Menu drop downs don't drop down

When I click on the menu bar items, the drop downs don't always happen.
If I open a preference-- like date-time and make a change, then the drop downs start working again.
This happens some times after booting up and sometimes its OK. Once it does not work after boot, I have to make a change to a preference (just any change) to get it to work.
I am just concerned that this means something else-- that I don't see is not working correctly.
I do have Symantec antivirus running and its menu item is te only one that seems to always work (its the exception).
So how do I fix it.

First thing to try is to get rid of anything from Symantec.

All the menu drop-downs just flicker when I press them.

All the menu drop-downs (File, Edit, View, etc.) don't display and hold when I press any of them. They flicker on but immediately the content disappears and all that's seen is a ghost outline of the drop-down box. This happens with the major menu items as well as all of the sub-menu items.

Try to disable hardware acceleration.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

Why I can not scroll menu drop down via mouse wheel to pick an option that is not visible?

I am using FF 22.0 on Windows 8. When I start scrolling on drop down menu which show the vertical scroll bar via mouse wheel event on my touch pad when the cursor is on the menu area, Firefox just close the menu. I don't install any add on related to mouse/touch event.
Toggling Use autoscrolling, Use smooth scrolling, or Use hardware acceleration has no effect.
This error behavior is not happening in IE 10. I just want some clarification whether this is a bug or I just failed to find some configurations that fix it.

How do I make the Bookmarks menu drop-down larger?

I'm using a 1920 x 1200 monitor and the icons in the menu are too small. How do I make the Bookmarks menu drop-down larger?

Professional Menu Drop-Downs

My apologies if this is the wrong section. I am working on creating my own website http://www.outlookcounseling.com and was wondering if there are any good examples of standard JS drop-downs. I attempted using a script I found online; however, the menu drop-down was a little too dynamic for my liking and the menus themselves are not user friendly. Unfortunately, my javascript abilities are subpar so I've come online for help.

Make sure that you not run Firefox in [[Private Browsing]] mode.
In Private Browsing mode some menu items are disabled (grayed) and some features like visited links and others are disabled and not working.
You are in Private Browsing mode if you see "Tools > Stop Private Browsing".

Click on the small blue icon next to the menu widget and select top pages. That should hide the drop down menu.

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.01 can not open Pages 5.1 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5.1 files can not be opened in Pages 5.
Anything that is saved to iCloud is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has removed over 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs, including files that refuse rto open:

Whenever I click on my wireless mouse, a menu drops down containing several choices, and blocks the item that I clicked on.

I have an iMAC with the Yellowstone OS installed. This problem existed on the previous OS as well. Whenever I click on my wireless mouse, a menu drops down with several options on it. This menu then blocks my ability to click directly on the desired item. This is very irritating.

Try running this program and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor. Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read.

If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
    1.    Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
    2.    Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
    3.    Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
    4.    Open iTunes.
    5.    Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore.
(You may already have a micro USB cable if you have a camera or other digital device)

Xperia S upper menu rolls down without touching the screen

Hello all! I have a Xperia S with the lastet firmware. The error is the following: the upper menu, where there is a sound, wifi icon, date, etc, rolls down without touching the screen. If i touch the screen for texting for example, the upper menu rolls down and i cannot keep texting. I have to touch the power button to block the screen, and touch it again to enable the screen. Is then when i can roll up the menu y try to use the phone. I can do this for a short time because the menu goes crazy again. From Sony Care told me that i can repair it by using The Repair Phone/Tablet option from the Sony Companion software(lastest version). It hasn't repaired my phone. I'm really concerned about, what else can i do? It is a software issue or a hardware one? Thanks for your time! Greetings!

Hello Quester, Regarding the cover, it has one, but i removed it when the issue appeared for the first time. It has factory cover only.Hmmm, i'm really concerned about it. I don't want to believe that is a hardware issue, but maybe it is. I've tried to make a downgrade of the firmware. Once, it worked and the issue disappeared but after a couple, and while i was installing some apps, the issue appeared again. I was thinking that may be an app could cause the issue but after applying the repair tool from Sony Companion, the issue remains and the phone is cleared, without any 3rd apps. Did you try unplugging the unit from power, leaving it for ten minutes, then plugging in again?

Your photos are never "in" the catalog. The catalog just points to your images in their folders on your hard drive. Do you understand what smart previews are and how they are supposed to be used? Are your images on an external hard drive that is disconnected from your computer?

Change menu drop direction (drop-up)

Hey there,
Just getting started in Flex and was wondering if there's an easy way to change the direction a menu "drops"?
Or more simply, an easy way to get a "drop up" menu. Where there'd be a button at the bottom of the screen which expands vertically when clicked to expose its menu items. I was thinking I'd use the Menu component, but not sure how to change its behavior...
Or would it be easier to just create something myself? I know in JS/CSS I'd just make a div that slid into view...

If you want to create your own menu, then for the drop-up you'll need a parallel effect - with move and resize, something like the following:

var parallel : Parallel = new Parallel();
parallel.addChild(move);
parallel.addChild(resize);
