Memory paramter recommendations after Migration to 64bit
Hi guys... we just upgraded our platform from Win 2000 + SQL 2000 (32bit) to Win 2008 R2 + SQL 2008 R2 (64bit).
Server 1 : CI + DB (32GB RAM)
Server 2 : 1 App Instance (8GB RAM)
Could you guys give me some recommendations for the memory settings on SAP as well as SQL cos we are experiencing some slowness of report executions (same reports ran faster before the migration)
Thanks in advance
Chris

Thanks for the information.. i will adjust the OS SWAP to 20GB (min/max).. what about the DB+CI server.. should i adjust the Swap on that to 20GB as well ?...

I have a 13" mid 2011 MB Air 128gb and a Time Cap.802.11AC. My HD is maxed out because of 30GB of photo storage after migration to 10.10.3 Photos. I have reduced apps and files as much as possible so the only thing left is to move the photos. Please recommend an external drive compatible for connecting to my TC 802.11ac and moving the iPhoto Lib off my HD which will free approx 15 gbs. of space. I don't plan on using it for any other purpose so a small capacity drive will suffice. I know the "optimization" is supposed to adjust for this condition but I don't trust that assertion.I only have 2gb free space remaining.
I don't plan on using it for any other purpose so a small capacity drive will suffice.
If you really only want such a small capacity drive.. what about just buying a 32GB or 64GB USB memory stick.
You should still have a back up to the internal hard disk of the AC TC.
Or just buy a WD Passport.. don't waste your money buying 500GB as it is only a bit more to buy 1TB and a bit more again for 2TB.. For future use if you do buy a USB hard disk buy 2.5" type.. and buy 1TB or if the budget stretches 2TB.. -
Can only access emails through OWA after migration from exchange 2007 to 2013
can only access emails through OWA after migration from exchange 2007 to 2013, in other words unable to access mails through outlook or from other Applications services.
needed RCA ... plz help..Hi,
From your description, you can send and receive messages only when you use OWA after migration from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013. If I have misunderstood your concern, please let me know.
In your case, I recommend you create a new test mailbox in your Exchange 2013 and check if you can send and receive messages on Outlook. If yes, it is recommended to create a new profile to solve this issue.
Hope this can be helpful to you.
Best regards,
Amy Wang

Hello.
We're running a NW6.5.8 machine on a HP Proliant ML350 G3. The server works
well since several years. Three weeks ago the server makes some problems.
After restarting the machine the memory runs low after 3 or for days. I
can't see a reason for this.
Do you have an idea for this?
Here is my config.txt of this machine:

; This is a sample of the slp configuration file.
; Two types of entries can be made: 1) DA entries, 2) SA Register Filters.
; The DA entry allows static configuration of a known DA. This would be
used
; when the DA was out of multicast range and DHCP was not being used to
; configure the DA.
; The static DA configuration format is as follows 'DA <addr type>,
<addr>'.
; The first word must be "DA". The addr type is the address type.
Currently, only
; IPV4 has been defined. IPV6 will be defined in the future. The addr is
; the address specified.
; The following is an example of a static DA.
; DA IPV4, 130.1.1.1
; The SA Register Filter would be used when the administrator wanted all
services
; of a specific service type being mapped to a single scope. For example,
; the administrator wanted all "lpr" printers being registered to scope
"printer".
; The format is as follows: 'REGISTER TYPE "<type name>" to SCOPE "<scope
name>"'.
; The parser will look for REGISTER, TYPE, and SCOPE as keywords followed
by quote on
; a single line. Example:
; REGISTER TYPE "lpr" to SCOPE "eng"
; The last line must contain a line feed and char return. A semi-colon
specifies a
; comment.

; This is a sample of the slp configuration file.
; Two types of entries can be made: 1) DA entries, 2) SA Register Filters.
; The DA entry allows static configuration of a known DA.
A semi-colon
specifies a
; comment.

Alex,
I just switched over to Netscape Messenger from OutLook and I didn't

did not see that you had already had responses to your post. Sorry for

We're using migtoolbox-1.1.1 with Jato 1.1. Do we have to modify
the UpdataQueryModel.java file or other ? Or could i use jato 1.2
to replace 1.1 ?
The following is log from AppServer. Could i receive the migtool

Alex,
If your implied question is, "Looks like the iMT did not migrate
this block
of code. What is my next step?" Then I have an answer for you. If
I
misinterpreted your email then please clarify.
The procedure for ND migration using the iMT (as outlined in the
documentation
under <iMT_install_dir>/docs) is that customized code originally
provided by
the ND developer is purposely commented out so that the file can
compile.
Our experience in migration efforts shows that it is preferrable to
the
migrator to be able to select which part of the application they
want to
work
on by uncommenting specific blocks of code - allowing for
incremental
edit/compile/test cycles. If we left all this arbitary code un-
commented,
then nothing would compile after migration and you would have a huge
roadblock for moving forward.
Judging from the "spider" APIs which are still seen in your code
block, you
must not have run the Regular Expression API mapping tool which
will take
care of many of this code. I believe that the API mapper will
migrate this
block of code almost 100% and you just need to uncomment it.

Alex,
CSpMultiSQL migrate just fine. You may have had to do something

Can we see the entire exception stack trace, and the code that is

Also, what database are you hitting?

Out of curiosity - How do you modify the memory parameters for
the container's VM ?? I know I should try to do some research but
figured you may already have some insight and willingness to
share.
Please consider this as low priority. It differs by container; I don't remember details of any particular one.

Getting "ORA-01002: fetch out of sequence" after migrating into 10g
Hi All,
We are getting the mentioned error after migrating from "Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.8.0 - 64bit Production" to "Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bit", when running a procedure.
Have anyone faced this problem before? I have searched a lot but the solution provided is to not to use commit inside loop. We are not using FOR UPDATE with cursors.
Any idea why the procedure running succesfuly in 9i is giving error in 10g.
PROCEDURE is very complicated and calling a lot of other procedures and functions.
Thanks in advance,
JeneeshHi Boneist ,
Actually the code structure is like this. Loping through 140,000 records.
declare
cursor c1 .....;
begin
massaging data;
for rec in c1 loop
do_processing .........
if count is multiple of 5000 commit;
end loop;
other processses;
end;
Error is coming after the commit. But the same code is working fine in 9i.

migrating to Solaris 10_x86 - facing lot of crashes originating at
Motif Xm/Xt libraries like libXm.so.4, */usr/X11_LINK/lib/libXt.so.4*.
Did anyone face this kinda issue before?..Pls help me solving the issue...
Is there any patch+ that I need to install or do you have any other suggetions...?You may be facing a lot of crashes when migrating form SPARC to x86 systems, if memory leaks are not taken care properly, especially when you are using Motif.
Memory leaks can cause serious problems with X Toolkit programs. Since event driven programs often call the same resource handling code repeatedly, even small leaks can result in large problems.
Memory leaks errors are common when getting and setting resources. When setting a resource, you must decide if the widget copied the value so that you can free (or modify) your copy. When getting a resource, you must decide if the widget returned you a copy that you must free.
Somehow, the solution for the Application crash. It was because of memory leak/improper memory deallocation/allocation. -
Main icons are missing on Dreamweaver cs5.5 after migrating from one mac to another
Can someone help me? My icons are missing after migrating dreamweaver cs5.5 using migration assistance on a mac. I have no idea how to fix this...
Migration Assistant is not recommended for transferring DW to another system.
Uninstall DW in full and do a fresh re-install of DW from the installer (either CD/ DVD or a .DMG file). -

Does anybody know how I can fix this?
Any help Appreciated...I had this problem too after migration. I also could not save contacts. It turned out to be a problem with home folder permissions screwed up after migration.
1. Turn off filevault if it's on, wait until decryption is done.
2. Restart your computer into Recovery partition by press and hold cmd-R after the chime
3. Launch the Terminal app from the utility menu at the top of the screen.
4. Type in “resetpassword” and hit return (all one word)
5. Password Reset Utility launches
6. Select the volume containing the user account
7. Select the user account from the popup list
8. Click the “Reset Home Folder Permissions and ACLs” button in the lower right.
9. When it is done, restart your computer. -
question: How do I open CS5.5 after migrating to new laptop w/ Mac OS 10.8.4? I received a dialogue box stating I needed to run Java SE runtime (or something to that effect), when I ok'd it, and try to open cs5.5 Indesign, the program quits on startup. If I uninstall program & reinstall, will my documents be unscathed, or are they toast? Help!
Hi Art Bunny Rabbit,
Migration from one machine to other causes problem most of the time. So I recommend you to reinstall the software. Done worry none of your documents will be effected.

UnrecoverableKeyException after migrating to AMD 64 bit
Hi,
After migrating from 32 bit to AMD 64 bit, I'm getting an UnrecoverableKeyException when retrieving a key from an existing keystore. The provider is Bouncy Castle.
I have reproduced the problem using only keytool on the command line.
I wanted keytool to attempt to retrieve the key so I tried cloning it with -keyclone.
This is the result running java version 1.5.0_06 on 32 bit
colin@warthog /tmp $ keytool -keyclone -alias symmetricKey -keypass "xxxxxxx" -new "password" -keystore ./symmetricKeyStore -storepass "xxxxxxx" -storetype BKS
Enter destination alias name: dummy
keytool error: java.lang.Exception: Recovered key is not a private key
Now here is the result running java version 1.5.0_06 on AMD 64 bit
jboss@mrmessy:/tmp$ keytool -keyclone -alias symmetricKey -keypass "xxxxxxx" -new "password" -keystore ./symmetricKeyStore -storepass "xxxxxxx" -storetype BKS
Enter destination alias name: dummy
keytool error: java.security.UnrecoverableKeyException: no match
The "Recovered key is not a private key" exception should be what I get on 64 bit also but I get the UnrecoverableKeyException which is what I get in my java code aswell. So it is happening both in my java code and in keytool.
I'm not really sure how to proceed from here and I was hoping someone here might point me in the direction. Even if you could just give me some better testing ideas, I'd appreciate it.
Regards,
Colin Daly.It was simply the java install on the server did not have the unrestricted policy files from jce_policy-1_5_0.zip intalled. If you ever have problems with bouncycastle, I recommend running their regression tests before going any further...
