How can I change menu language in Oracle Report&Form from my Local language(Thai) to English?

It is possible to configure the Locale and the Input Locale as a valid OS basis for Forms/Reports' NLS settings. These steps need to be performed at
Start - Settings - Control Panel - Regional Options
1. General:
Choose the required language in Your Locale.
Choose language in Language Settings for the System (which will provide the font sets).
Press Set Default.
Optionally the Advanced button offers the possibility to choose fonts for specific character sets.
Note: If the fonts are not already installed on this system the MS Windows CD will be asked for to get them installed.
2. Input Locale:
This setting configures the keyboard to run with a specific character set.
Choose Add and select a language as Input Locale and a Keyboard Layout related to this language.
OK and Set as Default.
Closing the Regional Options dialog with Ok. The system needs to be rebooted now. After it is up again there is a small icon in the task bar that shows the current Input Locale. With this icon the Input Locale can be switched adhoc.
Comments:
- After changing the Locale it should not be expected that all OS related menus, dialogs, etc. are now in this language, they will not. This depends on the installation language of the OS.
- The Input Locale can be changed dynamically while typing. No rebooting is required for a new Input Locale.
- Besides this configuration tasks you must be aware of the fact that some Reports output formats like RTF, ASCII, PDF, ... have some restrictions dealing with fonts of specific character sets which are not Oracle Reports related but depend on the output format's technology.

We are using some character mode report for bill printing. But when i run these report through menu on Web i got error message like

i don't want to change the character mode to any other mode because it effects the printing.

You have to pass the PRT file name as value for the DESFORMAT and use mode= MODE=CHARACTER.
E.g.

I have converted my few reports from Oracle Developer forms 5 to Oracle Developer forms 10g,
i am running these reports on Web, for that i have configour "rwserver" server.
But when i run these report through menu on Web i got error message like

How to export/import database from tools menu in sql developer.

Hi,
I need to export database from a server and import it on another db server using the export database function under tools menu in SQL developer. How do I import it? This is for Oracle 10g database.

Depends what are you trying to do? Are you making a database copy or just creating an empty schemea or creating schema with the data?
With 10g, you have also options of using datapump (expdp/impdp) and conventional export/import which is very usefule and easy to use when it comes to create a clone (duplicate schema) or an export/import of some objects.
If you right click on table object, you have options of export ddl/export data and import data but thats different thant what expdp/impdp or conventional export/import provides. For very small database you can use sqldeveloper but consider
using other above mentioned options. Hope this helps

i have started OC4J instance,no compilation error showed,when i run the form module nothing display in Oracle developer forms runtime-web.

Pls state ur Os, Forms Version and the JIntiator Version from the control panel
if u r using forms 10g pls may be u forgot to set the following form the Form's menu
Pls Select > Edit Menu > Preferences > RunTime Tab > Set the Browser u have to use.

Oracle developer to Oracle Applications

Hi Everyone,
This is a question for all Oracle Apps Consultants - I am an oracle developer with over 4.5 yrs of development exp in Oracle, Forms & Reports in a plethora of industries. I now wish to switch to Oracle Apps - this is based on the belief that the skeleton of Oracle apps is in Forms & Reports. What is the best way to go about it ? All comments on this are most welcome.

I believe, you should build a report using the report builder (if it is a custom report), access the test database, compile and run it as standalone. Then using the system user rsponsibility you can define a custom report under reports menu of the navigation pane in apps. This will upload the reports under the report directory of the application architecture. You may have to define other parameters such as who can execute this report (security) etc.
Using the relevant application window you may invoke your reports via application.

What is the menu/function setting to access Oracle Developer?

The problem is likely with the responsibility that you are using. In many cases, you will see two responsibilities:
Configurator Administrator (menu = Configurator)
Oracle Configurator Administrator (menu = CzDevMainMenu)
You want to use "Oracle Configurator Administrator" if you are accessing the HTML Configurator Developer Application.
The "Configurator Administrator" responsibility was used prior to the introduction of the HTML interface (11.5.9 and earlier). This responsibility only provides access to various concurrent programs for setting up the remote servers, importing/refreshing models and publishing models. It will not provide access to the HTML Configurator Developer application.

Urgent: Some Problem on using Oracle Developer and Oracle 8i

I have download the Oracle Developer from this website.
I follow the instruction and install the Oracle Developer.
After I finished install the Developer, a error message shows:
"user1.pin(20):OS_ERROR whilw spawing if srv60-install Forms60Server -OraHome81d2 port:900mode:Socket batch:yes."
When I login in the SQL Plus 8i using User name: sys
A error message shows "ORA:122-03: Unable to connect to destination"
I can't use the Scheme Builder also and when I open the Net8 Assistant, I can't close the program in a normal way:
Click X on the corner/ Click File->Exit.
Would you help me to solve this problem? Thanks!

The problem that u are unable to login into sql prompt is may be that, you havent install the database or if u have installed it u havent started it.
If u are using windows nt,2000,xp then u can start it from services which is under administrative tools or if u are using 95 or 98 then u have to start the database from the program menu.
The problem that developer net8 assistant doesnt exit is a reality and i also face this problem, I think it is a bug of oracle, and if i started it, i have to endtask it.

Connection Problem When Using Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio

I tried to create an Oracle Connection in my Visual Studio 2008 after installing Oracle 11g, Oracle Data Access Components (ODAC) with Oracle Devleoper Tools for Vissual Studio version 11.1.0.6.20.
I followed the directions according to "Building .NET Applications Using Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio, when I click Test Connection, I keep getting the error message below.

I solved the problem.
This is what I did for the benefit of the embryonic newbe like me.
On the Add Connection Dialog
1.     For Data source name I selected Local Database
2.     I clicked on the specific User Name and I typed SYSTEM
3.     For Password, I typed orcl (the password I setup during the installation) (HR did not work for me for User name and Password according to the tutorial instructions)
4.     For Role, I selected Default
5.     Connection Name, I selected Local Database
6.     Before proceeding any further went to Windows XP SP3 where I was operating from, under Start Menu, I selected Administrative Tools then Services
a.     On the Windows Services (Local) Dialog, under name, I selected OracleServiceORCL and OracleOraDb11g_home1TNSListener. I clicked on them one at a time
b.     On the presented Dialog, under Service Status, I Clicked on the Start Button to start the Services
c.     Then I went back to the Add Connection Dialog. I clicked on Test Connection, it connected okay. I finally clicked on Okay to connect.

Jdeveloper in oracle development suite

I was using oracle jdeveloper 10g. but now i have to work on forms too so i have to down load oracle development suite. I was excepting that i will contain the latest version of jdeveloper but thats not the case.
Now can i update the jdeveloper (it does not updates from check updates menu show error)

no, Developer Suites follow the major releases that include Forms. This is 10.1.2 at the current. If you want to build for Forms using a newer build then just make sure you link to frmall.jar from the project library (okay, it does not have the Forms PJC wizard, but I couldn't remember having used this at all)

Suggestions for the Oracle Developer Tools for VS2005

I'd like to start a thread for constructive feedback of the Beta version of these Oracle Developer Tools for VS2005.
First off, check the known issues here before posting:

So, here are my issues:
- In the Oracle Explorer, when you right click on a large table and click "Retrieve Data..." it hangs the IDE until an apparent timeout value of 30 seconds, then shows a message box stating that "The query is taking a long time. Would you like to continue" ...waiting? I think the better approach here is to follow MS. In Menu Tools -> Options -> Database Tools -> DataConnections, there is a setting to limit SQL results to x number of rows. I think ODT should do one of the following. 1. Read this value and apply it. OR 2. Hardcode a value of 100 - 500 rows. 3. Add a setting similar to MS in the Options...
- In the Oracle Explorer, when you right-click on a view and click "Design..." the code for the view opens, but is not very readable because the line breaks are interpreted a little boxes. After dumping it into a hex editor, you can see the little box characters are Linefeeds (Char(10)). If these are all replaced with Carriage Return+Linefeed (Chr(13) + Char(10)), and pasted back into the editor in VS2005, it works perfectly. Note: My Oracle 9i Server is running on the Linux platform.
- I know this is a known issue, but this one's a biggie for me. Drag and drop is not supported from Oracle Explorer to the XML Schema Designer. Will Drag-and-Drop of tables generate TableAdapters as well with the Fill methods?
- Pre-existing Triggers don't seem to be visible in the Oracle Explorer.

I am new to Oracle but not to VS. I have downloaded and installed the newest tools for Developer, having first tried the install for VS2003.net (which refused to install on my VS 2005.) I got the beta download and installed it, but my oracle explorer shows nothing. Any attempt to add a connection results in an error ORA-12560:TNS:protocol adaptor error. I had the full install of 10g r2 on my notebook, but removed it and opted for the XE version. I removed the Oracle_Home environment variable prior to installing XE. I am trying to connect to the HR database, and the account is unlocked. I saw a reference to the tnsfiles file, and that seems to be the problem, but I don't know what to do about it. Thanks in advance to anyone who can offer help.

Does Oracle Developer /Server(Japanese) support Internet deployment

I am working on Oracle Sever 8.0.4 / Oracle Developer 6.0 / Apache Web Server 1.3.6 / WinNT. I am trying to access the Oracle Forms thru Internet and made the settings according to the explanation given in the Developer6.0 technical papers. But When I access a form from Internet, it is not displaying the requested form and falling into the wait state. When observed in Apache's error log file, I saw the following error messages :
File Not Found : d:\orant\froms60\java\oracle\forms60\engine\RunformBudle_ja.class
File Not Found : d:\orant\froms60\java\oracle\forms60\engine\RunformBudle_ja.properties
File Not Found : d:\orant\froms60\java\oracle\forms60\engine\RunformBudle_ja_JP.properties
I made the system wide search for these files but not seen....
I could able to run these forms with "web deployment" option in the developer Forms menu, but not from the browser....
Do Any one of u have the Idea whether Oracle Developer / Developer Server 6.0(Japanese version) support the access from Internet.
Ur help is most appreciated as I my project release work is held up with this problem for the past 2 weeks....

Hi Yang:
Yes, you will have to upgrade to at least 8.1.7 if you are using Sun or 9.0.1 if you are using HP.
In these versions of the database you will have the abilty to syncronize.

How to install Oracle Developer Suite 10g on Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have windows 7 (64-bit) installed on my laptop. I want to install Oracle developer suite 10g R2 on this machine but when I run the Oracle Universal Installer, it gives me error stating "operating system version: must be 5.0, 5.1, 5.2. Actual 6.1 Failed<<<<

Can anyone please help me to solve this problem.

Be aware that Developer Suite 10gR2 is not supported for use on Windows 7. Installing it on this platform may result in undesirable behavior.

1. I have a report built in oracle report. Currently there is a Visual Basic program want to pass some parameter to this report. Can Visual Basic program pass the parameter to this oracel report?
2. Based on yr answer, do i have to installed the oracle report? or just copy and register the Rwsxa60.ocx (i'm using oracle report 6i) in the PC? So can i use this activeX control.
3. Is this activeX control similar to Crystal report object which can found in VB?
4. Is there an example/guide on how the Visual Basic pass the parameter to oracel form?
