Memory Tweaking in Neo - how? [Newbie]

I have just got the new board and the following components installed:
A64 3200
MSI Neo FIS2R Mobo
1Gb [2x512Mb] OCZ PC3500 Dual Channel Series EL-DDR
2xSamsung 160Gb SATA HDD's in RAID0 Config.
Sapphire 9800 Pro
Antec TrueBlue 480W PSU
I have set up the system by means of creating the RAID and then installing windows etc.
I have now some to the stage where I wish to tweak the memory to utilise the better timings that OCZ memory is capable of. The system is quite stable atm.
At the moment I have the BIOS set to the defaults for the memory handling. I have enabled 'Turbo' mode and this seems to run fine. I have also installed the Athlo64 driver [from AMD web site] and have the Core Centre running.
I am quite new to the memory game since the last PC i was playing with was an old thing that had nothing like the memory settings that are now available. I would like to know how to tweak these memory timings for best performance since I know the memory I have is capable of a lot more.
Can someone give me any tips on how to start going about this. I have the timings set to 'auto' in the BIOS so I will need to start there I guess.
What about the FSB. At the moment it is set to 200 in the BIOS and the core centre changes this according to the load on the PC. If I start changing FSB in the BIOS should I stop using the core centre?

Ok brain, i have this memory running stable now, at everything set to auto.
you can tweak the memory in the bios in the "advanced chipset" and "voltage settings" menus. firstly, unlock the DDR limiter (memlock i think, set it to "limit"). then choose "ddr400" in the menu below it.
set your timings to be 2-3-7-3 (ordered as they are in the bios list, read left to right as top-bottom). then set the voltage settings to 2.8, that should give you stock speeds. after that, just change one thing at a time (i wouldn't change the voltage from 2.8 though). you'll probably fall over if you try 2-2-5-2, but i had mine at 2-3-5-2 and it was OK. I never changed the FSB, and dynamic overclock caused it to fall over on auto settings.
if anything goes wrong, just don't panic, clear your CMOS (check the neo manual for the jumper location, but it's just above the MB switch/light settings) and reboot, hitting delete when you see the core-cell screen. remember that if you've set up a raid you'll have to tweak the bios to recognise it again, but trust me everything will come back to life. if you need a hand, send me a private message and i'll help you out, having built from scratch (first PC build since 1998!) and finally having got mine stable, i've been through it all, and i've gone from unknowing n00b to all knowing nob in a month ;-)

PS. if you set windows without a pagefile (to run from memory) then Prime95 will never work, and you'll perceive it as instable
Memtest86+ is the floppy memory test you refer to, and you can get prime95 from a goole search. you'll be fine

Or, do the update while connected to iTunes, which does not require extra space on your device, and in my experience seems to be a much more reliable update method anyway.

K9NGM: memory tweaking options? Compatibility?

I have recently assembled a SFF pc with a MSI K9NGM motherboard. It works perfect but the BIOS is so basic that there are even no memory tweaking options. It seems that no matter which ram I use, the same default timings are selected (5,6,5,15,2T). The problem is that when you buy high end pc6400 ram(800mhz ddr2) ram you manually have to adjust ram timings and speed in the bios, which in this case is impossible. So if you buy expensive high end pc6400 or just value pc5300 ram they will run at the same speed on this mobo.
My question is will there be a bios update that will allow some memory tweaking in the “advanced chipset features” menu? (like the K8NGM)
What with 2 different memory modules (with different timings, speed)? Will they cause compatibility issues in dual channel with this motherboard? Or will the Bios automatically assign the slower speed of the two?

yes.
also, if it works, don't break it. that mobo is not intended for high-end, and i find it strange that you would shell a lot of money for the high end ram. but if you still want to tweak it, you can use clockgen.

Newbie - memory advice with Neo 875P

Hi,
Sorry if this is a stupid question but I have just bought a new MSI Neo 875P motherboard and an intel pentium 4 2.6C processor. The question i have is i no longer have the funds to buy some DDR400 memory this month so i am forced to use my existing samsung DDR 266 memory for at least a further 4 weeks.
Does anyone know what sort of impact the use of DDR266 will have on my new system (basically will it seem any faster in photoshop / games) than my existing athlon 1.4 on a KT333 motherboard. Or wether this combination of board and memory will actually work and with wnat settings?

Problems with adding 1Gb memory to 848P Neo

I have had an 848P Neo since February now, with only 512Mb, but seeming as some games and applications I have been running are now taking 512Mb as a minimum, I decided to buy another stick of 512Mb PC2700 333Mhz DDR to take me up to 1Gb. But I struck a problem.....
With both sticks of memory in the machine, the computer fails the memory 'POST' test on reboots (not boots from power off, but when something makes it reboot. ie: BIOS or WinXP). When I do get into Windows, the Core Centre utility acts weird too. It locks up the whole machine, whether you are trying to 'restore' it, or adjust the FSB. It won't even shut down or Ctrl-Alt-Del with it (this is surprising as I have never had to turn off or reset it via the case, as all lock ups have been recoverable).
With either of the sticks in on their own, it works fine. eg: Stick 1 in DIMM 1 or 2/Stick 2 in DIMM 1 or 2. But when they both go in at the same time I get problems. Both sticks are of the same CL according to the Everest System utility.
I have been getting help from my magazines forum, but they seem to have hit a dead-end too. Thread is here.
I would also like to add that I don't think it can be because one stick is Kingston (I think) and the other PNY, as I took the Kingston out of my second comp (same memory) and it still wouldn't work.
I hope I can get this fixed soon.

I don't think it is a mixing prob, as I took the other stick from my other computer (all the numbers on the memory chips are exactly the same, except it is a green stick instead of blue), and the problem still existed.

Dual Channel memory problems on Neo 875P

I am having considerable trouble getting the NEO 875P to work with dual channel DDR400 DIMMs. I have two Kingston KVR400X64C25 DDR400 256MB memory modules, each of which works correctly by itself. However, once I move one
of the modules to channel B, I cannot boot my operating system (currently Windows XP.) The problem also occurs in Windows 2000, which I also have on the system. I receive blue screen errors that indicate paging/memory problems. I have upgraded my BIOS to the latest version (1.3)* in the hope that it would solve my problems, but it has not. The POST screen detects that there is 512MB of memory working in Dual Channel mode, but even when it does get through the O/S booting process (rarely), it crashes within minutes. Putting just one of the chips in makes the system perfectly stable. If anyone has any information, please let me know!

* My board was dead after trying to flash the 1.3 BIOS, but after about 10 attempts of using CTRL+HOME method to recover the BIOS, it finally worked with version 1.0. I then re-flashed with 1.3, and it rebooted fine. Are there any updates about all of the problems with v1.3 ?

I've had an interesting development though. I stumbled upon Tom's Hardware Guide's article about 875P motherboards at http://www17.tomshardware.com/motherboard/20030519/i875p-01.html
They mentioned that they needed to increase the memory voltage from 2.5 to 2.6 in the BIOS to get some memory modules to work. I did this, and for the first time, I am running in Dual channel DDR mode. However, the article also mentions that "the system does not run completely stably", so I guess I'll have to wait and see if it crashes again. However, I'm far enough beyond the XP splash screen to post this message, so I guess we're getting somewhere!

You don't have to do anything with the first iPod that you don't use anymore. If you are planning on keeping it, put in a drawer in your house and forget about it.
You don't need a second account to use with the new iPod. I use one Appl e ID and iTunes library for two iPods, and two iPad. I have different content on all four devices. You can select exactly what you want to sync to each device and it can be different content on all devices.

Question 1 / Plan A : When i finished making my movie project in iMovie 11 on Mac, i tried sharing it at all ways such as youtube, export, etc... it kept popping up: "sharing requires more memory to be available". I searched up all day on the internet on how to figure this out, i followed all of their advices but nothing seems to happen. btw i already got permitted for longer than 15 mins video on youtube. it's also weird that my computer has more than 600GB free space. So how do i upload my 2 hour video to youtube? and how do i avoid the popup of "sharing requires more memory to be available"?
Question 2 / Plan B: If plan A won't work out, i definitely don't wanna do this all over again because i took centuries and effort on this. What im trying to do is divide them to multiple projects, and maybe it will let me upload it because of it's file size? So how do i copy parts from a project and paste it to another project or event library so it would be easier for me to finish it in iMovie?
Question 3 / Plan C: If plan B won't work out, how do you screen record my movie with audio? What im trying to do is to record it by screen using quicktime and divide them by parts. I know how quicktime and soundflower works, but when i tried it, but the problem is that soundflower and quicktime audio was very crappy and broken at some point. So how do i record good quality audio with screen recording?
Question 4 / Plan D: If plan C won't work out, i guess the worst way to do this is to record from my phone, its such a bitter idea but i want this to be published in good quality. i am so tired and i took so weeks finishing this project and the ending results just ****** me off. Id be glad if someone has an idea on this problem im occurring. Hope y'all people and mac experts understood on what im struggling about. leave a reply on those of you who might have an idea on solving this problem!

When You select share, are you able to get either of these two windows?
First one is Export As
Second one is Save as QuickTime

hi,
i'm new to this whole smartphone thing. but i've run into this frustration and can't seem to find my way around it.
every time i hook up my phone - iphone 4 - to my computer - macbook 10.7 - they try to sync, and now i don't like having them both on the same wifi because they 'update' behind my back. i don't want 3 days worth of music on my phone. i would rather have more room on the phone for other stuff - apps and whatnot.
i've set every checkbox i can find to NOT sync, and to NOT update, but they do it anyway. the songs that haven't been copied in their entirety have left a place-saver of sorts - a ghost that seems to interfere with playback of songs in a modified album, or if i just try to play from the library - which i do, sometimes.
someone on another post said that since you can't upgrade the memory on an iphone, that they should just delete some music, but it doesn't seem to let me - it puts it there without my permission, and even now that i've deleted all the music from the phone, the library is still full of all these 'ghost' songs that i don't know how to be rid of.

     Switch on iTunes menu > View > Show Sidebar
     Connect and select iPhone under DEVICES in iTunes Sidebar.
     Go through the tabs (top right pane) Summary, Info, Apps, etc.
     and select and de-select what you want on iPhone.
     When finished, click Apply button (bottom right) and then click Sync.

Why is my internal memory so full? How can I find out what is the "other" that is taking up so much space?

I'm not very tech-savvy. My iPhone is backed up on my computer and all my photos are in my computer. I'm going to send it away to have the screen fixed and the people from AppleCare recommended to back it up just in case. So, I am going to backup my computer for the first time since I bought it in mid 2011. I go see how much space I need and I see that I only have 15 GB of memory space left and this huge space being used up by "Other". I don't know if its because I updated it to Mavericks. How can I see what that is? Also, I've never downloaded movies so I don't know why that is also there. Please help ASAP!

"Other" is everything that isn't in one of the other categories. For instance, it includes all your user documents that are not movie, audio, or photo files.
Regardless of that, you need to use an external drive at least large enough to backup your entire user folder (the one with a House icon). Better is to get one at least as large as your built-in drive & use something like Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper! to clone the whole built-in drive to it.

Out of memory error - JS Runtime: How many users can one connect?

Not talking video here. Talking interactive apps, like chat. Ours crashes at about 500 connected users. When I report this I'm told "make sure you're not creating too many objects serverside" or "increase the JSRuntimeSize setting in your application.xml file to the max".
Have now done both of those things but still get this out of memory error. Let's say I optomized my app and got 100% more connection capacity. That would be 1,000 connected users - still nowhere near enough.
Are my dreams of 6,000 or 10,000 connected users enjoying all of the fruits of the FMS interactivity pipe dreams? Is it not meant for sessions of that size? Where does one find documentation or advice or application assistance on this issue?
How do large social media applications connect so many people concurrently.

My Mac Mini will charge - but not sync with - USB-connected devices (ipod, camera, memory card reader). I have tried unplugging the devices, restarting the computer, selectively unplugging and plugging in the devices, closing and opening the relevant applications (iTunes, iPhoto, etc). I have tried using different USB cables.
It's like all of a sudden the synching service stopped functioning or recognizing these devices for some reason. The other ports work just fine (monitor).
The only USB-connected external device that appears to be unaffected is the USB SuperDrive and it works on all the USB ports into which I plug it.
How do I fix this?

Open Console in Applications>Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens or doesn't happen.
