Menu option: Nike+iPod Settings Remote Link. Missing on 1st Gen Nano

Hi,
Really confused here.
In the Nike + iPod manual section, 'Using a Nike + iPod Remote' its stated i need to:
- Choose Nike+iPod > Settings > Remote > Link and follow the onscreen instructions.
I dont have 'Remote' option on the 'Settings' menu.
I'm on iTunes 7.7.0.43 (Vista) with Nano software 1.3.1
Trying to connect an Nike + Amp watch to the Nano.

I just took another look at this and figured out what i was doing wrong.
In the event someone else is acting as dumb as me:
- To get the Nike+iPod > Settings > Remote menu to appear on your iPod Nano. You need to be pressing Play / Pause on the Remote device, while the Nano is on the Nike+iPod > Settings menu. The Remote menu then auto-magically appears.
- Pressing Play / Pause on the Nano is not the thing to be doing to make the remote menu appear.
Yeah i feel dumb.
But in my defence the manual doesnt specify the Play / Pause button to be pushing; the one on the Nano or the Remote.
Happy running!

  • Apple logo and menu no longer come up when turning on my 2nd gen nano. However, if I just hit the right buttons the songs play and it runs normally. On occasion the logo and menu come on but it is now in chinese. Should I restore or Junk?

See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

  • Will a USB cord for iPod touch fit the 1st Gen Nano?

Hi, I am about to purchase a used 1st gen nano because the wireless fm transmitters are cheaper, and to be honest, I don't want to ride around with my 3rd gen Touch in my car all day. But it doesn't come with the USB cable, and I was wondering if I could use the same one for later my iPod touch?

Yes, since the creation of the dock connector, all dock connectors have been the same... They were originally available in FireWire, but that cable specification was discontinued before the iPod with video...any new iPods will not work with them, however, all iPods with a dock connector will work with the USB version of the cable...

  • Cover flow missing as a menu option on ipod classic

Any ideas - no idea why but I can no longer see cover flow as menu option on our ipod classic.  I have reset/updated software/ synced against playlist from other ipod which works but still no success.
The album art is on the ipod as I can see it when viewing individual albums!

actually, once you do a workout with the reciever attached, it will show up all the time, so that you can access your data....until it has data to report to you though, it doesn't show up, even when you turn it on in the menus....go for a run and it'll stay on the menu after that....

  • Nike  iPod = crash , cannot link sensor

    Hello everyone,
I just bought today my first Nike+ sensor so I can go out running with my iPod touch 4gen. The problem is....I DOES NOT WORK!
    I turned the in Settings>Nike+ iPod> ON .
This caused that the Nike+ iPod app was installed on my iPod. However when I try to run it, it crashes on startup.
Moreover I cannot link my iPod touch with sensor because the Sensor option in Settings>Nike+ iPod is Grayed out! As well as Remote option.
I tried everything and nothing happened. What is this? This is the best what Apple and Nike could do? Help me guys. There must be a lot of people using iPod touch with Nike sensor on iOS5. Or am I the only one?

My iPhone 5 would not work with the sensor.  The app would crash and the sensor option was greyed out and could not be selected.
Thanks to AnthonyFROMHK - I fixed this by downloading iExplorer, selecting Media and deleting the "device" folder under the "iTunes_control" folder.  Next, I turned off Nike+ipod from Settings then turned it back on.
The app now runs and the sensor can be paired.  Hope this helps someone.

  • Apple Nike + iPod Watch Remote discontinued...what gives?

I went to order an Apple Nike + WatchRemote for my new Nike + iPod Sport Kit today from the Apple Store only to find out that they've been discontinued. What's the story? Is a replacement forthcoming, or are we now SOL if we want to use a remote with our Nike + gear?

Awkward this, isn't it? I'm also sorely tempted by the WatchRemote, but I see that the UK version of the Nike website no longer has them available. Apple's UK website does have the grey ones still in stock, but Apple US appears to have removed them entirely.
I'm unsure whether to snap one up whilst they're still being sold by just a few places ... or to hold back in case an updated version is on its way!

  • My Nike  HRM is not working with my 7th gen Nano

I got the 7th Gen Nano a few weeks ago and so far I like it very much.  I had a Polar HRM and discovered that my existing HRM transmitter would not
work with the Nano.  I got the HRM transmitter that says it works with Nike+ and it's not working.  Any suggestions?

When I plug it in iTunes recognizes my iPod, syncs it, but then the iPod library is grey.
If the iPod's Music list is greyed out, that usually means the iPod uses automatic syncing.  You cannot change anything directly on the iPod, because you are not manually managing content.  You let iTunes manage the content, based on the settings on the iPod's Music settings screen.
Select the iPod in iTunes.  In iTunes 12, click the "device button" on the horizontal bar (its icon looks like the device).  The iPod's "management" screen comes up, showing the iPod's Summary settings view.  Is the box for Manually manage music checked or not checked?  If it's not checked, you are using automatic syncing.  In the iPod's sidebar, under Settings, click Music to show the iPod's Music settings screen and set up (or update) automatic syncing for songs.

  • Need info on 2 ipods on one computer...2nd gen nano and mini

We have one computer but 2 ipods...2nd gen nano and a mini.
I have a few questions about how to make sure the playlists are separate...just general information.
where can I find this information?
    Thanks,
    Cbaire

Not sure who penned this solution, but it definitely DOES NOT work. At least for me. I had an Ipod Nano on my account, then bought my wife one. When she initially tried to use it, it read my itunes, and wanted to burn all my songs onto her ipod. I read this and she already had a user account set up, but when you use (or try to use) the ipod under her account, it does nothing when plugged in. You cannot download a version of itunes either, as if there is any version of itunes recognized on the computer (anywhere), it will not allow a 2nd download, even if you want to store it elsewhere. Not sure why this is such an issue, as I am sure there are thousands of families out there with more than one ipod on a single computer. Seems pretty basic.

  • "Grouping" menu option in iPod firmware?

I don't know if any iTunes developers are active on these forums (should that be "fora", as in "criterium/criteria"?), but if they are, the addition of "Grouping" as an additional option under "Music" in the iPod firmware would be very useful too, as having it only in iTunes but not in the iPod rather limits its effectiveness.
    Many thanks,
    Martin Reed

    you can send feedback directly to Apple at the following (for iPod);
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipod.html
    and here for iTunes:

they are open to any/all ideas

  • Nike   iPod settings greyed out (can I fix without doing complete restore???)

I don't want to do a full restore, I've done soft reset, and restored from backup.

The thread title differs from the original post, sorry for the confusion.  I read password instead of passcode.
The only way past a passcode lock is by entering the passcode.  Refer to HT1212 iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen:
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup).
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.
As for timing out during the restore...
If there isn't any antivirus or firewalls in the way, I would try restoring from a different user account or even a different computer.  If still unable to restore without timing out, I would try a different network.

  • Help - My 5th Generation Ipod not recognised by ITunes but 1st Gen Ipod is!

Can anyone help? This is driving me mad!
I recently purchased a 5th Generation 80gb Ipod. Before installing to my PC I downloaded the latest 7.2 version of ITunes together with quicktime. However whenever I plug my new Ipod in, nothing happens other than the 'Found New Hardware Wizard' appearing in XP asking for the driver to be installed and the Ipod Charging/displaying that it is fully charged.
I have spent hours going through the apple site and following their suggestions on this and have done the following:
    Re-started the iPod service
Uninstalled and re-installed ITunes 7.2 (at least 5 times now!)
Deleted all my temporary folders and temp internet folders and cleared cookies, files, etc
Ran Windows Install Cleanup Utility to clean up any leftover installer files
Tried the Ipod in all of my USB 1 & 2 ports (My MESH PC is less than a year old)
I then contacted Apple Support who suggested I try my Ipod on another computer and if it didn't work to return it to them. So I duly installed iTunes (7.2) on my laptop at work and hey presto my Ipod was recognised and I was able to download a few tunes.
I glean from this that there can't be a fault with the Ipod itself??
Back at home I re- tried all of the things above and then after still no joy I connected my old 1st generation ipod to my pc and after some time ( at least 5 minutes) iTunes recognised the old ipod and syncronised. Using the same USB Port and the same cable I plugged in the new Ipod but still nothing happened other than being asked to install the driver once again!
Now all would be fine if I kept my music collection on my work laptop but unfortunately this is not possible and I could even get into serious trouble for having iTunes on there.
If anyone has any suggestions I would be really grateful as £200+ is a lot of money to pay for something that does not work!

The "driver" never was available from Apple. The driver files that Windows uses to communicate with an iPod are standard Windows OS drivers for a USB Mass Storage Device. If Windows cannot/does not recognize your iPod at all, not even at the driver level, it's likely an OS issue, unless the iPod fails to work on another computer as well. At that point you'd been dealing with a bad cable or bad iPod. Since another iPod works with the same cable, then it should be fine.
Try everything in this article that you haven't already tried:

  • Link to the 2nd Gen Nano Update?

Hello. I'm a new user to these forums, and a proud owner of the new 2nd Gen 2 GB iPod Nano since the day it shipped. Well, come time to update my new iPod, iTunes tells me it cannot connect to the internet. It doesn't even look. I click "Update" and instantly, it say iTunes cannot connect to the internet. But I am connected, or else I couldn't be posting this right now. :P My question is this: Is there a place on Apple's website that I can manually download the iPod Nano upgrade, instead of doing it in iTunes? And if so, where? I'm running Windows XP, if you need to know. Thank you.
    Windows XP Windows XP

I think that even if you do it from the website it will open up your itunes. You can try that and see if it works though.

  • Anyone heard of a Nike + iPod Remote?

I've just read the manual to the Nike + iPod kit, and i'm a little confused by this:
Using a Nike + iPod Remote
You can use a Nike+ compatible remote (sold separately) to control Nike + iPod
wirelessly while you work out. Before using a remote, you have to link the receiver to it.
    To link to a remote:
1 Connect the receiver to an iPod.
2 Choose Nike+iPod > Settings > Remote > Link and follow the onscreen instructions.
To turn remote functionality on or off:
Choose Nike+iPod > Settings > Remote and set Remote Commands to On or Off.
    To unlink a remote:
Choose Nike+iPod > Settings > Remote > Unlink and follow the onscreen instructions.
I can't find any remote, that is working with the Nike + iPod kit, can You?
