Menu loops forever

Hi,
I have the following problem with Encore DVD 1.5.1:
I want to create a menu with audio background. The audio file should only play once, so I set the loop to none. However, no matter what I set for the loop count, it always repeats the music title forever!
Any ideas?
I have Encore DVD 2.0 also, but it's completely unusuable because it freezes as soon as I import an (already DVD-compliant!) MPEG2-file.
Thanks,
Sven

I figured this one out by myself: It's not a bug, it's simply a missing feature! You can tell an animated button to stop after a specific number of loops, but not the background audio!
This topic can be moved to the feature requests.

  • PE7 Loops forever generating DVD Menu with Blue Notes template

I have observed that PE7 will loop forever while generating the DVD Menu (when the target is either a DVD or a directory).  This will always happen when using the Blue Notes template if there are more than one main menu markers in the video to be produced.  It does not happen if there are one or no main menu markers.  It also does not happen with other menu templates.  I've confirmed this problem on multiple computers even after a fresh install of PE7.
It starts to loop after all the media has been processes right at the beginning of the write to the DVD or directory.
Where can I get a Blue Notes template that works properly?

I don't think a screen capture will help.  The problem happens with any test file that has two main menu markers on it.  This causes the blue notes template to duplicate the main menu with one marker on each.  If it makes a difference, I'm using a 16:9 aspect ratio for the video project.
My Blue Notes _mm template is dated 9/16/08 and is 3,855,333 bytes (same as your 3.765 KB in the explorer view).  This happens with or without any scene menu(s) present.  My guess is a bug in the Blue Note main template.

  • How Can I Create a Menu Where the Audio Loops Twice But the Video Loops Forever

I'm wanting to create a 50 second looping menu with a video background and some music, but I only want the music to play twice.  After the second time the music plays, I'd like the video background to continue looping, but not have any music.
How could I achieve this while giving the user the ability to make menu selections at any time?  I've seen it done on a number of commerically available DVDs and Blu-rays, but I can't figure out how to do it in Encore.
    I'm using Encore CS6.
    Thanks.

I do not know if that works, but I don't see why it wouldn't.
I'm not sure what you're referring to.  Are you referring the commercially available DVDs that I've seen achieving what I mentioned in the first post?
There's definately a way to do this, but perhaps Encore just insn't capable. I always find it annoying when a DVD menu loops music or some other audio infinately.  I may stick a disc in the player and walk into the other room to do something while it's loading up.  I always appreciate it when whoever made the disc only has the music or audio looping a couple of times, then it stops.
Just wish I could do the same.

  • Menu looping doesn't work?!?!?

    Hi there,
pls help me in this... I'm a Mac user. I'm had been using encore since 1.5v. Now to CS5 with same setting... How come it doesn't work?
I had created a 30sec video of .mov.
Open up encore. Created a menu at Photoshop and import it into encore as a menu with just the buttons, two of it, 1 and 2, with no background as I wanted to have the 30sec video of .mov as the background. I import the 30sec video into the project panel name background.mov. I pull and drop on to the menu with the Alt key then it will drop in as the background. After that, I then check on the Menu panel >Motion, checked, video is there, audio set as nothing, duration is 30secs, uncheck animate buttons, Loop Point as 00:00:00:00, Loop#: Forever.
Then I burn the disc with a DVD-R.
Test on my DVD Player, it just won't work, the DVD menu just loop once and then it will automatically play the DVD. What's wrong?!? I'm going crazy... If u know my mistake, pls do send me a email at [email protected] I hope is not the software problem...

You're right, startMenu does absolutely nothing.... I saw it
on the adobe video workshop and it didnt refer to anything in their
fla either.. as far as i know..
and yes menu exists on frame 1 of actions, its off the stage
but its there since you told me to make it available...
about the child part, yes it is, Do i have to import the
parent and assign it the child??
i sent you the link to the fla

  • Can't set a menu loop point for my buttons to come in

because my menu loop background video has text that flies in, i need my menu buttons that correspond to that text to come in on a delay. reading my dvdsp3 book, it seems i would need to set a loop point in the menu to trick it into doing this, however i cannot set a loop point on my menu - that option is greyed out and i cannot toggle it.
the guide i have says looping isn't possible if i add drop zones or text, but i have done neither within dvdsp3.
    any help appreciated
    thanks

ok i think i know what happened
i was using moving video as an asset for my buttons
once i changed that i could set a loop.
i guess i will edit my moving video into small "buttons" in FCP and then create the real selection buttons in DVDSP3.

  • Devices and Printers Menu takes forever to load

Devices and Printers Menu takes forever to load in WIndows 8.1.
For some reason the green bar goes all the way across the top of the screen before the devices and printers
menu will load. It then loads without an issue after waiting for almost two full minutes.
This is a core I7 Win 8.1 PC with 16GB of ram and an SSD so it screams otherwise.
I do have a lot of devices on my home network but my windows 7 PC which is on the same network loads the devices
and printers menu almost instantly. If it were a device hanging up you would think that the Windows 7 PC would also be affected but it isn't. I will say that Windows 8.1 does identify a whole lot more devices that fall into the category of "multimedia
devices" on the network than does windows 7.
I have tried accessing the menu from safe mode both with and without networking and it takes just as long
    to load.
I have noticed that most of the devices in Devices and Printers also show up in file explorer under network.
There is however no delay accessing that menu.
I don't really have a good feeling as to how to go about troubleshooting from here?

    Hi,
For the issue, it seems one of services related to device stopped.
I suggest you check the services to see if they start.

  • Buttons only appear after menu loops

I am new to encore and I am having some problems. I have set up my menu to loop and a certain point and I have put all my buttons on the menu. When I go to preview the menu, the buttons only appear after the menu loops for the first time. I am sure there is a simple solution, but if someone could help me out that would be great.

    >Please provide a bit more detail about your Menu and your Project. The Buttons should appear, when the Menu is navigated to.
Yes, after the menu enters the loop point that you can define for each of your menu.

  • CS6, standard motion menu loops to black

Since I have beaning having the problem with rendering my blu-ray project, I worked on a DVD project today that I had previously completed in CS5.5
My client requested some changes, so I made the modifications in Premier Pro, created a MPG2 file,
and replaced it in the encore project. This is a motion menu (standard "NTSC_Floral Menu").
Since this worked previously I had no doubt it would work again, but when I viewed the DVD, the menu (motion) only runs for about 30 seconds and goes to black. The thumb nail buttons are still visible (non animated).
The exact same thing happens in Preview!
    Loop is set to forever!

Great, thank you both for your replies.
The motion menu is not created by me but one of your standard menu's included in the library. All I did was import the video and audio, create thumbnail buttons and linked to chapter points (non motion buttons).
Also when I replaced the asset, I did not use the "replace Asset option". I essentially did it the old school way (dumb way) by importing the new video asset only (not the Audio) with a new name. The change made to the Ppro project was just text. I then deleted the old asset, recreated my chapter points and relinked to the buttons.
Again, this problem never happened in CS5.1, only now in CS6.

    Hello,
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
Please report back to see if this helped you!
    Thank you.

  • Menu Loop

I want to play an entire audio song - 6 1/2 minutes for the menu, but have a continuous 30sec loop of video. How do I loop one & not the other? Is there an easy way doing this through options on the menu settings...or do I need to edit something together for 6 1/3 minutes & put it on a track to loop?
    Thanks in advance!
    Heather

You are best off doing this in final cut. Lay the audio bed on the timeline and add the video enough times to match the time for the audio... export from there and use this as the background asset for the menu. If you don't compress to MPEG2 from FCP then you can add other items from DVDSP to build your menu. Otherwise, you need to create this as a standard overlay menu as if you created the image using photoshop.
There is no way in DVDSP to repeat the video loop to match the audio in this way.

  • Setting motion menu loop point to 1 second or under causes Encore CS3 to crash

Has anyone else had this problem?  I created a motion menu that I want to loop to a point just 24 frames after the beginning (the motion background fades in over 24 frames), but every time I try it causes Encore to crash when I go to preview the DVD and get to the loop point.

    No.
VOB files (or Video OBjects) are the multiplexes for the timelines, and also (in the VTS_xx_0.VOB) the menu files themselves.
IFO (or InFOrmation files) tell the player what should be there.
Cells are the smallest part a menu or a timeline can be broken down into, and they need to be at least 1 second long.
(If you could see "under the hood" and have multiple cells in a motion menu, and a return call is made (after the movie has played) to cell 2 ignoring cell 1 (which could be, EG, a copyright warning or whatever) you might see:
CallSS VMGM (menu ROOT, rsm_cell 2)
which would tell the player to return to the Root menu at the second cell, bypassing the first cell completely.

  • Encore CS4 Menu Loop & Title Button Problems

Unable to find this issue in an existing thread.
Root/first-play menu is motion and set to infinite loop. Sometimes it will loop and sometimes it will just jump to some other timeline after the first pass. There seems to be some kind of interaction with the title button. The title button is linked to the root menu. If the motion menu fails to loop, it will instead,  jump to the place in a timeline where the title button was last pushed after the first pass. If the title button has never been used, then it just starts at the beginning of another timeline (consistent for each DVD build, but can vary will different builds)
I have gone over and over all the menu and link settings and cannot find anything missing or wrong. The problem is independent of media, record speed, or player. If I play in my PC, it will not loop, but just jump off to another timeline after the first pass. Everything works as expected in Encore simulation (preview). The DVD has 2 sub-menus and 4 timelines.
The title button is also acting strange. If you press title a second time before entering a timeline, it will go back to where you were in the timeline when you pressed it the first time. Press it again and it will go the expected root menu & button.
    Alan

Sorry you didn't get a response to this question before now.  It is an odd problem, and I don't see that you are doing something wrong that leads to an answer.
I would double check to be certain that no overrides are set anywhere (accidentally or otherwise).
The last time I recall a problem where things were just odd, there was a simple error that none of us thought of.
I would troubleshoot by doing a save as, and then removing elements one at a time, or creating a new project, and adding elements one at a time.

  • SetInterval repeat when finished looping forever

    Greetings,
The following setInterval example is right out of the Flash
documentation, and I'm using this method to periodically, create,
animate and fade out (using the tween class) some items on screen
This code from the docs traces the contents of an array,
passed as parameters, at one second intervals. What is the best way
to have it start again when completed, thus beginning again to
trace the first parameter-- and so on forever looping.
Thanks in advance to all you AS experts.

Yes, it does seem to be one of those things that a lot of
folks struggle with – I did too way back.
Just remember that it means, "keep doing what I tell you at
the agreed upon interval – until you are told to stop." I
think assigning the return value to a variable is a big part of the
confusion. Really it is just like getting a ticket in a bakery.
There can be many interval running at the same time, so to keep
them straight flash gives them a number – the first one is 1,
the next 2, and so on.
So all that we are doing with the assigning to a variable is
pulling the bakery ticket out of the machine and hanging on to it.
There is no way to know what the number will be until we pull it
out or what it was if we lose it. So we have to keep it around (by
putting it in a variable). Then later we can say, "Oh yeah,
remember interval 5, well cancel it now."
Remember too, that the internal Flash classes may also use
setInterval so you can never count on, "Well the last interval I
used was 4, so this next one will be 5."

  • Menu Loop Point 1-second skip

I'm hoping somebody can help me...
I've created a menu that has a video clip background, and set a loop point about 4 seconds in (after everything flies in, and the image remains static).
The problem is that from the "At End:" dropdown list, "Loop" is selected, but in the box next to it, the duration (number of seconds) input field is not available to me -- I can't change it. So it's set on "1 sec"... but that leaves a terrible pause at the end of the clip before it goes back to the loop point, and I'm trying to give it a seamless loop (which seems like it should be the logical default).
What am I doing wrong?? I've searched the manual and this forum, and can't find an answer. Please help ASAP... thanks!
    OZ

It's a great suggestion, Hal. Thanks. But are you really saying that that skip is unavoidable? What's the point in being able to "loop" something, if the loop can't appear seamless?
I'm not doubting that you know what you're talking about, I'm just surprised if such a fundemental problem hasn't been resolved by the manufacturers. Or am I really that much more pedantic than everyone else out there? (From what I've seen on this forum, I'd find that hard to believe!)
Thanks for the great suggestion, anyway. (I've done something similar, where the music fades out at the end of a 2-minute menu, and when it loops, you can very clearly see the stutter, but it almost looks intentional. Not nearly as efficient (or effective) as the looping 20-second menu I was originally planning, but if that's the technology's limitations, well, whaddya do?)
