Memory monitor app?

Not even sure if the info is available for the iPhone, but does anyone know if there are any apps around to show details on how much memory each running process is taking up?  All I can see from apps is WHAT processes are running, but no resource usage details.
Thanks.

such programs are not really available many places just take windows
you can't get it to show you how much memory a program is really using
only how much it have allocated but most people don't really know the difference
guess it's the whole virtual memory frace

Do you still use memory freeing apps now that you have an Iphone 4?
Are there any benefits to using one, while using an Iphone 4?
I used to use these apps all of the time when I had a Iphone 3g, but I haven't found the need for one on my Iphone 4.

I'm using the app called "System Activity Monitor" I think it costs you money to buy one, but it's a nice feature, it frees up some memory automatically if you launch the app, it also shows you what processor you are running. I barely go on it but sometimes when I check I find that I only have 5 MB of ram left and it's nice that it frees it up automatically. Other than that I don't usually check it often but there are times when I do need to check it.

  • How to use Memory Monitor on Sun ONE Studio 4 ??

    Hello,
I am creating a midlet using the Nokia 7210 emulator. When trying to load a Canvas, an "Unable to run application" alert appears and the midlet quits.
Presuming this is due to a memory problem, I've inserted a System.gc() call before I create the new canvas, but the midlet still exits.
So to help me get to the bottom of it, I thought I had best try s1s4's Memory Monitor utlity - but I can't get it to work. I have ticked the 'Enable Memory Monitor' box on the Monitor tab of Preferences for the Installed Emulator (J2ME Wireless Toolkit 1.0.4_01), but nothing happens after the midlet runs and quits.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Many thanks in advance,
    James

    I don't know. I've never tried.
Look at the manual (7210midpSimGuide.pdf in the docs directory). Maybe there is something in there. In the command line options there are a bunch of tracing options that you can specify, like tracing allocations, garbage collections, stackmaps, etc.

  • For the average person what really is the point of the activity monitor app when all you really want to know is whether your mac is running at its best?

I have had my imac for nearly 18 months now,
It's okay, is the best I can say about it.
    It cost me around £800+
So recently (and foolishly!) I downloaded OS Mavericks when I was actually looking for a freebie word processor programme (I got Bean because it's simple like me.)
Now the point of all this is that Mavericks has new features like a redesigned Safari (But I ain't noticed any difference yet) and Imaps (Huh!) and Ibooks and Imovie or something.
So when you are oldish like me, you really don't want people to keep changing and introducing new stuff (most of which is pointless anyway) all the time; because it takes us old ***** a while to get used to the last "improvement."
So you try and get rid of all these new apps that you don't want and didn't ask for anyway,
and then you find out you can't, because they're an integral part of the new OS.
    Brilliant!
Then you find that Mail has to redo itself and this thing no longer works properly etc. and you start wishing you hadn't got up that morning...
So you try and get it all back the way it was..
    And you can't.
Because you don't have an external hard drive to use the Time machine back up facility.
So you get in touch with Apple Support and it's now nearly bedtime, but at least you feel like you might be gettin' somewhere.
You talk to the supportguy and suddenly you can't remember what the problem is and what your name is, and you're thinking you might as well order in a pizza seein' as you've drunk the last of the gin..."
Anyway the guy manages to keep his temper and you get some degree of order restored but the machine still seems "jumpy" so someone says to you
"Check out the Activity Monitor! That'll tell you if something's not working right."
So you do, but it doesn't.
Just a bunch of numbers and CPU stuff and User Idiot Input etc.
All you really want is some little box to pop up and say,
"Hey! yyyou've really ssscrewed things upppp-p here, old mmmmman!!. This programme is no longer functioning properly, that thing appears to frozen, and you just wiped half your saved photos of Aunt Jessie's 94th birthday celebration (the one's where she had her eyes open)..
Press here for a full maintenance overview and repair menu.."
By this time you are on the floor, your leg's got cramp and you really really need a pee.
But there ain't no maintenance programme, just an activity monitor app you can't make any sense out of, so you yank the **** power cord out of the socket and go to bed..
    So you try and

DVD-R media that is single layer has 4.3 GB formatted capacity.
DVD+R DL media has 7.8 GB formatted capacity.
DVD-R double sided has 4.3 GB on each side.

Do you happen to have an Android?  If so and depending on what version there is a great data usage analyse tool built-in.  See if you can go to Settings -> Data Usage  from there you can pick a current or previous billing cycle and then use the vertical sliders to select a date range and it will filter the usage data per app to show you exactly what app(s) were using data during that time frame.

  • Memory monitor for Project Raptor

I have earlier written a Memory monitor for JDeveloper 10.1.3 EA, where you can see the heap memory being consumed by the IDE.
This works for raptor too due to its JDeveloper base.
The extension was included in the JDeveloper Check for Updates.
You can use the same extension for Raptor also.
Option 1 : Use Check for updates by adding the following update center link:
    Update Center : http://myjavaserver.com/~rajvissa/center.xml
Option 2: download the jar file and drop into ur < RAPTOR_HOME >/jdev/extensions folder
    Link: http://jroller.com/resources/r/rajvissa/memory.monitor.10.1.3.jar
    How it looks:
Memory monitor for Project Raptor : http://www.jroller.com/page/rajvissa?catname=/JDeveloper
Probably Raptor can add this to their update center like JDeveloper 10.1.3 EA.
I tried this and found that raptor's memory consumption is < 70MB most of the time (I am not a DBA)

    Hi
I installed it with option 2: option 1 did not work. I am unsure if it's my issue or general.
Nice... I can control the amount of used memory!!
    Thanks,

  • ABAP debugger - Memory monitoring

When in a debugging mode, go to menu --->
Settings -> Memory monitoring (turn on this setting).
However, since this feature is turned on, where do I get the result of the trace?

    Hi,
You can check the results in the debugging mode itself,by clicking the "setting" button after the "overview" button.
Go to table & give the internal table name & it will tell you the Memory Allocated & Memory used by the internal table.
If you click on one of the lines of the internla table,it will give you the memory used by that particular line.

  • Monitoring apps

Is there a monitoring app for the Iphone4 and Ipad?  Looking to monitor: texts, pictures, social media.

You can check the App Store, there are some parenting apps, but I don't think you will find one that allows you to see SMS content. They can delete SMS and you would not be able to recover them.
Some carriers provide some parenting applications with restrictions, but they usually cost money. Not sure they would even give you what you want. You may also want to look at the iPhone User Guide. It will provide you with information about the Restrictions section in Settings.
You can also ask them to show you their device for you to look at website history, but if there is that much distrust that you are going to be searching and/or monitoring the device, I'm afraid they will only take the time to delete this information from you.

  • Memory monitoring in ABAP debugger

Can anyone tell me the relevance of memory monitoring in ABAP debugger and and how to use it practically. I have searched the forums but did not find anything.

    Hi Sameer,
If you choose the Settings pushbutton and select the Memory Monitoring radio button, or if you choose the menu Settings  ® Memory Monitoring, the system will inspect the roll area of the current mode after every ABAP statement. This allows you to check whether neighboring memory areas have been overwritten.
The system checks of the memory segments  in order to find the memory overwrites for each executed statement. SAP uses this settings internally to find potential kernal bugs. Turning on this setting significantly decreases application performance.
This internal setting is not relavent for ABAP developers.

  • Memory Monitor

I am trying to instrument a large application to monitor for possible memory leaks in the current or future versions.
I am using a similar approach to ...\Labview 8.2\Examples\memmon.llb\Memory Monitor.vi.  One problem is that the VI Server property VI.Metric.DataSize does not seem to be available if the VI is running (or waiting to run).  The property node returns error 1000, VI not is a .  Is there any other way to programmatically get detailed memory statistics for each VI?  Why is this information available in the profiler and in the VI Properties->Memory Usage window but not in a property node?
It  would also be great to get a list of all active queues and notifiers on the system, but I suspect this is not available anywhere.  If anyone has good ideas about this, it would be great.
    Thanks,
    Jason Dunham

    Jason,
Unfortunately, I am not aware of a way to do this programmatically.  As for the VI property Metrics:Total Data Size, according to the LabVIEW help, you cannot read this property if the VI is running.  Please see this post for the reasoning behind this.

  • Memory monitor exception

I am working on a mobile game using JSR-184 and WTK 2.2.0. When I try to run the program with the memory monitor enabled (on emulator) I always end up with the following exception:

I'm using NetBeans 4.0 as the IDE, if that matters.
    Thanks for your help,

Which error do you get? java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space? Or do you get your error from a different memory?
In case of PermGen: In my opinion threre is a bug (not yet accepted by sun/oracle) described here:
[ OOME because of MBeanServerConnection addListener    |http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5407170&messageID=10814433#10814433]
If you are doing something similar, this could be the cause. Our workaround is to disconnect periodically.

  • Bug found in Activity Monitor app

    Hello,
I think I've found a bug in Activity Monitor.
If you move the app from Applications/Utilities to Applications it will start up but the rainbow disk will spin forever, and the window will not be populated with data. Put it back into Utilities and it works again.
The issue is that the location of activitymonitord seems to be hardcoded to be in the Utilities folder.
The following steps are repeated endlessly:
    com.apple.launchd[1] (com.apple.ActivityMonitor[3061]): posixspawn("/Applications/_Utilities/Activity Monitor.app/Contents/MacOS/activitymonitord", ...): No such file or directory
    com.apple.launchd[1] (com.apple.ActivityMonitor[3061]): Exited with exit code: 1
com.apple.launchd[1] (com.apple.ActivityMonitor): Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds

    Hello,
Thank you very much for your comment.
Well, I think those apps and utilities are probably not designed well then. It goes against UI expectations if you aren't allowed to make a subfolder in Applications or Utilities folders.
And, I have enough apps now that I need to make subfolders to keep it sane and quickly navigable.
The only app I've found so far which dies is Activity Monitor. In my case, I have been launching it often to figure out why the Mac crashes and hangs so often. Badly behaving apps like this (just crash, not retry endlessly!) and apparently a lack of a supervisory system to kill them is a problem I think with the Mac.
Thanks anyway, I lost this round I suppose!
    Matt
