Menu bar fonts have a dropped shadow
The fonts on the Menu Bar (File, Edit, View etc) and the bar that has Most Visited, Getting Started etc. have a dropped shadow while the font itself is white. I've looked under "tools/options", but the font listed there isn't the one on the Menu Bar. I'm sure it's something simple that I'm not aware of.
Sounds that you installed a Persona.
You can uninstall your current Persona and revert to the Default theme (Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

Did a successful Archive and Install on my MacBook on Friday. One of the first things I noticed when starting Leopard was the menu bar font. Looks like Apple changed it, but more importantly if you look at the W (Window) and V (View) they are not anti-aliased (smooth) like the other characters.
Has anyone else noticed this? My wife even said the same thing when viewing Leopard for the first time.I also noticed this. It looks very crappy. I changes the font smoothing to strong which improves the situation slightly on the menus. The menubar however seems unaffected by this. It is very disturbing that this is so bad after I have never had a problem with versions 10.1 to 10.4.

iPad running iOS 5 has on the menu bar only have 4 icons, being: back, forward, bookmarks, and the "add to bookmarks", but is missing an icon after the "add to bookmarks" arrow, that is a "show all open browser windows" icon. How do I get it in my safari?
What you are seeing is how Safari works now in iOS 5. There is no way to get that icon in Safari now. There other much better browsers available in the App Store. Look at iCab Mobile, Mercury, Atomic, ....
I have been running iOS 5x for so long now, that I don't even remember if that icon did appear in earlier iOS versions -

Have you tried Command - (that's the key to the right of 0)?
If that isn't it try Control - Command - down arrow key. You can turn the zoom feature on and off in System Preferences - Universal Access - Seeing. -
Menu bar icons have disappeared
Hi everyone,
I have a mbp from 2007, 17''. I updated to Mavericks a good while ago (I would say at least 10 months) and never had any trouble with it.
Since 2 days ago, I noticed that my menu bar did not have any icon anymore. When I move my mouse on where each icon is, I can click and see the menu of each icon as usual. It's just the icon itself that is missing.
I googled around followed what I found but no success:
- I tried relaunching the SystemUIServer.app thing: nothing
- I tried deleting the systemUIserver plist and rebooting: nothing
- I tried writing some code in terminal, rebooting and hodling alt+ctrl+P+R: nothing
I'm starting to run out of ideas to follow. If anyone has any idea please let me know

Thanks a lot for the idea this fixed it! Rebooting in safe mode took a while to do though.... The progress bar got stuck at 1/3 for at least 10-20 minutes. I had almost given up all hope of seeing this bar progress and then it did!

What the???? Menu Bar Item Prefs getting dropped at restart
This is weird and I hope maybe someone else has an idea why this is happening.
When i got my new mac pro last week I zeroed the HD and installed a streamlined copy of 10.4.9 from the install disc... i opted out on trial software, no extra languages, printer drivers etc.
After updating to 10.4.10, setting all my preferences and loading a bunch of software I started having problems with my menu bar items disappearing from the bar... even date and time. I reset preferences and locked all the panes. Still the only items that stayed up after a restart were sound, airport and remote dektop. Assuming some software conflict or bug in 10.4.10 i unistalled several widegts and apps but could never get the menu bar back up.
So, I zeroed again and reinstalled the same streamlined OS 10.4.9 (from the mac pro install discs) and this time did NOT update to 10.4.10. Menu bar was fine until a couple restarts and now it's gone again.... no extra software has been installed.
What gives? Any ideas please? I gotta have the menu bar if for no other reason than menu meters and time/date.

You will then need to reset some or all of the preferences that control what's displayed in the menu bar. Locking preference panes prevents someone using the computer from changing the setting without an admin password; it does not prevent the changes from failing to be written or recognized properly or the computer changing the setting on its own.

Menu bar not always appearing (dropping down) in Safari
Hello everyone,
I was just wandering if someone could help me out with this small problem - or perhaps its a bug others have experienced. Basically, since upgrading to Mavericks I have this annoying problem whereby when I drag my cursor to the top of the page in safari, the menu doesnt always appear (not the safari menu but the system one that drop down with the time etc). As I said, it doesnt always happen and when it does I can normally fix it by briefly changing apps - its just rather annoying!
Any help would be much appreciated.Is it possible you didn't install the correct RAM.

Double horizontal spry drop down menu bar problems

I'm new to the spry tools and I need a little help. This is what I'm trying to accomplish in Dreamweaver CS4:
I need 2 horizontal spry menu bars for navigation. I have created a div for each spry tool, 1 div placed above the other and they cross the entire width of the page. I have created the spry menu bars. Everything seems to be working correctly in both menu bars, That is until you open the IE browser, all other browsers tested fine. The problem is that when you hover over the bottom menu bar in IE, the drop down menu does not drop all the way down. The first submenu of the drop down menu covers the main menu bar. I have tried to change the css for the spry menu bar at the ul.MenuBarHorizontal li.MenuBarItemIE to show the display: as inline and also tried block and niether had any effect. Someone please help. Thanks.

How do you create a drop shadow on FONT?
I see how you create drop shadows on images but it does not seem to work for me when I want to create a drop shadow on my font. Is there a way to do this using MUSE? I don't want to have to use Fireworks to create an image of my font with a drop shadow.

Tiny font on Menu Bar & on window when using Apple Mail on new Macbook Air
I have a new MacBook Air and all is good - except my Mail window has tiny fonts, including on the tool bar, and the Menu Bar is also has smaller fonts when Mail is active. I have made the actual messages readable but the rest of the screen is almost too small to read.
I just got my new MacBook Air and I was also really, really disappointed that the menu bar fonts - and all default text sizes in general - are much too small. I wonder if it has to do with the fact that the optimal resolution for the monitor is now 1440x900 instead of 1280x800 as it was in the older MacBook Air models. I guess I just have to go to the optician and get myself a pair of glasses...
But I think this is clearly a design -related problem that Apple should fix asap! -

My edit toolbar is not available. None of Google help's suggestions work. Customize does NOT have a tab to turn on menu bars - I have reset Mozilla and I am not on full screen. Thanks for any help
The classic Menu Bar is not displayed by default, so after Reset, it will not appear immediately. To turn on the Menu Bar, try one of these:
* right-click a blank area of the tab bar
* right-click the "+" button on the tab bar
* tap the Alt key to display the classic Menu Bar temporarily, then View > Toolbars
* in Customize, try the Show/Hide Toolbars button

Problem with Spry Menu Bar 2.0 (1.0) re - CSS
Hello:
I am having some difficulty with a Spry Menu Bar (horizontal) 2.0 (1.0) that I have created. Initially I thought the problem was with regard to rendering issues on IE 6.0, however the problem seems to be more general than that and I have come to believe that it has to do with the CSS created by the Widget Browser and modified once imported into the webpage. Hence I have elected to post my issue here rather than on the spry page.
I have relied on the tutorial provided by David Powers (Bayside.css) and in addition other documentation regarding the Spry menu bar UI. The problem appeared to be one of IE 6 rendering the page with a gap that is created when the drop down menus appear, thus pushing down any divs that appear below the page.
However, through a painstaking process of trial and error my problem now seems to be that when I export the CSS generated by the widget browser to an external style sheet (the general style sheet governing the whole site), it conflicts with other CSS styles regarding links etc. The end result is that all the padding, background colours, background images, and text colours are lost. So long as the CSS remains within the head this doesn't happen.
My thinking is that this must have to do with issues of specificity, inheritence, etc.
The site can be viewed at the following URL: http://www.aclco.org/testing/index.html. In its current form all CSS related to the menu bar is found in the head of each page. (see CSS below).
My question is can I establish a separate style sheet for the horizontal menu bar and have those styles applied specifically (and only) to the menu bar. My only other alternative is to work through the remainder of the general style sheet and work through any issues of specificity/inheritance -- which may be the "best" practice, but it risks causing other "cascading" [sic] problems elsewhere.
Any advice or suggestions or directed reading (that would point to a solution) that could be offered would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your input. However I am not certain we have resolved this issue adequately, or understand the principles governing the css as regards this spry menu framework 2.0 (1.0).
For example, the menu only works in IE 6.0 if the css remains in the head. I agree with your original post that it shouldn't make any difference whether the css is posted in the head or in a separate style sheet (so long as specificity issues are addressed). Both should work -- and yet it doesn't.
If the CSS is placed in the separate style sheet governing the total site, it doesn't work for 6.0. If placed at the top of the style sheet, conflicts of specificity prevent the menu from rendering properly in any of the browsers causing the rules for general links to govern the menu. This has been verified using a cross browser testing. If the styles are placed at the bottom of the style sheet to help them take precedence, they work in all the browsers except for IE 6.
The website I am building needs to support IE 6 for a variety of reasons, and because it is catering to the non-profit community and to low income persons, I am mindful of even small differences in page weight.
So for me, at least, the issue remains baffling.
I appreciate your input, but also would appreciate the input from others, and especially Adobe Community Professionals and employees. The spry framework in this regard is not well documented. I am not certain if this is exclusively a CSS problem, if it might also be complicated by the architecture of the spry framework, or if indeed other variables are at play.
I would be my hope that in resolving the problem, other users of the this particular spry framework might also benefit.

Placing images causes freeze up.
