Men's Health Magazine app

I've been a Men's Health fan for a long time, until now.
$4.99 for the current issue with no subscription plan was insulting enough. The biggest insult is that I accidentally synced my iPad with my work machine which removed all of my apps off the iPad. When I got home and synced my apps back on it, my issues of Men's Health were all gone. Apparently the app doesn't save any of the issues inside of it. I'm not the only one this has happened to.
Emailed the company, no response.
Are app developers allowed to have apps in the store that rip people off?

Several points:
You are addressing other users here, not Apple. This is a users forum.
You, by syncing with the work computer, told iTunes to make the iPad match that computer's iTunes content.
Since you deleted the app, the history went with it.
Recommend you try to download the back issues somehow or contact the vendor to see how to get the back issues.
Remember to practice safe syncing.

  • GQ Magazine App

I've downloaded the app and got the May issue. I see that you can also purchase prior issues from within the app itself. My question is once you've read an issue how do you delete it? I'm not interested in building a library of GQ issues but I cannot find any way of deleting the current issue to make room for future ones. I just want to delete the specific issue not the app itself unless that's the only way to delete the issue.

I'm not buying any more magazine apps until Apple gets this mess ironed out. Most of the magazine apps like GQ and Men's Health don't offer subscriptions and they don't sync the magazines back to your computer. I downloaded an issue of Men's Health and in the process of learning how to use my new iPad, I accidentally deleted the app from my iPad and the issue went with it. I've tried contacting the company twice and no one ever replied.
In addition, I like to save my magazines. Some of them for years. The only good magazine app is Zinio which offers subscriptions and saves all of your issues.

  • Can you move a magazine app designed by another company to Adobe DPS?

My company had a digital company (who shall remain nameless) produce their magazine app under the (digital company's) information. I want to transfer everything over to Adobe DPS because frankly, this digital company did not live up to their promises, have terrible customer service, and are strictly just adding buttons to a pdf (not interactive at all). With that said, do I need to start from scratch and build a new app? Or can I just obtain the app that's already been created? If not, do I just tell the other company to delete our app? Thanks!

If you move to DPS you'll wind up building a new application using our tools and submitting that to Apple as an update to the existing application. Your readers will see an update to the app and when they download it they'll have the new version.
What is more complicated to sort out is whether readers would still be entitled to content they'd previously purchased. That depends a lot on you previous setup, how the previous product handled purchases, etc.

  • I also cannot access part of the App Store, I have been trying to down load a magazine app, it has been trying to connect but it has been taking a long time. Also since I did my last update I have lost the ability to face time, I also cannot open iPhoto's

Since my last update on the newest version iPad I have not been able to download a magazine app that I have a subscription for as well I cannot open iPhoto's or video. When I go into settings and go down to where iTunes Mail etc are it freezes my I pad and I cannot access these. Is there a apple system problem? This has been going on for over a week now.

For FaceTime try the troubleshooting advice given here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3367
    Also try resetting your iPad:
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10-15 seconds).
    No data will be lost.

  • (Help!) Free subscription magazine app - rejected twice for same bug - Specifically, the activity in

    Hi,
Here's the rejection response for the app.
    2.2
We found that your app exhibited one or more bugs, when reviewed on iPad running iOS 7.1, on both Wi-Fi and cellular networks, which is not in compliance with the App Store Review Guidelines.
Specifically, the activity indicator spins indefinitely purchasing a subscription. Please see the attached screenshot for details.
For discrete code-level questions, you may wish to consult with Apple Developer Technical Support. When the DTS engineer follows up with you, please be ready to provide:
    - complete details of your rejection issue(s)
    - screenshots
    - steps to reproduce the issue(s)
    - symbolicated crash logs - if your issue results in a crash log
If you have difficulty reproducing a reported issue, please try testing the workflow as described in <https://developer.apple.com/library/ios/qa/qa1764/>Technical Q&A QA1764: How to reproduce a crash or bug that only App Review or users are seeing.

I had the same rejection the first time. After looking online at Adobe I thought it was a billing issue, so managed to get that rectifed. I hadnt used a shared secret (as it hadnt shown up because, I thought, the billing wasnt setup correctly). After we corrected the billing, I had access to the shared secret which I have used.
Any ideas what else this could be?
The app is a magazine app which is for free subscription. That's the inapp purchase. No folio in app purchases, because they are free. Sent with the first version on the magazine published, although Apple coulnt have got to it as the subscription time's out.
Help! Because this is the second rejection, it's two weeks on and I am getting close to an event which I must have the app live for.
    Thanks for any help,
    Matt

    Hi Neil,
I used the guide to make the issue — so I think everything is in place.
The first time around our billing wasn't setup so I didn't get to generate a shared secret. The second time I did.
I generated the secret — which I can view under the in app purchase for the (free) subscription in manage in-app purchases. That code I pasted into the admin account iTunes Connect Shared Secret panel for the same customer ID (Account ID). I opened the Folio Producer Organiser afterward — how do you know it registers the code? I didn't see anything to indicate such.
One thing — not sure if it's relevant — whenever the app fails it highlights in yellow the languages in the in-app purchase. I selected more languages this time to cover all the different kinds of English. Again, not sure if that's relevant?
Plus when I click the link to view the app in the app store it says it’s not in the UK store and tries to switch to the US, which if you allow it then says it can’t find. I think this is because it’s not approved and the link will be good when that happens (hence I copied that into the section just below the shared secret on the DPS account admin panel).
Honestly, I am a wee bit stumped now.

  • TS1702 How do I resolve error 5011; "Attention: unable to retrieve shared information" on Time Magazine app?

How do I resolve error 5011; "Attention: unable to retrieve shared information" on Time Magazine app?

    Dear Goteamjosh,
When you bought a subscription through iTunes you shouldn't have to login seperately using the sign in which asks you for your timesubscription data (this is only when you are a paper subscriber, in that case your iPadsubscription is complimentary). The login should be automatic if your iPad is logged in to iTunes, if not ,you will see the familiar iTunes loginbox in which you use your regular iTunes data. If the app asks you your credentials with a Time-loginbox, then there is still something wrong with the app. As you can see above, a lot of people have been experiencing problems, which they now seem to have resolved (my app is working OK again, no login data requiered).
Update: I just checked, and my app is not working again either! Back to square one. As we can see above, there is some time-app bug (or server problem or whatever). No use trying to solve it ourselves. I am sure they are aware of it and working on it, i guess we just have to be patient (again!).

  • Time Magazine app problems after latest OS update

Since updating OS my Time magazine app won't download any new issues. Looking at the pre central forums I know this is a problem for other people too. When I click to download it just says 'initiating' and then 'paused'. I've tried this several times, restarted my touchpad and the app, nothing works.
Is anyone working on a way to sort this out? Does anyone know a workaround?
    Thanks for your help.

        catnfran,
I'm sorry to hear that you have been experiencing this issue with your Bluetooth feature! Updates are meant to offer enhancements.
Based on our findings, with the new update, making this change manually would be the recommend option. If needed, we can attempt to master reset the device http://vz.to/1d1KPN1 to see if this helps resolve this particular concern.

    Have restrictions been enabled?
Is it possible that in app purchases have been restricted? Also is it possible that there could be restrictions in place regarding content? Could ratings be in place for the magazines?

  • Is Zinio the only Magazine App?

for my Ipad, is Zinio the only Magazine App? or are there other ones?
Have a comic reader, but played with the Zinio, and I don't really like it, since you can't delete your magazines of of it, and some other painfull things.
    Thank you

Hi! Just wanted to let you know that you CAN delete magazines you don't like or want anymore in your library on the iPad. When you are in your library, in the upper left hand corner, you will see an "Edit" button, tap on that button and it will take you to the screen where you can easily delete and/or restore your publications.... and just select "Done" once your all done.
Hope this helped.... sorry you were unsatisfied about your magazine, hope you will find something you like! The iPad is such a world in it's own.... that it will take FOREVER to know everything on there.... I, personally like the Zinio app, I've got quite a lump-sum of magazines on there.
BTW, if you like any other magazines, search for them individually... be surprise what we come across.... I highly recommend Nat Geo... they even got their own app....
    Cheers!

  • Health kit app dead, data wiped, repeated crashing

My Health Kit app was working fine as of a few hours ago.  Just recently though, I opened it to find and empty dash board with all my data wiped out.  The sources, MFP, Instant Heart Rate, WiThings, all show they are connected, but no data is showing from any of them.  When I tap Create Medical ID, the app freezes or crashes.  When I try and add to the Dashboard nothing happens.  Anyone else having this issue?
    iPhone 6
    IOS 8.02

I don't know about rgrgeo but I am experiencing a similar problem.  I found rebooting the iPhone usually fixes it for a period of time.  Sometimes it requires multiple reboots before the data reappears.  But so far all of the data eventually comes back and none has been lost.  I have been generally impressed with Apple to date but this is really a poor job.  How could something so obviously buggy be released?

  • Attempted/failed install of flying magazine app

I attempted to install the flying magazine app from itunes, It did not install and all I can see is "installing" but nothing happens. I have restarted the phone a number of times, it is an iPhone 5 running iOS 6.02. The phone continually asks me to "update" but when I go to the app, I can see it but the update bar does not move. When I connect the phone to sync to my desktop, a Mac Pro tower, the app does not appear in my list of apps. I'd like to just remove it since I found out that issues need to be purchased even though I am a paper subscriber. Any suggestions on getting rid of this annoyance would be greatly appreciated.
    Eric

Double tap the Home button to bring up that multi-tasking bar, the app should be shown there...tap & hold until they all start to wiggle & a red minus sign appears, remove the app from the multi-tasking bar. Tap the Home buttom when finished. You should now be able to delete the app.
    No restore is needed.
