Mercator to SAP XI Migration - Re-usage of maps

Hi Experts,
We are starting with a migration project from Mercator to XI 3.0.
Is there any way we can re-use the existing maps on Mercator.
I read in some of the blogs that we can use Java Maps and some APIs to call the Mercator maps.
Can somebody throw more light on this?
Some example scenario would be of great help.
I have gone through all the Forum Posts on SDN regarding this.No Links to the Old posts please.

Hi,
For 7.11 I think there is some sort of adapter from IBM to support Datastage maps inside PI, but unless they downported it to 3.0 I don't think you have too much options.
I am aware of such a project but that involved a lot of custom development and the solution was not nice.

SAP Data Migration Framework

Dear All, I read from TechEd that SAP data migration framework involves using Business Objects data services. SAP has provided pre-built Jobs with iDOC as target.
All is fine but I came to know that we can use Data services as staging area and modify etc our data in Data services beforw loading into SAP ECC system.
I would like to kow more about using Data services as staging area. Does that mean that when we run jobs then data is stored in iDOC(XML file) on DS or it means we can run DS in demo mode where we don't load data but keep it within memory of DS. This is different from profiling and storing execution/DQ statistics. This is storing real time data in DS and then modify/analyze and then load in SAP ECC.
Can someone explain if we can run DS in demo mode without loading data?

CCMS Alert SAP Buffer buffer storage usage exceeds threshold

Hi,
We are seeing the CCMS alert for our PRD system as noted below. This is not yet impacting major performance issues yet and we
would like to take prior actions before performance becomes bad. The buffers looks fine in ST02. Please advise on what actions to take?

Could anybody advise the general procedure for SAP system migration?

I may have chance to be involved into a SAP system migration. Generlly speaking, there are several SAP instances will be migrated into 1 box.The existing instances are 4.6C, and the target instance is ECC6.
Could anybody provide me some reference material for SAP system migration? or Is there any tools or software can facilitate the migration?

SAP Code Migration issue in generation phase

Currently upgrading mobile environment from CRM 4.0 sp8 to CRM 2007
In the migration process by SAP Code Migration Wizard the generation step is executed successfully.
But in the migration step which follows only UI applications are migrated successfully. The PDA applications and BOL projects fail due to missing ".vbp" files.
The missing files are:
D:\SAP\Mobile\CMT\output\sfabol\vba\ITConsumerGoods\sfabol\prj\sfabol.vbp D:\SAP\Mobile\CMT\output\sfabol\vba\ITPharma\sfabol\prj\sfabol.vbp

Issue 1 : CMT fails during migration stage for BOL apps
It is because, In MAS Generation Settings, Generate ALL
Option is disabled for BOL. I have checked the option
so that it will create the project files (.Vbp files)
Issue 2: CMT fails for PDA apps
It is because Microsoft SDK windows Pocket PC 2002 is not
installed which is a prereauisite for PDA apps to get
mugrated. Please check the software requiremens section of upgrade guide.

Usage of MAPI and TAPI

We are using Forms on the web. We have three tier architecture - the client, the middle tier (the APP server) and the database tier.
All insert/update/deletes through forms are done using Module APIs and Table APIs. This was done when we were using the client server architecture.
Now that we have moved to Web, is there any specific advantage/disadvantage that we get in continued usage of MAPI-TAPI?
Is there any documents available on this?

Web PL/SQL generated applications always use TAPI to update the database, but they do not use MAPI.

Forms Migration Assistant Usage

Hi all,
I am not able to understand the clear usage of Forms Migration Assistant yet.
I have seen in Forums that Forms 6i applications can be migrated to 11g just by recompiling the forms and running it on 11g.
If this is the case , whats the clear usage of Forms Migration Assistant?
Is it meant to be used for some complex Forms built on 6i or 9i ?
When do we use migration assistant instead of just recompiling the forms and running it on 11g ?
Can anyone help me out ?

It does some changes; for example when you have calls to run_product for reports this get's replaced by rp2rro.run_product, the rp2rro library is attached and the reports object is added to the form. You also get notified if you have calls to get_file_name in your form as this built in is deprecated.

SAP Data Migration from R/3 4.6C to ECC 6.0

Hey All
We are planning to upgrade SAP R/3 4.6C to ECC 6 in near future. I am aware that data migration is not an issue as upgrade takes care of it all. What we are concerned with is that if after a few days of upgrade when the system is functional and users have performed some quantum of transactions on it, in case if the system fails then and we have to revert back to R/3 4.6C how can we get back all the information that we processed on ECC back to R/3.
I would like to know if anyone who has performed an upgrade, had some kind of fail over strategy for such a situation. Is there some tool we can use for this purpose?

Simple answer: not possible.

No - there is no tool.
Table structures change, update programs changed - it's not possible to "roll back" that to a date and re-do it on 4.6c again.
Do minimize the risk I would copy the production system to a sandbox, do the upgrade and let the (key-) users test their functionality intensively.

Business Connector to SAP XI migration

Hi Experts,
1)Customer is using Business connector with R/3 46C .
2) Now R/3 4.6C will be Upgraded to ECC6
3) We need to first find out if the BC will work with ECC6 or not. If not we will need to give them the Approach for BC to XI Migration.
if XI has to be used what will happend to the interfaces running in BC ...is their any way that we can use that in XI and work....
or ...we need to do developmet from the scrach...
