Menus browsing lag

I suddenly have a considerable lag with menus browsing. The "roll down" ones, like when you click "File", "Bookmarks" etc and a table with contents appear. Mainly bookmarks. The highlight is lagging behind the cursor. It just started one day. Absolutely everything else both on my PC and in FF works perfectly fine except for menus. Smaller ones seems to be working fine, but everything larger than ~15 positions starts to lag.
I've tried resetting FF and it solved the problem until I restarted the PC few times and it started lagging again. I've tried safe mode with everything disabled and it worked, but I don't have many addons, and disabling them individually didn't solve the problem. I don't know what else safe mode disables that may lead to this. Plus since resetting worked initially too but then lag started again I don't know if safe mode is the same way.

I'm actually not an expert in Blackberries. I switched from the 9790 to my Torch. Because the batteries in the 9790 dies quickly when browsing and the torch's battery is great when I'm browsing with 3G on. It could stay up for a day unlike the 9790 when browsing for 3 hours straight it's dead.
Anyway, I'm having huge amount of lag when browsing non ”mobilized” websites. It`s not slow to load. But it`s lagglng. I've browsed around the internet for solutions and people say that I should upgrade my OS. So how do I do this? I think I'm currently in OS 7. If I update, will I loose my bbm and phone contacts? If so, how could I bring them back?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
The simplest way is to, on a PC (you cannot do this on MAC):
1) Make sure you have a current and complete backup of your BB...you can find complete instructions via the link in my auto-sig below.
2) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages
3) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed

4) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:
http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
It is sorted first by carrier -- so if all you want are the OS levels your carrier supports, your search will be quick. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To truly seek out the most up-to-date OS package for your BB, you must dig through and find all carriers that support your specific model BB, and then compare the OS levels that they support.
5) Delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
6a) For changing your installed BB OS level (upgrade or downgrade), you can launch the Desktop Software and connect your BB...the software should offer you the OS package you installed to your PC.
6b) Or, for reloading your currently installed BB OS level as well as for changing it, bypass the Desktop Software and use LOADER.EXE directly, by proceeding to step 2 in this process:

Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC.
If, during the processes of 6a or 6b, your BB presents a "507" error, simply unplug the USB cord from the BB and re-insert it...don't do anything else...this should allow the install to continue.
You may also want to investigate the use of BBSAK (bbsak.org) to perform the wipe it is capable of.
You may also want to try the "Bare Bones OS Reload Procedure" to attempt to narrow down the precise causal item:
Load your OS "bare bones"...if anything is optional, do not install it.
If the behavior presents immediately, then try a different OS with step 1
If the behavior does not immediately present, then run for as long as it takes for you to be sure that the behavior will not present.
Add one thing -- no matter how tempting, just one.
If the behavior does not present immediately, then again run for long enough to be sure it will not have the same problem
Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are loaded or the behavior presents
When the behavior presents, you know the culprit...the last thing you loaded.
If the behavior does not re-present, then you know that either step 1 or 2 cured it.
If the behavior presents no matter what, then you likely have a hardware level issue for which no amount of OS or software can cure.

I've heard of that problem with Safari, but not Chrome. Do me a favor and download and install Firefox and see if you get the same 'lag' using it.
Also make sure that you have the very latest updates - I read frequently of the lag problem when scrolling in Safari early on, when the Retina models first came out, but haven't heard (or read) anything about it lately.

Firefox 33.0 lags in text typing/ selecting/ deleting & switching tabs

After an automatic update from FF 32.0.3 to FF 33.0 on 17 Oct 2014, there had been a severe browser lag. Each user action or input results in a lag lasting 1–5 secs each, making the browser very difficult & unpleasant to use.

<li>Highlighting Text (self-typed & web-rendered text): 2–3 secs before desired text is highlighted, & only partially (eg. For "impossible", can only highlight "imposs" or "ssible")</li>
<li>Deleting Text: 1–2 secs before each letter gets deleted</li>
<li>Switching Between Tabs: 2–5 secs for switch</li>
<li>Webpage Scrolling: 1–2 secs for each turn (for mouse wheel) or down-swipe (for touchpad)</li>
</ul>
All of the above issues occur everytime despite system restart, having only 1–2 tabs open, & even when FF is the only application running. I have not encountered the aforementioned problems in FF 32.0.3 & earlier FF versions, or in other browsers.
Other than FF being automatically updated to FF 33.0 on 17 Oct 2014, there was no other change (ie. no application install/ uninstall, no Windows update) that day or the preceding few days.
The lag disappears if FF 33.0 is run in safe mode with all add-ons disabled. But testing with add-ons disabled one by one does not isolate which add-on (if any) might be involved.

What I eventually did (a few days before reporting here after registering a user account):
Since I was unable to resolve the problem, I performed a successful system restore, but the rolled-back browser (FF 32.0.3) was unable to launch (error code: "can't load XPCOM"). Subsequently, I resorted to installing a fresh copy of FF 32.0.3.

Since 17/18 Oct 2014, I have encountered a couple of reports about similar lag issues in FF 33.0 (& possibly since FF 32.0.* for some users). The collective symptoms & feedback suggest that it is probably not add-ons causing the issue, but some newly-created incompatibility or conflict with certain (or combinations of) display/ graphics adapter(s). So far, the reported affected adapters that I have come across include the ATI Mobility Radeon HD5000 series, Intel HD Graphics, & NVIDIA GeForce.
The temporary workaround appears to be disabling the hardware acceleration option. But since this is not a long-term solution, I am holding off updating to FF 33.0 (again) or to the just-released FF 33.0.1, until this issue is officially recognized & resolved.
Note:- Some users with text/ tab lagging problems also reported slowness wrt video &/or flash pages, which I can't verify because I had not tested FF 33.0 on video/ flash pages before reinstalling FF 32.0.3. (The text, tab & scrolling lags are enough to keep me away from browsing anything but the most basic webpages.)

Usually I just open these softwares: Chrome, Evernote, EUdict, Flux
But even this setting could lag from time to time. (Already the minimum amount of app I could open)

Slow start up and lag during usage

this last month, my i mac has started this delayed startup to log in. its taking its sweet time... like 30 seconds. (we are so spoiled ) and also web browsing is sluggish, only sometimes and only a bit.. sometimes I have to refresh the address.
Any ideas why this would be happening all the sudden and how do I fix it?
The response was like lightening for 9 months.. and now this.

I did not restart the router/modem. I have an all in one just installed about a month ago.. both the router and modem were malfunctioning and Brighthouse changed it out.. I upgraded to a higherspeed combo.
The ipad connected immediately to the internet. - no problems
Only have Safari installed
Itunes/Appstore load fairly quickly... more lag with itunes
My husband connects with a windows laptop.. no complaints
I mac is wi fi.. no ethernet connection- dont have a cord
As I answered the questions.. it occured to me that both my router and modem went bad.. Bright house suggested a power surge... Florida... Lightening. I have the Mac running through a back up battery/surge protector APC- and doubt there is an issue.. but... thought id mention it.
I did not restart the modem/router because everything else is working fine.-- but I will if you think it is relevant.
Regarding the browsing lag... it only hapens when I click on a link within a web page or am trying to a new address.. otherwise internet speed is good. And this isnt too concerning.. very minor.
My bigger concern is when the computer is alseep and I tap the track pad to awaken it... this is where the delay is.. I see a whitish/grayish screen that is transparent.. so I can see the window trying to load. Then, a bar of white bars grows indicating the window is loading.. then everything looks normal, but my cursor wont respond right away. neither will the key board. I have to wait for the little color wheele to appear and spin and then I get a blinking cursur in the password box... yay,,, I can finally type my password to log into the computer..

iPhoto is basically inoperable - browsing lags 10 seconds behind each click. Here are the facts:
- Running latest Mountain Lion OSX 10.8.2
- MP Retina, 4GB RAM
- Never had a problem with iPhoto before - have 14,000 pics, ~74GB in pictures
- Prior to this problem, my Mac Greyscreen crashed and wouldn't boot up because I had no more space on the Start up disk. I managed to go into safe mode and clear space and it starts up now, but iPhoto has become vegatative!
- I have read and tried the following fixes: Opening iPhoto with Shift+option+cmd and: rebuilding thumbnails, rebuilding permissions, repairing library etc and nothing has helped
Any ideas guys? It's not the beachball problem like other people have posted about, its the problem where I can barely operate iPhoto... one click and it takes 10 seconds to respond. I'm at my wits end here.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated - please bear in mind I'm a Mac noob, so console commands may take a bit of explaining...

Jacob, first thing to do would be to launch the Activity Monitor (from Applications > Utilities), to see which Application is using all the CPU time, and also look fore disk usage - page outs, etc.

how much free disk space do you now have? My guess it, you did not free enough space. Try to free at least 20 GB.
Post back, if freeing more disk space helps. How did you repair your library? With the First Aid Window or with iPhoto Library Manager?

Strange menu lag in PS Elements 12

I'm running Photoshop Elements 12 on a 64bit installation of Windows 8.1 and generally it runs really well. However I've noticed a strange menu lag issue whereby when I move the cursor over over menu bar menus it lags noticable and seems to 'stick' and jump between menu items.
I've got a quad core i5 and 12gb of memory so the computer is well up to the job of running PSE and if I open Task Manager whilst observing this menu lag it shows no spikes of processing power or any obvious issues.
I wondered whether anyone knew what was going on or any solutions; it's not a major problem but is rather irritating.

As far as I know Photoshop CC does not have an Adobe watermark associated with tryout as does Premiere Elements.
And, Photoshop CC is now marketed on a subscription basis.
Right now the only way I can get a full background replacement is to go into the main menu psd and replace its background
layer in the Layer Set with a 1920 x 1080 image.
I have found that will present full in the Movie Menu customization area but if I replace it with another image in Movie Customization those black "trims" are back.
This is what the Secret Agent (HD) looks like with its background layer replaced in the .psd using Photoshop CS5.1 and then the edited theme

Just do not replace the Menu Background Video or Still that you see in the screenshot and you are OK.
I did a Snipping Tool copy of the background you posted to use for the demo.

Update to 6.01 has resulted in extreme slow down when I right click for context menus? Tried usual fixes (new profile, cleaned cache).

After updating to latest version for Osx, I noticed that when right clicking for context menus, enormous lag occurs. It has made it almost impossible to be productive. Any ideas?

Today I tested the Linux-64 version (Firefox 33) from the link you suggested. There weren't any install instructions or a README, but based on the file-system layout I guess it just needs to be extracted. I downloaded and extracted to my Downloads directory and ran the executable via command-line as my user (not root).
Firefox popped up right away, but it was not usable for at least 30s. It asked to import from Chrome which I did (no errors). Every click on the top bar (address bar search, buttons to the right of search, bookmarks toolbar) resulted in a dimming un-dimming sequence of @7s, after which nothing (couldn't focus in the address bar, occasionally the bookmark menu would appear, but was not functional). Basically, it's un-usable.
As I mentioned in an earlier reply, I am having similar problems with Komodo which is apparently also Mozilla based.
Are there any logs I could tail and post that might help track this down?
Not sure what to do at this point.

Firefox lags when I switch tabs

Whenever I switch tabs, it takes 2-10 seconds for firefox to respond. When it takes longer, windows even mark browser as Not responding.
In the task manager I can see that it is using full one of my 4 cores.
Very rarely, the firefox also "spits out" the tab I click into a new window - what is that supposed to be?
I tryed to click tabs, double click tabs and none of such actions led to a new window - but as soon as the browser lags, new window is very likely to appear.
I have added the debug info. But I insist that the thing is same in the no-addon mode. I also remember having similar problem with clean firefox installation.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

I just had my FireFox updated after a major crash with at least over 80 tabs in 2 windows total, which it worked fine before crashing, but now my bowser crashes at random clicks on avrious websites & small group reloads. What is wrong and can it be fix?

The tabs I had were at YouTube, DeviantART, and other websites that are picture sites, or just image heavy. I usually leave my browser open while my laptop is in hibernation mode, as to try to avoid closing them as I tend to build up tabs and it would be a pain to wait and load everything. This has cause some crashes in the past, but those were less frequent than what I am experiencing now after the latest update. My browser seems to act more frail after that big crash I had. I did tried to reload my windows in tab, while cutting off the wireless so it wouldn't be too big of rush of loadtime, but it still crashed and does it constantly now. I can barely watch a 10-minute video or any multi task without the browser just crashing at random loads or clicks. Also, I notice whenever I write comments on Youtube, the browser lags and sometimes freezes.
It works better after I restart my computer, but that' s only a temporary fix.

Changing Fonts in Aperture

Is anyone aware if it is possible to change the default fonts in the Aperture menus, browser, etc...? If not in Aperture, is it possible to change the default font settings for menus, etc.. in Snow Leopard?

Can I just pursue this a little further? I produce quite a large number of PhotoBooks in Aperture 2.1.4. My corporate identity uses the AvantGarde typeface. At the moment I adjust every piece of text and every photo label individually each time that I produce a book. Since almost all my PhotoBooks are the maximum 100 pages, this is somewhat irksome! Is there any way to adjust the Default Font (not sizes - I am happy with these) in Aperture's PhotoBook layouts?

[Solved] Chromium - Overusing CPU

Today I wanted to take a look into Chromium. So I:
pacman grabbed it
went setting by setting configuring it
signed into my google accounts
found all simmiler addons from firefox (List below)
Configured every addon
checked out the about:flags section
enabled the "Uber Page" (Tested both with and without this)
launched htop
put on mplayer with my favorite podcasts
then started surfing...
About 1-2 minutes later the entire (more or less (Seems to be a render thread (Meaning the UI reacts to input, but the chrome (UI at the top of the browser, not the browser's name) becomes wonky and the pages fails to respond))) browser lagged to a hault and htop showed that /bin/lib/chromium/chromium had ~120% CPU utilisation. One of the cores is running a solid 100% used and nothing will get the browser going again except a relaunch.
I have tried everything, and even doing nothing in roughly the same time will acheive the same result.
The chromium task manager shows 0 CPU usage among all "Pages" then jumped later to show 104% for the browser.
I tried to view chrome:memory, but it just wouldn't load.
The memory ran essentially at ~400M of memory the entire time and my system has 4G of it, so it's not a memory problem.

Just checked my TTY1 fom which I launched X. Seems that the crashing thread is throwing the following error twice on chromium's boot:

I now tried running it with the --no-sandbox option. Same result.
I now ran:
$pacman -Syyu
so I know I'm up to date. I haven't rebooted since installing chromium, so I will try that after posting and will update this thread if anything changes.
Solution:
Well it seems it was a problem with just the addons. No matter how I played, anything more than 7 would yeild the same thing. Honnestly, Chromium's plugin API is awful. I'll stick with firefox, at least it can run my plugins to tweek the UI to my liking (All 32 of them... UGH).

I decided to try installing pulseaudio. It turns out you were in fact correct all my mp3 files now play correctly. Very strange! thanks for your help axelectrik.

13" Macbook Pro w/ Retina, L2013 Glitches

Hello everyone,
I just replaced my 13" Macbook Pro with Retina, 256SSD 8GB ram, 2.6gHz (bought on Nov 22, 2013) with a new one (return/exchange) because that one had glitches with wake function. The new one (so far) thankfully hasn't shown this error, but I am experiencing other glitches that I would like to know whether or not I should worry about returning this one (before my return option expires) because of hardware issues, or if this is all software and I should wait for a patch:
1. My safari browser lags at times on load (extensive lag) and at times needs to be refreshed because the pages didn't load fully or links are not clickable.
(Could this just be safari? I just decided to switch over from Mozilla to Safari).
2. Earlier today (this is day 1.5 of using it and yesterday I only installed programs- all legit, no bootlegs) my screen flashed for a quick second when I had a few programs open (not that many, my old MacBook Air 11in with 4GB RAM handled well unless I had many design programs open, which I didn't today).
3. When I go into activity monitor, it is telling me I am using almost all 8 GB of my RAM, when I only have 3 programs running and finder open, the kernel_task is showing to use a huge chunk of my memory and CPU.
Basically, I am really worried and need to know if I just spent $1500 on a faulty machine. I have been an Apple customer for over 8 years and have never had anything like this with y previous model (even when they aged out).

The MBA is lighter but not by that much. The MBPr is faster and has a superior display. I’m a happy MBA user and right now I’d call it the best Mac notebook I’ve ever owned. (My first was the original PowerBook 140.) Next year I’ll be replacing my 2011 MBA and I’m seriously considering the MBPr instead simply due to the speed bump and superior display. However, whichever way you go you can’t go wrong.

Responsive Mobile Menus: Open and close on browser, but not in mobile?

I have two responsive jquery menus I am working with. In the desktop browser they both look and operate fine (full screen and mobile size), but when that same responsive page with menu is viewed on an actual phone (Android and iphone), the menus both: SHOW FULLY OPENED WITH ALL PARENT AND CHILDREN?
I believe I installed everyting properly (especially since it resizes and works perfect in a normal desk browser) -Dropsdown and Contracts back.
Does anyone have any experience with this issue (Responsive menus works fine in a desktop browser, but shows completely opened, and will not drop or contract when viewed on an actual mobile phone, like Android or iphone?), and if so any guidance?

Also re: Vanilla Testing: I always test all my stuff on a blank HTML page with only the Boilerplate and JS that Dreamweaver provides. I don't know if I have the capability to fully do in something like notepad? Will this method (Boiler, JS, and blank HTML) suffice--No other Scripts--Not even my stylesheet?
