Menu images appear blurry

I am using the "Reveal" theme which has several images along the left side and each of those images is pixilating even though the image size is 740x495 150dpi and RGB. The images appear OK on a TV screen but very pixilated on both Macs and PCs. How can I get them to be sharp on all computers and TVs?
Thanks,
LUCY

The images appear OK on a TV ....
This is the best way to actually judge the quality & performance of an iDVD. If it appears and plays well on an actual TV screen then iDVD has done what you have asked of it. Not much one can do beyond this with current media & burners.
Try this setting also:
720 x 540 pixels for standard video in NTSC format
Btw ...what media are you using? I recommend using Verbatim DVD-R Minus media and burning from a disc image at 4x or slower using apple's DU or Roxio Toast.

Hope this is helpful.

  • Why does my high res photoshop image appear blurry when placed in InDesign and Exported as PDF?

    Hi there,
I have a problem I've been trying to solve for days but just can't find the answer anywhere on the internet.
I have a large, good quality photoshop file (2268 x 979 pixels, resolution 300 pixels per inch). When I place it into InDesign, the image appears OK (I've changed my display settings to HIGH) - I then resize it in InDesign to 10% and the file still looks great! Then, when I export it as PDF (high quality print) it looks blurry.
Does anybody know why? The strangest thing is, I've placed other photoshop images in the same InDesign file and they look crystal clear. It is just this one I am having trouble with. I've saved it in the same folder as the other pictures, I've tried placing it as psd. , jpg. , photoshop pdf, png. everything...
The image looks great in both photoshop and indesign, only when exported as pdf it looks awful.
Any help will be greatly appreciated,
    Many thanks in advance!
    Weronika

It's probably the extreme reduction -- you're throwing away 90% of the image pixels and interpolating, and then using jpeg compression on top.

  • Imported images appear blurry

I'm just getting my feet wet with Keynote and I've opened up a powerpoint file which imported all the images in, no problem. As I continue to add new images to the file they show up low-res. I can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wronog. I've tried dragging the images from the finder and adding them through the insert > choose method and they come in the same way. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!

What version of Aperture are you using on your Tiger system?
I don't believe gamma settings changed from Tiger to Leopard (gamma 1.8) but they did change going to Snow Leopard (gamma 2.2). Since you're on Tiger, gamma may not be the reason for the difference, but it sounds plausible that you may have some settings using a different gamma in Tiger than on Leopard.

  • After upgrading to OS 10.10 some fonts appear blurry. Specifically top menu bar, desktop icons, mail

After upgrading to OS 10.10, some fonts appear blurry. Specifically top menu bar, desktop icons, mail and Safari. This only occurs after the computer has been running for awhile, not immediately after startup. I'm running an iMac, 20 inch, Mid-2007 with the following graphics: ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT 128 MB.
It's not a huge problem, just darn annoying. Thoughts anyone?

    Hi,
Please note that this upgrade related problem would very likely be what has been covered by the support document at the link below:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2537
If you also find any files named to include MessageSorting (which would mean you once have upgraded from a version of OSX earlier than 10.4, which is clearly the case for you), remove those, also, but never restore those.
Often this is all that needs to be done, but you might then need to force an overall reindexing via the removal of the Envelope Index. Note the special instructions when forcing the reindexing of IMAP or Exchange accounts in the following:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mail/3.0/en/14019.html
This will force the reindexing of all the POP mailboxes and all On My Mac mailboxes. With regard to any IMAP accounts if you have any, the practical result of this action of removing the account folder, is that with the IMAP account still set up in the Preferences, Mail will connect to the IMAP server and create a new account folder, and while doing so will index the messages in the mailbox folders of the IMAP accounts on the server.
    Keep me posted.

  • When I open my edited picture it appears blurry

I just downloaded the Photoshop CC 2014 trial in the adobe creative cloud app and I photoshopped my first picture. After saving it I opened it again and now it appeared blurry. After trying everyting it still appears blurry when I open the file. How can I open the file and get quality it was before I saved it?

Go to the menu Image then Image Size. Look at the pixel dimensions. The lower that number is the more blurred it will look as you need to zoom in to see it better.
Using the crop tool will lower that number. It is better to stay close to the original image to have a sharper image.
If you start with a low quality image and increase the pixel dimensions the image will get blurry as that is similar to zooming in.

I need some help resizing my images on PS6. I am using a mac and have been trying to resize with same resolution and constaining proportions but for some reaseon the smaller resized image appears pizelated. Heres an image of before and after. The first image I use is a JPG 72dpi 1500px x1500px and I want to downsize it to 600x600px same res, but it keeps pixelating, this has never happened before. Any suggestions, thoughts?
    thanks!

I wouldn't say pixelated; more like blurry.
Like ConnectedCreative said, what steps are you using? Are you using "bicubic sharper" when resizing down?

  • New PC, reinstalled CS4, photos appear blurry, but only inside of Photoshop???

I recently upgraded to a new PC, on Windows 7.  I've finally finished reinstalling everything and getting things back to "working order".  But I'm noticing something very troubling.  When I open previously edited photos in Photoshop, photos that I considered "final" (meaning they were print-ready), suddenly appear blurry.  The same photos viewed on my website are crisp and look as I remember them looking...so it's not the monitor.  Which leads me to believe that Photoshop is doing something odd to these pix.
Anybody have any ideas as to why the photos would appear blurry, but only in Photoshop?

OpenGL operation uses a smoother resampling, but if you're seeing it as "blurry" it could be that there are features configured on the GPU that suit gaming or something that are causing excessive blurring.  Normally the differences between OpenGL-based display operations and non-OpenGL are almost unnoticeable.
Any way you could capture your screen with/without OpenGL and show what you're seeing here?
Here's the same image screen grabbed at 71% magnification showing the OpenGL / non-OpenGL difference in display on a properly working system.
If you're seeing more blurry images than the one on the left, then you have a specific problem you should work to get to the bottom of.

  • When I save a Photoshop file as a PDF some of the text appears blurry, why?

I've created a file in Photoshop CS6 and saved it as a Photoshop PDF file. When it opens in Acrobat the larger text on the page (Font: Verdana, Size: 12 and 16) appears blurry, while the smaller text (size 10 same font) is perfectly clear? Why? Is it something to do with Acrobat or is it something wrong in Photoshop?
The image is from Acrobat zoom at 400% so you can see clearly.
*Normally I do not create in Photoshop unless it's an image or for the web but I had no choice in this project.

Reader is unable to create PDF files. You must be using some other product, and therefore should post your question in that product's forums.

  • Why does a TIF image look blurry when placed in InDesign file?

    Hi all,
I've placed a logo in my InDesign file that I saved out of Photoshop. It appear blurry when in InDesign and I do have it set to high image quality display so that isn't the issue. It is also set as CMYK and I haven't resized it after saving from Photoshop.
I tried saving a jpg so it would be crisper but then I have a white box behind it when placed in the InDesign file.
Any help is greatly appreciated as I need to send it to print but can't let it go until I'm sure it won't print like a blurry mess.
    Thanks

Sub-pixel sampling. Read up on it. you are placing your images at odd values and it gets resampled. Can be anything from the image inside the frame, the image frame itself, some styling option in ID...

  • The check marks in the check boxes I added to a Muse Form widget appear blurry.

The check marks in the check boxes I added to a Muse Form widget appear blurry.  Is there somewhere that I can edit the resolution of these?  Why would the default check marks be at the incorrect resolution?  Could it be something I did when designing the form?
    Thanks!

The checkmarls are simple images. If you scale up the check mark or look at it in higher magnification, it of course appears blurry.
You may want to replace the check marks by graphics of your own (perhaps scaleable SVGs)
Select a check box, open the states panel and see the different states; change the graphics for the desired state by using the "Fill"-command in command strip on top of the application window.

  • Quick Preview toggle - images appear very soft?

I have noticed that when using Quick Preview to run through images in my projects all images appear sharp, however if I toggle quick preview off and then back on again the image never sharpens.
This is similar to the effect you would get on first view, i.e. an initial soft image that sharpens when loading completes.
    Has anyone else noticed this?

    Hi guys:
I came searching for this same problem and only happened upon a solution (at least for me) very accidently. In my case the "softness" doesn't seem to be actually linked to the "quick preview" toggle.
When I pull down the "view" menu from the top of the screen, I pass the "quick preview" command and go down to the bottom to "Proofing Profiles". The profile for the proofing was set to one of many of my printer's profiles, which was not calibrated, yet, for my mac. I selected, instead, a previously saved calibration setting (one that I made using the simple calibration wizard under the monitor system preference) specifically for my monitor, and the viewer image changed to look exactly as the one in Browser thumbnail; sharp and detailed.
I certainly hope that this may help you. As I said, this is not based on in-depth knowledge of this program, just trial and error, so may not apply to your situation.
    Good Luck

  • Restored from Vault - extra images appear?

    First some background:
I was having stability problems with 1.5 so I decided to back it out.
I backed up the app and library and then deleted them.
I installed all the various versions till I was back up to 1.1.2.
Then I restored a vault that I had updated just prior to my 1.5 upgrade. (So the vault was completely up to date)
After the restore was finished I noticed images showing grey boxes insead of thumbnails. (Although the thumbnails would rebuild when I selected the image)
I switched to the Library "All Images" view to see if this was true of all images where I noticed my problem.
    Problem:
    - There are a bunch of JPG images named FILENAME - Version 2 that show up in the "All Images" view. These images appear to be the .JPG sidecars that got imported with my .NEFs when I imported a folder of images. However, before I could have sworn that the .JPG that corresponded to a .NEF did not show up in Aperture.
The .JPGs don't appear in the album view (Which is where the .NEF+.JPG's were originally imported into).
Is there anyway I can prevent the restore from vault from creating these new versions of the .JPG's?
Aperture also won't even load some of these .JPG's. It only loads the embedded thumbnail and "Loading..." stays on the screen. Not sure why, because preview loads them just fine. I don't think I care about this part since I don't want them.

Apparently no one cares, but I figured it out myself.
    It's a bug with Aperture
The Vault does not restore correctly if it contains images that had both a Master Raw and Master JPEG.
If you try to restore a vault that has images that were imported with both a raw file and a jpeg file the restore will create multiple versions of the image. One for the raw file and one for the jpeg instead of only having one image that contains both the master raw file and master jpeg.
    To reproduce:
    - Import a folder of images that contains pictures that had both a raw image and a jpeg.
    For instance:
    DSC_2428.NEF
    DSC_2428.jpg
    - Take a note of how many images are in your library.
    - Create a vault
    - Update the vault so that it contains all the pictures.
    - Go to the File menu and select Vault->Restore Library...
    - Select the Vault that you just created.
    - Continue the vault restore process until it has completed.
    - Now look at your Aperture library. You will see that you have twice the number of files as the jpeg's will show up as additional files with "- Version 2" after the filename.

  • Camera Raw problem; images appearing soft and without definition on import

Can anyone help? I am having problems with ACR version 4.6 ( I cannot upgrade ACR without upgrading to CS5). When I open a RAW image in ACR, the image appears soft, and with poor definition. As a result, they have failed quality control for upload to the Alamy picture library, despite having been shot with a Nikon D3. I am simply opening them with ACR defualts, then opening to photoshop.
The files open fine in Lightroom and Nikon Capture NX, however I prefer to use ACR for my workflow. Any suggestions? I don't what to shekll out for CS% if the problem is still there.
    Thanks, Robin

Have you tried resetting defaults? It sounds like either your Camera Raw default settings have been changed, or sharpening has been set to Previews only.
    1. Open an image in Camera Raw, select the Details tab, and check that setting are like defaults: Amount 25, Radius 1.0, Details 25, Masking 0. You can always reset defaults from the little menu icon on the right of the panel title.
    2. Check Camera Raw preferences, looking for the item: 'Apply Sharpening to:' and make sure it says 'All images'.
You might want to check other preferences too, especially the 'make defaults specific' settings, which, when used, create multiple default settings depending on camera and ISO.

  • OSX Lion jpeg 'preview' images are blurry after altering them

When i edit a photograph in photoshop (cs3/cs4 etc, it doesnt matter which version) the preview of that image goes blurry after its saved. The image is the full res still and hasnt lost any quality but when i have the icons that are of a large size they appear really blurry and 'low-res'
I know its a small gripe but it makes things difficult as a photographer when im trying to organise images that perhaps look similar or i want to see as a whole set.

Hello, sorry, I don't know the cure for this, but as a photographer you might have a look at Tr-Catalog, where you can choose the size thumbnail/icon/detail...
