Menu Locations / Keyboard Shortcuts in CC
I spent the day resetting my workflows and keyboard shortcuts as I transition from CS5.5 over to CC. Three questions:
1. Where is Create New Layer located in the InDesign menus? In CS5.5, I managed to create a custom shortcut in all three programs. In Creative Cloud, no matter how hard I look in InDesign, I can’t find a place to make a shortcut for this command.
2. In Photoshop and Illustrator, pressing the F key toggles between screen modes. In InDesign CS5.5, it did the same. However, CC doesn’t seem to have this feature. It wants to assign three different shortcuts for Normal, Preview, and Presentation screens. Is this correct, and is there any way to revert back to an “F” key toggle?
3. In Illustrator CS5.5, I was able to use a keyboard shortcut to resize a selected artboard once it was open (I can’t remember if this was a default or custom shortcut, but I used SHIFT + A). I can’t seem to find the menu command to do this in Illustrator CC.
Thank you!

Menu-specific menu item Keyboard Shortcuts
in Aperture, there are two menu items called Stack. I want to customise the shortcuts but to create a shortcut for the second instance of Stack, I need to specify the Menu that contains it.
does anyone know how to specify a menu:menuitem shortcut? Some shortcuts can be assigned with Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Keyboard and Mouse.
Others though if not available through the preferences of the application may need to be assigned through a macro utility like Startly's QuicKeys:

Services/Keyboard Shortcuts Suddenly Stop Working
Hi,
I have had a problem for the past month or two relating to services/keyboard shortcuts that I have created in 10.10. I have had these same shortcuts for approximately 18 months and they worked fine on previous versions of OS X but since 10.10 they stop working after approximately 30-40mins. As I say it is only in 10.10 in 10.9 they worked all day every day without a problem.
I have created a service which allows me to right click on a directory of images and select a name to rename all the images within that directory in descending order. I have also created a keyboard shortcut that allows me to launch the Chrome App Launcher.
When I boot up the keyboard shortcut works fine. When I right click on a directory I see the services menu with all the services I have added. But after 30 minutes or so the keyboard shortcut no longer works (Apples on built in keyboard shortcuts work as they should) and if I right click on a directory the services entry is missing but apples own services appear at the bottom, the ones I have created created don't.
If I try to access services through the menubar the services I have created are missing but apples own services are still there. In the services menu my keyboard shortcuts also appear but clicking on them does nothing.
I have 2 images which show a before 30 mins how my context menu/menubar menu look and after 30 mins.
I hope my question and images make sense and someone can help me find a remedy for this.

In MAC 10.7 or later the Library is hidden. I sent you a link in the above post to unhide library , you can refer to that. Once its open you can navigate to Indesign locations and do the needful.
Steps to access hidden Library on MAC.
Open Finder.
On the top left there will be a option GO.
Click on Go and Go to Folder.
Type ~/Library and click on Go, it will open hidden Library.
To access Hidden Library:

Is there a way to customize keyboard shortcuts in applications?
Some applications allow keyboard shortcuts to be customized, usually in preferences, but I'm wondering if there's a way to customize keyboard shortcuts in apps that don't have this feature built in.
from Apple's OS X Help Menu:
Create keyboard shortcuts for apps
Assign your own keyboard shortcuts to menu commands in any OS X app, including Finder. This might be useful if a global shortcut, which works the same with most apps, conflicts with a specific app shortcut. In this case, you could assign a different key combination.
You can only create keyboard shortcuts for existing menu commands. You cannot create keyboard shortcuts for general purpose tasks such as opening an app.
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Keyboard.
Open Keyboard preferences for me
Click Shortcuts, select App Shortcuts, then click Add (+).
Click the Application pop-up menu, then choose an app. If you want to set the same key combination for a menu command that appears in many apps, choose All Applications.
If the app you want to select doesn’t appear in the list, choose Other, then locate it using the Open dialog. Some apps may not allow you to set keyboard shortcuts.
Type the menu command for which you want to set a keyboard shortcut in the Menu Title field.
You must type the command exactly as it appears in the Application menu, including ellipses and any other punctuation. To type an ellipsis, use three periods without spaces.
Click in the Keyboard Shortcut field, press the key combination that you want to assign to the menu command, then click Add (+).
You can’t use each type of key (for example, a letter key) more than once in a key combination.
Quit and restart any apps you’re using for the new keyboard shortcut to take effect.
If you assign a keyboard shortcut that already exists for another command or another app, your new shortcut won’t work. Find the menu command that’s using it, then reassign the keyboard shortcut for that item.
To remove a customized shortcut, click Delete (–).

Can't seem to create keyboard shortcuts
I have just purchased a Mac mini and am brand new to Apple so I presume I am running 10.6.2 but if more info is required you may need to direct me a little. My old PC died and I was sold the Mac mini as a drop-in replacement that could use my new screen / keyboard.
I am unable to work out how to create a keyboard shortcut e.g., to associate the 'Home' key with 'Go to beginning of line.' I can get into System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts > Keyboard & Text Input OK. Clicking on the plus sign (Add an application shortcut) beneath the lists brings down the sub-panel with Application | Menu Title | Keyboard Shortcut OK.
The problem is that I can only enter keys from the numeric keypad and arrow key cluster in the Keyboard Shortcut field, but nothing from the main section of the keyboard or the Ins / Del / Home / End / PgUp / PgDn cluster. Not letters, or numbers, or any other keystrokes that I can tell. I just get the system bell.
It is a new Logitech keyboard which I set to US International layout as I work with accented character sets. Any assistance appreciated. You wouldn't be able to define that specific shortcut anyway. Try using Control-B (Off the top of my head; this page has a full list of them) to move to the beginning of a textfield / line.

Keyboard Shortcuts for Nested Menus
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v250/deb6404/AutomatorKeyboardShortcutExample. png
If you take a look at the above screenshot, you'll see that there are a couple automator functions I've added as plugins in Finder.
They work great when I use them, but I can't seem to get a keyboard shortcut to work. When I assign them by name (System Preferences -> Keyboard and Mouse -> Keyboard Shortcuts -> Application Keyboard Shortcuts -> Finder, then add a new one) it puts a shortcut next to it as though it should work.
But it doesn't. If I navigate to the Automator menu in Finder as show below, the keyboard shortcut WILL trigger.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v250/deb6404/AlmostWorkingAutomatorKeyboardSho rt.png
But accessing it with just the file selected, Finder doesn't seem to want to access the nested menu.
How do you add a nested Finder menu to Keyboard Shortcuts?
Thanks! What you want would be very handy, but I don't think it can be done. AFAIK the menu shortcuts that you can add are for those in the menu bar, not the Contextual menu, I was astonished that it even FOUND the contextual menu and started displaying a "shortcut" for it, not in the least bit surprised that the putative shortcut didn't work. You probably want some sort of shareware application like Spark or QuicKeys. Spark is free and I liked it in Tiger, don't know if it will work in Leopard, and is free. QuicKeys is, I think, rather pricey.

Keyboard shortcuts error - please re-install Photoshp CC
When loading up Photoshop CC I get an error message which says something like "unable to locate keyboard shortcuts, please re-install Photoshop CC. How can I do this?
Well, not knowing whether you have a Mac or PC, you would use the uninstaller found in the PS CC folder (Mac) or Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel (Windows).
Then you can reinstall using the Creative Cloud Desktop app. There would be an "Install" button next to Photoshop CC if your uninstall went correctly. Don't forget to apply any updates through Help > Updates, since the reinstall would go back to the base version. 14.0 instead of 14.2.1.

Import keyboard shortcuts to photoshop cc 2014
I can't get my keyboard shortcuts to import to Photoshop CC 2014. I've tried several different ways, lastly exporting them from CC and then importing them in CC 2014 and each time is says it is successful but none of my keyboard shortcuts or brushes appear
If you modified keys in CC did you save them. If in CC you use menu Edit Keyboard Shortcuts. and Use the pull-down to select Photoshop Default keys and the current key have not been saved you will get an option to save them. Save the keys to a meaningful name. You should the I believe you will be able to migrate you preset from CC to CC 2014 and will be able to get them in CC 2014.

InDesign 5.5 Missing keyboard shortcuts
I'm using ID5.5 and my keyboard shortcuts aren't listed next to my commands, and the ones I know by heart aren't working. It's like they're missing. My teacher thinks I'm stupid and I can't find how to fix this for a MAC. I've seen a post about Windows, but I am working on a mac.
You saw the keyboard shortcut if are the one that you saved?

Keyboard shortcuts with ALT+(letter)
In LabVIEW CVI it's easy to set keyboard shortcuts so that a user can jump to a control using ALT plus the letter that has been set for that control. Now that I'm working in LabVIEW, I'm having trouble figuring out how to do the same thing.
For example, a numeric control on the page is called "Start Value". I want to designate "ALT+t" as a shortcut for the control. Ideally, the first "t" would be underlined and pressing "ALT+t" would cause the focus to switch to this control.
Any insights on how to do this in LabVIEW?There are ways to do this, but they are not as straight forward.
For example create a runtime menu and assign items in your runtime menu the keyboard shortcut. Then using the "Event Structure" look for the runtime menu selection to occur and assign that same event for your button press. Then the code is executed for either a button press or a keyboard selection.
Below is a link for creating runtime menus:
http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/17803aa31c8c07c986256cfd0080d609?opendocument
Attached is an example. The vi and its runtime menu need to be in the same directory.

"Update Link" keyboard shortcut
Is there a keyboard shortcut to automatically update modified links? I couldn't find it in Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts, maybe there's a different way?
Thanks!Try this....
- go to the menu Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts
- in the popup window, select Panel Menus
- scroll down the section that starts with Links... until you get to Links: Update Link
- set a command key of your choice
- click 'assign'
- another window will appear saying you can't modify the default set - and do you want to create a new set based on the default. Click yes
- in the new popup window, name the set, and click OK
- click OK in the open window
... you should be good to go.
good luck!

Keyboard shortcut to open a cells pop-up menu and select from list of options.
I guessed Option-Return would be the shortcut from this, as it typically lets you edit a cells contents, but no. Read the keyboard Shortcuts list in Numbers>Help but didn't see anything.
Hi ts,
Thanks for drawing my attention to this! Let's add some missing detail…
While "you just press spacebar" to open the pop-up menu, that won't select a menu item.
After you've opened the menu, 'you could press the first letter' of an entry, ( 'like every other pop-up list on Earth,') or you could press the down arrow to step down the list (and the up arrow to step up, if you went beyond the item you wanted to choose).
And you can change your mind; the menu will stay open until you confirm your choice (by pressing the space bar again, OR by pressing return OR by pressing enter).
Note that pressing the first letter will select the 'smallest' item name beginning with that letter. To move to another item name starting with that letter, you'll need to use the up or down arrow key (or the mouse).
Thanks again for posting. With luck, WideEyedPupil will still be monitoring this discussion, and will see these posts.

How do I setup a keyboard shortcut for an item in the Services menu?
In every Application, under the application menu is a "Services" folder. I would like to be able to setup a keyboard shortcut for one of these services (namely Skype).
I am a heavy user of the "Services > Skype > Call" command and I would love to have a keyboard shortcut for it.
I went to System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard Shortcuts, clicked on the plus sign to create a new shortcut (all applications) and entered "Services…Skype…Call" and assigned it to a keyboard command (shift-F1).
It doesn't work. Any clue as to what I am doing wrong?Hi
Also - have a look at the reply I gave at the link below (sorry - don't know how to insert proper links here).
May be of interest, maybe not.
