Memory Requirements/Benefits

G4 dual 1.25 with 1.25 GIG DDR RAM - Panther 10.3.9
- Currently the system performance monitor seems to be maxing out with some configuration of the following:
1 BFD instrument
2 Stylus RMX instruments
5 to 10 EXS instruments
1 or 2 space designer reverbs
1 adaptive limiter
- possibly adding a few audio tracks - but sometimes using no audio tracks...
- is that all that my G4 dual 1.25 can take?
- I am curious what the ideal memory configuration is for this G4 computer running logic 7.11?
- I am also unclear as to what benefits extra memory will provide for logic? - if the CPU is Maxed out - what benefit will extra memory provide in logic?

There is a real cool little freeware app that someone
here recomended to me called Menumeters, it sits on
your menu bar for monitoring system performance. I
like it!
http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/10451
not sure why - but after installing and rebooting and trying this - I got my first kernal panic in months!
- I also ran printer setup repair prior to rebooting...
... any ideas what caused this?
Q: is Menumeters safe?

  • Is there any tool or method to find the exact disk space/memory required for a query to execute in certain time

    Hi,
We have SSIS Package, which in-turn executes some Stored procedures .
This Package runs fine at certain time, say 30 minutes which is acceptable. But sometimes, it takes around 1.5 hr. There was no modification done to the package, and the amount of data handled by the package is also same.
I have a doubt that some other big process may be running in parallel when this package is getting executed.
All the Databases are on D drive in the server and currently there is 140 GB free space out of 1 TB.
Now, using sp_who2 I can check what are the big processes which are running in parallel when this package is getting executed and get their Disk I/O.
Now having these information, is there any way to determine, amount of space/memory required to execute a particular query in 30 minutes.
Or to put a question in other way, I have a query and I know its acceptable execution time(30 min). Now is there any way to determine the criteria to get that execution time.
NOTE: The query is optimized and required indexes are created. It was running fine, until 1 week back. Suddenly the execution time has increased.
Can some one please help me in this. Please let me know if you need any further information on this.
Also whenever these jobs are running, sometimes job activity monitor and SSMS gets frozen. Any idea what does this indicate?
    Thanks in advance,
    Raksha

    Perhaps blocking?

  • Application Server Memory Requirements from 4.6C to ECC 6.0

The projected physical memory increase for the Application servers from 46C to ECC6 appears to between 45% - 66%.  This is based on the delta notes 517085, 752532, 778774 and 901070.  It also appears from a presentation from Christian Oehler called "Transition and Upgrade to SAP ERP" to be the case.
I cannot find anything in the above referenced SAP notes that indicates where this additional memory is consumed, so I'm concerned SAP is factoring in new functionality and/or JAVA stack in this.  Furthermore we have upgraded our HR system from 46C to ECC6 sometime ago and included JAVA and saw around a 20% memory increase.
We are doing a strictly technical upgrade and are not turning on new functionality at this point (no JAVA stack), we are also not increasing user population.  Our Test Systems, which have production data volumes do not reflect any growth in this area,  but we are not stressing it with user load.
Does anyone have an idea of what we could/should see given the nature of our upgrade?  We are preparing for a 25% increase in App server memory, but not for 50% plus.  We are not doing a sizing exercise since this is just a technical upgrade and the GLFU service has yet to start.
If anyone has any insight into what should be expected or what they have seen for memory requirements from 4.6C to ECC 6.0 Application Server sit would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi Mark,
More memory is required because ECC 6.0 is much more huge system than 4.6C. If you are planning to increase server memory by 25% only, than you can see performance problems if system will be heavyly used. But it depends mainly on number of WP and active users. 25-50% more memory is required if you are not installing J2EE addin afterwards. If you are planning to convert the database to Unicode, than you will need an additional memory....
It's not easy to say 25% will be enought or 50% is required, but I would suggest to go to 50% at least.

  • How do I determine memory requirements?

A development team asked me to determine memory requirements for Oracle Portal 10.1.4 implementation. I don't know how to do that, since I am not a software engineer or a systems analyst. The assumptions are: 1.) 6,000 users at peak, with incremental build out over a 24 month period, 2.) about 1,000 users that are actively submitting requests at any one time through their browsers (generating actual load on the servers), 3.) total storage usage for the portal is approximately 5 gigabytes, and 4.) OracleAS 10g architecture (with infrastructure and middle tier servers) would be the proposed HA architecture. 5.) access to the portal would be 18 hours per day, possibly 24 hours a day for a period of 4 months.
How would I estimate the memory requirements for access and storage for this critical mission portal?

  • Is it possible to bypass Sun ONE's memory requirement?

Dose anyone know how to bypass the memory requirement of Sun ONE Application Server at installation time?
We have to install Sun ONE on to some of the laptops (for mobility) but some of these laptops have a maximum memory configuration of 192MB, in which the Sun ONE App Server requires 256.
The platforms we are using are Windows 2000 Server and Windows 2000 Professional. We are thinking of possible patches or modifying the config files to bypass this requirement.

Could you describe what exactly seems to be the problem?
While installer is checking for available amount of memory on Windows platform, it should show warning screen but still let you proceed with product installation.

  • SQL server client memory required

    Hy
I want to ask, that I have a MS SQL 2000 Enterprise edition server. How much memory required per client. I know, the SQL system memory required (more 1 G) but my question is, if my SQL server use plus one client, how much memory must take in my blade?
    pls help

Although there are some thumb rules out there, it is hard to tell as you did not specify which kind of access the users are doing at the database. For ressource intensive querying you should put more memory in your server, where on the other hand you would not have that much memory for users doing plain and simple (Select / DML ) operations. How many users do you have, how many are connected on average, what are they doing on the database ?

memory requirement is continiously increased when i am running my application program in an infinite loop, after certain time it shows an error called low virtual memory

What are you doing with your program. Lots of improper programming techniques can cause this - building arrays, concantanating strings, opening but not closing refrences, etc. Need more details or post your VI. Also, have you looked at "LabVIEW Performance and Memory Management"? It's part of the shipping documentation and available from Help>Search the LabVIEW Bookshelf.

    Hi Ranjith,
Can you try the following commands on your router and see if it helps:
    configmemory-size iomem 5
If it doesn't and that you are sure you have enough memory on your router to support WAAS Express, I would advise you to open a TAC case to have this investigated in depth.

  • CUCM 6.X - VmWare Memory Requirement

    Hi there,
I just installed a CUCM 6.x on a VmWarare and it's seems to works fine except....
From another PC, I access it by web and it is so slow.. It's pretty much if I can't login because it's too slow.
What are the physical memory requirement on the PC that I've install the Vm to run CUCM.
    thanks a lot

    Hi Philippe,
What OS are you running? Have you thought of running Linux?
Linux would run this more smoothly then windows will especially with so little ram.
I would set the OS as linux and install VMWare Server. Load the VMWare Image. Back online.
    or
Upgrade your ram to atleast 1gb. Set your pagefille to 1.5 GB min and 1.5 max with the Windows OS as this will help in stoping your windows os in pagefile allocation.

We are in the process of trying to figure out what the minimum hardware requirements are for installing the R12 Vision instance. This Vision instance would only have 5 or less concurrent users. We may have to order a new server and we are wondering what the minimum CPU and memory would be? Oracle Support will not give us this information.
We aleady know how much disk space it will need.

  • Memory requirement MAM

    Hi
I have installed MAM 2.5 on my PDA with 128 MB of RAM (Processor: Intel PXA270). Now i have about 500 functional locations, but I can not say that I am impressed about its performance. In real life we will need to have almost 100 000 functional locations. Can this work and what would the requirement for memory be?
Do anybody have experiense with souch a scenario?
What is the advantage of using the database on a PDA?
    Best Regards,
    Morten

    Hi,
Thank you for your response.  This is a customer requirement to have this many objects on the device.  I realize that you can enter the data and the mapping is provided later, but due to the complex character string the customer uses in PM to identify functional locations, a manual entry of this sort will error 75 % to 85% of the time.  The errors will have to be manually corrected in the middleware. It may be possible to reduce the number of Functional Locations to something between 7,000 to 10,000 per user, but due to the structure of our PM module, some users will absolutely be responsible for up to 40,000 equipment objects on any given day.  And it is also a requirment that they choose from a displayed list rather than enter them in an uncontrolled way.  We also have a very complex catalog for cause codes to limit the amount of manual text enty required, and also improve reporting capabilities with consistent data. The listing of Notifications and Workorders are not a problem, it is the catalogs, functional locations, and equipment data that is causing memory problems.  I gather from reading previous posts that limiting the data on the handheld is a good idea, but we really can not limit the data any further than we already have.  I am beginning to realize that maybe SAP Mobile is not the best solution for our requirements.
With regard to "Additional Master Data":  where in SPRO is this?  I have looked at the Mobile Asset Management area under Maintenance and Service Processing (Plant Maintenance and Customer Service) and I don't see that field?
    Thanks,
    Jim
