Menu bar 0% with new battery

I'm going to repost this with some new information. ibook G4 - formerly using newertech battery, whose health was good. - purchased a NEW apple replacement which showed 2/3 charge on the battery lights- no help. The menu bar reads 0% after a PMU reset - then when the battery is left in, it eventually has the "X" across the battery icon showing no battery installed - the ibook runs fine with the power adapter plugged in. PMU resets still no help. Left the computer plugged in overnight and the new apple battery which was 2/3 charge is now 100% (by battery lights) which indicates to me it is charging. How can I get the computer to recognize the battery?
thanks for any help....

Did you restart the computer with the battery installed and the computer plugged in?

You'll want to reset your SMC (System Management Controller). Instructions are simple:

  • Z10 will not charge & with new Battery will not turn on

I have have had my Z10 about a month now, I am gernerally happy with it as a work phone which is similar to my private Iphone5. Unfortunately the Battry life has been reducing on a weekly basis to around 4 hrs between charges. Now it is dead and will not wake up, so I bought a new Battery, now it blinks once the three times but will not turn on.
Any ideas ? The OS is the latest on the Blackberry site, but as I can turn the phone on I can't be more specific.

    Hello,
From your description, if your charger is "known good" (e.g., it can charge other devices), then one can only deduce that something (hardware) inside the BB related to passing power from the charger to the battery has broken. Or that something passing power from the battery to the device has broken.
Regardless, if your charger is 100% fine, then it sounds like a hardware problem for which no amount of OS/software level fixes nor internet-distance diagnostics can be of much value.
I recommend you seek formal support via your official warranty channel. Normally, that starts with your original place of purchase or an authorized service center -- it varies by region.

  • PowerBook gone wild with new battery

My son just got a hand-me-down G4 1.5Ghz 15" PowerBook at work. When he got it the battery would not hold a charge for more than about 5 minutes. We checked the serial number and it was part of the PowerBook battery recall so we requested a battery exchange from, Apple. The new battery arrived today and when he put it in, the PowerBook would not start up even on AC.
He reset the PMU and it seemed to be OK but when the computer went to sleep he could not wake it up. He uplugged it and took out the battery but it will not restart. Also, the charge indicator on the AC adapter turned green after about an hour but the battery indicator in the menu bar still says 0%. He pushed the test button on the bottom of the battery but no lights come on so the battery can't be charged.
Anyone see this behavior on another machine? Any suggestions on what is wrong or how to fix it?
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    David

  • ADF 11 g Menu Bar creation with labels coming from database.

    Hi Team,
I am new to Web Center and ADF 11g along with jdeveloper11g. I have a requirement where I need to create a Menu bar using ADF's menu bar component. The labels displayed in the menu bar would be coming from the database.Menu and sub menu would be a tree structure. Meaning a sub menu may again have a list of menu's.I tried searching the forum but could find examples which created menu bar using task flows so they did not helped me much.
Any tutorial link, code snippet or guidance would be deeply welcomed.
    Regards
    [email protected]

    Hi,
I am not sure how to implement this in a menu bar, but you can mimic the behaviour with an af:tree
    <af:tree value="#{bindings.Departments.treeModel}" var="node"
                         selectionListener="#{bindings.Departments.treeModel.makeCurrent}"
                         rowSelection="single" id="t1">
                  <f:facet name="nodeStamp">
                     <af:goLink text="#{node}" id="ot1">
                    </af:goLink>
                  </f:facet>
</af:tree>If you have a two level hierarchy master-detail you will get an initial expanded list the first level nodes that expand to show the second level.
If you want to initially show the master collapsed then you can add a dummy master to the master view object with one row only,
creating with this way a pseudo three level hierarchy.
To create the binding automatically just DnD from datasources the master as a tree and then add the detail level to the created binding
If you figured out a better way please tell!
    Hope I helped :)

  • Satellite P300-161 - troubles with new battery

I have just purchased a new battery on line for the above laptop.
When I place the battery in the laptop, the orange charging light comes on, and the battery appears to charge.
However, after several minutes, the charge light starts to flash, and stays flashing. I therefore cannot tell if and when the battery is fully charged.
When I take the mains charger out and turn on the laptop, it comes on ok, but the battery icon is showing 'remaining time unknown' and is grey. The charge light is still flashing orange.
When I emailed the company the reply was:
<Hope the battery works well with your laptop.
As a new battery, for the first three times, you should full charge 12hrs. Then discharge, 3% remains then recharge.
Remember for the first three time charge, you should shut down your laptop>
When I charged for 12 hours, the laptop would not turn on.
    The next response was:
<Could you please try to plug and unplug the battery for more times, then recharge.
If the battery still can't work? Would you pls kindly take photos of the battery which was sent by us and your original one to us?
    Just to see barcode(the white label)\part number\fit modle. >
Has anyone any thoughts? My impression was that the battery is faulty.

    Thanks for reply.
The battery in question is a high capacity 7800 mAh. Could this have a bearing on the problem!
I'm not sure if Toshiba do one as large as this.

  • Trying to activate a menu bar icon with no luck :/

Hello everyone, how great is it to assign hotkeys for your application menus.  Yet... for the more interesting users like me, we need to also activate menu bar icon settings, particularly the 'show ink window' in my case.  Respectively iv'e tried every corner in the world for another way of activating that besides the point and click method everyone is forced to use... and came up with no answer... so i figured, what about Terminal? maybe... just maybe there is a Terminal(OS X native command-line tool) command for this, if anyone knows please share!!

    Works fine,on  Toshiba a135...ASUS

  • Menu Bar Problem with picture.

The right corner of my menu bar has vanished completely including spotlight, the date and time, and various system menu icons. Checking to add these icons in the preferences does not do anything. It is as if the menu bar is "extended" off the screen. I tried various things such as resetting the PRAM/NVRAM, SMC, deleting the com.apple.systemuiserver.plist, etc. I tried running disk utility and an archive install but I keep getting an error and can not continue. I even played around with the display settings. Here is a picture:

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

It's not a theme problem by the way.

  • Macbook shutting down with new battery with 15 minutes remaining (consistent)

Just installed a supposed new battery for the White Macbook 4,1 model, from an Amazon seller.  The battery looks authentic, fits well, accepts and fully charges, but it is a little more yellow in color than the rest of the casing.  That's all I can find wrong with it.
The problem I am having is that the macbook will shutdown consistently with ~15 minutes left on the charge (under 10%).  I get no low battery warning.  I have tried numerous SMC and PRAM resets with no luck.  Battery temperature and computer temperature appear to be fine so the unit is not overheating.  The only indication I can assume is suspicious is that the battery will draw over 2 amps at times as that magic time remaining approaches.  Battery cycle count is 3 and remaining capacity is over 5300 mAh.
Here is the pertinent info from System Profiler:
    Battery Information:
      Model Information:
      Manufacturer:          DP
      Device Name:          ASMB0?6
      Pack Lot Code:          2
      PCB Lot Code:          0
      Firmware Version:          110
      Hardware Revision:          500
      Cell Revision:          102
      Charge Information:
      Charge Remaining (mAh):          631
      Fully Charged:          No
      Charging:          No
      Full Charge Capacity (mAh):          5336
      Health Information:
      Cycle Count:          3
      Condition:          Normal
      Battery Installed:          Yes
      Amperage (mA):          -836
      Voltage (mV):          10900
I'm running Lion 10.7.2 with 4 gigs of RAM installed.  I've read the Firmware version of this battery (110) needs updating but I can't find an updater that will run in Lion.  I also don't understand what ASMB0?6 means in the device name (what's up with the ?).  Again, the battery appears to be a legit Apple product and brand new by the cycle count (3).
Can someone help me resolve this issue?

    HI kostby,
I've been trying to calibrate the battery but can't do the 5-hour sleep procedure since the computer doesn't go to sleep.  Although I have noticed that the last time the shutdown occurred, the battery indicator light was one and blinking.  So the battery thinks it is drained but the computer does not (hence 15 minutes remaining and no low battery warning).  So I took the battery out of the computer last night with blinking indicator light and left it alone overnight.  I reinstalled the battery this morning and am charging it now.  Hopefully it calibrated.
If not, I am going to ask for a replacement from the Amazon.com seller, since I just bought it "new".
    Thanks for your insights.

  • Satellite A100-225 is not charging even with new battery

Hi, Having a charging problem. Laptop suddenly shut down whilst using. Tried to start up but power light goes out and it shuts down again. With battery connected and ac adapter switched on the blue power light and yellow battery light stay on a few seconds and then shuts down, not allowing start up.
Took the old battery out thinking it was that and my laptop starts up fine using just the ac adapter as this is how I am currently posting this. Refit the battery and the power light comes on and off again every few seconds and prevents start up.
Have purchased a new battery thinking it was faulty but to no avail, exactly the same problem.
Left the laptop off to charge the new battery but noticed the blue power light and yellow battery light going on and off together every few seconds.
If I try to start the laptop up while the power light is on it starts to start but as soon as the power light goes out it stops. My thoughts are the charging unit inside my laptop is shorting out but I am no expert.
Does anyone have any idea what the problem is and would it be expensive to fix as I have just spent 48 on a e new battery.
    Thanks Mick

    >Refit the battery and the power light comes on and off again every few seconds and prevents start up.
Are you sure that the battery is compatible ? did you purchase the genuine battery from Toshiba ASP?
I think batteries from 3rd party retailer could not be compatible always so I would test the notebook with a battery recommended by Toshiba.
At the other hand it could be a motherboard problem but if the notebook start up properly using the AC adaptor, I would not be quite sure if its really a mobo issue.
    Try also this:
Remove battery and AC adaptor, press power button 30sec long.
Then insert the battery and connect AC adaptor and check if you could power up the unit.

  • PowerBook shuts down even with new battery

My mom has a 12" PowerBook that she recently purchased a new battery for. Even with this new battery, the laptop shuts down seemingly randomly before the battery gets even down to 20%. They sent a new battery, and the laptop still does it.
    Any ideas?

Sounds like the power manager needs replacing. See these sources which may be able to fix it for less than Apple:

  • Turning menu bar on with title bar off

I love how the title bar is gone from Firefox 4 and when I press ALT I can get the menu bar up next to the FIREFOX drop-down
I want to turn the menu bar on permanently, but as soon as I do the title bar comes back and the Firefox drop-down goes away (taking up more real estate).
How can I turn on the menu bar but keep the title bar off and the Firefox drop-down on?

You can't. You can either see the menu bar or the orange Firefox button.<br />
You can however customize the Firefox button or place extra items on the title bar.

  • Freezes on startup screen with new Battery

laptop works fine with old Battery just battery will no longer hold a charge installed a new Battery freezes on startup screen ran battery test ok got a 2nd new Battery using the numbers off the old one same thing followed hp noteboook pcs testing and calibrating the battery everytime the first part says battery ok the 2nd part says na. reinstall old battery laptop works fine

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read about your Compaq-Presario and having an issue with the New battery. Here is a link to test and calibrate the battery.
Plug the power adapter directly into a functioning wall outlet. Do not plug it into a power strip, surge protector, or secondary power source as this could cause and issue.
If that does not help try the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery is basically the driver that communicates between the computer and the battery. There is a chance that it is corrupted. It is reading the battery level wrong, so the computer thinks the battery level is higher then what is actually is, so when it runs out of juice it shuts down.
Step 1. Go to Device Manager
    Step 2. Select Batteries
Step 3. Right click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there
    Step 4. Click Uninstall
Step 5. At the prompt put a check in the box to remove the current driver
    Step 6. Shutdown the computer
Step 7: Remove the battery for minute and then put it back in
When the computer comes back up it should automatically find the driver.
Step 8. Go to Device Manager
    Step 9. Select Batteries
Step 10. Right click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there
Step 11. Click "Search automatically for updated driver software"
Do the same thing with Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Embedded Controller.
    Hope this helps.

  • X201 random shutdown with new battery

    Hi all,
I use my X201 for 4 years now without any trouble. The original battery getting worned out, I replaced it with a 9Cell Duracell (Sanyo) one.
Since then and only when I use the new battery, AC unplugged, my laptop randomly shuts down with no warning. No overheating issue.
The Win7 logs point to powerfailure (Kernel Power at restart shows error 61)
Any clue about i)the reason for this bizarre behaviour ii)the cure
I would gladly purchase a new Lenovo battery if only I were sure to solve the problem ...
    regards and thanks !

    Hi, clahaye
    nice to see your success!
Refering to the solution you've found the lock slider should be only mechanical device. Is there a chance one of the battery electrical contact wasn't reliable while the slider was open? I left the slider opened on my x220 many times w/o issues.

  • PowerBook enters sleep mode with charger on and with new battery in Full

    Hi all,
My powerbook enters in Sleep mode when it has a lot of energy. I have the powerbook with the charge on and battery in full charge and it still goes to sleep mode. It happens even when I'am working a lot with the computer. It appears that when a left my computer go to sleep over night the next day e goes a lot to sleep even when I'am working with the computer. I have tried to use just the charger, and just de battery but the error continues. I havemy power setting and it is e best performance (and it never goes to sleep in this mode).
I can only avoid this if I never put the computer to sleep, because I i put it i will start putting it self to sleep.
I have bought a new battery (7 months) and a new charger (2 month) recently, could be this the case?
What is happening to my computer?
It is my computer to ald and tired and needs to sleep a lot :/ ?
    Thanks for any help!

The date only goes to 1970-01-01 if e click in power on without the battery and the AC adapter.
If I remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter e wait many minutes and put back on the battery and the AC adapter a switch the power back on the date staid the same.
I have notice one other think, some times the new battery that a bought in apple store does not charge (a have to remove the AC adapter a plug back in for it to charge), the AC adapter is correctly plug-in but it does not charge. I am begging to suspect that it is something wrong the the hardware (or the battery or the charger) sell by apple store.
Is the any place for replace bad hardware still in warranty in apple store?
What is the place to contact apple suport for this matters?
    Thanks!
