  • Menu bar in Safari missing

I have looked at a few posts, but have not seen an answer that works for me.  My menu bar in safari is missing.  I am not in full screen mode.  I have tried putting it in full screen mode and then taking it out of full screen mode, but it doesn't work.  I hover over where the menu bar should be, but it does not appear.  It's as if it thinks it is in full screen mode, but it really is not.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

Click "View"menu  in the Safari menubar and select "Show Toolbar".
    or
Click "View" menu in the Safari menu bar and click "Customize Toolbar".
From the drop down drag the default set into the Toolbar.
the one under " or drag the default set into the Toolbar"
    Click "Done".
    Best.

  • How do I hide the menu bar on Safari when watching videos on full screen mode?

    Hey guys,
I have a mid 2010 macbook pro (Snow Leopard OS X 10.6.8) which I have recently restored from time machine after installing a new hard drive.
However, now when I watch flash videos on putlocker or hulu etc the menu bar on safari on the top left of the screen and the icons on the top right (airport, battery, date/time etc) does not disappear as it used to.
When I am on youtube I have a similar problem but this time the video only occupies the window so tabs (and everything above) in safari and my dock still appear. I know this may be a youtube related query, but if anyone knows how to change this I would appreciate any guidance.
This is my first post so sorry if this in the wrong forum (feel free to move it) or if my description is unclear, I can provide further information if needed.
    Many thanks!
    Tom

You're welcome and only on my first cup of coffee

  • Can't find how make the menu bar on Safari 6 larger so I can actually see it on my new 27" display.  Help!

I have new 27" Thunderboldt display with my new 15" retina MacBook Pro.  On my last 27" display, I could see the menu bar within Safari and the apple menu bar on the main screen.  Now the text is too small and I can't seem to find where to make it larger in my Safri preferences and in my Apple settings.  Can someone help, especially with the Safari menu....my eyes are sore.

Check your settings in System Preferences > Displays > Display > Scaled
    Try a different resolution.
If nothing there helps, try Sysem Preferences > Accessibillity

  • How to display menu bar in safari

New to IOS.  Just bought an iPad.
Trying to import bookmarks, but need to have a menu in Safari to do it (according to some instructions I'm using)
Don't see a switch in Settings.

Safari on the iPad does not have a Menu bar. What you see is what it has.
Depending on where you are coming from though you may still have a couple different options.
If you are coming from a Mac, you could ostensibly copy your bookmarks to the Safari browser on the Mac and have the bookmarks then sync through iCloud.
If you are on a Windows computer your best bet is to import your bookmarks to Internet Explorer and use the iCloud Control Panel to sync them over to the iPad.

You could also download one of the 3rd party Firefox sync Apps onto the iPad. They will sync with your Firefox browser and bring the bookmarks onto the iPad. You can then use them to open your Bookmarks on any browser on your iPad including Safari. The downside is the Bookmarks won't be inside Safari, but instead will reside in the sync App and you can open Safari from there.
    For example:

  • What does the "Develop" do in the menu bar in Safari

Just upgraded to Mountain Lion - trying to get to grips with the Develop tag in the Menu bar? only found it under preferences in Safari when trying to remove cashe - can anyone give me an idea where I can get more information on the use of the "Develop" ? cheers

In fairness Bee, your link includes this:
The Develop menu allows you to show the Web Inspector, Error Console, Network Timeline and Snippet Editor or disable Caches, Images, Styles, JavaScript, Runaway JavaScript Timer and Site-specific Hacks.
Now, how many of us know what any of that actually does? I certainly don't have a clue what the Snippet Editor or Runaway Javascript timer actually does. And 'Site specific hacks' is also something of a mystery.
My conclusion is therefore that the Develop Menu options are for developers, not everyday users.
And the article you link to was written for Leopard. Malcolm is running Mountain Lion.
If malcolm needs further information on these options, we are going to have to do some serious research!

  • Unable to click elements in menu bar when toggling (with alt) from hidden state

I've put few elements in normally hidden menu bar, like "RSS icon" or "Downloaded files icon". After showing menu bar they look properly (e.g. icons highlight on mouse over), but won't execute action - menu bar will hide upon click on them.
I've also put search bar there, selecting items from it works properly, after opening select search engine all other elements start to work, yet, after executing an action menu bar won't hide again until some menu is opened and closed. At the moment I'm using FF 5.0, but problem exists in 6.0 as well

  • Alignment Issues with Spry Menu Bar in Safari

    www.laurentambard.com
I am new to CS5 and currently building a site for a friend.  Having issues with aligning then far right spry menu bar so that it is flush with the page.  It only shows a problem on Safari (as far as I know).  Also the second tab (About) is dropping down slightly when the drop down menu is selected and not sure how to fix it.

If you place the menubar in a container with an ID of nav or similar and a background color of #EEE so that it blends in with the background colour of the menu items, the centralise the menubar and menu items as per http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/samples/menubar/CenteringHorizontalMenuBarSample.h tml, it should go a long way to meeting your requirements.

  • Widows Opening Behind Menu Bar in Safari 3.0.4--WHY!!!

I've been doing some Day-Trading lately and when I open up extra windows to monitor stock activities, there is one that opens behind the menu bar and I can't grab the top of it to move it around. It's irritating as ****!! Does anyone know why this is happening or how to fix this?

I thought of that but, the Ameritrade site uses it's own web apps with their own appearance. Ugly Window's look actually. The only way to move them is with the top of their window. It does not do this on my sister's MBP with 10.4.10. However my iMac did it exactly the same with Tiger. So I don't think it's a Leopard problem. Guess I'll ask a Genius...cough...cough...

Safari problem:  when I switch back into safari from another application, the menu bar comes up but no tabs or windows.  What's going on?  Just started yesterday.  I have found a workaround: when I Command Tab back to safari, I hit command T to open a new tab and Command W to close it, and my other tabs are visible.
I have tried shutting down, closing tabs, with no success.  What's going on and how can I fix it?
    Thanks,

PS:  I'm not sure of the actual OS level, but I have not allowed it to upgrade to Maverick yet; concerned about it because of a few things I've read...

A Safari extension or third party plugin may be causing the menu bar issue.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect:  Allow plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.
As for which OS X is installed.
Click the Apple () menu top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac.
    The version is noted there.
v10.6 Snow Leopard v10.7 Lion  v10.8 Mountain Lion
It's your choice whether or not to upgrade to Mavericks. If you decide to do this, make sure your Mac meets the requirements noted here.

  • Safari will not open but shows in the menu bar -

We already checked with our Internet provider  and that is all good. Our wireless is working.  Safari will not reset and freezes up, in the menu all commands are greyed out except "Hide Safari"  or I must force quit. We have ethernet on this computer.

    Ok, skip the cache,db suggestion.
In the effected account, try troubleshooting extensions and third party plug-ins.
