Menu gets strange in IE7

Hi,
I've created a sprymenu vertical. I had to add a hack so the
iFrame won't show this white frame when mouseover.
It solved the problem on IE6 but now on IE7 the menu get
stretched out and shrinks back on mouse over.
Any idea how to fix that?
here's the link:

Kin...
I am sorry for my attitude. This has been a frustrating
couple of months for me since switching to CS3 and the developer
toolkit. Having been forced at the same time to stop using my
Interakt tools, this has made my life a little stressful.
I put off some sites I needed to develop because I didnt want
to get stuck between software releases, and many of the tools I
took for granted with Interakt, dont even exist anymore.
Add to that the learning curve with Spry, and all the extra
time needed to work with all these tools, and it has been very
frustrating. Please accept my apologies, I know you guys are
working hard on all this, and in the end I'm sure it will all come
together for all of us.
That said.. I did look at that page and its fine in IE7
running Vista. What does this mean. Do I not have the latest js
file? I thought I did. OR does this mean it wont look right in the
other browser versions?
Thank you thank you thank you.... for getting back to me. I
wasnt looking for instant gratification, only to know that someone
was taking the issue seriously. The last mention of it I got was
that it looked fine on your end...so I was worried.
Please accept my apologies for being pushy. What should I do
to get that new file... or do I need to do anything at this point?

  • I'm getting strange files on my desktop "0A75SC100" & "0CFSC100" when I use Firefox. Can't open or trash them..

I'm getting strange files on my desktop when I use Firefox. They have no extensions, won't open, & can't be trashed. File names such as 0A75SC100 & 0CFSC100. When I restart my computer they disappear. There does not seem to be a correlation between a website and when these files appear.
Do I have some type of virus?

    Hi Midnight
When I got my imac and used it for a while, for some reason I get .exe, .rm, .mov, and some other files on my desktop
These can safely be ignored as they are probably left over files from something you may have downloaded or only partially download or leftovers from a failed download. The same applies for data transfers
and their filenames are like dhdhdhdhdhd or sjakdshlj34338 and stuff, and when I open them, they are some of my other files I already have, but they appear for no reason. What causes this and how can I prevent this from happening.
Looking at the repitition of letters its more than likely that you are the cause – yes you! You may find it hard to believe but its more than possible that when you think you are typing something and nothing seems to be happening its because you have in fact accidently selected something on your desktop and typed there instead.
I know they are viruses because they loaded just fine
This must be a grammatical error as it does not make sense.
    Hope this helps – Tony

  • Login is getting strange........

It seems that since I updated to the latest Tiger update that my computer has been acting strangely. It could be something that I did in Cocktail or Backup but here is my issue: I have my computer to start early in the morning and run Backup on my 2 external hard drives. It says both have backed up successfully. BUT, the new twist is that it restarts all on it's own after Backup runs and requires me to login when I start my morning. That never happened before. I have it set up to automatically login. AND that is the only time that I am asked to login, after Backup runs. If I restart during the day, it just logins like it's supposed to. This morning added a different twist- the login name was the name of my computer in the Network settings- not the login name short name. Ugh! This is getting stranger and stranger. Can anyone help me out? I will post this also in the Backup forum but thought I'd post here too..... Thanks for any help, Judy

The issue was resolved ages ago but I don't remember how....... sorry.

  • Spry Content Slideshow (Wonderlust) behaving strangely in IE7

    Hey all,
I am building a page  which uses the Spry Content Slideshow - it renders nicely in Firefox, Chrome, and IE8 - but in IE7 the content to the right of the rotating slide show images "flickers" - that is, it flickers in and out, based on movement of the mouse pointer over it.
Here is a link to the page: https://www.drmyattswellnessclub.com/New Website/indexTEST.html
Has anyone seen this before and does anyone have a fix for this strange behavior?
Any help will be gratefully received!
    Mark

I have corrected a bunch of the "errors" that it found - even adding alt tags to transparent spaceholder gifs and the like.
Others of the errors seem to make no sense - as might be expected of an automated checker - and yet others are in places that should make no difference to the function of the spry slideshow but could screw up the functionality of other features on the page if "corrected".
I have taken the liberty to abduct your slideshow and place it in a friendly environment, Please be free to check on its health here http://pleysier.com.au/wellness/
Now I'm at the point where tweaking the code to try to please the validator is running me around in circles...
If you think that it is merely a matter of pleasing the validator, you are in for a surprise
Unless there is some relatively straight-forward correction for the funky behavior of this slideshow thing in IE7 I'm just going to move on - my boss is getting impatient - and I'll find something else that ~does~ work...
    Mmmm....!
If I were a html/css expert I would have written this thing clean in the first place - but I'm not; I'm just a poor boob that made the mistake of addmitting to have once hand-coded a website from scratch back in the dinosaur-days of the mid 1990's - and so I got tasked with upgrading this website "cause you know all about that kind of stuff!"
Down under we call that foot-in-mouth disease.
    Frustrated...
I hope that the lighthearted comments above have relieved the tension. If you have any more Spry related problems, please do not hesitate to return here.

  • I am getting strange numeric symbols or tiles instead of text when using Firefox. Repeated reloads and virus scans have not fixed it. I can't find a patch. Help! I hate IE!

Each time I open Firefox, I get blocks or tiles of numbers for each character instead of text. The tiles appear as composites of four digits, stacked two by two. At some websites, normal text does appear in boxes but mostly as this numeric gibberish. The functionality of the Firefox software does not seem to have been affected. But if I can't read it, I can't use it.

Try to set the pref <b>gfx.font_rendering.directwrite.use_gdi_table_loading</b> to <i>false</i> on the <b>about:config</b> page.
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />

  • Why does the menu get cut off even if the project is widesrcreen?

I made a widescreen project in iMovie, exported it to iDVD, and chose a widescreen theme. It looked fine on my computer but when I burned it and played it on my home DVD player, the words were cut off. I also noticed that when played on some TVs, my movie (although widescreen) played as full screen and therefore, cut off some of the footage. Does anyone know how to fix this?

HOW TO MAINTAIN 16:9 ASPECT FROM IMPORT TO BURN
This is the way I do it. There is no compulsion on you to do it my way, but this works (for me). I started this method before iMovie and iDVD were upgraded to 6.0.3, and because not all elements of the various iDVD themes (particularly the pre-iDVD 6 ones) are consistent in keeping to 16:9 throughout the process.
The widescreen preview works just fine when you check your finished project within iDVD. The problem only happens when you either burn a project or save it to an image.
A bug in iDVD 6, particularly when working with PAL, and which has been reported to Apple, is that the sub-menus in many of the themes (the chapter settings) default to 4:3 aspect, NTSC and mpeg 1, instead of the desired 16:9 in mpeg 2 in PAL. This may be partly a leftover from iDVD 5 or even a newer ‘feature’ of iDVD 6. Either way, it is annoying when it happens, and we must hope Apple cure it in iDVD 7. In the meantime here is my failsafe workaround, which sounds a lot more complicated when reading about it, that it is in practise.
Living in the UK, I use PAL (25 fps). Wherever you see a reference to PAL (25 fps) in the following you may substitute NTSC (30 fps) in the various settings mentioned (if you don’t live in Europe), the basic idea is the same. I still use this method, and take these steps, regardless of whether it is always necessary. Worst case scenario: it would have worked anyway. Best case scenario: it works perfectly where it otherwise wouldn’t!
The object of the exercise is therefore to ‘fix’ all constituent parts of the project (video, titles, theme, effects, even audio!) in the desired 16:9 aspect to avoid producing a DVD where the movie is in 16:9 and the menu is in 4:3 or where other irritating surprises lurk in your project, which you only discover after burning a coaster!
First go to http://www.mydvdedit.com/index.php?lang=english and download myDVDedit. This is shareware although the download is free. Send the guy a few dollars/euros, he deserves it. While you are there, read all about it. Now install it in your Applications Folder. You will need it later.
You have finished your iMovie project with music, transitions and so on, and saved it to you Movies Folder. Before you started the project you naturally set it to DV Widescreen.
Open iDVD. Give the project a name, and save it as Widescreen if it didn’t default to the same aspect as your iMovie project. Now import the iMovie project into iDVD, choose a theme (any theme you like, even if it prefers to stay at 4:3) and save the project. Do what you would normally do to the theme and its drop zones. Save the project.
Now save as Disk Image on your desktop. Leave it there for the moment when it has finished/appeared.
Open your Movies Folder. Create a new folder. Name it PROJECTNAME – TS FILES (where ‘projectname’ is the name of your project!). Close the folder. You can of course call it anything you like, but this aids identification.
Now double-click the disk image on your desktop. It contains two folders: AUDIO_TS (which is empty, but please pretend that it isn’t) and VIDEO_TS. Drag and drop these to the folder you created in your Movies Folder. (This takes a moment).
Click on the AUDIO_TS folder and go to Get Info in the file menu. Right down the bottom is where you have to change the permissions. Under ‘Ownership & Permissions’ change this from Read Only to Read & Write. Click the small triangle next to Details, scroll down and click on ‘Apply to enclosed items’. You will be asked for your root password. Close the get info window, and now click on the VIDEO_TS folder and do the same. Close the Projectname-TS Files folder. You have now allowed yourself to change the properties of the contents of those folders, which leads us to the next all-important step.
Open myDVDedit. Go to File and open the projectname TS Files folder. By all means stare at it shock and awe, but don’t bother finding out what it can do, except for the following:
Top left you fill see a list of files. Lower centre you have a large window. On the vertical menu to the left of that, click te middle one (VTS or VMG).
In the window at the top left, ignore ‘First Play’ (if there was anything to correct in that, myDVDedit will have done so and told you).
Click on VMG Menu en (English). Now the whole thing springs to life.
Set Coding Mode to MPEG-2 (if it isn’t already)
Set Standard to PAL (or NTSC if that is what you want)
Set Aspect to 16:9 (not any of the other options)
    Now save the file.
Click on VTS Menu 1 en (English) and repeat as above.
Click on VTS Menu 2 and repeat as above.
You have now permanently ‘fixed’ the entire contents of the TS folder (the disk image) in 16:9 aspect. Close myDVDedit – you won’t need it again until the next project!
If you have Toast 7 Titanium, open it. ‘Select DVD-Video from VIDEO_TS’. Choose Select from the main Toast window and select your projectname-TS Files folder. You are now ready to burn! You can set the burn speed (2x recommended) before the burn commences. Allow Toast to verify the burn before you eject the DVD-R disk.
If you don’t have Toast 7, then I assume you can burn the projectname-TS Files folder (disk image) via Disk Utility. I say ‘assume’ only because I have never tried it that way.
Either way, you now have a DVD which will play as 16:9 widescreen on any TV set, even the old ones where you can’t ask it to letter-box.

  • Spry drop down menu not showing in IE7

I'm using Dreamweaver CS5, Windows 7 64bit OS, and tested in IE8 or newer and firefox all working perfectly.  (with the exception of IE7).

    Many thanks in advance!

All throughout this forum we  explain that you should stay away from absolute and relative positioned  elements. Again I shall say STAY AWAY FROM ABSOLUTE AND RELATIVE  POSITIONED ELEMENTS.
To illustrate this, remove id="floatdiv" from the menu container and you shall see that the menu works. OK, the  menu may not look like you want it to, but this can easily be fixed with  proper CSS.

  • Front Row TV Show menu gets confused and jumps back

I recently upgraded my Intel Mac mini to Mac OS X 10.5.5 (Leopard). Front row seems to get confused as I browse through my TV Shows menu. For instance, if I scroll down to "Heroes" (season 2) the select bar seems to jump to "Grey's Anatomy" on it's own. After it does this it also confuses the artwork for the shows.
I've only found one instance of this issue doing a Google search, but nothing here in Apple discussion forums. Has anyone dealt with this successfully.?

  • Get strange audio from other parts of the video when I am using transitions

In most cases when I add a transition, I get a strange piece of audio inserted during the transition. I know I can go in and manually edit this out, but is there some sort of fix to keep this from happening in the first place?

    Hello, Rick,
    Welcome to the discussions.
Yes, that is a problem that happens sometimes, especially with the Cross-Dissolve transition. I use that one a lot, and run into this with many of my clips. I have 'fixed' it with a variety of methods including muting, putting music over it, adding audio clips recorded from the beginning of the next clip....for this one I have to delete the transition, crop the next clip, remove it to the clips pane, add back the transition and record the audio from the deleted clip using WiretapPro. Works great and actually is faster than it seems.
You might be able to get some correction by trashing iMovie's preference file; Close iMovie. Go to YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.imovie.plist
If you also have iMovie 8, you will see its plist as com.apple.imovie7.plist, so be sure to trash the correct one.
Drag the plist file to the trash. Reopen iMovie and see if it works properly now.

The IE browsers implement z-indexing differently than most
browsers ... specifically, IE browsers establish a new z-index
context if you set the position CSS property of an element to
    anything other than static.
What this means is that if you set something to
position:relative ... any z-index values of children inside that
element will be relative to that element.
In your case, you seem to have a position relative on your
div FWTableContainer1966866324. If you set the z-index value to
something like 10, you'll notice that it fixes the problem.

  • Pop-Up Menu getting hidden behind Layers - HELP!

I'm designing with layers instead of tables for the first

part of my navigation buttons and when I checked it in the browser,

  • Getting strange error with connect by clause

    Hi Everyone,
I have a 2 test oracle databases and each of them contain a table called department (dept_no,dept_name, main_dept_no) where each department entry is connected to main department by dept_no in the MAIN_DEPT_NO column.
The strange problem is when I execute the query on the 1 ^st^ database I get D.DEPT_NO is not available column (D.* all columns from department table) but it is there and what is more strange this query works fine on 2 ^nd^ database.
Is there any settings I have to do in the database so that it can work with connect by clause ?
