Menu bar auto hiding in full screen

Using OS X Mavericks and all of aa sudden when ever i use full screen mode in any app the menu bar autohides.  Is there a setting somewhere where i can turn this feature off?

Thats the entire point of full screen mode, is to hide all Mac OS stuff. And in certain apps, that will hide some of it's own stuff. Like for example Safari, it will hide the "favorites". While the address bar and "tabbed" windows stay visible.

  • How to lock bottom control bar from auto-hiding in full screen mode

I am using Flash Player with ie in Win7. It is very irritating while watching YouTube videos for the status/control lbar to keep auto-hiding. When the bar auto-hides, the pause/play position becomes the progress bar position - and a click where Pause used to be resets the video to start. How can I keep the bottom control bar from auto-hiding in full screen mode?
Thank you, Steve  [email: [email protected]]

There's nothing you can do to Flash Player, itself, to prevent this from happening.  Apparently, there's no way to disable via youtube, or google, either  -- http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/youtube/_E5yFvNJCPk
You SHOULD be able to call up the bar by hovering the cursor at the bottom of the screen and then, after a a second or two,  click on the pause button.    (It shouldn't restart the video in other words.)  But, if for whatever reason,  this doesn't work,   just click once in the center of the screen to pause the video.   To restart,  click the center of the screen again.

  • How to disable the menu bar from hiding and fix screen?

I've looked thoughly to find the answer online, system preferences and here with no luck. I recently updated my software to Mac OS X 10.7.4. Now the menu bar is automatically hiding, but reapearing when I mouse over and the screen in all windows are too wide and long. When I click the 'green' icon for resizing the window, it sizes it too wide and long. I am not in full screen and do not have enlarge on (COMMAND +) and i've check the display settings. Maybe Mac added this as a feature with the update thinking people will like it but I don't like it at all, my typing in an email is not visable on the right. Can someone please tell me how to turn this feature off? Also the resolution/clarity of my screen is not as good since the update. It is not much of a difference but enough to make my eyes hurt a bit.
    thanks for your help!

Yes it is Aluminium. Yes I checked that it is set to 1280 by 800 and changed the resolution and changed it back many times to see if that would help. Is this not a new feature with the new OS X update? Thanks

  • Why does the white menu bar stay when in full screen?

Shortly after up grading to 3.4.1 this stated to happen:
    1. I open App, not in full screen
    2. press the "f" key, it's takes me to full screen mode but the white Aperture menu bar remains at the top, hideing adjustments.
    3. I press the "f" key to get out of full screen & I loose both full screen & the "regular" viewer.
Not sure what's going on....by the way, it sometimes functions without this problem.
    Any thoughts out there?
    Thanks.

Chrome may somehow be set to run in full-screen mode. I don't use Chrome so can't check its settings options, but try hitting ESC when Chrome is doing this and see if you get the menubar and Dock to reappear.

  • Keep menu bar visible in all full-screen apps?

Where is the system-level setting to ensure that, even when I maximize an application, the menu bar is still visible. I don't like having to move the mouse to see the battery life, wifi signal, date etc. I'm on Yosemite, if it matters. To be clear, I'm not looking for a workaround that will provide these various bits of information elsewhere. I want to know how to mandate the menu bar stay visible.

swipe three fingers up to see the screen with all your apps spread out and at the top there will be windows with all your full screen apps.  go all the way to the right of that with your mouse at the top and a window with a  + sign will stick out from the side of the screen.  Click it and it will create a second desktop.  then if you put an app in full screen** in each desktop (and hide the dock) your screen will keep the menu bar and you will still be able to flip between open apps just as if they were full screen!!
EDIT - I meant if you maximize an app on each desktop.. sorry

  • Menu bar does not show on screen?

Menu bar does not show on screen.

I'll assume your profile is wrong (10.4.7?) and you are using Lion in full screen mode.  If so click the double arrows in the menu bar which should appeare if you mouse into the menu bar area.
If that isn't the case then are you zoomed in?  Contol + fingler drag on mouse (or scroll wheel) zooms in or out (see Mouse preferences, Screen Zoom, look at the little movie).

  • Something I have inadvertently done has removed the menu bar, the toolbars. The screen 'rolls' down when I move the cursor to the top of the screen otherwise it is in full screen all the time.

I was working on an email last night and must have set something on which I do not want. When I state firefox, it comes up full screen but without any menu or toolbars. Even when I move the cursor to the top of the scrren to reveal what is there, there still is no menu or toolbars showing.

If you run Firefox in full screen mode then press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle (Mac: command+Shift+F).

  • Cache Cleaner ruined my menu bar, no longer able to screen shot

not sure if anyone is familiar with this application "Yosemite Cache Cleaner". i just started using it. tried out the light scan and auto restored my computer then messed my top menu bar... well its off screen i can not see the time or the wifi icon it almost looks like the other half of the menu bar is on another screen by HDMI but in this case its not. i have nothing connected to this computer but my midi controller and a pre amp (always) anyways . i have dropbox and g-drive installed i can see those but any notification that pops up i can only see half of it. so of course i contacted this company immediately. i get a response back they are asking me to "screen shot my problem" so i try to screen shot and nothing happens, my screen flashes once and then the more i tried, the more screen flashed with an error sound. can anyone please help me solve this problem?

First, delete the fake "utility," which is a scam. Caches don't need to be "cleaned."
Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Menu bar no longer on both screens.

I just upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite. I use two monitors and I really like having the menu bar available on both screens, which was new to Mavericks. I also use spaces heavily to manage having several applications running at the same time. For example on one space I will have an internet browser on one monitor and my finder window on another. Then I will have another space with a coding application and another browser for pre-viewing web page designs, then another with Adobe photoshop and Illustrator on either screen. I like to keep the spaces linked so I don't get too lost moving back and forth between spaces.
The problem is, now in Yosemite when I link the spaces together so it switches both screens at the same time the menu bar only appears on the primary monitor. Then if I am using an application like photoshop which relies a lot on the menu bar for funcionality, and it is on the secondary monitor I have to go all the way over to the opposite monitor to access the menu.
Does anyone know if there is a way to keep the spaces linked without the menu bar disappearing?

After not using the computer for 30 minutes, the menu bar is now working again.  Must be a bug...

  • Menu bar at upper left of screen not visible

I have lost the menu bar that appears in the upper left corner of the screen ("File", "Edit", "View", etc., as well as the back/forward arrows). I restored it on Internet Explorer -- how do I restore it on Firefox?
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== I tried (finally successfuly) to get rid of AOL

Hit the '''Alt''' key to show the Menu bar, then open View > Toolbars and select Menu bar, so it has a check-mark.

  • Action bar under page in full screen--how to hide it

I have a new macbook pro. When I go into full screen view, I get my blank page with a black background. Under the page is a white version of the "action bar." A white page count floating on the black background. My old macbook pro didn't do this--the only thing I saw was the page--no other notes of any kind. That is what I would like. HOW DO I GET RID OF THIS? I cannot find a control for it anywhere. In preferences I found a way to delete the floating word count that iused to be there also--but how do I get rid of it altogether. It's driving me mad--help please!!---Thank you!

As I didn't keep version 4.0 and 4.0.1 I don't know if there is a change with the updates.
As the word count and the pages count are displayed even when the preferences are set to "Don't display the word count", it may be a bug.
BUT, as the pages count is always displayed in standard mode, maybe Apple choose to display both values when full screen is activated.
_Go to "Provide Pages Feedback" in the "Pages" menu_, describe what you wish.
Then, cross your fingers, and wait _at least_ for iWork'10

  • Spry Menu Bar goes to left of screen

When I roll over this, the entire Menu Bar drops down to  the left hand side of the screen in a vertical format - would anyone  know why?

  • Menu bar translucency not working after screen sharing

I've taken a screen shot of my desktop
    http://picasaweb.google.com/victor.a.tran/Mac/photo#5202983242362095218
As you can see the top 1/3 of the menubar is white/light grayish.
This happened only after doing a screen share and I can't get it back to the original Leopard menubar, the only thing I can do to make it look "normal" is to turn off menubar translucency.
Anyone know how I can get the tranlucent menubar back?

All you have to do is create a sub directory on the remote server called junk or whatever, uploade the files there and supply a link. When things are sorted, you can delete the subdirectory.

  • Where have my menu bars gone for full screen apps?

    Hello
Liking Lion so far but a quick query:
When I first started using it, I could make the menu bar appear in a full screen app by simply moving the cursor up to the top of the screen and holding it there - the menu bar would appear within a second.
Now, nothing happens. I have to either quit the application - or I've now found that CTRL/CMD/F pulls me out of the full screen - but then that puts the app back onto the main desktop.
Is there anything I might have done to alter this behaviour?
    Thanks..

I think you are right and it's a bug.
I can't reproduce it on my system. You might want to
create a new User go to System Preferences > Accounts > "+" (make it an admin acct) and test full screen in this new account, to see if the problem is isolated to your User or systemwide.
