Menu crashing
Hi there.
Today I purchased a 3g iPhone and something really strange is happening. When I go to the settings menu and choose the "mail, contacts and calendars" setting if I scroll down to the calendars section the settings "app" will crash. That certainly didn't happen on my older iPhone.
Rebooting made no difference. Anyone has this problem?
UPDATE: Not only the ssettings menu crashes but I've just found out that the clock application crashes as well.
Restoring the iphone had no result....
Now I think that there's a hardware problem???

Windows Explorer folder context menu crash
Hello, On a PC running Windows 7x64 Ultimate, Windows Explorer closes with a
"Windows Explorer has stopped working" message, and needs to be restarted.
It quits when I right click on a folder, while right clicking on a file doesn't cause it
to quit. So far I've tried:
Uninstalling and reinstalling graphics drivers, SVC scan, malware scans, virus scan,
hijack this, safe mode, clean boot, shexview, shmnview, reliability monitor, and event
viewer. I could use some help with what shell extensions to modify, if that is
even the problem. Thanks
Event Viewer Windows applications log has entries for event ID 1000 error,
with these details:

Windows 7 start menu crashes InDesign CS5
If I check the Windows 7 option to "Store and display recently opened items in the Start menu and on the taskbar" InDesign crashes the next time it opens. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
Thanks Bob. I am trying to figure out why this crashes my system. One thing I discovered is InDesign doesn't like to open on my second monitor. I have moved it to my primary monitor and that has fixed some of the issues but not all of them. I have even had problems with InDesign crashing when I try to open a file from Bridge.

CS4 Encore motion menu crash while transcoding (render motion menu)
Hi,
I have a rather large but simple Blu-Ray project. I have a main menu (with a CS4 Premiere dynamically linked background video and WAV sound but no animation on buttons) that is linked to a series of video index menus with motion (the chapter are linked to six buttons that include video preview). All my videos are dynamically linked to a Adobe CS4 premiere sequence in five different projects. All the Adobe CS4 Premiere projects where manually transcoded with success. I have a total of 43 menus (including the main menu and one popup). Here is my problem...
In my Blu-ray project, every time render my motion menus, CS4 Encore crashes (no error message) and generates a crash report. The weird thing is that it never crashes at the same place. I can render from 1 to 6 menus before the crash. I have noting running except encore and I have no screen saver and my power settings is set to never.
I work on a Intell Quadcore 2.5 Mghz, 4 GB of RAM, Spphire HD4850 Graphic adapter (updated less than a week ago), Vista 32 (updated). All my CS4 apps. where updated less than a week ago.
Any ideas???
Any help would be appreciated because I am getting very upset with CS4 Encore....
SirEnigma

</crashreport>Finally I have found a workaround. I set all the motion menu's to no animation and build the projetc. Afterward, I put the animation on one menu and I render it. It is very long but it works. now my problem is elsewhere. On my output BD, some menu's only have a few second of animation before they loop. in some cases i dont even have a second. I have rebuilt my project and I have the same effetc but Encore seams to have put loop points at random.

Services Menu crashing every application
Whenever I try to go to the Services Menu from whatever application I am in, that app immediatel crashes, including Finder. What could be causing that? I didn't do this a few days ago.
Could this be a font issue? Or Spelling? Those are about the only things I have altered since I last tried to use the menu.
Please help!1. Could be a font issue. What font changes did you make?
2. Likewise, what changes in Spelling did you make?
Good luck!

Windows 8.1 start menu crash when searching
Hi there,
I'm running Windows 8.1 and I've been having a problem with the metro-style start menu ever since I upgraded from Windows 8. Whenever I open it and type a character on the keyboard (so as to use the search feature), Explorer immediately crashes and
restarts. The problem hasn't been occurring long, but at the moment the only way I can search is by typing in the 'Apps' dialogue that is accessed by clicking the small arrow in the lower left of the 'Start' dialogue.
I also have Autodesk Inventor 2014 installed (since that appears to be a common factor with errors of this nature), but I don't think that it's causing the problem.
Finally, here's a link to a dump file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/or4udcpo66mazce/explorer.exe.7860.dmp and a copy of the 1000 error from the Event Viewer.
Thanks!

When I select Help/XCode Help, my Xcode hangs for awhile then crashes. I threw out the preferences file and it worked ok for awhile. Now it's crashing again after working for only about a week. I don't want to keep setting my prefs every couple of weeks. Any ideas/suggestions?

G4 iBook, 640Mb Mac OS X (10.4.5)Most times FCE4 itself doesn't crash. The only reason I noticed it was I happened to be looking in my console logs for something else and noticed it.
Basically, with FCE4 open....simply go to the Help menu and start typing something...say..."Open". This should activate help.
Now in my situation, help works just fine, however, in looking in my console logs, I noticed that by invoking the help menu in FCE4, it crashes the helpdatad process. That's the crash that's happening in the log.
So if you simply go to the help menu and start typing something, then look in you console logs....do you see helpdatad crash as well?

FCE4 Help menu crashes helpdatad
Anyone else seeing an issue where, if you use the help menu in FCE4 under Leopard I get crash reports in console.app where helpdatad crashes? I get messages like this:

Seems to only be happening in FCE4, not other apps in Leopard.
Happens everytime. Most times, I don't actually see any problems in FCE4....however sometimes it will crash the whole app.
Can anyone check this out on their machine?

Spotlight + help menu -- crashes any programs
Has anyone else had a program crash when opening/typing into the Leopard help menu? I figured out the other day that if you accidentally open Spotlight when you have the help menu open, whatever program you're currently using will crash. It's very annoying bug. Anyone had this happen before?
~cmThanks, Ian, for your helpful link! I treid all teh suggested solutions on that page, and finally wound up using the excellent Pacifist, found at http://www.charlessoft.com/
With the help of Pacifist, I was able to get HelpViewer reinstalled and all my mac help menus are available again.
Again, thanks for your help. I'm very grateful.

Hi,
In one application I have a runtime menu which is dynamically changed. When a option is not available, the menu point is dimmed. Now I found out, that LabVIEW crashes every time when the runtime menu is opened while the change occurs in the program.
Is there a way to avoid this? Otherwise the whole option to change the runtime menu dynamically would be worthless..
Best regards
DermotHi
just now by looking at it a second time, I found the solution.
In a early version of the program I added and deleted the runtime menu tags dynamically. When the runtime menu was opened during a delete action, LabVIEW 7.1 crashed completly.
Now I just dim the tags that are not available, that means I only change the properties of the tags and the program works just fine.
Thanks and best regards
Dermot

Font menu crashes Pages in Leopard
Clicking the Font menu in either the toolbar or menu causes Pages to crash in OS 10.5 Leopard. Anyone have suggestions?
Thank you Dennis for responding so quickly,
I was able to find the file com.apple.iWork.Pages.plist with your advise. I moved it to the trash, emptied the trash, and restarted Pages. Unfortunately, Pages still crashes when opening the font menu. I tried the above several times. I even tried restarting the computer, after removing the file, without success. Any other ideas?
Again, thank you for your attention. -
Opening Movie Menu crashes PE11, why?
Another problem! A probably buggy one. I'm trying to use Tools > Movie Menu to add Main Menu and Scenes menu but each time I open it, PE11 crashes. It may be because what I'm trying to do isn't straightforward. Namely, I had put together from separately edited clips an entire 1½ hr movie, but because I made a mistake in the Main Menu I created, I'm trying to change it.
I imported the full video which I'd made with your help for the Blu-ray, and as soon as it got to the Timeline, all the existing Menus (main ones, I didn't create Scene menus) automatically appeared. First I tried clearing all existing menus using the Markers tab (top left of the timeline) but when I tried Movie Menu, PE11 crashed. So this time I left all the menus in place until I got to choosing a Menu Theme.
It's at this point that the crash occurs. The first time was during the process of downloading a theme I hadn't used before, but the second time I tried using an existing theme on my pc (Windows 7, 64-bit) and it still crashed.
I wonder if this is 1) because there are existing menus in the movie; 2) the "clip" (ie the whole movie) is simply too large? 3) Instead of importing the file as the completed m2t file, should I have worked on an original .prel file, ie the final one from my original editing before I converted it for Blu-ray?
If none of the above 3 points is correct, is there any way, eg via a log, of pinpointing the cause?
In the meantime I'll try the procedure using the original .prel file.
Thanks for help, suggestions, links to answers already in existence &c
all best
BrianATR
I realised that I didn't actually want to, or have to, change the entire Menu Theme, all I needed to do (which I've now done) is correct the faulty spacing, font size etc of my original.
But I'm worried that without viewing the whole movie again, I can't be sure (because of that "Where is" missing file) that it's actually all there. I'll just have to watch the whole thing again (getting rather fed up with it, to be honest by now, want to move on!)
I thought at one point it would be easier to go back to the original .prel files of each separate day and simply reassemble them into a new version of a (corrected) movie, but I'm stumped here again, because I'm being asked the same question, "Where is ..."
The point is that I've done more videos since then and although I *thought* I'd kept all the original .prel files AND links, I obviously can't have done. But of course, as already said, I did clear my scratch disk.
I think I may just have to accept that I have a flawed movie, put it all down to experience and a learning curve, and get on with the next one, having learned several mistakes not to make again!
The flawed Menu works -- it's just that half the text in the case of two headings is way off the TV page! I should have used the safety margins. One thing I've learned.
all best
Brian
PS I've searched my computer for those missing files. They aint there no mo'! -
My Canon MP630 prints OK, but will only scan from the printer window.
Solution Menu (1.2.0) keeps crashing.
I am running Mac OS Mavericks (10.9.2) on an iMac.
Printer Driver (10.84.2.0) is installed.
MP Navigator EX (3.0.6) has been downloaded and installed.
How can I get Solutions Menu to run properly?Jack Benlow1 wrote:
I can scan OK using Image Capture, but Solutiions Menu offered more options.
Solutions Menu is just a quick access panel to other Canon applications. It has no other function. The latest version of Solutions Menu is 1.4.1.
So scanning is performed by MP Navigator EX and the latest version is 2.0.7 - not 2.0.1. Here is a link to this latest version. Note that the new version should overwrite the old. No need to trash the older version.
And in order to use MP Navigator you need to have the MP630 scanner driver installed. Here is a link to the latest version 14.11.4a. Note that Image Capture uses a different scanner driver (ICA). -
Hi,
several times now I have reproduced a crash of CVI 2009 SP1 when trying to edit a menu. (There is also a way to do it without a crash, luckily.)
The way to reproduce the crash:
- open the UIR in the CVI UIR editor
- move the mouse over the (dimmed) menu item (in my case: Statistics / Robust Statistics)
- right click 'Edit'
- in the menu editor go to the menu and deselect 'Dimmed'
- Press OK
CVI will immediately shutdown / disappear (without saving the changes in the UIR file)
I have uploaded the UIR file to NI incoming ftp site...
Solved!
Go to Solution.I can confirm that this also happens on 2009-no-SP version [ 9.1.0(428) ]
Proud to use LW/CVI from 3.1 on.

Ctrl Click for dropdown menu crashes finder...
Every time I control click lately, to get the dropdown menu that has items in it like, new window etc... the finder crashes. Any advice?
First thing to try is to open Disk Utility (in Applications>Utilities) and click on the hard drive on the left, then 'Repair Permissions'. This process can take a few minutes, and may report a few items resolved. It has been known for faulty permissions to cause idiosyncratic system behavior.
If that doesn't work, download a copy of Preferential Treatment from www.versiontracker.com. and run it on both system-wide and user levels. This will flag if you have any problems with property list (.plist) files which can also cause this sort of issue.
If that doesn't help, create a new user account and long on to that. Does the problem then disappear?
