Memos in Palm OS Treo 700p to new pda phn - Verizon?
Over three years ago I opted for the Treo 700p because I could transfer my Addresses and Memos to it from my old Sony Clie pda with Palm OS. Now I'm facing the same dilemma as I consider getting a new smartphone: is there any that will import my hundreds of contacts and 1000+ memos? (My memos are not little notes that could be added into contacts info but long lists and documents!) Help ... is there anything on the market with Verizon Wireless that has memos and can import my addresses?

Installing a current Palm 650 Treo on a new computer
I have a Palm 650 Treo that I have been using on my old XP computer. The computer crashed and as it was old I bought a new Windows 7 computer. In attempting to use my Software Installation CD to get my new computer in Sync with my hand held I find I cannot Install teh thing. It tells me it cannot connect to the internet and that I should turn it on. I double checked that it is on but retrying does no good. Now when I reinsert the CD I get a screen that asks me if I want to Set up my email Get Help, Add Software etc. I have a Palm Desktop Icon on my desktop but it asks for a user name and does not offer a name to choose from. Can someone help me here. Please?

Isync and TREO 700p for VERIZON
I just purchased a TREO 700p and iSync is saying that this is not a supported device. It says that SPRINT'S Treo 700p is supported, but not VERIZON'S. That's absurd.
Does anyone know if I can make the syncs successful with my Verizon TREO 700p?
If not, does nayone know when the VERIZON Treo 700p WILL be supported?
THANK YOU.here is the error i get from palm software. i uninstalled missing sync.

MacBook Pro, BlueTooth Fax Modem with Treo 700p EVDO
MacOSX 10.4.6 w/ all of the latest Software Updates.
I followed the steps below:
1. In System Preferences, go to Print & Fax
2. Open the Printer Browser (click "+" in the Printing tab)
3. Option-click on "More Printers"
4. Select "Advanced" in the popup list
5. Select "Bluetooth-modem" from the "Device" popup that appears
6. Select "Other" from the "Printer Model" menu
7. In the "Choose file" dialog go to System>Library -> Frameworks -> ApplicationServices.framework -> Frameworks -> PrintCore.framework -> Resources -> English.lproj -> Fax.ppd. Note that you can replace English.lproj with the language of your choice.
8. Finally, click Add
Then to FAX...I did the following...
Texedit.App
File -> Print...
and selected the PDF Fax Option.
It acted like it was dialing the fax number (xxx-xxx-xxxx), the Treo 700p lit up like it was receiving the commands, but nothing happened. I couldn 't even get it to dial a normal PSTN number.
Is there something else I need to do?Apparently there is a fee for using any Treo device as a modem through both Verizon and Sprint. While the easy connectivity of Bluetooth is attractive, most people are interested in attaching the Treo via USB for the data speed transfer factor. After heavy research to attempt to connect my iBook G4 to the internet via the Treo 700p without having to pay Verizon's $15 surcharge, I came across USB Modem. USB Modem supports connecting your Mac to the Internet using the Treo 600, 650 and 700p. And instead of paying $15 monthly, this application is only $25 and offers a free trial to make sure it is compatible with your phone and Mac. But FYI...you have to have the 700p to take advantage of the EVDO broadband network.

New Palm Desktop with old Treo 700p
I just had to reformat my drive in my WinXP computer. I did a hotsync before reformatting but I have made changes on the handheld. When I do my initial hotsync will the handheld info transfer to the desktop or will the blank desktop overwrite the handheld?
Post relates to: Treo 700p (Verizon)It should transfer over, however it's never a bad idea to set your conduits using the overwrite features especially when dealing with critical data, so to be safe you should set your conduits to handheld overwrites desktop.

DESPERATE: How to transfer my Treo 680/Palm Desktop info into my new 3GS?
Hello, so I finally bit the bullet and made the switch from my beloved Palm environment to the iPhone. Been on the Palm since they first came out. Yes, PalmDesktop (on 4.2.2. for the Mac) is awful and ugly and out of date, but it's where all my data is. (Trust, am upgrading my Mac when I can, just not the year for that expense too, sadly.)
And I am now up that migration creek of **** I thought I would be.
I have over 3,000 contacts in my Treo, with 300 memos, and a huge calendar dating back to Feb 2000 (no joke). It's like a life diary to me, I want to import it all. My work IS my contact list, so I need to import all 3,000 of them, with all their notes, categories, etc. into my new 3GS.
I am not sure how to do this. Desperately need some hand holding on this import.
Am on a Mac so I don't have Outlook.
Do I have to get everything into iCal and Address Book? How? Has anyone done this and preserved categories?
Do I shell out for Missing Sync and start there? (Anyone used this method?)
My friend and I tried iSync a long time ago and it doesn't preserve the categories, etc. so that isn't an optimal solution.
Am reading a bit online about people transferring from Palm into Google, and then the iPhone? That's a whole other ballgame. Thoughts? How to?
I am so lost. Been online for three hours and have no idea which way to turn.
Here's the desperate part: am leaving for Europe Saturday am, and need to make sure my contacts are in my phone, otherwise I have to drag the Treo along too so I have my data! Ridiculous.
Has anyone done this transfer?
I'd be so incredibly grateful for guidance.
Thank you!!!!Here are your options:
1. Export from Palm Desktop and import to iCal and Address Book Instructions are here:
http://www.palm.com/us/support/downloads/pre/migration/exportical.html
The downer is that this will lose your categories in Address Book, I think.
2. Get Missing Sync here:
http://www.markspace.com/products/palm/palm-sync-software.html?source=pickerpalmosmac
3. Sync the Treo to Address Book and iCal, then connect the iPhone and sync from AB/iCal to the iPhone. Instructions here
http://askville.amazon.com/Palm-Treo-700p-sync-Mac-OS-iCal-Address-Book/AnswerVi ewer.do?requestId=2508818
Number 3 is your best bet - it should retain all the categories etc. However, doing this in a hurry is a recipe for panic. My advice is to try 3 first. If you can't get it to work, try 1. Although that might lose categories, it gets everything onto the iPhone, and the iPhone's built-in Spotlight search will enable you to find people, events etc really quickly. And it's easy and quick. Later on, when you have time, you can try something cleverer.
You don't need Missing Sync -
Palm Treo 700p Cannot install. Windows Vista looking for Drivers
Installed Palm software and synced on my Dell with no issues.
Went to install on 2nd PC with Windows Vista Home. Issues. Got new download for Vista 32 and downloaded off site.
Same error puts me in a circle. System finds new hardware. Looks to install driver. Can't find Drive on CD or Hardrive and so keeps in loop. Cannot finish 1st "sync" without driver so install does not complete.
Please advise:
Can I use the Palm device on two seperate PC's (One on NT running fine..now adding Vista Home).
How do I get the drive installed?
How do I be sure NOT to overwrite the data on the Palm when I sync the 1st time on the 2nd pc.
Thanks
Post relates to: Treo 700p (Verizon)Hello jpmill2 and welcome to the Palm forums.
1. Please make sure that your Windows Vista account is a member of the Administrators group. I would also be sure to check that antivirus software is disabled during the install process.
2. You can use the Treo 700p with more than one computer. I sync my Treo with my office PC running Windows XP SP2 and my Vista Business SP1 machine at home. (And a Mac, just for good measure.)
3. The USB driver for the Treo 700p is obtained by installing Palm Desktop 4.2 (bundled on the Treo 700p software disc) or by installing Palm Desktop 6.2 by ACCESS for Windows [Vista]. You should install the software first, and then connect the Treo after the install is complete. If prompted to HotSync during the install, I aways Skip it.
4. If you Skip the HotSync during the Palm Desktop isntall, you can create a new HotSync ID on the computer with the same name as the HotSync ID on your Treo. Then set the conduits to Handheld overwrites Desktop and then sync.
Hope that helps,
Alan G

Here's the story. I am a long-time Palm power user and I have rarely been stumped but I am very stumped right now. I have used my Palm T|X for several years without any sync problems. I upgraded to a new Palm Treo 700p (Verizon) so I can carry one device instead of a PDA and a cell phone. I initially migrated my data from the T|X to the Treo 700p with no major issues. The Treo 700p worked fine for a couple of weeks until I started using the camera. After I started taking pictures and storing them in the on-board memory, wierd things started happening such as screen freeze-ups, screen white-outs, and processor delays. After talking with other Palm users, I was informed that this behavior is typical of the 700p when pictures are stored in on-board memory and that I should move the pictures to my SD card.
I moved the pictures to the SD card and perfomance improved. However, after another week or so, the freeze-ups started again. Everyone that I know who has a 700p or 700w reports the same issues so I'm starting to believe that the 700p has design flaws or bugs that were never fixed. Due to the frustration and productivity losses that I sustained with the Treo 700p, I decided to revert to my trusty T|X.
I initially started using the Treo on 8/12/2009 and I synchronized the T|X to the desktop before synchronizing the data to the 700p. On 09/16/2009 I started trying to re-synchronize the T|X. I did a hard reset and memory clear on the T|X so all of the updated data in the desktop could come over to the T|X without duplicates. However, when I synchronized the T|X, my data was only updated as of 8/12/2009 even though the palm desktop has data updated up to 9/16/2009!!
Please explain what is keeping all of the updates from coming over to the T|X. Thanks for the help.
Post relates to: Treo 700p (Verizon)Are you sync'ing the 700p to the same username in Palm Desktop as the TX?
If you are, this will cause problems on the new device. When you sync the device, it saves the device settings, 3rd party apps, preferences, etc. in the backup folder in the username folder on the PC. When you sync the new device it copies the contents of the backup folder for the old device to the new device. This will cause corruption in the settings for the new device thus causing erratic behavior of the new device. The TX does not have a camera and you are sync'ing the backup folder for theTX that does not have a camera app. to the 700P.
Click on the following link to the kb.palm.com webpage for the article regarding Upgrading from a previous Palm OS handheld.
http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=12926
I would suggest exporting the data from the current username, create a username for the TX and import the data to that username and only sync the TX to that name. You will need to rename the backup folder in the current username to backup.old, hard reset the 700P and sync to the current username. You will need to hard reset the TX once you have the data in Palm desktop in a seperate username to remove the backup folder contents on the TX.
The best way to preserve your data is to export the data in each category in Palm Desktop to a seperate folder on your PC.
Create a new folder on your PC somewhere that is convenient. Name it something like Palm Desktop Data. Click on the link below and follow the instructions on that page for the export procedure.
http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=28734
Make sure you select all for the range in the export window.
With the data saved in the folder you created, make a copy of that folder and save to a flash drive, cd-rw or external hard drive.
Anytime you make a change in Palm Desktop, export the data that was changed to that folder and save again to the external media.
With this process you can always import the data back into Palm Desktop anytime you have a problem with the data in Palm Desktop or if your computer/hard drive/device crashes.

Treo 700P with contacts - need advice on synchronizing with new outlook user profile
Hello Treo Experts.
I have a Treo 700P.
It is full of contacts.
I have a new Outlook user profile and am unable to synchronize between the Treo and Outlook.
I deinstalled Palm SW and reinstalled it
I am about to 'syhncronize the Treo with my computer
my question is: Is this safe to do? I don't want to lose all my contacts on my Treo.
Any suggestions - greatly appreciated!

Palm Treo 700p How do I delete the User Profile and retain the data?
I want to sync my palm to my computer under a new profile. I don't want to loose the data. How do I delete or change the 700p profile so when I sync it thinks it is a different 700p?
Thanks in advance

Is it possible to sync my 5yr-old Palm Treo 700p to my new iPhone? If yes, please tell me how to do it.
I did sync the Palm to my MacBook Pro and then to my new iPhone. But it only transferred the contacts and phone numbers, no addresses, no email, no notes. I have 2500 contacts in my Treo/iPhone. It would be impossible to enter the missing information by hand.
Post relates to: Treo 700p (Verizon)Notes can be synced with the Mail.app Notes feature on your Mac.

Disable/Delete Web application on Palm Treo 700p
I am trying to figure out a way to disable or delete the web application on my palm treo 700p. Does anyone have a solution for me?
Post relates to: Treo 700p (Alltel)Okay, I see what you mean - The best way is to call your provider and have them block the data network. This is good if you have kids, now you can do it yourself but you most likely be editing the network preference and may lead to unwanted results. Though if you go to preferences and go to network you will see a connect or a disconnect depending on the recent connections made, hit disconnect and no connection will be made until you go to any application that uses data.

Treo 700p will not synchonize with my new computer.
I recently purchased a new computer and the Treo won't sync with it. After searching whatever I could on the web I found out that I can't sync because Outlook 2007 is not configured with work with this model and the treo was synced on my former computer.
How do I synchronize when the old computer is not available? The directions tell me to sync on the old computer and then check sync with multiple computers. I can't do this. I downloaded a trial of Pocket Mirror and that won't work for the same reason.
Thank you for your helo.
Post relates to: Treo 700p (Sprint)What is the OS of your new computer?
If the OS of your computer is windows vista 32 bit then you need to download the pds 6.2 from the website.
if the OS of the computer is xp pro or home, you need to install the outlook 2007 conduit upadter to be able to sync to outlook 2007.
but first we have to take a look what is the problem why you can't perform a HS. is it establishing a connection? or it would sync but hangs/freezes on a particular application? or it would sync but no data is transferred.

Running '07 version of Palm Desktop - Calendar/Contacts etc. on old computer. Copied data & files into folder and placed on desktop of new computer. Installed new version - Palm Desktop by Access onto new computer (Windows 7) & tried to import data from folder - no go. Still have old computer and could save to disk - but not sure how to go about procedure. Or, is there an older version of Palm Desktop available to download on new computer that will allow importing of data from folder? Help !! Thanks.
Post relates to: Treo 650 (Cingular)The best way is to install the Palm desktop version you had with your device and hotsync. If your device is still working install the Palm desktop to your new computer and run a hotsync with the conduits set to handheld overwrites desktop. If your new computer is a 64 bit version of windows 7 read the post 64bit drivers are here. This post has the liink to the driver and install directions. Aceeca 64bit driver
