Menu Bar - Show Text

I have an addon which comes with a toolbar - the buttons on the toolbar appear as icon and text.
When I move these buttons from the addon toolbar to the default Menu Bar - the text disappears.
If I use customize and select show icons and text, then all the toolbars are altered.
I just want to change the Menu Bar so it shows icons and text - is this possible?

Menu bar shows no detail

I have a new Forms Builder installation version 9.0.2.12.2 .
When I run the Form with OC4J everything works except the menu bar shows only the first level. If I select one of those menu tabs nothing happen. So it doesn't show the submenu.
Somebody knows this problem an where I can fix it?

The spry file links are incorrect. Did you define a site folder at the outset of your project? It's important to do this to allow Dreamweaver to put all your files in the correct place.
Instead of this:

Your link should look more like:
<script src="SpryAssets/SpryMenuBar.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
What Dreamweaver does (if you have defined a site folder correctly) is create a 'SpryAssets' folder inside your site folder where it stores all the files associated with the Spry menu.

Ichat drop down menu from menu bar shows up in the wrong place.

I'm not sure how this happened, but for some reason, ever since I've moved to college, my Ichat drop down menu from the menu bar shows up on the left side of my screen, and you can only see half of the menu. I don't know how to fix this problem so if anyone could help me out that would be great.

Yep.
Go to the Buddy List Status Message and option the Edit option.
Delete that Status Message that you have that is over 42 characters.
Ones of about 60 or more will introduce the "Left Shift" (And the fact the drop Down may line up with the right hand edge of the Menu Bar icon on in-between lengths)
In Snow Leopard it is possible to have a Long Message that displaces the Drop Down Off Screen.
The other factor is the order of the Menu Bar Icons on that side of the Screen
The iChat one can be Dragged if you use the Apple (CMD) key.
If the Drop Down can not fit the message in before the right hand edge of the Screen it will displace.
Having a Second mac User Account and deciding to Display which mac User is Logged in can give you some extra "space"

Can i have the orange firefox symbol AND the firefox menu bar showing at the same time?? and how??

hi, i just downloaded firefox 16 and would like to know, can i have the orange firefox symbol thats at the top left corner of the page, AND the firefox menu bar showing at the same time??? i'm new to this, and old, and hope i can do this..thanks for your help...joan albert

Here are two "Menu" add-ons which alter the Menu bar into one button.
With this one you can move the new "Menu" button into the Customize Palette, and then when you hit the '''Alt''' key the "Menu will open down from the Titlebar on the left. Won't affect the action of the Firefox button when you de-select the Menu Bar.<br />

Spry menu bar showing up as bullet points insted of the menu bar when previewed

this is my first post so i am sorry if i miss out any information
i am creating a pretty simple website for my family company and i've tried to incorporate a menu bar so users can navigate between pages it once worked when previwed in firefox and chrome but not internet explorer. i then went on to recreate the menu bar only to find now it only shows in the bullet points and not how it should. can some one help becuse its really getting me annoyed. the website is not live at the moment however i could upload it if this would help.

No time for the IE problem now, but on the "bulletpoints" page, these supporting files are either incorrectly linked in your page, or not uploaded to expected folder.

Horizontal menu bar shows serif type font in Live View and Preview but sans serif is in css file

Help I am using the Spry horizontal menu bar and while it is working fine, it is showing a serif font in Live View and in all Browsers even though I have selected a sans serif font. What gives? I have attached the SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css

Add this to your embedded styles:
body {
background-color: #999;
font-family: "Trebuchet MS", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
using, of course, the font list you want.
All those styles that rely on the 'default' font will now default to the Trebuchet font list (or to your chosen list).

I would like to list the contents of the menu bar dynamically by reading it from a text file. Is there a way to do this?

I suppose you can do it by using InstallMenuDimmerCallback () function: this command installs a function that is called by the system before the menu is shown so that you can dim / undim the appropriate menu items depending on the execution state. See this tip of mine and the following commend from LuisG
This is the original purpose: you could customize the menu bar instead by using SetMenuBarAttribute () to change the item name(s) and event the associated callback function. I have never used this function that way, though, so I cannot tell you how efficent the mechanism can be and how much delay will it introduce before the menu is shown.

Menu bar shows twice on dual monitor, dock moves around

Mac Pro (early 2008) w/ Yosemite and dual monitor display
The menu bar at the top of the screen appears on BOTH monitors ALL the time. However, the one on the secondary monitor is dimmed out, and can be two or three app switches behind. For example, awhile ago I worked in Illustrator, and the Illustrator menu bar is visible in the second monitor (but dimmed). On the main monitor I have been in several apps since, but currently it is showing Firefox. If I mouse click on that dimmed out menu it will go right to Illustrator - and the Illustrator menu will appear on BOTH monitors. It will remain this way until switching to another app which has palettes on the second monitor, so just now I went to InDesign, and now that menu bar is visible. Also visible are the usual items in the right part of the menu, such as the time.
The Dock can also switch monitors, but that has only happened once.
Finally, but I think related. When in Adobe apps, with all the palettes located in the second monitor, when I click on something which should pop up more choices (anything in the character palette) - sometimes the pop-up will appear all the way across both screens, and on the main monitor. That is a ridiculous pain.
Other than that the system seems stable, and the apps do work. I did go back down to one desktop in spaces, but that seems to make no difference. Ideas ???

In my preferences - NONE of the check boxes are checked. I did check the mirror displays one earlier today, but that is not the answer.
Right now on my main monitor I have Firefox in the top menu, and the dock in the bottom, on the secondary monitor, it shows Photoshop main menu dimmed out. If I click on a Photoshop command in that menu, it immediately goes to the program.
iTunes is open, I just moved the main window over to that second monitor, now I can see both this Firefox screen and the Firefox menu, but now on the secondary monitor I see the iTunes window -- and the iTunes main menu is visible but dimmed in the second monitor.
I honestly don't think this is intended. It is certainly not helpful. The second monitor seems to remember whatever was open there last. Weird. I have used 2 monitors for YEARS, not seen that one before.

Menu bar shows icon instead of application name

For an unknown reason, my menu bar now shows an icon for the application in the open window instead of the name of the application. For instance, when I switch to the Finder, the smiley face is in the menu bar next to the Apple menu. How can I return to have the application name shown?

This error message pops up when you don't have programmed any error handling!
Well, you use "Write to spreadsheet file" for saving your data. Look inside this function (and it's subvi "Write Spreadsheet string") to see how to use low level file functions. After the "Open/Create/Replace File" you have to check for any error (like error 8)...

Sim icon in menu bar showing "No SIM" in menu on MPB. How to remove?

In my menu bar I've got a strange icon showing simcard with exclamation mark. When I click it, it shows tiny menu with "No SIM".
I don't know where it came from and how to get rid of it.
I've removed old mobile phones with modems from list of my bluetooth devices, and removed all mobiles in Networking preferences.
I don't have any peripherals connected that could use SIM. I never had any mobile broadband modems and don't recall installing such software.
Where this icon comes from and how can I get rid of it?

I can't tell you where it comes from, but in general you can remove icons from the right part of the menu bar by holding a "command" key down while you drag the icon down out of the menu bar.

Why my menu bar shows Superdrive eject button?

For some reason iMac shows Superdrive eject button on menu bar and when I click on it then Superdrive isn't active. I have no CDs/DVDs in the computer.
Tried on Disk Utility, clicked on SuperDrive but eject button wasn' t active.
Why is it there and what does it do there?

If the machine detects that it does not have an apple keyboard (and not the magic key to the right of the f12 that isn't f13, and for users who didn't know that f12 can act as a keyboard eject in the absence of magic f12.5) it will launch that menu item. Once its launched, you have to remove it as described by others here. It will also show up if you have TWO optical drives attached, so you can control which one to eject.

<menu text> Ctrl-PERIOD
note the word period is spelt out in text but I want it to show:
<menu text> Ctrl-.
i.e. using the period symbol
Can anyone help me with this?
I know this may be a LAF thing but if so, is it possible to tweak my current LAF , maybe via UIManager to do this?

I think I have some progress:
I see that KeyEvent get the string like this:
Toolkit.getProperty("AWT.period", "Period");
and Toolkit gets the value for the AWT.period key from the file:
sun.awt.resources.awt.properties
However, I dont know how to find this file in order to edit it.
Maybe I can set this property programatically at the start of the app but I dont know how to do this; Toolkit does not have a setProperty() method.
Any ideas?

Spry Menu Bar Show Highlighting currently selected

Is there a way to get a vertical Spry menu to leave the
lights on while we're on a given page? I'd like to affect the menu
behavior to cue it to leave the highlighting turned on for the
currently selected page. I'm hoping there's a short script I could
add to individual pages to tell the menu where we are. If my menu
has 6 vertical list items, and the page I an displaying was loaded
by clicking on the third item in the list, then I'd like item three
in the menu to remail highlighted. This would cue the user to know
where they are in the menu for any given page. Looking at the
script near "show menu highlighting and MenuBarItemHover"

i think the reason the spry menu isn't working is because it
needs to expand past the frame, which isn't possible. if you want
you can use
this
it's compact and it doesn't need to exapand past the frame.
