I am developing an application which loads JPEG2000 images from the server and display them. How to know about the memory used by the application ?
Any idea about the cache memory in iPad and how to use it ? I want to know about the memory management in iPad .
Would anyone help me , please ?

I have the same issue, my other category has grown to 7GB. Deleted the cache, cookies, but that removed 500kB. My books are 0. I am going app by app to see if I can delete data, but it is not clear where the problem is. Removed all games - didn't impact the other category at all. Any advice? Do I just totally remove everything, and then resync everything after that? Any advice welcome, right now I can barely use my iPad.

How do I load picture to my ipad2 using memory stick.

The memory stick format was Sony's attempt to control the portable storage market.
They failed miserably. Almost nobody supports or uses the memory stick format.
Transfer to a pc or to a decent memory card and use the camera connection kit.

IPad2 MEMORY issue.. iPad3 is fine. [HELP]

The strange thing about this is that on earlier AIR (2.7, 3.1, 3.2, 3.3) the problem was that iPad3 was having memory issues and iPad2 was near impossible to crash.
Now running AIR 3.4 Public .. the problem has reversed.
I am getting a "Received memory warning" in the XCode Instruments panel.
This happens at the exact moment I use the blitMask to capture a fairly large bitmap.

After days of trying everything I could think of. I finally found a solution.
It seems that changing my library images from Lossless to Photo Compressed fixes the problem. Even if I change to Photo Compressed and set to 100 it works.
I'm wondering why altering compression settings on images that haven't even been called to the stage yet works ?

New iPad, intermittent Wi-Fi connectivity

I know there are some discussions about poor wi-fi reception on new iPad, but my case is a bit different.
Wi-Fi rception is strong at all time, but Wi-Fi connectivity works for a while, then drops, and very difficult to re-connect (always says "can not join" when I try to manually join), have to wait for quite a while... sometimes can't even find my SSID.
This happens to my 2 new iPad (64G Wi-Fi version) in my house, especially in the bedroom, I don't think Wi-Fi signal is bad because at the same location, my iPhone 4 and 4s are all working fine without losing Wi-Fi, at the same location WD TV Live streams 720p videos perfectly.
Out of this bedroom, any other place in my house, no this Wi-fi issue at all.
I called local Apple support, they said they can exchange new sets for me, but they can't guarantee the new ones will not have this issue so I didn't go.
Should I go and change or wait for new OS, if it is software bug?

I'll try that, because my iPhone 4S and my iMac are all fine when this occurs and it comes right back up but I'm writing am article and bham it says that I don't have a connection. I have an Ipad2 which is only a few months old. The kid that brought out the iPad for me, it has 3G of course I didn't think to open the stupid box, it has Verizon as the carrier for the 3G which I haven't used yet because the iPad cost me $649, had to buy 3G stuff from Verizon for over $100 because of car charger and the charger from 3G to something that looks like one side is Verizon the other Apple. Since my carrier is AT&T it aggravated me. Then I had to buy $40 worth of extra memory for the iPad2, I thought it might help the problem, I bought a new router nada.
I've been buying all Apple since the Macintosh with the mouse that only had the one click no right and left like a PC, and I've noticed that Apple consistently releases new equipment with glitches all the time. Not once or twice on everything they release. I'll try the turning down the brightness, I don't use wallpaper I'm just not a pretty picture on my phones and computer woman. Thanks for the suggestion because it's soooo annoying!

Mirror mirror on the wall...

Need help. I've got an iphone 4s, up to date on ios...6.1.3 (I think from memory). An ipad2 and apple tv (up to date). I double the double tap home, swipe twice etc on the ipad2 and can see the mirroring option (and use it). If i do the same on the iphone, i get the apple tv / iphone option but the mirroring slider is not there. Any ideas?

iOS manages all memory. You should test your app in Instruments to be sure it is playing nice.

IPad2 memory full of photos, can't delete. Need help, please!

My iPad2 memory is full of photos because of the mistakes I made when downloading pictures from my camera. Pictures have been downloaded multiple times, plus video from my camera and I videoed a recent family reunion for my dad, who is no longer able to travel and see his family. When I tried to sync my iPad through my pc on iTunes it had errors and did not update. Then I started getting messages on my iPad that my memory was full and I needed to delete photos and videos.
I was able to go to photos, select the arrow on the top right, which gave me the delete option and could select pictures which were downloaded on my iPad and delete them. After deleting about 40 pictures, the delete button no longer worked and I can't get it to work again. I have turned off the iPad, selected one pic at a time, several pics, everything I can think of, but no luck. Does anyone have any advice for me? I would be very grateful for your input.

If you mean that the shows are still taking up space on the iPad - of course they will unless you remove them. Is that what you mean?
You can transfer them into iTunes on your computer and kept them there via File>Transfer Purchases while the iPad is connected to the computer with iTunes running and if the iPad has been selected on the left side of the iTunes window under Devices.
If you just want to delete them - go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Video>Edit and you can select the shows and delete them. You can also tap and hold down on the TV show icons in the Videos App and the X will pop up to delete the shows.

If you're worried about the threats, don't do things that would expose yourself to the vulnerability that they describe.

It depends on what books you're referring to. All books from the iTunes Store are downloaded to your iPad and except for any special features the book may contain that requires an Internet connection will be readable without such a connection.
If you're talking about books from some other source, we'd need to know the source before we could offer opinions.

I think you misunderstand... iCloud backups are stored in the cloud and not on the PC. So, if you do an iCloud backup, it won't take up room on the PC.
But, if you want to transfer the iTunes purchases over, set up Home Sharing. Also, see this link.

Why do I lose memory every time I click on an app on my ipad2

Since I got my new iPad, I have been having a problem with the space on my iPad, I have only downloaded a few apps yet I still lose memory every time I click on the app. I first thought that it would be because I save new missions on games.... But I soon found out that if I just press the app and go straight of, it still adds more memory.why is it doing this and is there any way to stop it?

With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. With iOS 5/6, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.

Yeah, that's high.
First, try a system reset. I don't have too much confidence that it will help but it does cure many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.
