MEP LOCK

I bought a new blackberry and i turned on my phone  and it says that there is a MEP code needed and then it says (0 trys)? how do i get my sim card to work?

Again, my best advice, get your money back. It is not easy or cheap.
After the ten attempts have been used, you must get RIM to unlock the device.
There are two routes, and only two, to achieve this.
* IF your device is in warranty, contact your service provider technical support. Tell them you have this issue which needs to be escalated to RIM level customer support. I'll warn you that most carrier technical support people will first assume and think you are referring to a device security unlock, and you will need to convince them otherwise and explain clearly what you need. THEY will not be able to help you because the carriers themselves cannot unlock a device which has had the MEP code attempts depleted, and should (and you will need to ask) to have the case escalated to RIM level tech support.
* If your device is out of warranty, contact RIM direct. See the Contact Us information from the website: http://ca.blackberry.com/contact/ The options you want to select to speak to BlackBerry Customer Care are 3 (for inquiries, orders, billing, e-RMA etc) then 5 (e-RMA and Out of Warranty).
Make sense? Good luck.

If your BB was already MEP locked and you obtained it from a source that represented it as being able to be unlocked, then your recourse would be with the seller you obtained it from.

  • MEP LOCK BB 9800

    Please guys, help me!!
My BB 9800 have the MEP Code lock, how can I unlock?

To determine if your BlackBerry is already "unlocked" or not:
    1. On your BlackBerry, go to Options > Advanced Options > Sim Card.
    2. At that screen type MEPD (see note below) on your keyboard. A new menu will pop up.
        * If your BlackBerry has a SureType keyboard (71xx, 81xx, 91xx devices) you will need to double-tap the P, so the actual keys entered become M E P P D.
    3. Look for Network in the list.
    4. If your device is "unlocked", it should say Disabled or Inactive. If it says Active, it's still locked to that carrier.
If you need instructions on how to unlock your BlackBerry for use on a
carrier other than the one to which it is branded, check out BlackBerry
    Unlocks
and read this link for instructions.
After the ten MEP entry code attempts have been used, you must get RIM to unlock the device.

    http://us.blackberry.com/support/programs/technical/incident.jsp
    Bonne chance!

  • Fix for MEP code 0 left

Unfortunately, the "rom booter" did not work. I have downloaded the desktop manager software from Blackberry suppport and have run that program also. Still no solution to the problem. Any other ideas?

    Hello!
I've no idea what a "rom booter" is...maybe you are talking about something in a different thread. Nevertheless, there is NO LEGAL means for anyone but the RIM factory to recover your situation...

  • MEP Tries 0 on Pearl 9100

Does a Blackberry store have the ability to flash devices? I just purchased this phone off eBay. The device was locked to Bell mobility which I assumed meant it just hadn't been unlocked. I received the device and there are no MEP attempts left.
Any work arounds? I'm pulling my hair out.
RIM really ought to make a solution for this. I know it seems idiotic to try the same thing 10 times, but there are some of us with different situations.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
No one here, in this user-to-user community, can tell you the answers to your questions...we have no access to anything that has that information. All we can do is provide you with guidance.
It would be rather rare (impossible, I think) for the eBay seller to have obtained, as you say, "an unlocked factory device"...from all I understand, BB makes no such devices for legal distribution to anyone. All devices produced for the authorized sales channels are MEP locked to an original carrier, and require obtaining of an MEP unlock code to allow it to be used on other carriers. As always, if an invalid code is used too many times, then the device is permanently locked to that original carrier, and even a valid code is useless.
Your carrier should be able to inquire as to the status of your specific device...properly reported lost/stolen devices are logged as such, and the carriers have access to that information (if you can convince the agent to work hard enough for you).
All in all, I recommend you use the eBay Buyer Protection services for your situation. From what you describe, you were sold a device that is not in compliance with what the seller described, and eBay provides protection for such circumstances.
    Good luck!

    Dear BB Community,
Please help me link up with the BalckBerry Technical team to provide for me the locking code of a BlackBerry 9720. The IMEI is {REMOVED}. I got it a Christmas presence from a friend in UK. I intend to use it in Uganda hence it has to be unlocked. There is only one trial remaining thereafter I do not know what will happen.

  • Hardlocked

Hi, my bb 8520 got hard locked and displaying 0mep left, so plz help me out asap. Regards.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please see this helpful thread to start:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/General-BlackBerry-Functions-and/Unlocking-your-BlackBerry-Gu...
If you have used up all of your chances to enter the correct unlock code, there is nothing further you can do. Even if you happen to have now the correct code, it is useless. Only the factory can now (legally) unlock your BB. Typically, I've heard that the cost of having BlackBerry do this for you will be greater than the cost of just buying a new one. But, you are able to ask them...see here:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/programs/technical/incident.jsp
Note, however, that this process will start with a fee...
If you obtained your unlock code from somewhere but it was incorrect, your recourse could be with them -- however, they may well question why you exhausted all 10 attempts before contacting them.
If your BB was already MEP locked and you obtained it from a source that represented it as being able to be unlocked, then your recourse would be with the seller you obtained it from.
    Good luck!

  • Used all the 10 attempts to unlock the network

    Dear all,
after having unlocked partially the phone with a code T mobile uk (the original carrier) provided me, the phone remained locked on the T-mobile (now EE) network. The network subset was showing unlocked but the phone was not working with any other SIM card.
After various attempts the EE technical department suggested to input 10 times the code they provided advising that the mobile would then reset to zero/ original setting and everything would be fine. I did that and as a consequence instead the phone is now Hard Locked (i.e. it does not work with any Sim card). the message says "One or more of your network codes is blocked. This is preventing your device from using the Mobile Network. Please contact your service provider". I did contact EE technical guys and they have no idea what to do. They adviced that is a blackberry issue to ask balckberry what I need to do to make the phone work again. So here I am.
    Anyone knows what to do?
    thank you

Contact your service provider technical support. Tell them you have this issue which needs to be escalated to BlackBerry level customer support.
They (Tmobile UK) hardlocked it for you, they will need to get BlackBerry to unlock.
Or, you can try one of the private vendors of such MEP locked devices.
