $Message' -k Sender mdworker -o -k Message Rne Norm -k Sender mds | tail | pbcopy
    Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
    Paste into the Terminal window by pressing the key combination command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
    The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear.
    The output of the command will be automatically copied to the Clipboard. If the command produced no output, the Clipboard will be empty. Paste into a reply to this message.
    The Terminal window doesn't show the output. Please don't copy anything from there.
    If any personal information appears in the output, anonymize before posting, but don’t remove the context.
    Step 2
    Enter the following command as in Step 1 and post the output:
    mdutil -as 2>&- | pbcopy
    You can then quit Terminal.
    Step 3
    Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Terminal. In the Console window, look under the heading DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION on the left for crash reports related to Spotlight. If you don't see that heading, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar. A Spotlight crash report has a name beginning in "mds" or "mdworker" and ending in ".crash". Select the most recent such report, if any, from the System and User subcategories and post the entire contents—the text, please, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
    Please don’t post any other kind of diagnostic report, such as hang logs—they're very long and not helpful.

  • TO NOKIA SUPPORT: Application Manager Memory issue...

    There is a STRANGE memory issue with Application Manager and Nokia N80 device. It's present in both N80 and N80IE and tried with Firmware versions from v3.x to lastest v4.x one.
    When you have installed many programs, tested with more than 150 counting SIS plus JAVA, Application Manager gets unusuable reporting continuosly "Memory Full - Please close apps..." and you can't do anything with it...
    This issue happens even after starting device without any resident app loaded and 14 Mbytes of free RAM so I think this is a limited memory issue available for Application Manager
    A curious thing is that you can Run and Enter Application Manager and installed App list is showed but not complete, it list all the SIS files installed (I think it start to list that type) and then the JAVA ones is cutted and dont appear the full list of installed apps of this type.
    Another curious thing is that if you uninstall a SIS app and Run again Application Manager the list is filled with one more app of JAVA type so this sound like a MEMORY ISSUE or deliberating restricting number of app listed?
    Perhaps app listing could be stored in a temp file and partially loaded in pages so memory don't get overheaded... :-?
    Today with 1 or 2 GB memory cards, this is a SERIOUS ISSUE.
    Please, could you confirm this and point me where to report this issue so it can be solved in future firmware updates?
    Many thanks in advance.

    So hope i.I'm preparing a bug report to post here.Maybe with our reports the new firmwares will be even better...if some Nokia guy is looking at what we're speaking

  • My imac is saying it has run out of application memory. What do I do?

    What do I do for this issue--my iMac (less than 1 year old) is saying that it has run out of application memory.  Does this mean that I have to delete a bunch of applications?  It's running really slow and crashes all the time now and says the applications are "paused" and I need to force quit them.

  • I've updated my Macbook Pro and my iMac with Maverick, updating the various apps. On my Macbook, everything functions perfectly. On my iMac, I get the Your System has Run out of Application Memory, and it's based our Mail, the only app not updated. Ideas?

    Maverick and Your System message
    I've updated my Macbook Pro and my iMac with Maverick, updating the various apps (Pages, Aperture, iPhoto, Numbers & iMovie, too) in the process.
    On my Macbook, everything functions perfectly. On my iMac, I get the Your System has Run out of Application Memory message. But it's not Calendar, it's Mail that not only won't open, but when it does now, it takes the entire system out with it.
    I open Safari, and it works. I open Firefox, and it works and Safari still works. I open Calendar and it works, Safari and Firefox continue to work. I open Reminders, and everything still works.
    I open Aperture, and it opens Finder instead, showing the 3.5 update that was installed two days ago (and Aperture has functioned), but doesn't seem to update the app; after about 20 seconds the update disappears and I can now open Aperture and it shows I'm now opening the updated Aperture, which it didn't show before.
    I click on Mail, and the cursor spins for ten minutes. The mail window finally opens, but the cursor spins and does not connect to upload new mail, and I finally Force Quit Mail. Since the Maverick update, even though Mail was not updated (and maybe because Mail was not updated), I have been able to receive emails twice, and then the program crashed.
    Besides the Aperture app, Pages didn't fully update on the iMac, and I had to remove the old Pages icon from the dock after the new program loaded up from Applications.
    Any ideas?

  • Mavericks Mail Kernel System Has Run Out of Application Memory

    I have a new Mavericks late 2013 MBP.  When I got the computer, I used Migration Assistant to transfer everything from my late 2008 MacBook to the new MBP.  Now when I launch Mail, my memory use skyrockets and within a minute or so, I get a "run out of application memory" error message.  Soon after the computer stops working until I reboot.  Activity Monitor shows Memory Pressure at its redline max, Virtual Memory at about 70 GB, Swap Used 20 GB, Compressed 10 MB.  The processes using all the memory are kernel-task 10 GB and mds_stores 5 GB.  However, Spotlight is fully indexed and mds is inactive until I launch Mail.
    Interestingly, it happens even if I quit Mail immediately after launching it - the Mail window doesn't even need to open; the memory ust still climbs.  But it only happens with Mail; all other applications work fine.  Also, it does not happen if I boot in Safe Mode or if I log in using a different user account.
    I have spend many hours on the phone with the Apple tech guys, they sent log files to Apple engineering, and none can figure this out.  Their solution is to work around by creating a new user and transfer files over - not an elegant solution...
    I ran the diagnostic suggested by Link Davis; results copied below. I also ran the Etresoft diagnostic both before and after launching Mail.  Results also copied below.
    I am guessing that a 3rd party application in my user area causes Spotlight to loose control, when Mail is launched, perhaps trying to index 10,000 emails, but I really have no idea!
    Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

    Have you looked into Activity Monitor utility to see what system resources exist and how they are being allocated to applications, the OS X, and other background functions?
    You could boot in SafeBoot (shift key held through startup) and run Disk Utility> repair disk permissions. That can tell you a few things about your hard disk drive, capacities, and it may not hurt to repair disk permissions. Restart normally when done.
    Or try & boot from the Install DVD and use the version of Disk Utility in there to attempt to 'repair disk' while the HDD is unmounted. Then choose Startup manager to boot from the HDD and ignore the DVD on a restart.
    Is your computer as listed, a PowerPC (pre-intel architecture)
    Apple product, with a G4/G5 CPU from before 2006? If so,
    a host could move the discussion from this Intel area.
    Without more information, a failure of traction results from speculation.
    Is your computer still running OS X 10.5.3, or is that 10.5.8+ now?
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Running out of application memory - AVCHD MultiCam edit

    I need help badly.
    I'm editing a MultiCam sequence, consisting of (3) AVCHD video tracks.  I'm getting a constant error message: "Your system has run out of application memory", then pauses, or is not responsive.
    Basic setup:
    Premiere Pro CC 2014
    iMac (mid 2011)
    OSX 10.9.4
    2.8 GHz Intel Core i7
    16 GB ram
    (Don't have an approved graphics card for Mercury Playback Engine)
    Video and Audio files are on (2) FireWire 400 drives, striped for Raid 0.  Set this up in Disk Drive Utility on the iMac.
    My remedies so far:
    Shut down other programs.
    Switched Optimized Rendering from 'Performance' to 'Memory'.
    Moved the Video and Audio Preview folders away from the project drive, to my Documents folder on main drive.
    Cleaned out the Media Cache in Premiere.
    This is the first time I've edited AVCHD files in a multi cam sequence.  I'm not sure where the bottleneck is.
    Appreciate any help.
    Doug Palmer

    I would suspect it is a drive access problem.  First drives on Firewire 400 and even in RAID 0 probably are not very high throughput and even then when you put those files on your main hard drive it is bogged down with all sorts of other traffic.  Take a look at the chart on our PC-centric PPBM7 website  called:
    "Typical Sustained Transfer Rates depending on the Disk Interface"
    Here you can see that your Firewire 400 drives are typically 30-40 MB/sec and that even if you get slightly better transfer rates from the RAID is probably not enough for three AVCHD streams.  I am editing three AVCHD streams (not multicam) off an USB 3 device but it's read rate is >180 MB/second, see below.
    Unfortunately you do not have a USB 3 interface on a 2011 computer.  Not being familiar with MAC's, I cannot suggest a solution for you.
    I am assuming that a single AVCHD clip you probably do not have any problems.
