Memory limitation to load a Jpeg

Hi all,
I want to use the loader component to load an image within my
Flash lite movie, when I try to do it with a Jpeg (612pix X 792 pix
/ 96dpi X 96dpi), the device emulator says me in runtime:
Problem with content: 11 - Not enough memory available to
decompress
if I do the same with another Jpeg (533pix X 526 pix / 96dpi
X 96dpi) there is no problem.
My question is: what are the memory limitations to load and
to display an Image (Jpeg or bitmap)?

Hi Thamis,
Take a look at the flash.net.FileReference class here:
http://livedocs.macromedia.com/flex/2/langref/index.html
This is the built in Flash support for file upload. You'd
handle the upload with a servlet/jsp/etc. server-side component to
save it to disk or as binary data in a database.
Best,
Seth

  • OUT OF MEMORY - during loading images (JPEG's)

    Hallo,
    We use the OHJ (version 4.1.12) inside a Java/Swing application with JDK 1.3.1.
    Our online help contains a lot of larger JPEG images. When the user navigates through the online help - an out of memory occurs while loading the images.
    I tried to split the help pages in a lot of small HTML pages, but this doesn't help. It seems that the OHJ does not clear the memory
    when loading the next HTML page.
    Can the OHJ deal with larger images ?
    Any other possibilities ?
    Thanks

    We have never seen such a problem with large images and OHJ. Could you send us a ZIP containing your help content by e-mail to [email protected] so that we can try to reproduce it?

    I configured my Notebook with a Dual-boot Windowx XP Pro SP3 and Windows Vista Bussines SP1 (32 bit)
    I have 2x 512 MB PC2-5300 667 MHz DDR2 memory inside.
    I read on the Lenovo site :
     Memory Compatibility
    (**) Windows Vista supports up to 4GB maximum memory (32-bit versions of Windows Vista cannot support 4GB). Windows XP supports up to 3GB maximum memory
    I like to update my memory with
    2x 40Y7734 1 GB PC2-5300 667 MHz DDR2
    or
    2x 40Y7735 2 GB PC2-5300 667 MHz DDR2
    I like to know if I choose for 2x 2GB , will :
    Windows XP SP3 work just fine only it works with 3GB instead of 4GB installed memory
    Window Vista SP1 (32-bit) with the 4GB (even not supported) work stable ?
    Because the prices of 1 GB and 2 GB won't change much nowadays.
    I prefer to use 2x 2GB modules, but I like to know will it work (even with the memory limitation) stable on XP or on Vista
    or it is better/safer to use 2x 1GB modules
    Can anybody help/explain me or advice me ?

    You're better off with 2x2GB, you may decide to run a 64-bit OS someday...and you will notice a difference between 2GB and 3GB when running a 32-bit OS.

  • Memory limitation for session object!

    what is the memory limitation for using session objects?
    venu

    as already mentioned there is no actual memory limitation within the specification, it only depends on the jvm's settings
    how different app-server handle memory management of session objects is another part of the puzzle, but in general you should not have problems in writting any object to the session.
    we had the requirement once to keep big objects in session, we decided to do a ResourceFactory that returns us the objects, and only store unique-Ids into the session.
    We could lateron build on this and perform special serialization tasks of big objects in the distributed environment.

  • Standard Edition Memory Limitations

    What is the upper memory limitation for the SGA size when using Standard Edition 9.x on Windows 2000?
    What about Enterprise?

    According what I know the SGA in one OS is limited by the OS and the parameter SGA_MAX_SIZE. I have never heard that SGA has limitations related to the license.
    SGA_MAX_SIZE
    Parameter type
    Big integer
    Syntax
    SGA_MAX_SIZE = integer [K | M | G]
    Default value
    Initial size of SGA at startup, dependent on the sizes of different pools in the SGA, such as buffer cache, shared pool, large pool, and so on.
    Parameter class
    Static
    Range of values
    0 to operating system-dependent
    SGA_MAX_SIZE specifies the maximum size of SGA for the lifetime of the instance.

  • DV6500 Physical Memory Limitation to 3gb

    Hi All,
    My DV6500 Entertainment PC came with Windows Vista 32-bit preinstalled which limited my usable memory from 4gb to 3gb. I recently upgraded to Windows Home Premium 32-bit which I believe has a physical memory limitation of 4gb (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa366778%28v=vs.85%29.aspx#physical_memory_l... but upon inspection my windows still shows 3gb usable memory. Is there something I need to tweek in windows or bios to fully use all 4gb as installed on my laptop? Thanks in advance.
    This question was solved.

    Hi:
    That's what this forum is for...asking and answering questions.
    So there is absolutely nothing for you to be sorry for.
    Unfortunately, there is no way you can re-map or re-dedicate the memory configuration. It is what it is.
    However, your PC's BIOS may have a setting to allow for more dedicated graphics memory to be used.
    I was very surprised to see that in my dv6810us BIOS, there is a video memory setting. The default is 64 MB.  However, I could change the setting to 128 MB or 32 MB.
    So, I changed it to 128 MB.

  • FPGA memory limitation

    Hi...
    I have tried to use more than 2 MB memory (using memory blocks) on FPGA. During compilation Xilinx tool chain generated error "AR #21955"....which is explained as memory limitation (in xilinx website). Can't we create memory blocks of more than 2 MB?? (or) all memory blocks size in a vi should not cross 2 MB??. I need to create arbitrary wave forms of milli/micro second precision for some minutes......so i need many no. of points to get required waveform....Is there any way to achive it....when I transfered each point from a RT vi (not on FPGA) it takes more time (to transfer data from RT vi to FPGA vi for every iteration).
    Thank you,
    Cheers,
    Ravinder

    The size of the memory blocks you can allocate in the project and use in your FPGA VI is limited by the size of the memory available on your FPGA device. This memory is in the range of 80-192 kB depending on which FPGA device you are using. Please check the data sheet or manual for your device for details.
    http://sine.ni.com/manuals/
    So unfortunately you will not be able to store the complete waveform on the FPGA device.
    Your best option is to stream the waveform from host memory to the FPGA device using DMA and generate the data from the DMA FIFO in the FPGA VI.

    I have an HP dv6448se that originally came with Vista x86
    I have recently upgraded the OS to Win7 x64
    The listed memory limitation of the laptop is 2048 (2GB)
    What is it that limits the ram to 2GB?  Is it a hardware thing, or was it an OS thing?  Would the new OS recognize two 2GB chips, or am I stuck with two 1GB chips?

  • AS3 parent loading in AS2 child that in turn loads in jpegs *Problem*

    Hiya everybody.
    I'm getting a bald patch on my head from frustration with the following problem.
    I have a parent AS3 swf which loads in a AS2 swf like so;
    stop();
    var ldr:Loader = new Loader();
    ldr.load(new URLRequest( "as2child.swf"));
    addChild(ldr);
    contained in the AS2 file is the following script which loads in jpegs when the user clicks the next button, etc.
    //stuff that loads in different photos
    stop();
    var i:Number = 1;
    //load first image straight away.
    function initialloadup () {
    i = 1;
    startLoading("pic"+i+".jpg");
    initialloadup();
    next_btn.onRelease = function () {
    /*on clicking next image button load next image in sequence*/
    i++;
    if (i > 11 ) {i = 1};
    startLoading("pic"+i+".jpg");
    trace("pic"+i+".jpg");
    prev_btn.onRelease = function () {
    //on clicking previous image button load prev image in sequence
    i--;
    if (i < 1 ) {i = 11};
    startLoading("pic"+i+".jpg");
    function startLoading(whichImage) {
    loadMovie(whichImage, "imageLoader");
    however when you view the AS2 swf via the AS3 swf it does not seem to load in the jpgs when requested.
    I need to retain the AS2 file so cannot rewrite in AS3 as the image loading thing is only a small part of the AS2 file.
    Any ideas? might it be to do with how the AS2 is read in AS3?
    Cheers for your reading this

    Hi Ned,
    Cheers for your thoughts. I've heard of the lockroot thingymajig. Tried it out but to no avail.
    I've attached a zip file containing the fla's and swf's and jpgs, just incase anyone yourself included might have anymore ideas.

  • Loading external jpegs

    I have a page that loads external jpegs... however it seems
    totake longer to retireve and display/load the images going through
    flash than it does if i were to display them as html...why is
    this... or am I just wrong. thanks J.

    thanks kglad,...
    the website i have is purely in flash. It communicates with a
    mysql database using php. However as well as being slow at loading
    external jpegs it is also very slow at retrieving and loading data
    from the database.
    When I test the site locally it runs very fast.
    If this was a problem with my scripting (php) wouldn't i
    notice this slowdown when I tested locally?, therefore is the
    problem with my server opposed to my scripting.
    thanks J.

  • Excessive memory consumption when loading Customers through Component Inter

    Hi All,
    I'm facing a big problem with the high memory consumption when loading Customers, Companies and Sites using the Component Interfaces delivered by the product (RD_CONSUMER_CI_API, RD_COMPANY_CI_API, RD_SITE_CI_API) within Application Engine programs. I'm loading about 7 million customers, an amount that is not so big in my opinion, but the memory consume is too high.
    We have 3 Batch Servers, each one running under Red Hat OS with 32 GB RAM memory plus 32 GB Swap memory in each server. We are running 2 Process by Server and with a day and half the servers crash with 100% of memory consumed (RAM and SWAP).
    There's a good pratice to use Component Interface in a heavy load process?
    There are parameters in the process scheduler configuration file that could help to reduce the memory consumption?
    There's a way to free the memory through PeopleCode or by running another process?
    Thanking you in advance.

    You may want to try and cut down on the input data to ascertain that the load might be a problem.
    You may try and use the GarbageCollector, but might not help in your case.
    To get an idea of the size allocated in buffer for the Rowset being used, you may want to check out the memory overhead ...
    Also, could check, which is the process that is consuming a lot of memory
