Menu Bar crashing every 10 seconds
The menu bar crashes every 10 seconds (crashes-10secs-restart-crashes) and I cant find anything that will make it stop. I have run repair permissions, uninstalled istat menus, logged in to another account, and gone though the library and deleted everthing to do with istat.
Also restarted multiple times but it doesn't fix the problem. All functions/features that are controlled from the menu bar still work (ie. airport, bluetooth). Learning from previous experience i have uploaded a youtube video of the problem. www.youtube.com/watch?v=UovWVjxZvK0
Thanks Deshan

Go to /Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systemuiserver.plist and delete that file. Then, restart.

Adobe Premiere CC crashes every ~10 seconds
Hi, today I installed Premiere CC and After Effects CC on a computer at work. Here are the specs of the computer.
BIOS: BIOS Date: 01/10/13 08:20:50 Ver: A12.00
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz (8 CPUs), ~3.4GHz
Memory: 8192MB RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 11
Graphics: Intel(R) HD 4000
I edited some footage for about 30 minutes, and then Premiere crashed. I figured I was about done anyway and opened up AE, and worked for awhile. I switched back to Premiere to do more work, and it started crashing every ~10 seconds. So I'd open, edit for about 6 seconds, save, and it'd crash. Reopen, edit for a few seconds, save, etc. I finally finished the editing, but of course it wouldn't stay open long enough to export anything.
So I opened up AME, and dragged the .prproj into it. For awhile, it would just say "Reading XMP" for a long time, and so I eventually would quit out of it. After a while, it stopped, and I could edit the export settings. Once I got those set up, I tried to export. No good. It'd export a bit, and it would freeze. Then, a dialogue box saying "Adobe Premiere CC has stopped working" would pop up, and then AME would export a little more, etc. I figured out that killing the process "PProHeadless" causes the same export/freeze phenomenon. But the final exported file had inserts of "media pending" in the video. I figured that it was pretty drastic to be killing processes, so I wasn't too surprised.
At any rate, I'd really like to be able to edit at some point. I'd appreciate your help. Also, I don't have administrator priveledges on the computer... but I can probably get them if it's an absolute must.Flush the media cache and the project cache.

Why does Process 'Translate' keep crashing every 12 seconds?
Hi folks
I have an errant process called 'translate' (note: not 'translated') which appears to be part of Rosetta. It resides in usr/libexec/oah. In my case it crashes every 12 seconds (not eleven, not thirteen). I have a rather large crash log for translate (360mb). So my question is
How do I stop translate from crashing every 12 seconds? Or at all?
Regards
TDIt's the one part of Growl that is not recompiled for Universal yet. I found the answer in a thread on this forum:
http://forums.cocoaforge.com/viewtopic.php?t=8175&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start =45
Download the Universal recompiled version here
http://evands.penguinmilitia.net/GrowlImporter.mdimporter.zip
Unzip the file and overwrite the file with the same name in this location:
~/Library/PreferencePanes/Growl.prefPane/Contents/Resources/GrowlHelperApp.app/C ontents/Library/Spotlight/
(You can get there quickly via Go->Go to Folder in Finder).
Log out and log in again.

Accountsd keeps crashing every 10 seconds
I have noticed that this is crashing every 10 seconds and then respawning. There is a similarpost but the underlying error message in that thread is it cannot create a file. This error messages seems not to be able to load a symbol.
It mentions facebook - but am pretty sure i do not have a facebook app installed I only use the web site.
Can anyone point me in the right direction ?

Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
Note: You need an always-on Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection to the Internet to use Recovery. It won’t work with USB or PPPoE modems, or with proxy servers, or with networks that require a certificate for authentication.
When the OS X Utilities screen appears, follow the prompts to reinstall the OS. You don't need to erase the boot volume, and you won't need your backup unless something goes wrong. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade, so make a note of those before you begin. -

I always keep activity monitor running on my computer. About a week ago, I noticed that ReportCrash was always running and using around 5-10% of CPU. After some research, I went into system.log in Console and discovered that "airlock_daemon" was crashing around every 10 seconds. I am running OSX 10.9.4 on my iMac. Here is a part of the log:

Why does Finder keep crashing every 2 seconds?
every two seconds a "finder quit unexpectadly" window keeps popping up, i can't open finder. on the top menu bar finder is there but i can't click on anything but the apple logo. i've looked everywhere and can't seem to find a solution. i've gone into safe mode and the same problem occurs i've tried recovery mode and repairing the disk and the the same thing. I'm running Mac OS X 10.7.5
Hey there st4rduzt,
It sounds like your Finder application is constantly quitting unexpectedly. I recommend starting by verifying and if need be, repairing your starup disk:
Disk Utility 12.x: Repair a disk
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH5836
Print this help page so you can refer to it later. (You don’t have access to Disk Utility Help when you restart up your computer in the next step.)In the Disk Utility Help window, choose Print from the Action pop-up menu (looks like a gear).
Choose Apple menu > Restart. Hold down the Command (⌘) and R keys as your computer restarts. When you see a white screen with an Apple logo in the middle, you can release the keys.
Click Disk Utility, and then click Continue.
In the list at the left, select the item you want to repair. (Be sure to select an item that’s indented to the right in the list, not an item at the far left.)
Click First Aid.
If Disk Utility tells you the disk is about to fail, back it up and replace it. You can’t repair it.
Click Repair Disk.If Disk Utility reports that the disk appears to be OK or has been repaired, you’re done. Otherwise, you may need to do one of the following steps.
If Disk Utility reports “overlapped extent allocation” errors, two or more files occupy the same space on your disk, and at least one of them is likely to be corrupted. Check each file in the list of affected files. If you can replace a file or recreate it, delete it. If it contains information you need, open it and examine its data to make sure it hasn’t been corrupted. (Most of the files in the list have aliases in a DamagedFiles folder at the top level of your disk.)
If Disk Utility can’t repair your disk or it reports “The underlying task reported failure,” try to repair the disk or partition again. If that doesn’t work, back up as much of your data as possible, reformat the disk, reinstall Mac OS X, and then restore your backed-up data.If you continue to have problems with your disk, it may be physically damaged and need to be replaced.
If the issue persists after you have done the Disk Repair, I would next see if the issue occurs in Safe Mode.
OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode?
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1564
If it does not, I would next look at log in items to see if something is interfering with the OS:
OS X Lion: The Login Items pane of Users & Groups preferences
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4602
If it does, then restart the computer as normal, and test the issue again.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
All the very best,
Sterling -
The menu bar on my mac mini running 10.8.1 is always showing the spinning beach ball. Happens after a couple hours or day. I have to reboot. Annoyingly, I can't use Spotlight as a result. I've tried removing everything, to no aval.
I see there are a lot of processes loading in the background. I'm curious which ones are responsible for the crashing. Thanks again for your help!!

10.7.2, launchd crashes every 10 seconds
All software at latest update.
I'm accessing the server machine via Screen Sharing as it's at a co facility and I'm not. Installed Server and Server Admin both on my office machine and server. Also access server via ssh.
Bug 1. Server app running on server does not show the Screen Sharing window. Workaround: I'll run Server app on my office machine.
Trying to get things working, so wanted to get Mail working first. Then transfer existing mailboxes from old server.
First thing I did was turned off DNS on my machine as I'm hosting DNS on commercial DNS service.
I added some users in the Server app Users pane. Changed the name of the server. Tried to add a second IP address.
First oddity was that System Preferences->Apply froze after trying to add the second IP address.
The I tried to log back in via GUI screen login via Screen Sharing. Click on user. Enter password. Nothing, then back to GUI login screen.
Look in System Log using ServerAdmin from my office. Report Crash com.apple.launchd[1] appears to be crashing once every 10 seconds. Constantly.
Restart server. No change.
I can still log in via ssh, Server and Server Admin.
Advice would be much appreciated.I did not say reinstall the OS. I think your boot HDD is failing. Disk utility (in your applications/utility folder) can verify the smart status of the drive. You can access disk utility from your install discs, an install USB, or a bootable clone.
You need an alternative boot source (not time machine). The problem you face is the exact reason many of us make install USBs, have install DVDs, or bootable clones.
If you have none of these, at least try and boot into recovery (hold command R at the chime). If your HDD is bad this won't help but if it is a file structure error then maybe you can access disk utility this way. -
'revisiond' crashes every 10 seconds
I recently updated from a 2010 MacBook Pro to a 2013 model four days ago. Aside from needing to re-index my mail to make searching possible, the transfer from my Time Machine backup seemed to go flawlessly. However, there's been a complication;
Several basic Apple programs — namely TextEdit and Preview — are hanging repeatedly and obnoxiously, especially when I try to save or close a file, but also on regular intervals while working with a document. It's not a problem with the SSD— boot time is ridiculously fast (under ten seconds) and any programs that don't use Apple's (atrocious) 'Versions' system are working flawlessly. Other software that employs Versions (for instance, textwrangler, which I tried when I discovered TextEdit was so problematic) are displaying the same behavior. I used Inkscape for three straight hours today without issue, OpenOffice ran all day without any notable issues, iTunes ran fine for hours, blender works great, Mail works fine, safari and chrome work just like they always did— Everything that uses the old file handling system is fine, and all programs that use Versions are giving me trouble. If not on load, then ten seconds later.
I consulted my console, and I'm sure you can imagine my horror to discover the following, repeated every ten seconds for almost as long as the computer's been on. It starts happening immediately after booting and does not stop until I shut the computer down.
1/14/14 1:10:40.356 AM ReportCrash[24440]: Saved crash report for revisiond[24757] version 160.2 to /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/revisiond_2014-01-14-011040_MacBook-2.crash
1/14/14 1:10:50.514 AM com.apple.launchd[1]: (com.apple.revisiond[24910]) Job appears to have crashed: Segmentation fault: 11
1/14/14 1:10:50.514 AM com.apple.launchd[1]: (com.apple.revisiond) Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds
From what I can tell, revisiond is the daemon responsible for organizing Versions revisions. I don't need or want Versions, since I'm perfectly capable of handling my own revision-saving when I need to, so I tried disabling it with a 'defaults write' command, only to discover that this creates new problems. (TextEdit couldn't even save a document at all after I ran that command, so I immediately reverted the preference to its original value, which restored the flawed, if partly functional, saving capability).
I didn't spend $3000 on a computer so I could sit and watch documents close for fifteen seconds, or so that something as basic as text-editing could bring an operating system running on an 8-thread i7 to a screeching hault. I've searched the issue extensively online, repaired my permissions several times, switched to a different user... I really shouldn't need to reset the SMC after four days of operation. The only thing left to do is do a clean install and manually recover every file I might need, but we're talking about an accumulation of 7 years worth of files. 540GB. I neither have the time nor the willpower to do that, and it's not even guaranteed to fix anything. (It almost definitely wouldn't, in fact; since my old computer, which is also running Mavericks, does not present the same problem.)
The crash report associated with every console warning reads as follows (with the process number steadily climbing after a reboot, but everything else remaining roughly the same);

As soon as I get back to my time machine drive, I'm taking back the old version of text-edit, but I really want this fixed, since it also affects several other programs, and is soon to affect even more as more developers start adopting the new Apple standard. What can I do to make this problem go away?Should have search little bit better, seems that the plugin "Bark" was the problem:

10.9.2 - Finder crashes every 5 seconds!!!
I have a MacPro with 24GB of RAM, 6 core Intel Xeon CPU, 2012 tower.
After the OSX 10.9.2 upgrade I had issues with the display port output on my graphics card. I resolved that issue temporerilly by using DVI-D and HDMI for both my monitors.
Today, however, I have an even WORSE fault!
FINDER CRASHES LITERALLY EVERY 5 SECONDS.
Pardon my French but I am SERIOUSLY ****** OFF NOW.
Every Finder crash log says exactly the same thing:
EXC_BAD_ACCESS
At first I thought it may be faulty RAM, but I have tried every RAM stick in isolation and it changes nothing. I have also went back down to one monitor and, again, it changed NOTHING. I have no extensions installed; this is 100% RAW Finder.app
What can I do to fix this without having to reinstall OSX?
Thank You.I did not say reinstall the OS.
IBooks Author crashes every 30 seconds: h264 encoder?
I am using iBooks Author 2.1.1 on Mavericks.
The program is crashing like every 30 seconds for no apparent reason (specific actions, that is). I cannot see the <edited by host> problem reporter anymore . This is what it offers all the time stating some problem with the h264 encoder framework (please see attached image below). A reinstallation has not helped so far. What can I do here?
Many thanks in advance,
JanDid you already try removing iBA's preference plist as part of your troubleshooting process?
I don't think that plugin is the culprit ...perhaps more like an incidental victim in this example.
However, as this is a predicable issue, you may want to get Apple Support on the phone and let them take a look.

As for the <edited by host> problem reporter , you can see error/crash logs if you know how to use Console in /Applications/Utilities and have the time to weed out related info - Support might ask you to do that, in which case they will inform the process, etc.
Good luck in any case. -

Can someone explain why I might have this attempting to run on my mac, can I remove it and what does it do?
Thanks,
CliveI am having similar issues! I have also contacted Caldera and I have been waiting on a solution but I thought I would try here too. Not sure if this is software related or if it has to do with compatibility with Mavericks. The constant crashing started after the update for me... is there a patch for it? If any one knows please reach out. I am in the middle of a very heavy production day today!
