MenuBuilder

We have published a Captivate course on our LMS and have
successfully sent AICC transactions. When we create a menu file
using MenuBuilder, the AICC transactions are no longer sent. We
have the same problem if we introduce an independent html file that
references the htm created from Captivate. The presence of an
additional level in the LMS seems to shut down the AICC
transactions. Any ideas?

Hi ware_w and welcome to our community
As you have seen, this is because of the additional level.
Mind you, I'm no LMS expert, but I believe that unless the LMS
presents the course to the user, no conversation ensues between
whatever you launch from MenuBuilder and the LMS.
The only idea I would have to offer up is to only have the
LMS deliver the Captivate content. Use the LMS as you are using
MenuBuilder.

  • Menubuilder- Open in Same Window?

I have the advanced link setting for my links as "Open in
same window." The links continue to open in new windows. Is this
feature not desinged to launch the files in the same window as the
    menu. Please help. Thanks.

    Hi MissDona
I'm going to say "it depends". Normally, this is the default
behavior. But it likely will depend on the output type you are
creating. For example (and I'm somewhat assuming you fall into this
category) if you create .EXE output from MenuBuilder, a new
instance or window always opens, as MenuBuilder packages up the
Flash Player inside the .EXE. Thus, this version of the player runs
from a temporary location and has no clue about other movies and
    whatnot.

  • How can I link more HTML files to one menubuilder file

    Hi,
I have the following problem which hopefully one of you can
    help me solve.
With menubuilder I just made a menu to run on a stand alone
CD. This menu contains links to 5 individual training modules that
    are movies in HTML format.
After some searching in this forum I found out that I should
use the save file with project option to keep the links when moving
the entire project to a separate CD.
No my problem. To make this CD work I need to copy all files
into the main directory. But each individual training modules has,
except from the title, the same under laying files. Copying them to
one main directory overwrite all and leaves me with one module that
is started from 5 different links.
Hopefully I explained my problem clearly and is there
somebody that can help me with this.
    Kind regards
    Erik

    Hi Erik
For starters, Captivate does not create movies in HTML
format. It always creates them in .SWF format. Are you possibly
noticing the fact you can create an additional HTML page used to
display your .SWF movie and assuming the movie is in HTML format?
Is this Captivate 1 or Captivate 2? I ask because you are
talking about "the same underlying files".
One suggestion I would make is to totally forego MenuBuilder
in favor of Jesse Warden's Captivate Player.

  • Menubuilder links no longer working

I am using Menubuilder in Captivate 3... I have created some menus and published the HTML option. These links do not work, about a week or so ago these links did work in Firefox and not IE now they don't work in anything.

I have done some more testing and see that the reason the links are not working must have something to do with me editing the html after it was created. The reason I had to edit the HTML was because my link code was being altered in the outputed html.
    Can anyone help with this???

  • Recording narration in Menubuilder

    Hi,
I want to use menubuilder to link some projects (I have had
difficulties with Captivate Player). I have 2 questions (and a
    couple sub questions).
    1. Can I put narration on the menubuilder? Do I need to
    import it from another application?
    2. Can I put a replay button on the slide? Is it more like
background audio than slide audio in Captivate?
This is the last thing I need to do before my current project
    is complete.
    Thanks!

    Hi LyonLover
Can I put narration on the menubuilder?
Well, since it does allow you to attach sound files, I
supposed you can. But why would you want a narrated menu?
Can I put a replay button on the slide?
MenuBuilder does not work like Captivate does. There is no
timeline. It is simply something that presents a handful of links
to Captivate files. So there is no start and finish as you see in
    Captivate.

  • Publish a MenuBuilder to Breeze server: possible?

I'm sorry if this is a daft question, but can you "publish" a
MenuBuilder project to a Breeze server, so that people can access
the project (which links to 6 .swf files generated via Captivate)
    via our intranet?
If it's possible, how do I do this? When I select Export
within Menubuilder, I can't work out how to access the Breeze
    server.
    Help!

I'm going to tackle this just so your question doesn't sit
here and eventually die an ugly death (though that may still
happen). I know bupkus about Breeze servers, but I do know
Captivate. And to use a Captivate movie in a Breeze server, you
have to publish it from Captivate with the settings for - and
directly to - the Breeze server.
In other words, when you publish the movie to Breeze, the
Breeze meta-data is generated, and the movie is published (FTP'd)
to the Breeze server, BUT there is no separate SWF/HTM generated
that can be used to create the Menu Builder project, until and
unless you publish the Captivate movie a
second time, as SWF output. The creation of a MB project is
    a distinctly separate issue, unless I am wrong . . . and I could
    be, I guess.
In other words, I believe you are trying to have your cake
    and eat it too.
Choose one: Display on the web as a MenuBuilder menu, or
open Breeze and view the project within that vehicle.
... as I said earlier, I could be wrong ...

  • Export MenuBuilder file to .exe format

    Hello,
I am fairly new to Captivate and I tried MenuBuilder for the
    first time this week.
I have 2 elements in the menu + 2 clickable zones over logos
in the menu page. 2 links go to Captivate project A and 2 links go
    to Captivate project B.
I am able to export the menu project but when I try to play
the .exe file on someone else's computer, I see the menu page but
the links all give me the same error message. A small message box
appears on screen with the letter F in it, nothing else, and the
    animated presentation does not start.
I am very puzzled. I tried to check and uncheck the box to
save the .htm and .swf files, I republished the projects A and B
from the .cp files and it's still not working «outside»
    my computer...
What am I forgetting?? I need to place these 2 projects on a
CD and I want to have a menu, Am I doing the right thing, is there
    another way to do this?
    Thanks is advance!
    -- Lyne

    Welcome to our community, Lyne
The rather generic "F" message indicates you have created a
EXE from MenuBuilder that is looking for a SWF/HTM file pair for
Captivate and the files aren't found. Or, probably more accurately,
the files aren't found where the MenuBuilder output is
    Expecting them.
MenuBuilder is notorious for creating absolute paths to
files. To avoid this, I take the following steps in MenuBuilder.
When you link to a file, never browse to it. Instead, just
manually type the file name. If you do browse to it, take the
additional step of removing the preceding path information so that
all that's left behind is the file name you are linking to. Then
make sure you place a check mark in the check box labeled "Save
    file with project".
Once you do this, you have then created a relative link. With
a relative link, the file is simply expected to be found in the
relative path. Often, the same folder as the MenuBuilder EXE
    calling the file.

  • Bookmark feature available in CP4 with CP3 Menubuilder SWF object links?

I have my CP4 project published to run only on a CD. I have looked through the online CP 4 Help, but haven't been able to find out information if it is possible to bookmark in a CD based program? The way the CD is set up is 7 lessons are linked through a Menubuilder .swf object created in CP3 so that all the lessons are linked within the CD. If a learner is not able to do all 7 of the lessons in one sitting, has to take out the CD from the PC, and then later puts the CD back in to the PC, the CD will start at the beginning, the first lesson.

    Hiya, Mike,
It's pretty tough to work through pasted-in code. If you can, please upload a page to a server, so we can see your pages in context. We'll be able to download it and look at it.
That said, you can do this: Find the beginning of an editable region in Code View. It will look like this:
    <!-- InstanceBeginEditable name="nameofregionhere" -->
Click anywhere in that tag, between the opening bracket and the closing bracket.
Then, on the vertical toolbar on the left side of the Code window, click on the "Collapse Full Tag" button. It is the one with two arrows pointing at each other. This will collapse that entire editable region. Then click the button with the two arrows pointing away from each other. That will re-open the editable region, but will highlight it.
If you have nested regions, you will find the other inside one of the editable regions. If you copy the <!-- InstanceBeginEditable and do a search on it in that document, you will find the nested region.

  • Blurry Menubuilder Text

Hi, I'm creating a menubuilder project to link several
different movies together. When I preview the menu, the text and
tootips are clear. Once I export the project however, the text
    appears blurry and most unprofessional.
It doesn't matter whether I export to .swf or .exe and it
also doen't seem to matter what font I use, all fonts come out
blurry. I've had no such issues with the movies themselves, just
with this menubuilder project. I'm using Captivate Version 1.01 Any
    suggestions?! Thanks in advance

    Do not export to exe
OR swf. Export to HTML instead.
Your problem is probably that the Captivate SWF is NOT
scalable (as a Flash SWF would be), and since the Captivate SWF
depends on the HTM for proper sizing information, I'm guessing your
problem is warping due to the SWF being viewed at the wrong size.
    Just a guess of course.

  • Menubuilder in adobe captivate

I have been trying to create a menubuilder project. All of
the swf files have linked properly and will open in the same window
but I have one problem. Once I have selected a demo to run I cannot
get back to the original menu to choose another one. I have read
the technote about closing a demo using javascript
[javascript:window.close()] but this leads to a blank screen rather
than back to the menu that I need. Does anyone have any advice for
me? Is there a different command that I can use that will do this
    for me?
    thanks
    Katie

    Hi Rick,
Thanks for your reply and the warm welcome!
I put the file name in to 'Open URL or File' but it said that
I would need to export the project first and even when I did that
    the other files wouldn't open!
I think I can solve the problem by putting executable files
instead of .swf files in- the only problem with this is that I have
to go through an internet explorer security warning 'do you want to
run or save this file?' and 'The publisher cannot be verified...'.
Is there any way to get around this? I need to share this
with other people and I would like it to look like a polished
    programme.
    thanks for your help

  • Linking movie to menubuilder flash file

I have a movie saved as an swf/htm file. On the movie end
options I selected, Open URL or file. I tell it to open the
menu.swf file which is my menubuilder project. I burn these two
files to CD. When the movie ends, it just stops. Then menu doesn't
open. How do I make this work?

    Hi
As you may know I've been trying to do the same sort of thing
and I've got mine working now on CD as well.
Not sure if this is going to help but the way mine is set up
    is as follows:
    1. Intro movie saved in "A Folder" as a captivate movie
    2. Published version saved as .exe with a movie end option of
opening another movie saved in the same folder and the fill name
    3. Menubuilder with 6 options plus a quiz saved in "A folder"
    - all links with tick in "save file with project" check box
    4. Published version saved as a flash movie in the same
    folder
    5. All movies from menu saved in the same folder as all the
others with an end option of close movie bringing you back to the
    menu each time.
    6. All movies published full screen as .exe
Burnt all of this to CD, plus we had to write a little
autorun file so that it fired up with the correct movie when it
started, rather than just the folder.
Everything works well, all full screen and links work too.
The only thing that's not quite right is that when the first intro
movie moves to the menu, it a bit jumpy and untidy, but essentially
    does the job.
Not sure if this is going to help, but am willing to explain
in more detail if you think it might be of use.
    Cheers Julesy

  • Sub Items in MenuBuilder

I am creating a menubuilder project that includes Items and
Sub Items. As I am creating the project the Items and Sub Items are
displayed in the menu format with the sub items underneath the
Item. Also, there is the expand/collapse indicator when there are
sub items but when the menu builder project is finished all of the
sub items are treated as items and the expand/collapse indicator is
not displaying. Is there a way to display the menu builder project
in a heirarchal format with Items and Sub Items?

I see what you mean, tsl500. Thanks much for the
    clarification.
The plus and minus items are there as a part of the wizard
when setting up the Menu Builder project, but in fact, are not a
part of the final product when published.
If you want that functionality, you would have to create your
menu in DHTML, most likely, in which case Menu Builder wouldn't be
    needed anyway.
But if you would like to see that function included in
future versions of Menu Builder, you can let the development team
know by posting a new Feature Request
    by
    clicking this link right here.
Does that answer your question? Hope so, but if not, let me
    know.
    best~

  • Help with MenuBuilder

    Hi All -
I'm looking for help with and examples of MenuBuilder
projects. I have a product tour that is comprised of 4 scenarios. I
have created the scenarios as .exe files in Captivate. I would like
to use MenuBuilder to launch those .exe files. However, as best I
can tell, the only thing I can do with MenuBuilder is have a list

Is there any way to do this or samples of other things people have

  • MenuBuilder Question

    Hello -
I am trying to create a MenuBuilder .EXE file that links to

this working by clicking the "Save file with project" button in the
