"Menu Photoshop file has changed outside..."

The first time I saw this message (a few months ago soon after I started using Encore) I blissfully clicked on 'Yes'. That really messed things up so each time since I have clicked on the non-default 'No'.
I was wondering why I should be getting this message? I have an old version of Photoshop on my machine but it's a Windows version (I'm using a Mac), only used inside VMWare Fusion and not too often at that. I've never used it to modify a menu as I'm perfectly happy with the templates that came with Encore and only changing the titles and text of those as appropriate. Is there something I should do to stop it appearing?
Many thanks in advance.

Thanks for the replies.
I didn't buy the complete suite. Premiere Pro is Version 5.5.2 and Encore is Version 5.1.0.342 both running on a Mac using Mac OS X Version 10.7.2. My Photoshop Elements is Version 6.0 (20070910.r.377499) running (sometimes, not often) under Windows XP with VMWare Fusion.
As far as I know nothing running under VMWare Fusion 'knows' that it's on a Mac and, provided VMWare Fusion is running then the contents of that Windows/DOS partition are invisible to the Mac. OK, I can handily drag files between the two 'machines' but never files associated with Encore/Photoshop.
I only touch the Encore files with Encore and I only use my version of Photoshop Elements for totally independent functions. In fact I use it rarely and never (as far as I can remember) at the same time as Encore is running. Could it be that my Mac Encore is looking for my old Windows Photoshop Elements and thinking, just because it exists somewhere on the same machine, that it is somehow interfering?
The dialog box above doesn't appear every time I use Encore but it would be great to not have it pop up (erroneously) like this rather than running the risk of hitting 'Yes' and losing all the title changes etc I've made to a template. Nobody else has seen it under these sorts of circumstances?

  • Large Photoshop file has caused system slow down.

I have Dual 2.0Ghz G5 which has worked very well since I got it last Spring. Just recently however I've had some slow downs. There are a number of things that I've noticed such as more frequent spinning beachball and font redraw issues.
These issued started since I was working one a massive Photoshop file. I was doing work on a Trade Show booth which eventually resulted in a 10Gb Photoshop file! I realized I probably should have taken steps to reduce the size of the file but that's neither here nor there. Despite the size of the file I was still quite impressed with the performance of my machine. That said, I've found the general performance of the machine since working on this file to be diminished.
I've done all of the typical maintenace items such as repairing disk and permissions via Disk Utility, clearing caches and running Maintenance scripts using Cache Out X, MacJanitor and Tiger Cache Cleaner, but still the performance of my machine has taken a hit.
It's only since this has happened that I've started launching Activity Monitor to try and determine if there is something obvious going on which is hogging resources or not. This for me has raised questions of what is "Normal" for some common tasks. Presently kernal_task is using under 5% of my CPU with 50 threads running which seems like a reasonable number. But it is also using almost 110Mb of RAM and 1.35Gb of Virtual Memory. Both of those numbers seem quite high to me, but I admit that I never looked at them before so I have no gage as to whether these numbers can be considered normal or not.
By all measures the machine still performs pretty good, but as I use this machine every day I know that it's not the same as it was prior to working on that large file. Is there something else related to Photoshop, temporary files, application caches or anything like that, that I should take a look at?
    Any input would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hi Troy,
First I would try using a separate HD for the scratch disk.As PS tries to read and write,it has to compete with the OS as it tries to hit its swop files. If Version Cue is on, turn it off.Get rid of any virus checking apps.Check your Ram.If you haven't allowed Tiger to run its cron scripts on a regular basis, and only do periodic maintenance, I would take the time to do an Archive and Install, or even wipe the HD,zero it and install tiger again. This I realize is a drastic measure, time
consuming, and a pain. But if your whole system is slowing down?? Or if you get a new drive set it up to be your primary drive first and test your system on it before moving any of your PS files over from the old HD.Use the old HD as scratch disk
Have you included the use of other utilies to check your HD? Drive Genius, Disk Warrior, TechTool Pro.No Norton utilities allowed.Hope this helps as there are a lot of places to look for the problem.

  • The database file has changed.

Everytime I open a report I get a dialog box saying "The database file "table name" has changed.  Proceeding to fix up the report!
What causes this and how can I stop it?

    I don't think so..
I can preview a report, it tells me it is fixing report then displays data.   I close the report and open and it asks again.
Would adding records to the table cause this?
I am new to Crystal, maybe the data is being stored with the report and it trys to refresh.
Has anyone seen links to this problem

  • I'm getting: Menu photoshop file changed outside of this application. Do you wish to reload...

I have been using CS for awhile, never seen this before. Started when using Win 8 intel i5 computer and CS 6 cloud membership. I have not changed any menus in photoshop or otherwise. I have started new projects and used new menus, different locations, nothing helps. Once before a friend installed a version of CS6 that happened not to be legit, I uninstalled and got the cloud subscription. The issue happened before and after.
    Thanks for your help.

Don't know what to say. The only other time I recall this error (which I had forgotten till it was the only thing google produced), it was not sorted out.
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4151944
I just tried to create it by blatantly changing a menu psd with encore open, closed etc. Could not produce the warning.
I am windows 7, CS6 (regular install, not cloud). I don't think any of that should matter.
It's odd enough that it would move an uninstall/reinstall higher on my list.

  • Color change in Mode in 1 file has changed every image systemwide--help!

    running cs3 on imac osx
making business cards, rgb  mode.  colors just right.   then the guy that does my printing tells me i have to give the file to him in cmyk.  so i changed to cmyk in Image>Mode, knowing that the colors would be different.  printed a version and ugh, hated it; much darker and more drab.  so, changed Mode back to rgb. But--OMG-- the color, when i printed it, had NOT changed back!  i opened another file--one that i had not messed with, which has never been anything but rgb.  and lo!  it too had changed colors to the dark and drab!
what in the world is going on?  please help
    thank you!

  • Name of Drive storing image files has changed

I'm sure there must be a simple answer to this - but it has me stumped.
My OS is Windows XP Pro.
All of the images files that I have imported into Lightroom are located on an external hard drive that was labeled the "G" drive when I first installed it.
Now I have plugged in a Lexar Media thumb drive and that has usurped the "G" dive label and reassigned an "H" label to my external hard drive where all the image files were imported from.
So... now all my folders, key words, catalogs, etc, etc. are no longer showing up when I open Lightroom.
How do I reconnect with all the work I have done. I have tried to figure out how to undo the drive name change, but to no avail so far.
Can anyone point me in the right direction.
    Thanks....Randy

Use disk manager. If you right click on My computer and select manage it <br />will take you there. First step, with the Lexar drive connected, right click <br />on it in disk manager and change it's letter to something else.<br /><br />Then remove it connect, the external drive and change it to the letter you <br />want.<br /><br />You may have to reboot between steps one and two.<br /><br /><br /><br /><[email protected]> wrote in message <br />news:[email protected]..<br />> I'm sure there must be a simple answer to this - but it has me stumped.<br />><br />> My OS is Windows XP Pro.<br />><br />> All of the images files that I have imported into Lightroom are located on <br />> an external hard drive that was labeled the "G" drive when I first <br />> installed it.<br />><br />> Now I have plugged in a Lexar Media thumb drive and that has usurped the <br />> "G" dive label and reassigned an "H" label to my external hard drive where <br />> all the image files were imported from.<br />><br />> So... now all my folders, key words, catalogs, etc, etc. are no longer <br />> showing up when I open Lightroom.<br />><br />> How do I reconnect with all the work I have done. • Repair permissions error.  SUID file has changed and will not be repaired?

I repaired permissions tonight and I get the error message quoted below.
I don't understand the warning around the SUID file. I don't know if I should be concerned about this or what this file does. Any information or advice?
    Thanks.
    Repairing permissions for “Macintosh HD”
    Reading permissions database.
Reading the permissions database can take several minutes.
    Permissions differ on "System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.usbmuxd.plist", should be -rw-r--r-- , they are -rwxr-xr-x .
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/Resources/OwnerGroupTool" has been modified and will not be repaired.
Group differs on "private/etc/cups", should be 0, group is 26.
    Permissions differ on "private/var/spool/cups/cache/rss", should be drwxr-xr-x , they are drwxrwxr-x .
    Permissions repair complete

Im just glad to see others have the exact same permission changes, which as the other replied stated, makes me not worry about it.
I just don't like Apple changing permissions so they can "read" anything on my computer they want - when Im on iTunes for instance.

  • Photoshop CS6 has changed to Photoshop CS6 Extended. Why?

I have had to reload my original software, a registered upgrade of Photoshop CS5 to Photoshop CS6 and then using software update and updating what was downloaded. When I did this all was well for a little while, a few days, then I got a message that I needed to sign in and I did this wondering why I had to do it, and suddenly I realised my Potoshop CS6 is now Photoshop CS6 Extended. What's happened? I was also informed that I was using a trial version of this and now I cannot get rid of it. Do you need Serial No.? Please advise.

    Good day!
I was also informed that I was using a trial version of this and now I cannot get rid of it.
The trial is Extended, so you seem to be working in trial mode.
It seems several people have the same or similar issues, check out

  • Change in inspect element file has changed things and I don't know how to make it go back to normal

In Inspect Element I must have clicked on something because now I have little rectangular boxes with numbers and letters in them instead of icons. How do I fix this? When I close the window it does not go back to default setting.

If the little boxes look have two rows, each with two characters, that usually indicates that a downloadable font is blocked, and Firefox wasn't able to find the corresponding characters in a local font on your computer.
Changes made in the Inspector should be temporary, so try reloading the page. You can bypass the cache using Ctrl+Shift+r on Windows or Command+Shift+r on Mac.
If the problem continues, you might have blocked the source of that font. It would be helpful to back into the Inspector and look at one of those missing font characters and see if the needed font is listed there along with the site it is hosted on.

  • Finding out that an open file has changed

Hi. I'm working on a java app to monitor a log file. Unfortunately, when the log file rotation occurs (by moving the file to "log.1" and creating a new "log") I can't figure out how to determine that from my app; the code just goes it's merry way. When the file is renamed, the open file in the java app continues to have access to the original file (under the new name) and if I add lines to the "log.1" file, the java app continues to read them.
This is on JDK 1.4.0 for Linux, and I'm using a RandomAccessFile object.
Any ideas? Other than (wastefully) opening a new File everytime through the monitor loop I can't think of a clean solution.

  • How to repair a corrupt photoshop file?

My photoshop file has corrupted. I'm currently using CS6 and regularly saved my file but when I saved it for the last time last night it must have gone horribly wrong. it's now not even recognised as a .psd file it's just 'file' under properties. It's for a uni project due very soon, so any help would be much appreciated~!
    Cheers!

Thank you for sharing such information, actually I also encountered this kind of problem. But, while searching on internet, I came across Remo repair software which can fix corrupt Photoshop file at your fingertips.

  • Trying to edit on Encores provided Menu templates. Error message PhotoShop File-1 and Sorry, Abnormal Condition has been Detected

I've had Encore CS5 for 1 1/2 years and have only used it twice. This third time, I started getting an error message when I try to edit on one of the menu templates provided by Encore. First message is PhotoShop File-1 and then "Sorry, Abnormal Condition has been detected. You have one chance to save your work (use a different file name to save it under)
I don't own PhotoShop and have only JUST NOW installed an elements version. I use a MAC with OS X 10.9.5. I have never had a virus or any other issues using Adobe products, including my Premiere CS5. Even when I bring in my own menu artwork, I still receive the same error messages. I tried updating Encore. I am at a loss.@

One of the first issues we saw here with Mavericks. Appeared to be more of an issue with Encore 5.0 and 5.1 than 6. But I believed users found a way to fix this. We did not get enough reports back.

  • This file does not appear to be a Photoshop file - Menu won't import

I was searching on the forums and found that some other people have had this problem, but I didn't see any solutions.
When I try to build my DVD from Encore, I get this error "This fiel does not appear to be a Photoshop file.
I created my menu in Photoshop CS4, imported it as a menu.  When I preview in Encore it works fine?
The photoshop file is 8 bit color...should it be 16?  I tried that to, but it doesn't seem to change anything?
    Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

The 2 bit image object that shows up to the right of the buttons on the highlighted state still was a little too crisp, but
I'm going to try a little vertical blur like you said to see what happens.
Well, the Vertical Blur will not work there. The Sub-picture Highlights cannot have any Styles, or Filters added to them. What I do to "simulate" a "glow" is to to create a second Sub-picture Highligh, in the next Layer down (in the same Button Layer Set)t, ever so slightly larger. I then set it's Transparency in Encore to be about 50%-30% of what the "original" Sub-picture Highlight's Transparency was. You can also assign another number from the Menu Color Set (this is done in PS), and then adjust that number's value in Encore to be a shade lighter of the original Sub-picture Highlight's. You will end up with maybe a 2 and a 3, and need to pick those colors from a Custom Color Set in Encore - cannot be done in PS, at least through CS3 and I do not believe in CS4 either. That might bear checking out, with someone like Jeff Bellune, or Jbowden. See this LINK for some tips, and this one for the full ARTICLE. The link to the version posted on Adobe has been lost, with the changeover in the forum. You can post and read at Muvipix.com, without a subscription, or even the free signup. Because of the wealth of Functional Content, stock music and Menus, etc., you might want to spend a bit of time poking around there.
Though most of the article and discussion revolve around removing part of the Sub-picture Highlight, the final steps are for adding what appears to be a Blur. Remember, you only have ON, OFF, COLOR (limited to 4, including the background) and TRANSPARENCY, for each pixel in a Sub-picture Highlight. That's why you cannot have Styles, or similar. You have to create the illusion.
Also, I created my lower third in Photoshop and saved out a .PNG file to import into Premiere.
When I play the DVD, there seems to be some noise in the title.  Do you think that's because of how
I saved the video out or because I used a .PNG?
I do not know. I have never used the PNG format. Instead, I create all of my Titles (the ones that I do outside of Titler) in PS, often using AI for shapes, that will be Rasterized in the process. I do my Titles there, and then Save_As .PSD. If I wish to animate some of the Layers, I'll Import as a Sequence, if not, I Import as Footage. I always start from the image Preset to match my Project, so frame size and PAR are right to begin with. The only reason that I can think of for using PNG is the Transparency, but PSD offers that, and so much more.
There is much that one can do with the animation of PSD Layers in PrPro. It's not as powerful, or as full-featured, as is AE, but many are surprised at how good it is.
Best news is that you are almost there, and that things looked good on the DVD. If you have any trouble following the steps for the simulated Glow in the second Sub-picture Highlight, just let me know. It's been a whle, since I wrote that, and might need to re-visit it myself.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
