Menu text from Photoshop .psd bitmapped on DVD

Hi,
I have edited some footage from DV tape in PP CC, exported sequences and then authored the DVD in Encore with Photoshop .psd files with text layers for menus.
PP CC Sequence settings: 720x576 25fps D1/DV PAL
Export Settings: Format: MPEG2-DVD Preset: PAL DV Wide Progressive
The problem I am having is on final DVD the text on the menus appears very bitmapped, I have left the text menus as text in the psd so should I rasterise it? I have done a test with some menus and tested through encore and it appears not to be any better although I don't have the facility to test on and actual DVD player in my current location.
Whilst creating the sequences can I up res the footage in Media Encoder to 1920x1080 and set my menus in encore to that but would this mean I would have to write a Bluray rather than a DVD?
This footage is 14 years old and I want to get the best from it, my knowledge is limited so any advice would be much appreciated.
Many thanks
Martin
PS Any ideas why Adobe are not developing Encore any more and can anybody suggest any alternatives?

If you are using more than 72 DPI, or the wrong size, in your template in Photoshop, DVD SP scales it for you, which is something you do not want to happen. 55 Point type should look pretty good (sans-serif better than serif.)
You should start with a template from Photoshop (PAL it would sound like).
In CS2 you do not need to scale it because it sets it up up if you are not using the non-square pixel aspect ratio (the 720 x 576 template). If you are setting up otherwise the starting size is 768 x 576 and it should be rescaled to 720 x 576 without constraining proportions (Page 85 PDF)

  • Photoshop touch can I edit the text from a psd file with that app ....

Can photoshop touch edit the text from a psd file from my iMac on my ipad with that app ....

I don't think you can because a Photoshop file (PSD) with layers will be flattened when you open up in Photoshop Touch.
I prepared a Photoshop file with one layer of image, one layer of text over a background using Photoshop CS6 on my Mac Pro and upload the PSD file onto Creative Cloud. I then open this file in Photoshop Touch (on iPad) but it comes out as a single flat layer merging all three layers. Hope this helps.

  • Copying text from Photoshop to InDesign

    Dear InDesign Community,
I am working on updating a 60 page .pdf which was is extremelly blurry and unsearchable because each page was individually created in Photoshop (CS6) at size 8.5x11 and then put into a 6x7 sized document via Microsoft Publisher ( I weep as I write this sentene). I am currently rebuilding the file in InDesign and I was wondering if there was any way to copy and paste the formatted text from Photoshop cs6 to Indesign cs6 without losing the formatting. The end product is supposed to be a good quality pdf for web that is also a searchable document. Please advise.

No, sort of. If you can live with the text EXACTLY as it is in
Photoshop, kill all the layer except the text and save as PDF from
Photoshop. Place the PDF in InDesign and it will retain its vector
properties and formatting. You will not be able to edit anything.

I've got a pict file from photoshop with some text
But when i import it in DVDSP3 the text becomes something like muddy.
I've looked here on the forum, and i've tried or done:
    - layers are rasterd
    - tried all the anti-aliasing options
    - tried to blur it
    - tried to flatten the image
    My font size is 55.
The Font shows perfectly on the tv on the avid computers we have here.
The Dvd is for a tv serie, and the font is fine in the program it selfe..
hope that someone can help me, all the answerd i found on the forum where quite old, maybe someone has discoverd something new

  • Text from Photoshop to Indesign

Hello everyone! I'm new to InDesign
I'm working on a DVD cover, wich eventually is sent to print.
I work with the images in Photoshop and the text in InDesign (placing the PSD file into InDesign). So far, so good.
But, now I have this special title treatment wich includes layer styles made in Photoshop.
So the question is - how do I import this to Indesign as vector or simply, what is the best solution here?
    Thanks in advance

There are two ways: keep the text in Photoshop or highlight the text (with the type tool) copy, then paste into InDesign. Formatting and effects will need to be recreated. If you go this way, I suggest changing the opacity of the type layer in Photoshop and using that as a template to reformat the type and effects in InDesign. Unfortunately the formats of type and effects are incompatible. The programs are very different and handle data in very different ways. While anything is possible through programming, all resources are limited and Adobe has (wisely) not devoted their programming resources to this.
If all you want is to retain the vector format of the type, then save your Photoshop file as Photoshop PDF instead of PSD. All Photoshop features are supported and the file will remain fully editable in Photoshop, but type will come through as vectors, if it can (live filters will force rasterization, but most effects will not).

  • I can't past in any text from Photoshop to Premiere, RTL or LTR Latin, Hebrew or Arabic text to Premiere Pro cc 2014. It works only between Photoshop 2014 - AE 2014.

Any one suffering from the same issue?
I use to write text RTL(right to left) written languages like Arabic and Hebrew in Photoshop, where after copy and paste the text in Premiere to get the job done. With the latest version of Adobe cc 2014 I can't copy and past any text in to Premiere from Photoshop any more, not even text written in latin. Any one has the same problem or work around this issue possibly. It still works fine to copy/paste arabic text written on Photoshop in to After Effects, but Premiere pro 2014 when you paste any text.
I'm sure this forum works as feedback for Adobe in general and my question is:
    - Does adobe have any intention in the future to implement RTL text writing in Adobe CC or not? Could any one please answer this question from ADOBE?
As media consultant I can only recommend for my clients using RTL to use Apple FCP X which has built in RTL support and a new way of editing and greater workflow.

Please check this blog post. Updating from Time Machine can cause this issue: Premiere Pro CC, CC 2014, or 2014.1 freezing on startup or crashing while working (Mac OS X 10.9, and later).

  • Dragging text from Photoshop into iweb

Any text I drag from photoshop on to a iweb page is very rough around it's edges and is noisy. Please help.

Try making it larger than you need it in Photoshop, and then resize it in iWeb. This will make it a clearer image.

  • Text from Photoshop to iWeb looks terrible

    Hi
I am creating a website in iWeb and want to use a non web-safe font. I thought I could create the text in Photoshop and then drag it into iWeb as an image. I have Photoshop PS4 and am simply dragging and dropping the text from PS to iWeb. No matter what I do, the text looks terrible in iWeb. I've tried a couple of different things - rasterizing, anti-alias - but it doesn't seem to work. I don't know if this is a problem with iWeb or Photoshop. Anyone have any advice?
    Thanks!
    Melody

don't know if this is a problem with iWeb or Photoshop.
    Neither.
Save the image as a tiff, png or eps file.
Then drag that image on the iWeb canvas.

  • How to add edited text from photoshop to dreamweaver

I edited text in photoshop to make it look nice and sparkly. I am trying to put it in a flash site but do not understand how. the context file only allows you to choose the color and type of font but nothing more such as drop shadows and such. when i go to edit the context code for the flash site what would the code for edited text in photoshop look like in dreamweaver context editor?

I am not sure I understand? There is no Photoshop code?
You would take the image you created in Photoshop and place it into your Dreamweaver document. Correct me if I don't understand what you are trying to do.

  • Overlay text from Photoshop CS3

I am using a menu for DVD SP, the menu is made from PS. It has many layers, I am making a overlay file from the "Play" "Speacial Features" 'Chapters" buttons. I deleted all layers except the text for the overlay. Basic Myriad Bold white text...
My questions is why does my overlay file look so ragged. I have a alpha channel, I have white text over black.
I got then overlay to work but it is ragged, not sharp.

    Hi
In your overlay the shapes/text to highlight must be black over a white backround. I allways flatten my PS artwork and save it as PICT file for use as overlay in DVDSP.
Beside that, because the antialias in your shapes/texts you must play with the advanced colors setting in your menu, setting something like this:
That will give you less ragged edges in your highlighted elements.
    Hope that helps !

  • Extract text from photoshop?

designing newsletters for online. i come from print world so i created in indd, then had to laboriously re-create as layers in photoshop. the dept that's coding all the html has requested a layered pshop file and a text file of all the text in the document. i have over a dozen text layers in this, is there an easier way than copy + paste to do this? it doesn't strike me as very efficient, what if i forget a layer, what if i don't fully highlight all the the text before i copy it etc. is this how everyone works?
    thanks!
    moo

I think they just want the text... they will 'style' the text to match your previous visual using something called CSS (programming). If the words have not been changed since your InDesign file you could export a simple text (.txt) file from InDesign for them. It's all they need for the text. (Beside the visual of how it's supposed to be styled, which I'm presuming you've already sent them).
As for the 'layered' photoshop file... turn off the text layers, all of them... and send them a jpeg of that (no text). They may want you to cut it up (slice it) but without seeing it I cannot be of more help - best to liaise with them on how they want it cutting up (if they want it cutting up).

  • Uploading text from Photoshop to Dreamweaver

I subscribed to a template website where you download a template and they give you psd files, an html file, and image files.  The idea is that you change the psd's within Photoshop to display the information you want.  Then you slice the page and save it for web and devices.  At first I did this and everything was fine; the website was live and all of the slices looked great.  Then I realized my entire website was made up of images and that search engines would have troulbe reading my content.  As a solution, I realized I needed to make the content part of my psd invisible (the text of the site) and save out only the parts I wanted as images.
Here is where I am at now.  How do I get the text parts that I created in Photoshop to be in Dreamweaver and look the same.  I feel like I shouldn't have to re-write and/or reposition the content.  Is there a way I can save out those parts and load them into Dreamweaver as text peices similar to how I did with the images?  Or do I have to create div's or tables to insert text?
I haven't been able to find answers to this and the template website support is terrible.  I would GREATLY appreciate any thoughts.
    Thanks!

  • Printing high quality rasterized text from Photoshop CS5.1 to InDesign CS5.5

I’m planning on using Photoshop CS5.1 to modify preexisting music notation fonts (MusiSync and StaffClefPitchesEasy) for my own purposes. With that said, in order to make my modifications I have to rasterize the font. Once I’ve completed my alterations I plan to then place my new images into InDesign CS5.5 at the same image/ canvas size as I had created them in Photoshop. My question is: At what ppi should I create my Photoshop documents and what file type should I ‘save as’ to place in InDesign, so that my end result using InDesign, when printed buy a professional printing house, will look crisp and clean with no jagged edges, blur or pixilation? Also, I am using a mac running 10.5.8 and my Photoshop and ID documents are in greyscale. Thanks for your help.

Most of the musical notation fonts I have had to deal with are pretty restrictive as regards modifying fonts. Check with the source of the fonts.
Fontlab is the best. For easy changes, TypeTool (same company) might be OK. Least expensive but works great is Type 3.2 from CR8.
TypeTool (and Fontlab) will allow a better workflow between Illustrator and it because it can read the Adobe clipboard and so:
Open a particular character in TypeTool
Use the pointer tool to drag around all the nodes
    Copy (ctrl+c)
    Paste into Illustrator
    Alter the character
    Copy character in Illustrator
Delete the old character in Type Tool
Paste the new character from Illustrator.
Position the new character if needed (usually is)
Generate the new OTF or TT
    Unload the present font
    Load the new font
Pretty much that's it (off the top of my head, anyway).
    Take care, Mike
