Memory issues in java3d1.2(openGL ver) and 1.2.1-03 sdk(openGL ver)

hi ,
i am working in java 3d and handling memory issues .I have made following observations.
In java3d 1.2 version, when we close a primitive ,(transform group,point3d,transform 3d release) about 80% of memory used by the primitive when it was opened.but point4d releases only 2% of memory.
on a contrary when i use java3d1.2-03 sdk point4d releases about 75% of memory and others(transform3d,transform group,point3d ) releases about 40% of memory allocated to them.
can somebody tell me if there is some kind of difference in these two versions related to memory?or is there any memory bug in the later version?
thanks

hi,
We r using memory management tools like Jprobe and optimizer IT to count the rate of memory released.
Thanks

  • Equium L20-197 - memory issue

I have memory issue with L20 computer pc-world and currys are selling the L20 with following spec 256mb main memory and 128mb video memory(not up to 128) when that is not the case first of all the memory is shared and it takes 64mb out of main memory and when you try to up video memory in bios it will not let you up it to 128 unless you install another stick of main memory has anybody else noticed this problem? i know the previous L10 model with the intel video chipset was supposed to allocate video memory dependant on load but there is no mention of this on the ati chipset model. any ideas!!!

This information is for anybody with Memory issues
Concerning a TOSHIBA EQUIUM L20-197 Laptop, purchased from PC World or Groups (PC World/Currys/Dixons)
I purchased this laptop for Christmas for my daughter,
The sales man assured me at the time that he would recommend buying Norton internet security suite, because it was half the price when you buy any PC or Laptop.
What he did not tell me is, when you load the Norton software, the operating system is so slow it is just about unusable!
This problem is down to memory issues, the motherboard should have 256MB, but the operating system only gets 192MB due to the Graphics card steeling 64MB.
The answer to this problem is firstly the Graphics card should be set to 128MB in the Bios setting; this is not possible with the memory only being 256MB on the motherboard.
Secondly, the minimum requirements for Norton internet Security and Windows XP is 256MB not 192MB.
Being an Engineer myself and pointing out this to the Manager at PC World, he allowed me to purchase the memory locally and refunded the difference due to the price.
    I purchased 512MB DDR2 533PC-320 for 27.48 the Toshiba now works like a dream.
One last point I do not recommend any body to install Norton Go back on your Laptop that comes with Norton internet Security, when you have Windows XP it just takes up too much space on your hard drive and you have System Restore anyway.

  • Firefox 3.6.8 and memory issues

After the last update to 3.6.6, I disabled plugin-container per the instructions given on the forum, and my RAM problems went away. However, after the automatic update to 3.6.8, the memory problems came back, with memory usage going up to 92%. I downgraded to 3.6.4, and turned plugin-container off again; while memory usage is currently at 84%, it is not as low as it was before the upgrade to 3.6.8. (79-80%) (There is very little difference in the websites being opened on the various tabs.)
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == I upgraded to 3.6.8

ffs guys. It's a free browser. It's cool. We love it. But can we do something about memory issues? Almost every release has huge memory leaks.
How about halving the release points and focus on memory issues for the other half of the time. I am a long time user since way back in the day and it seems to me that instead of trying to release so many versions, we should be focused more fixing the current release.
I say put a moratorium on new features until bloat can be fixed. These experiences are starting to give me a hardon for IE again.
Screw new features. I can deal with plain old tabs like they are. I don't need more bells and whistles. This browser has been kicking ass and taking names for a loonnnggggg time. We don't need more bloat. Keep the security fixes coming but everything else can wait. Take a breath. Stop and smell the roses for a few weeks.

  • IPad 1 and memory issues

I mean this thing is slooowwww. Many apps crash back to the home screen. I have an app called System and it is showing Wired: 59MB at 36.56% What is this? Apps that are automatically on my iPad? Active shows 2MB at 13.90% and I have nothing running except this app. The reason I am bringing all this up is I was wondering is there any way to speed this iPad up? I mean the memory is atrocious! This thing is slow. And it is a brand new one that I got from the Apple store. Granted, it is not an iPad 2, as I do not have unlimited wealth, as Apple assumes we all do, it is the iPad 1. Maybe the memory issue is having too many apps downloaded? I have absolutely nothing running in the background as I close every app I open because the iPad is so slow and crashes even default email back to the home screen at times! I just want to make this thing faster like the day I first got it. Right now, it is serving as a paper weight as I can't keep anything running for very long. Things run smoothly, yes, but many things do not. Still wondering what this Wired section is, as it is taking up so much of my memory. I have only 88MB free and as soon as I open any app, that diminishes rather quickly.

No it's not jailbroken. I will never do that to any of my devices. I am talking about memory. I have plenty of storage. Just tired of apps crashing back to the home screen.

  • I have a battery and Memory issue - late macbook pro 2011

Macbook Pro 13" Late 2011 Model
    Battery Issue
After upgrading to Lion, my batter life is 3 hours after full charge. It was 7-8 hours in leopard.
Hoping this is a common issue and someone has a quick solution.
    Memory Issue
I had 4GB Ram and found it would run to virtually nothing and not free any inactive RAM. I though the solution to this was to buy more RAM, which I did.
I now have 8GB RAM and it agains runs to virtually nothing on non labour intensive software like safari or mail. It doesnt free up any RAM when it reaches a certain point. Instead it freezes and I'm forced to restart the computer. I use Final Cut Pro X and Photoshop/Illustrator fairly regualry. I'm assuming the RAM is is used with those but even when these are closed the RAM is low.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers

You should take your Mac to an official apple retail store, as it is not common to have these problems regarding battery and memory.

  • Rendering and Low System Memory issues in PE9.

    Hello again.
    N.B: I am an ex-PE3 user.
I am having a few issues with PE9.
    1. My main issue is that I am regularly getting the 'low system memory; please proceed with caution' message. I have googled it and read people's suggestions, but am not sure where to go from here. I have tried saving my file under another name, but am already up to '....E' (fifth) version of the file I've been working on this afternoon. The total time of the project is only approx 45 min's, although I will say that this 'low system memory' issue seems to be worst today, as I'm adding more still photos.
    2. One of the suggestions made by Steve G on one of the forums was to make sure projects are regularly rendered. When I hit 'Enter' to render, the little render window pops up for a split second and then disappears. And I would assume from the red line above my timeline that my file is not rendered.
    3. When I switch to 'Sceneline' view, my horizontal scroll-bar across the bottom will only drag SO far (to a certain point in my project; but definitely not to the end of my project. It is really frustrating. I sometimes can fix it by flicking between Sceneline and Timeline, but I have to do this multiple times... and it seems a ridiculous way to do it.
It would be fantastic if someone could help me with these issues, please!
    System details:
    AMD processor 3.2 Ghz
4 gig RAM (3.12 gig usable)
    Windows 7 Ultimate

    Hi everyone:
    Thankyou for all your suggestions.
Sorry, Bill, but both those links give me an error message. I was all set to read them, but they won’t work, unfortunately.
What is meant by ‘page file managed’, sorry? And do you mean ‘hard disk drives’ by HDD, or does it stand for something else in this context? I’m not sure what you mean by how do I have them allocated. Again, apologies for my ignorance. I do have only one HDD, but it is partitioned.
The image sizes all seem to have a depth of 24, but vary in dimensions – I can see that some are quite large (around 3 mg in size, with dimensions of 4288x2848, for example). Is the actual mg-size relevant, or only the physical length and width?
I have tried to look at the frame size of my project, but it seems to be greyed out. In pale digits, there is 720x576 written.
Just before I sent this, I thought of one other thing to try first.
I tried starting a ‘New Project’. I then inserted just 6 still photos, for experimentation purposes. I then hit ‘Enter’ and the Rendering window came up and appears to have rendered correctly. So I then tried looking at one of my other projects (that hadn’t previously been rendered) and tried to render it. In this case, as in for the project I am currently working hard on, the Rendering window flashes up for about ¼ of a second and then disappears.
    What is going on???

  • Overclocking issue with a Z68A-G43 MB and 4*2 GB DDR3 Gskill memory kits

    Hi,
On my old MB, I overclocked my I5 2500k CPU to 4.2 Ghz , It was running with 4*2GB DDR3 modules and everything was stable since several months.
I use the same components on my new Z68A-G43 MB but I don't manage to start my PC in the same conditions.
The PC runs well in normal mode (not OC ) with the 4x2GB DDR3 modules
The PC runs well when overclocked to 4.2 Ghz (and it is very stable) with 2*2 GB GSkill DDR3 (1600 MHz CAS 7, reference - F3-12800CL7 2GBECO) modules placed in DIMM 1 & 3
    But, when overclocked, the PC refuses to boot with 4*2GB DDR3 modules, after adding 2x2 GB GSkill DDR3 (1600 MHz CAS 8 , F3- reference - 12800CL8 2GBRM ) modules placed in DIMM 2 & 4
    Same problem with 2x2 GB KINGSTON DDR3 (1600 MHz CAS 9, reference 99005403 - 125.A01LF ) modules placed in DIMM 2 & 4
I tried the most of the recommended settings in the overclocking forum: OC genie enabled or not , XMP enabled or not , timings manually set according to information given by CPUZ , decreasing the frequency of the DDR3 to 1333 Mhz...
In summary, my PC refuses to boot due to a memory issue (3 beeps at launch) when I put 4*2GB of DDR3 with a 4.2 Ghz OC (whereas it was running fine for months on my old motherboard P67A- GD65 ).
The PC runs fine with 4*2GB of DDR3 without OC or with only 2*2GB of DDR3 with a 4.2 Ghz OC.
Do you have any idea how to solve this problem ?
    thank you for your advice

Yes. Get a factory matched and tested together RAM kit. Corsair work well on this series mainboard. That or try to increase the DRAM V. to 1.65v's, loosen the timings for all sticks to 9 9 9 24, CR 2. Good luck!

  • CF10 Update 14 and possible memory issues

One of my associates is complaining that since I applied the Coldfusion 10 Update 14 we are experiencing memory issues.  Has anyone else had issues with Update 14?
Just a System Admin fighting the good fight!

I’ll throw in that even if changing the JVM helped, it would still leave the question open as to whether/why Chad experienced a change in heap usage on solely updating CF.
Chad, really? Nothing else changed? I just find that so odd. I’ve not yet heard about it (or seen it) being an issue. Of course, update 14 did do quite a bit: beyond bug fixes it also updated Tomcat. I would be surprised that that could lead to memory leaks (assuming that’s what this is, if really NOTHING else changed).
What about the database you’re using?  Update 14 did change the JDBC drivers for Postgres. Are you using that DBMS?
Just trying to think what else could contribute to this, if indeed nothing else changed for you.
It is possible that something else changed, either in the config or coding (and you didn’t know it), or perhaps in the load against the server (I see that all the time: someone adds a new site, perhaps brought over from another server, and they assume “it doesn’t get much traffic”, but they don’t realize how heavily spiders and bots may hit that newly added  site, which could definitely put pressure on the heap whether from increased sessions, caching, and so on.)
Of course, you can always uninstall the update easily, in the same CF Admin page where you install it. That would help you prove if that alone was it. (Just be sure to rebuild the connectors back to the version as per the CF update you would revert to. I don’t think it’s appropriate to run the update 14 connector with an earlier update.)
Finally, FWIW, if you really wanted to go nuts, you could change CF to using Java 8. That’s another thing added in 14: support of 8. But to clear, it does not “change it” for you, so that’s not what happened here. But just as the two Carl’s proposed changing the  JVM to see if it “would help”, you could consider moving to Java 8. That’s all the more worth considering if indeed the issue is that something changed in your environment (config/code/load) and you simply do need more heap (in Java 7).
Of course CF will use the same GC you have specified even if you update it to use 8, so you may need to make some changes to see a real impact. But for instance one thing Java 8 does by default is no longer use the permanent generation. That should have no effect on your your observed use of heap. Just saying that 8 is indeed different, and you never know if updating to it could help (or hurt. It’s so new that CF supports it in 10, and only to come in update 3 of 11, that there’s relatively little known experience about the combination.)
Anyway, do let us know if you find more.

  • Lightroom 2.3RC and Fast MBP Mac 10.5.6 Still Has BIG Memory Issue

Lightroom 2.3RC still have a big memory issue on my Macbook Pro (Feb 2008) with 4GB of RAM both in 64bit and 32bit mode. After working on photos in a catalog (using Activity monitor) Lightroom causes my Free Memory to hover around only 10MB or less (causing Lightroom to continually hang or crash) while Inactive RAM sits at 1.5GB! Lightroom should be using this Inactive RAM rather than taking my Free RAM down to nearly nothing and causing freezes or crashes.
This is not as much of a problem in 2.2 32bit mode, but is a problem on 2.2 64bit mode. However, now with 2.3RC this is a problem on both the 32 and 64bit modes. Please Adobe address this huge huge huge memory problem in Lightroom. Why does Lightroom 2.2 32bit handle memory pretty okay but not Lightroom 2.3RC 32bit mode or 64bit mode? Why did 2.3RC break what for the most part worked in 2.2 32bit mode (even though that wasn't too great either).
Also I am only running Lightroom (no other programs). I admire the product Adobe, but this problem has persisted far too long and is making Lightroom unusable.

Hmm. I've been sticking with 2.1 until hearing widespread reports of stability. Every time I checked the forums, I didn't like what I heard about 2.2 so I stayed away. I dropped by to see what the Mac users thought of 2.3. Have you tested on another machine? I assume 2.1 was good for you? Can't wait to see what others are experiencing.

  • P45 Platinum memory issue(s)

I've experienced some trouble getting my Corsair DOMINATOR TWIN2X-2048-8500C5DF G ver 1.1 memory modules to work as intended, ie at 1066 MHz
(PCB ver 1.1 , E8400 at stock speed)
BIOS ver 1.0 would not POST correctly, hanging at "Memory detection Test"
After reading alot in Phily7 thread (same issues), I decided to try BIOS ver 1.1b5
Some improvements. POST is now ok, and no need to manually reset CMOS everytime I've fiddled with the memory settings
Tried DRAM voltages up to 2.196 Volts, but still the MB only recognises and threat them as 800MHz (Corairs home page says ver 1.X @2.2V, ver 2.X @2.1V)
Tried to adjust the FSB/DRAM to 1333/1066, which causes the MB to reset itself until it says "The previous performance..."
Tried by advice of "Jack the Newbie" to adjust memory timings to 5-5-5-18, Spread Spectrum disable and tRFC=53, which also ended up with " The previous.."
    Everest (trial version 4.5) read memory timings to @ 400 MHz   5-5-5-18  (CL-RCD-RP-RAS) / 23-51-3-6-3-3  (RC-RFC-RRD-WR-WTR-RTP)
    Any suggestion would be appricited?
    (Sorry for rusty english...)

Yup, the thread was about getting all 4 memory modules up to 1066.
    I'm now running 4Gigs(2*2) of Corsair DOMINATOR 6400CL4 at 2.1V - flawlessly :-)
The 8500 modules are on hold until a new BIOS is aviable, I don't wanne waste anymore time trying to make them work for now.

  • Application is not working due to memory issue

    Hi Friesnds,
Kindly help me regarding settings in java. Scenario is like that. I have one server having two jboss versions (jboss-4.2.3 GA and jboss- 3.2.6). Each having java memory (JVM settings) 1 GB. The total memory of that server is 3 GB.
Problem is that every two days my application is not working due to memory issue. Once i freed the memory (through run the commands - (1). sync
    (2). echo 3 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches
    Application works fine.
I heared that the above command (echo 3 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches) can't run frequently because of server crash.
Kindly help me regarding this issue and provide the resolution.
Let me know if you need more information from my side.
    Thanks
    Ashish Shukla

All of the above.  I tested on 4 different networks and had no luck, I also had friends test my network and the other networks with their iPhones and all had no issues using FaceTime.
Also after I wiped my phone (erased all content and settings) I was able to successfully initiate a FaceTime call with no changes to my network and was also able to initiate another call when connected to another previously tested network that didn't work before.  Once I restored from backup though, FaceTime stopped working again.
I did find this discussion: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5163024?start=0&tstart=0
and tried the suggestions found there too.  That discussion describes my issue I am having as well.

    I have a MSI 975X Platinum rev 2 mb with a e6300 processor overclocked to 2.24ghz.
If your CPU operates @2.24 GHz, it means that you increased FSB frequency to about 348 MHz.
To make sure there is no misunderstanding here, let me point out the following:
Memory frequency is ALWAYS linked to FSB frequency by the FSB/DRAM Ratio you can select in BIOS.  If you select 1:1 for example, the BIOS will show that memory frequency is 533 MHz. This value however, only applies to the default FSB clock speed of 266 MHz:
    266 MHz x 1 = 266 MHz (or 533 MHz effective DDR2-frequency).
If your system is overclocked, what counts is only FSB/DRAM ratio, not the memory speed displayed in BIOS.  That means, if you set FSB/DRAM ration to 1:1 and FSB frequency to 348 MHz, your RAM will operate @:
    348 MHz x 1 = 348 MHz (or 696 MHz effective DDR2-frequency).
    The main question is:
What are you talking about when you say, you can't make your RAM operate @800 MHz?
The BIOS does not offer a proper divider to get your RAM to 800 MHz @348 FSB clock speed to begin with.
You have the following choices if your overclock your system:
    FSB=300 + FSB/DRAM ratio = 1.33
    300 MHz x 1.33 ~ 400 MHz (or 800 MHz effective DDR2-frequency)
    FSB=320 MHz + FSB/DRAM ratio = 1:1.25
    320 MHz x 1.25 = 400 MHz (or 800 MHz effective DDR2-frequency)
    FSB=400 MHz + FSB/DRAM ratio = 1:1
    400 MHz x 1 = 400 MHz (or 800 MHz effective DDR2-frequency)
Use CPU-Z to monitor the DRAM frequency that is actually set if you are overclocking.

  • Memory issues

I have a 2008 Macpro...remarkable up-to -date for its age...I plan to use it for some time yet. Lately I have been a having what seems to be a memory issue. There are 12 gig of Ram installed...6x2 gig each in pairs. Sometimes on boot the screen only shows a flashing folder. I shut down and reboot, and it seems fine...but only 8gig of ram shows installed. I opened it up, unseated the boards that hod the ram, and unseated and reset all he ram, and replaced the boards. Great, all he ram shows, 12 gig again. This morning, a few days later, it did it again, showing 8. So, when I run Crucial's memory analyzer, it shows first four slots full, last four empty. A few questions...are the first four slots the top board, the last four the bottom board? This, BTW, is what it was also showing before I reseated the ram. If so, the ram in question s on a separate board. Opinions, is the ram bad, or the board, or neither? Should I reseat again and flush with contact/tuner cleaner/degreaser? Could this hurt? (it is made to clean electronics) the machine does seem ever so slightly unstable. FCP crashed once in a 5 hour edit, which it has done before but rarely. The machine itself did not crash, just the program. Can using the machine like this do more damage, or will it just not boot? I feel it is a seating or connection issue, as I have never seen ram come and go, once it is fried it's fried. The ram is still pretty pricy, but I was going to buy 4 more gigs just to fill it out. Are the two board that hold the ram identical, top and bottom? If so, is a good diagnostic tool to swap them and see what happens? Move all the ram and swap board positions, or do I risk blowing ram ? Remember, the ram did show up when I reseated, so it seems like it is I damaged. My goal would be to see if top ram stops appearing. Does ram need to be filled in order? I know in pairs, but can I just swap the boards and leave the ram, which should look like filling slots 1,2,5,6,7,8...as opposed to 1,2,3,4,5,6.  Can the boards be swapped, or are they set somehow to be 1-4 and 5-8, or is that determined automatically by their upper or lower insertion? Any other advice is appreciated. Funds are low, so I need to keep this machine running. Other info, 3.06ghz (2 quad core) Xeon CPUs, 1tb system drive, 4 TB raid5' OSX 10.6.8 dual graphics display with 512MB (can't remember card model right now). Also, can I update graphic card in this machine? I looked at it a few years ago, but the I for I found was confusing and I never got to it. I figure I might be able to get a better card pretty cheap by now. Thanks all.

You have typed a huge list of ideas all as one paragraph with many questions in it without a single bit of white space. My eyes are not good enough to read a question, attempt to answer it, then dig through the sea of letters to find the next question.
Your writing needs white space, which gives it a peculiar overall shape, and allows a reader with poor eyesight to return to a particular spot in the text. So I will attempt to answer some parts of your query, but will be forced to do so from memory of what you wrote.
The Mac Pro uses Error Correcting Code (ECC) RAM. Eight extra bits are stored with each word, and checked when read back. Single-bit errors are detected, and the check bits are used to make a correction on the fly. More complicated errors are detected, and can cause your Mac to halt on a kernel panic to prevent bad data from propagating.
ECC RAM means your Mac can detect bad memory easily at Startup, and can declare pairs of DIMMs "absent" to avoid using them.
Contact corrosion, which was an issue with much older DIMMs, is rarely an issue with these FBDIMMs. Once re-Inserted ONCE, corrosion will not recur for a year or more.
The upper and lower Riser-cards are identical.
The FBDIMMs in these machines are subject to overheating and death. If Mac OS X or any program reports DIMMs as missing, at least one of the DIMMs in that pair has died (but since they are installed in pairs, both are marked absent).
