Menu Bar Symbol

There's a symbol on the menu bar of my iMac. It poped up unexpectedly and it says "sync now". What is it?

I have the same issue. The drop down menu just says "sync now" and I can't tell where it came from...

Question: Internet Connect and its symbol in the menu bar

Hello,
I have set up "Internet Connect" to show its status in the Menu bar. When I am connected, I see the black/gray symbolic radio waves. I have noticed, that this icon is in company with a time counter, when my MAC gets the ip address via DHCP rather than having a static ip assigned.
On a "DHCP MAC", sometimes this time counter disappears for a moment and gets back after a couple of seconds. During this drop out, the icon with the radio waves remains unchanged which is usually "all black" as I have very good signal strength.
Does anybody know about the reason/cause for that drop out of displying the time counter? I really would like to know the technical background, as I found out that during those "time counter drop outs", my AirTunes music stream tends to be broken as well. Even though it seems that the signal is still OK (all radio waves in the symbol are black).

Also, on interference, through much testing, I find that even one signal can interfere with it's self by bouncing off different surfaces.

U.S. English flag symbol fails to load in the menu bar

Upon awaking or starting the iMac, the U.S. English language symbol fails to load on the right side of the menu bar as it should. This means that I cannot select other keyboard languages under that symbol's drop down menu. In fact the spinning color wheel appears on far right side of the menu bar where the day and date are also located. If I move the pointer to the left past this area, the spinning color wheel changes to its normal pointer arrow. I see this oddity several times a week. Does anyone have an idea why this occurs?

Check your flag symbol settings. According to the os Help I found the following:

Changing Currency Symbol from the Menu bar to other than €

I use the Costa Rican colon symbol ¢ (in front of number) as a routine value, as well as the U.S. dollar symbol and it seems cumbersome to select the "Inspector" to make these alternate currency symbols (or any alternate to € symbol). Speaking of the Costa Rican colon, it is represented incorrectly anyway and I don't know how to change the symbol.
Also, in the pop-up menu of the "Inspector -- currency" all currency symbols show as € and only when a cell is clicked after selecting a currency symbol, does it appear in the cell (not correct, but at least something other than €.
This is my first hour of "playing with" Numbers. I hope it's not a sign of things to come.

There are many variations to the symbols used for currency worldwide, please, if yours is wrong let Apple know. The feedback option is under Numbers on the menu bar. This is a user to user forum provided by Apple, not run by them.
My symbol on the menu bar is $, which is correct and rather common worldwide, maybe a generic currency symbol is used for smaller areas of the world. I know I have the Australian flag rather than a New Zealand one on my menu bar for the international settings. We are obviously too small to have our own
You can show all currency options in the inspector by changing the Numbers preferences. A quick way of selecting the correct currency in the inspector is to open the list and type the first few letters.
I'd expect your default would be the same as you have set in the System Preferences > International.
You could also make a couple of templates for yourself in both currencies and use them instead.
Numbers is a neat piece of software, keep playing with it and you may well get to like it.

Here are two "Menu" add-ons which alter the Menu bar into one button.
With this one you can move the new "Menu" button into the Customize Palette, and then when you hit the '''Alt''' key the "Menu will open down from the Titlebar on the left. Won't affect the action of the Firefox button when you de-select the Menu Bar.<br />

What is the unknown symbol which covers "file" in the menu bar?

What is the unidentifiable symbol (icon?) in the upper left hand corner that covers "File" in the Menu Bar?

Ocassionally, when running Firefox 7.0.1 on Mac OS X 10.6.8, I am unable to click the items of the left-most side of the Menu Bar (everything between and including the Apple symbol and "Help").

The keyboard shortcuts for all of the options still work, but will not let me select anything with the mouse. The Apple key seems also not to allow selection of anything on the Menu Bar.
I can browse normally when this happens; it's not freezing or crashing. And I am able to click everything on the right side of the Menu Bar; the clock, wireless icon, battery, etc. Also, other programs running at the same time don't have this problem. A restart of Firefox seems to temporarily fix the problem, but it's happened a few times, with no clear pattern as to what is causing it.
Anyone else having this problem? Solutions?

I fixed this, in a fairly brutal way. Here is the solution.
Save your bookmarks, like on the desktop. Or you could launch Safari and import your Firefox bookmarks into Safari, then later pull them back into Firefox.
COMPLETELY delete everything that has to do with Firefox. That includes not only the application, any dmg file hanging around and most importantly the ENTIRE contents of User/Library/ApplicationSupport/Firefox. Indeed just throw the whole Firefox folder in the Trash. Empty the Trash just in case. Now use Safari to download a new Firefox.dmg file and start from scratch. You will have to re-establish your Preferences. But Firefox will not hang, and most importantly, it will not hang your OS. --Gene

Creative cloud symbol grey in menu bar

I have bought a new iMac and to get it running as fast as possibe I copyed over my old one. Now the creative cloud in the menu bar is grey and I can't log in. I have tried to uninstall it and reinstall it without success.

How can you get rid of icons in menu bar?

I recently took my MacBook to the local store to have it cleared and restored back to factory settings. I have the OS X Mountain Lion program installed. I set up two accounts (Admin account and second one to use). When I turned my computer off and back on again, I've noticed a Guest account. When I went into my System Preferences to get rid of it, I've noticed that it's greyed out (so I can't delete it). Another issue I'm having is a symbol I'm seeing up top in my menu bar (<--->. Does anyone know what this means and how I can go about getting rid of it?

In the area where it allows you to add or delete the delete symbol is greyed (shaded) out where I don't have that option to delete the "guest" account. And the ethernet symbol I'm seeing in the right hand corner of my screen is still there after deleting it in the System Preference/Network section.

Need help with Spry Menu Bar

Hello, I have two templates that I am using. Both have a horizontal menu bar across the top of the page and then two Vertical Spry Menu Bars down the left hand side of the page - one above the other. On one template, all menu bars are working correctly. On the other template, 2 out of three are working correctly. Not sure what's happening here. The spry menu bar that is not working correctly is under "Books & Materials" heading. The menu bar is supposed to turn green when you mouse over it, but instead everything turns white and looks like it "disappears". I have no idea why it would work on one template and not the other. Or for that matter, why it is working on one vertical spry menu bar, but not the other on the same page. PSE 7 Menu bar in Organizer will not display properly

I''m going through an instructional video on PSE 7. The video shows the menu bar in the organizer just to the right of the little house. My Organizer shows two > symbols in the middle of the area, with a drop down list of menu items. I'm not sure what's going on, but it seems that the menu bar might be locked or something like that. I have searched help for "menu bar" but found nothing on how to get the bar back. Can someone point me in the right direction to get the menu bar back?
As an asside............. Is there no help in the program itself? When I press F1 or click on help in the menu, I get directed to the Adobe web site. Does this mean that if you're not connected to the internet (using a laptop without wifi access etc) that you have no access to help files?

Thanks very much for your quick answer. I decided to just use the system font. If issues appear during editing, at least I'll know how to turn it off. I didn't want to lower the dpi. I had it set higher for a reason............ poor eyesight...

Creative Cloud installs and appears in my menu bar, but will not truly "open".

I'm on OSX 10.9.3 . Creative Cloud downloads, installs, and appears in my menu bar, but will not truly "open". I only see the spinning symbol (the Adobe one, not the Apple beach ball). I never even get a chance to log in and download anything. I've tried on three different Macs with the same result. All three meet the system requirements for CC. Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Sorry, it didn't work for me. I closed the application (it hung the first time I tried and I had to restart the Mac to get rid of the window), and deleted the recommended file. When I tried to re-open the app, I got this:
I never got the opportunity to log in, either before or after the attempted fix.

Horizontal Menu Bar works when index.html is appended to url, but not otherwise

My spry horizontal menu bar works like I want when I put /index.html at the end of the url for my website, but when I just go to the website without typing that in the index page shows up fine, but some of the links in the menu don't work. How is that possible if the index page is what shows up when you put in the usual www.domain.com?

I did not get two different pages when I went for your ...tennis.com address vs. your ...tennis.com/index.html address. Were you looking at the pages locally (preview in a browser) or looking at them on your website?
If your local site contains the files you want to have on the server, synchronize your files [entire local site] (on the files panel, the 'recycle' symbol) to see which files are different, remote from local. Then upload (being sure to include associated files).
The basic reason for a Spry menu bar not working is if the javascript and the menubar css file are not accessible or not linked to the page. The other reason would be if Javascript is turned off (but you said it worked with one file...) or if the javascript code at the bottom of the page is somehow either not there or broken:

Thank you for your response! I have not tried that and now considering a faster way around which is more in line with the responder below using a text box or removing the item from my menu bar and using the "B" symbol for Blog elswhere on the page. All I am trying to do is in my menu bar link my blog but like you mentioned I would have to make a manual bar and not sure how to do that since I am new to Muse. Thanks for the help!

Finder menu bar does not show up always

From time to time (maybe once a month) when I boot up my MBP, Finder Menu bar at the top of the screen does not automaticaly show up. Only basic screen color.In order to bring that bar (with apple icon in the left top corner and little magnifying glass,airport symbol etc in the right top corner) I have to click once at the top of the screen where that bar is suposed to be.Than it shows up and everything runs smoothly afterwords. At the same time my Dock works fine from the beginning. It does not bother me too much because everything else works perfectly fine and it happens not so often. I only wonder if anybody had a similar problem or if that is a problem at all. Thanks!

My own and my girlfriens's new 13" MBPs (10.6.2) have done this a couple of times. I really haven't bother to look into the case because I assumed that it's just a bug as it was happening on both machines. As a matter of fact, I haven't seen it happening for a while.
