Menu Resolution Issues

I've been working on this DVD Menu forever for our first feature film, DVD's have to go into produciton today so Ive been working on getting the master DVD out to our duplicator. Can someone help me with my menu resolution issues I am having?
I've sent my menu from photoshop with interactive buttons, both the buttons and the text look great on my preview file, but after burning to dvd the menu looks low res and muddy. is there something I'm doing wrong?

is there something I'm doing wrong?
It would help if we knew the various settings. What are the project default transcode settings? That is what is used for menus. Motion menus? What is the pixel size and par of the menus.
Button highlights by the DVD spec only allow 2 bit indexed color. Adding effects does not work.
You might post a screenshot from photoshop with the layers twirled open.

  • Aspect ratio and menu resolution issues

I've just come across an issue with resolution and picture aspect.  I've maneged to kick all of my STBs except 1 into this **bleep**ty behavior.  It started when I just hooked up our main living room set to the box after moving.  No matter what I did the picture was being displayed as a 16:9 letterboxed 4:3.  Meaning, the 16:9 HD picture is being displayed in a 4:3 box with black bars top and bottom, and then that 4:3 has grey bars on both sides. I've tried all varieties of output resolution on the STB and picture size on the TV to no avail.  Finally after swapping through settings for 30min it came back to displaying 16:9 HD as full screen.  But now the remaining issue is that all menu screens are sort of fuzzy resolution.  I went to check one of my other sets to make sure this wasn't normal and the menu screens are very sharp.  Unfortunately I checked the resolution output and played with it just to see what happens and kicked this STB into the same fuzzy menu behavior and an odd new display - it is stretching AND letterboxing 16:9. So the aspect of the picture is something like 22:9 with black bars top and bottom.  No matter what I do I can't fix it.  The one remaining STB that I haven't dared to tinker with is the media server because the menu is crystal clear anddf the picture display is correct.
I haven't called tech support yet but did use the troubleshooting tools to reset the box to no avail.

Go to Menu => Settings=> Audio & Video=> Video Settings
Video Format should be 1080i 16:9
    SD Override set to stretch
    TV Type 16:9
    Graphics Settings set to HD
Video Sharpness set to default or higher depending on your preference
Once that is complete you might still need to adjust your TVs settings.

  • Menu selection issues in Flash CS4 for Mac

I'm having a few menu selection issues in Flash. It seems some fields are de-selecting automatically (and quickly). For instance:
    1) When I double-click a layer to change it's name, it highlights then immediately de-selects. I can only rename by right-clicking and bringing up the Properties dialog.
    2) Fields highlight briefly then immediately de-select in the Properties menu when using the Tab button to advance or cycle thru fields. I have to click on each field individually to enter dimensions/characters.
    Possibly related...
On occasion, I'm having an issue in Photoshop where the tools are off by 30 pixels or so. Examples:
    - Paint brush affects an area approximately 30px to the right and down from the brush head.
    - Selection tool selects an area approximately 30px to the right and down from the arrow head.
This only happens on occasion and can be fixed by restarting Photoshop. I have not had any luck fixing the problems experienced within Flash.
I'm experiencing this on two different machines that have CS4 installed. My only guess is a conflict with a Logitech driver OR a Wacom driver, but I have uninstalled the software and unplugged the Logitech mouse and Wacom tablet to no avail.
Long time Flash/Photoshop user.... never had a problem like this.
Anyone else have these issues or know a fix?

    Hi there,
This is a known issue, however we have not been able to reproduce it internally. The way to fix it (assuming it's the same problem) is to change your workspace (such as resetting to a default shipping layout, and then modifying from there), as it seems as though something about the workspace is causing the problem. It could be very specific to where its layed out on your monitor(s), some exact pixel size of a panel and/or grouping - and so on. However, we haven't been able to reproduce this internally yet - only reproed and fixed similar problems - so I cannot say for sure, however changing the workspace has fixed it for the other users I've talked to seeing this one.
If you are able to share the following about one or both of your computers and send it to jdh (at) adobe, greatly appreciated:
    * workspace XML file from the Configuration directory (before changing the workspace!)
    * description monitor layout (ie: primary on left, secondary on right... or "one" )
    * monitor resolution(s)
    * screenshot(s) of your layout exhibiting the problem
    Thanks!

  • Serious resolution issues with After Effects CC (2014) on Windows 8.1 Pro on Dell Precision M3800 laptop??

My new company installed Adobe Creative Cloud (There was some annoying Proxy issues at first, because of the seriously tight I.T policies) but we are having some serious resolution issues with After Effects CC 2014 (also have this resolution problem with Adobe Premiere, Media Encoder, Muse) on Windows 8.1 Pro on a Dell Precision M3800 laptop with icons and interface looking too small and hard to see, is there a fix, an update or a work around, can anyone help?
    Any help will be appreciated!
    k.regards
    Ramon

Hi Todd is there a time-frame for this fix, there is a lot of pressure on me, because I convinced my company to get the Creative Cloud and quite a lot of the CC software is not compatible with the latest Windows 8.1 OS.
Is there at least a work around, until this big fix comes along?

  • OS X 10.8.3 Display Resolution Issue

Ever since updating to 10.8.3, there has been a sporatic resolution issue when waking my MBP. My mid 2009 13" MBP operates in closed lid mode while connected to a 21.5" monitor. My machine frequently wakes to a completely incorrect resolution that is many times the size of my display. It fixes to the correct resolution if I simply sleep and wake again, or correct it via System Preferences, but having to do this several times becomes quite annoying. Anyone else experiencing this bug and/or have any ideas on its resolution?

  • Macbook Pro 15" Retina Windows 7 HDMI Resolution issue

    Hello,
I have a late 2013 Macbook Pro 15" with Retina display running bootcamp with Windows 7.
I have connected the Macbook to an external HP w2448hc display using HDMI interface.
When booting to OS X 10.9.4, the resolution of the external display is set to 1920x1200 and it looks fine. See picture below:
However, when booting to Windows 7 the resolution on the external display looks lower (although shows up as 1920x1200):
I have another PC which I have connected to the same display with HDMI and the resolution also shows up as 1920x1200. However, in this case the resolution indeed looks as the correct one:
Although not seen very well from the screen shots, both the PC and the Macbook Pro (with Windows 7) show the same resolution in the settings, but the desktop and icons under Macbook Pro (bootcamp) look bigger and with smaller resolution.
Does anyone know how to solve this?

    Hi,
I managed to fix this resolution issue by lowering the color depth to 16bit for the external display. Not exactly sure why was this necessary, maybe for some reason Windows cannot allocate enough video memory for both displays?

  • Why can't I use the function of menu item 'issue delivery output'?

why can't I use the function of menu item 'issue delivery output' in main screen of delivery note?
And at the same time I can't use the button of printing in main screen of delivery note.
the main screen of delivery note I mean above is in screen of maintaining shipping data instand of the first screen of VL02N.
    TKS in advance.

    Hi,
Because delivery will be having header level output and item level output. So if u try to print through main screen then system will not know whether it is header related or item related. That is the reason it is only print output at header level or item level but not in main screen.
I think u may have doubt like how billin will be issued output through Main screen. Because for billing both header and item level data are same..

  • 2048x1280 Resolution Issues in 30" Display?

    G'day,
I've just upgraded to Acrobat 9.2 this arvo and I immediately noticed that a PDF created as screen resolution displays in a very poor quality. Yes, it's a low res PDF, but everything within the PDF displays very badly. Have I maybe missed something that has changed in Preferences or is it something else?
I am concerned as all work is sent to clients via a PDF for approval etc. and that they might feel that my artwork is of inferior quality due to the way PDFs now seem to display under Acrobat 9.2
Thanks in advance for any comments or help.
Go to Preference and to Page Display:
Check the part about the resolution and see if it matches the resolution of your display.
The the resolution of which you view a PDF on screen doesn't necessarily have to do with how it looks when printed. I just updated 9.2 and open a PDF and I didn't see any problems on my machine.

  • OS X Mavericks: display randomly turning white/brown/grey [no resolution issues]

    Hey folks,
I discovered a very strange problem the last few days while using the internal and an external VGA Monitor on my Macbook Pro (mid 2010, 8GB).
I'm running on OS X Mavericks with the latest updates and the system runs pretty smooth.
What I discovered is as follows:
Using any VGA monitor that I own, sometimes both (internal and external) display turn white (or grey or brown, just displaying a solid colored screen). This occurs with literally every display I used externally and doesn't occur while just using the Macbook Pro without an external display. This didn't happen before on Mountain Lion, neither did it happen the first weeks on Mavericks (I've been using it since it's released). After this happening, I have to do a forced reboot. This issue does occur randomly within the daily usage.
Furthermore, I don't have any resolution issues as many user claimed about this already while running OS X Mavericks.
From looking at the system I can tell that the RAM is not damaged (also because this doesn't happen while using the MB without external display). I also tried other RAM, issue remains reproducible.
I haven't found any solution on the internet, so I decided to post my problem here.
Hope there is anybody out there who might be able to help me out.
    Yours sincerely

  • Apple tv3 resolution issues

I've been having resolution issues with my apple tv3. I recently updated the software and now the quality is nowhere near what is was last week. Originally I thought it was just Netflix but after trying the other channels like Skynews and PBS I've dicovered that it's the AppleTv. I reset the resolution to 1080p under
settings. I'm finding that I when I start a video I get the hd for the first few seconds then the quality goes to crap.I checked my internet speed and clocked it at
    25 mbps.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's not ATV, the network connection.  Bandwidth download tests are not useful for this since it only tests for a brief time span, does not test the path from your ATV to the content provider.  It is also possible that your ISP is throttling streaming video or content from specific services.  I am guessing you are using WiFi?  I would try using a wired connection for a while as a test to see if that resolves it.  Streaming video rarely works well or reliably over WiFi.

  • How do you improve menu resolution?

I'm using a high quality .png for my menu. Looks great, but after DVD burning, the menu looks low res and washed out, especially on a comp, and seems to kind of vibrate if you look closely. Looks terrible. Is there a setting where you can adjust the menu resolution to the highest quality? Or is there perhaps a method of using overlays to improve the quality? What am I doing wrong?

The size of the file is 6.3MB.
It is the pixel resolution. If you are using CS2 (do not recall if it is also in CS) there are the proper templates for NTSC-DV etc with aspect ratios. Otherwise you will need to set up a 720 x 534 template then rescale to 720 x 480 without constraining proportions (this is NTSC 4:3) The user manual suggests (for NTSC 16:9) 864 x 480 resized (without constraining proportions) to 720 x 480)

  • Mac mini and Sony tv resolution issue

    Hello,
I have recently purchased a Mac mini for the purposes of hooking it up to my 51" Sony Wega HDTV. I took the mini out and connected the DVI adaptor that came in box and then hooked the mini to the tv via HDMI cable thinking this was the best possible connection for my mini. I have an issue where the screen is over flowing off the TV screen. I looked in system preference and have very limited resolution options but 1080i was selected and also over scan was checked. If I deselect overscan I get borders which I don't want. My tv doesn't have many options so how can I calibrate these two to work togethor?

I just discovered this is not a TV issue at all...
Uh, yes it is. Overscan is a condition unique to TVs. Computer monitors don't do it (overscan) hence there is normally no need for the kind of graphics card driver you are talking about, e.g. one that has precise control of video borders.
Many TVs on the market today have a method for defeating overscan, tucked away somewhere in their menu system, in order to allow the TV to be used just like a computer monitor. That is always the preferred solution when it is available because it will make the best possible image on the TV.
Your TV is a rear projection TV. Such TVs are not well suited for use as computer monitors because overscan is naturally baked into the optics architecture, meaning the manufacturer deliberately sets the mirror and lens system in such a way as to cause the native resolution (1280 x 720 in the case of your TV) to extend beyond the edges of the projection screen. Therefore it is impossible to get the native resolution of the projector's engine to display fully and perfectly on the screen. Only scaled or bordered version of it can ever be displayed. It's all fixed at the factory and there's no getting around the fact.
For the original G4 Mac mini that had ATI Graphics, there was a driver like the one you found for your father's Windows computer that allowed video borders to be set independent of resolution. But apart from that early effort on the part of ATI, I have not seen anything like that since for minis that have graphics based on Intel or nVidia hardware. I think you are going to be stuck with the dark video borders as a necessary limitation of the TV you own in the absence of any driver to counteract that limitation.
I believe the media center front end app called Plex has a facility for setting video borders, but I've never used it personally since I am able to turn overscan off on my TV. So I can't vouch for how well it works. And in any case, since it is bound to the app, it will only be active when Plex is running and not when, say for example, the Finder is in use, which is when you most need it.

  • Civilization IV resolution issue

    Hi all,
I just managed to install Civ 4 Complete edition with PlayOnLinux, which uses Wine 1.4.1 and everything works great except for the game's resolution. I can't seem to find any 16:9 resolution in the options menu, except for my native resolution (1920x1080). I'm using an old GPU (Nvidia 8600GT) and can't run the game at full resolution smoothly, so I want it to run at 720p. Right now, I'm using 1280x800 which I believe is 16:10 and it crops the left and right sides of my screen, so at least it's not getting stretched! I tried editing the _Civ4Config.lnk file to force the game to use 720p, but it didn't work. I'm using the proprietary nvidia-340xx legacy drivers. Also, my desktop doesn't go back to its original resolution after closing the game and I have to manually change it. The Wine FAQ page seems to show only a work around for this and not a solution. I'd like to solve both of these issues, if it's possible!

I am not sure about this, but maybe you edited the wrong file.
You need to edit an *.ini file not a *.lnk file. In Windows, the lnk file will probably link to the correct ini file, but I doubt that will work in Linux. Unfortunately, I cannot tell you where to find the correct ini file.
    Good luck.

  • Macbook pro and two HP 25xi monitors resolution issues

I have a Macbook Pro with Retina display purchased in 2014. I connected two HP Pavilion 25xi monitors and was having major issues where the second monitor would always be blurry and the resolution would not fit the screen so basically you could not see the border of the screen including the menu bar, sides, etc.
After troubleshooting and looking at blogs, I tried to investigate from the Monitor itself and did the following:
HP Monitor Menu > Image Control > Overscan > Turned it OFF
    ISSUE RESOLVED!!!!

    Top of the Line?
Meaning which one? I seem to recall reading somewhere it's got something to do with the RAM on the GPU???
