Mercury Playback not working
I just re-installed Win7-64 and all my software, including Master collection CS5. I started a new project in PPro CS5 and noticed that video rendering is set for "Mercury Playback Engine Software Only" and is greyed out, so I cannot change it. I have a GTX 470 and it was working just fine before I re-installed windows. I did add the drivers for the vid card just like I did before. Is there something I set incorrectly when I re-installed CS5?
Make sure you have the very latest Nvidia driver. The GTX470 was added to the support list a while back. Maybe you were using an older driver with the hack before you did the re-install?
Also check to make sure that the driver install was good by checking the driver version in the Nvidia control panel. If its using the default windows driver it will not work. I had this problem and had to re-install the Nvidia driver for it to work

Hello,
I have Premiere Elements 10 and when I press the play button I can hear correct audio, however
the visuals are stuck on the frame that I paused it on and I have to movie the footage around inside the playback area for the frame to update and still get's stuck the next time I press play. I know this is the software's fault because the format of the footage (AVI) was fine for Windows Media Player and Premiere Pro CS6. Adding to that: the format of my footage has worked fine the software in the past and only in the past few days, has it started doing this. Please help ASAP as I have a youtube channel and I need to release videos on schedule.

Example:HatBat,
nVidia normally releases new video drivers (so long as the card/chip and the OS version are still supported) about every month.
Historically, when there were issues, they were addressed in the next version of the video driver, though about 4 years ago, there were two in a row, that had issues with many Adobe programs. The "fix" was simple, even for those, but by the time that Adobe users discovered it, a new (third) driver was released, and it included the fix.
There appears to be something in the latest nVidia video driver, that does not play well with PrE 10. The issues seem to be specific to that older version of PrE, as it does not seem to be affecting earlier, or later versions of PrE - at least so far.
Though nVidia has always been good, and fairly quick, in addressing such compatibility issues, I worry that the user-base with PrE 10 might be too small, for them to even notice. I would contact nVidia, to let them know that there IS an issue in PrE 10. Over the years, nVidia has done a lot of direct development work with Adobe, but much of that collaboration has been for the CUDA support for Adobe's Mercury Playback Engine (MPE), which is used in PrPro, as of CS 5. I do not know how closely they work with the PrE development team.
One additional thought on this is that PrE 10 is a two year old program, so even Adobe's direct support of it, will be very limited, given that PrE is now up to version 12. Not sure that either Adobe, or nVidia, will be that motivated to solve the compatibility issue with PrE 10.
So far, I have not read of what the exact compatibility issue with the nVidia driver is (latest) and PrE 10 (only, so far as we can tell). ATR has done a great job at tracking down nVidia cards (affected by the latest nVidia driver), and publishing a list - that list might well grow, as data comes in to the forum. However, what is unique to PrE 10 remains unknown. I would love to see a response from a member of the Adobe PrE development team, who could shed some light on what is different in PrE 10, that does not seem to be in earlier, or later versions of the program - so far, nothing.
The best, that a user might be able to get, is checking the nVidia Web site, and experimenting with the new drivers, when released, including the newest beta release. In that download, install and test scheme, I would be ready to roll-back from the latest driver, just in case it does NOT fix the issue, or perhaps introduces a new problem.
Good luck,
Hunt
PS - going back to the time that the two, consecutive versions of the nVidia driver problems, those users, who had both Adobe programs (suffering from the problem), and were extreme gamers, the "fix" happened to be to turn OFF two 3D display modules for work with Adobe programs, and then turn them ON, when doing the gaming. This was easily accomplished from the nVidia console. It was those two modules, that caused the problem. One just had to toggle them ON/OFF, depending on what they were doing. Heck, I recall gaming in the "good old days," where one had separate boot disks for almost each game, to set up the computer to most effectively run them. Luckily, those days are behind up, but every now and then, one might have to make some changes, depending on the programs about to be run. -
Mercury Transmit not working properly for Premiere Pro in Yosemite for me
Hi.
Since I am not in the middle of a big project I consciously updated the OS to Yosemite, and for me everything in I do in Premiere is working fine, except for Mercury Transmit when I have Mercury Playback Engine enabled for the project (It was working in Mavericks). When I do enable it I have a white screen in my second hdmi monitor and Premiere crashes. Whan I have it in software only it works, not very fluid and sometimes the media disconnects for a few seconds, sometimes there's a lag. I have macbook pro retina late 2013, Is it a problem with the Inter Iris graphics card? Will it work with a future update? Thanks for the feedback and keep up the great work!Hi,

Does Mercury Playback Engine work on a Mac with Quadro 4800 ?
Has anyone successfully run Premiere CS5 Mercury Playback Engine in Hardware acceleration mode, I only get Software mode? The option to change the mode is grayed out for me, but I have the adobe cuda qualify video card. I'm running a 8 Core Mac Pro 3.2Ghz 16GB ram 10 Disk Striped Raid with Nvidia Quadro FX 4800 and Mac OSX 10.6.3. All the demos I have seen are running on Windows 7 Boxes.

YES - nvidia 4800 + MAC = good Mercury editing experience.
The problem is that you need to download the CUDA 3.0 drivers which they haven't published as 'official' yet. Adobe is pushing them to move them over as the drivers seem completely finished. You can get them here - http://developer.nvidia.com/object/cuda_3_0_downloads.html
One other note - I found that my trusty firewire 800 g-raid mini's don't work as well as I'd like for playback in a Mac tower. Basically, MPE is asking for more than the drive can actually handle. I put in two other drives in a software raid and my problems went away.
Hope this helps,

Re: Cross-fade playback not working
- 0.9.7.16.g4b197456
- No local files (Just streaming Pink Floyd's The Wall)
- Yes
- Pink Floyd – Empty Spaces - 2011 - Remaster and Pink Floyd – Young Lust - 2011 - Remaster
-- Version of Spotify you're using
Version 0.9.8.150.g59287e0c
-- Whether the tracks are local files
No
-- If you are having issues with gapless or crossfade, and your settings for both
Both,
Gapless playback ticked in
Crossfade tracks ticked in and set at 6 seconds
-- The Spotify URIs of two tracks you've experienced this with (to find the URIs, right-click the tracks)
All tracks for me but for the sake of report I just listened to September – La La La (Never Give It Up) - Radio Version and went to Maddie Wilson – Just a Boy and no crossfade or gapless playback.
The reported workaround does not work for me.
A "workaround" that works for me is disabling and re-enabling Gapless playback & Crossfade tracks maybe 10 times, note that Gapless playback & Crossfade tracks will stop working again after restarting Spotify (it's possible it might stop working after a while without a restart too, haven't really checked that)
As you might have noticed I'm using 0.9.8 however something that is worth noting is that I did not recieve this update through Spotify, I got it from another person (files signed by Spotify so I trust it) and I extracted the contents to \%appdata%\Roaming\Spotify\
Another thing worth noting is that the reason I did the "forced update" was because of this issue, so I had this same issue in 0.9.7 too, tried a clean re-install but that changed nothing.
(I also noticed that I can't change the settings in 0.9.8, they simply don't stick.. I don't know why, but that prohibits me from trying different configurations. I was going to try if "Enable hardware acceleration" affected the crossfade issue but now I can't, anyone that knows which file the "Enable hardware acceleration" option is stored in? Can't find it in perfs file)
This issue is extremely annoying for someone like me (read: someone who is easily annoyed by things that don't work and I can't seem to fix myself (read: I want to take a knife and stab my ears everytime a track changes...)) Is it possible to revert to like 0.9.6 or something like that without having Spotify auto-updating? I can't find any options for auto-updating?
Edit: Found a download for 0.9.6.81 will try that and report back the results.
Edit 2: Installed Spotify 0.9.6.81 and set up my preferences, deleted the update files that spotify made (also blocked spotify.exe and spotifyhelper.exe from creating those files again through my security suit) and the results are: Gapless playback & Crossfade tracks is working, even after restart, will monitor this thread to see when Spotify fixes this so that I know when I can update again. -
.mv4 iPhone playback not working
An interesting problem that I haven't been able to reconcile through my hosting company so I thought I would post here. I exported a video clip using QT Pro, export for web and uploaded the entire directory and tested for playback on my iPhone:
http://propeller-group.com/Hypnotist/ReadMe.html
(iPhone playback doesn't work and it does not even load the poster image - desktop playback works btw.)
Then I proceeded to upload the same directory to another site to test for playback:
http://mattlucero.com/Hypnotist/ReadMe.html
(both playback methods work perfectly)
So then I proceed to see if the individual files are even playing back on the server that wasn't loading the video on my iPhone:
http://propeller-group.com/Hypnotist/Hypnotist-iPhone.m4v
(now it is playing back fine on the iPhone when hit directly)
This leads me to believe it is an html/scripting error of some kind? But this is the exact same html file generated from QT that has been uploaded to both servers. Why would it work on one server and not on another? Is there possibly some issues with the server not being able to interpret the reference file correctly? Or is there something else I am missing? I have tried configuring MIME types using a .htaccess file, but I am not sure if this is even the issue as I am able to play back the video fine when hit directly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!Seems like Apple set a limit on how much space needs to be available in order to play back quicktime vids from the web. Makes sense. So if you cant play back certain videos that you know you should be able to play back, check your available free space.

Greetings:
I realize that this has been covered in past threads but I am not sure how to dig those up, so I figured I would just ask here. I loaded Premiere Pro CS4 on my brand new laptop Windows Vista 32bit and when I go through the Adobe Classroom in a Book lessons the video playback is not working, but I can hear the voices...not sure why. Also when the videos that are imported into the project I can see that there is proper video but when I try to play it back, I have no luck. Even the fast preview that you can use under the Project tab is not playing. Like I said, I can hear the sound of the video fine but as to the play back no video. I have checked and my Quicktime is the newest version and my Premiere Pro CS4 is completely updated to the latest version...any help here would be appreciated. So I think I have resolved this...I went back and loaded an older driver and it all seemed to work fine. Sorry to post this.

Mercury playback not utilising GPU (GTX 570) PP 5.5
Hi
I have a problem with premiere pro not utilising my GPU for playback Th eyellow line on the timeline indicates the mercury playback is enabled, but footage is jerky and not smooth. I then monitored my GTX 570 usage and found 0% of the GPU was being utilised. I have a I7 2600k, 16GB RAM, GTX 570 GPU, 7200k hard drives an. d are using premiere pro CS5.5. Is this a problem with my GPU or PPro CS5.5
Cheers
DaveHi Jim Simon
I tried what you told me to do, and you were right The accelerated export went around 3.5X faster than the software only. Six minutes of 1280x720 Mp4 footage took about 3.5 minutes to export to H.264 and the non acclerated took about 11 minutes.
I forgot to mention that I was also speeding up the footage through time-remapping, so maybe that was where I was having trouble with the jerky footage. I was under the impression that time remapping was also accelerated, maybe asking too much!
Thanks for your help.

AJA Kona LHe LHi Playback not working
I'm running two separate Mac Pros that also have Final Cut Pro 7 using a AJA Kona LHe and LHi. Both share the same issues when previewing with a broadcast monitor.FCP works perfect with the Kona cards.
The video signal seems to drop out during playback and audio drops out as well.
I have the newest drivers for Kona 9.0.3 and using the 8,5 aja adobe plugin for CS5. I didn't want to install the the AJA Adobe CS5.5 plugins in fear of messing things up.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled both the control panel and the plugins with no luck, The editor seems to be fine its mainly the playback in the monitor that's not working right.
Is this a CS5 thing? Will CS5.5 version fix the issues with Kona cards? I'm seriously thinking about moving over to Preimiere but need to know if thgis setup will work.
Any help would be much appreiciated.Kind of similar. The audio issue is like that. Drops out until I stop playback then restart playback. AJA said to not use kona card but uot put setting instead. That helps but didn't fix it 100% Video playback drops out completely for me with the HDMI out of the LHi. The component out from the LHe works better.
My playback in the program looks good my issue is with external the external monitor playback.
I'm editing with ProRes 422 LT and ProRes 422
Nice video sample. Thats a good way to show your issue. I should do the same thing. -
Audio playback not working in Safari
I just upgraded from a PB 15" to MacBook Pro and noticed that on several websites (in Safari) the audio clips will not play although the progress bar shows them playing -- I have to option click them to download them before they are audiable. This occurs in QT as well as Windows Media type files so far .... and can be experienced on myspace.com clips as well -- I don't which file format those are in ....
I am pretty experienced with Macs by now and have no insight into the fix and/or probable cause.
MacBook Pro 1.83 ghz Mac OS X (10.4.5)I'm having the same problem. Opening Safari with Rosetta does not help. The MySpace player is still not working. It worked perfectly on the PB. I also can no longer view video clips using Windows Media Player on my MBP. I thought the Rosetta thing was supposed to allow you to do **** like you could on the PB. I'm getting frustrated and no one so far has been able to help me.

Playback not working in Audition CC
I have creative cloud and am trying to use audition after being a ProTools user for a long time.
I am running it on a Mac OS 10.9.5.
When I press play the playhead does not move and no audio can be heard but the play button lights up green. This is in both the multitrack and waveform views.
I tried using my M Audio Ozone sound card and thought maybe it was not compatible so removed it and tried to switch back to the core built in audio that I had working before (although not ideal for my set up).
In the audio hardware settings I have selected core audio and built in Output but in the audio channel mapping section it still seems to think the default output device is the m-audio driver and says "Unknown - device query failed" It also says the input device is built-in microphone but again has a device query failed message.
I have tried restarting the machine a couple of times and get a message to say the audio hardware settings have changed but can not get the built in device back in the audio channel mapping section.
How can I get audition to playback at all in any way please?
Thanks,I've used the Ozone with Audition in the past (we're talking about the keyboard/audio combo device, right?) and it's been fine. If you're seeing the playhead move and the level meters update when attempting to play through it, that means the communication should be there.
Any chance you can show us screenshots of the "Audio Hardware" and "Audio Channel Mapping" panels in the preferences dialog? That might help get started. -
I am using Adobe Premiere Elements 8, but I had the same problem with version 7.
I can get video, still image, and audio assets into the project. I can also move these assets into the timeline. I can even add a transition between clips.
I can move the time back and forth and see how the transition would look, but I can not play a preview of the movie.
I have tried to have just audio, just still images, just titles, but still have not been able to preview video in the project.
I have 3GB of ram and plenty of HD space. I believe the processor is 2.2 GHz.
Is there any sort of test that Premiere can run to inform me of problems with my setup, or something that would show me?
Has anyone else had this problem?Ok,
Still having problems. I just wonder if there is some setting I am missing.
I went to this page...
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/515/cpsid_51526.html
and worked thru the steps.
1.Make sure that the system meets the minimum requirements for Adobe Premiere Elements 8.
My system meets the requirements. I even downloaded a special tool to make sure my processor has SSE2 capability.
I have a 3 Ghz, 3 GB of RAm machine with 10 gig left for scratch space.
I thought my video card might be underpowered, so I bought a new one. The system came with integrated video. I just bought a 256 MB card. I tried the card with one monitor at first and now am running two displays at 1024 by 768.
2. Render all effects, transitions, and titles in the Timeline. I do this. I notice that when a put in new still images, the bar above them appears red at first and then will turn green. If it is not turning green, I hit return and then see it turn green.
It is interesting that I can scroll thru the timeline and see my pictures and videos and titles. I can also create a avi file and see everything just fine.
3. Switch the GPU playback option. - Tried this both ways. No difference.
4. Disable video overlay in Adobe Premiere Elements. - I don't have an external monitor to view projects, so I do not think this applies. However, I tried it both ways without success.
5. Disconnect all peripheral devices except the digital video device. Did this, no difference.
6. Optimize the project settings. - Well, I didn't check this out, but I have the problem even if I just put in a short title and 5 pictures.
7. Test digital video playback in a third-party digital video utility. Did not do this. I have the problem without any video in it.
8. Update the video card driver. I installed this fresh from the manufacturer.
9. Check for device driver problems. Did not notice any.
10. Disable non-essential startup items and services. I did this. I have done this before, but I rechecked this.
11. Test playback on an external device. Can't do this on the machine where I am testing.
12. Test the hard disk performance. I will check this out soon. But I thought that this would work if I had done the rendering.
13. Optimize hard disks. - I have done this.
14. Create an AVI file of the Adobe Premiere Elements project before exporting it to a device. I have created an AVI and it works fine.
Thanks -
Video preview/playback not working
I am a new premier elements 8 user.
I've captured some video from my camera using a firewire connection.
When I try to play back the video, I get a frozen image in the preview. Every once in a while I might get a different image, but it's mostly frozen.
I've updated quicktime to the latest. I've updated my nvidia drivers to the latest. I've run windows update. Premier elements has been updated. Everything (that I can tell) is up to date.
My PC is running Windows 7 64-bit, 6 GB RAM, AMD Athlon II X4 630.
The video file noted above can be played back in windows media player, windows movie maker, cyberlink power director (free version, came with the new PC), all without issues.
In fact, any video I try to load (all captured using a slightly older PC, using Pinnacle) has the same problem, so I'm thinking it's not related to one codec or the other, because it seems different types of capture encoding show the same problem when played back.
I've tried disabling and re-enabling the GPU usage setting under preferences; no diff.
I've tried contacting Adobe support, read through several KB articles, I'm running out of patience.
Any ideas?
--JSMy audio drivers have been updated.
I've tried capturing using all 4 dv project presets. When I select DV PAL Std 48khz (which is not the default nor is it the type of camera I have since I live in the US), I get an error message stating something about a potental quality issue because the method doesnt match the source, however after capturing via that method, the video plays back.
g-spot states that I have the proper codecs. The video clips I was capturing previously show that I have the proper codecs installed and play without issue (including the audio) in g-spot. When I capture using the NTSC project settings, the video codec in use shows as codec "dvsd" and name "DVC/DV/Video" and format NTSC. The audio codec is "PCM Audio". If I capture using the PAL project settings, the video codec does not change however the format still shows NTSC.
I've noticed that when I capture using the NTSC method, I have an error message at the bottom of the premeir elements screen. There's a little red X and next to it reads "Display performance will be poort due to incorrectly oeprating graphics card or driver!". Note that I previously updated the drivers for the nvidia chipset on my system, I've run an HP diagnostic for the video chipset which passes with no trouble reports, and multiple video codecs/containers play back without issue using windows media player, quicktime, pinnacle studio, and windows movie maker.
So... I'm still having the same problem. When I set up a project using the proper method and the proper formats, the captured video does not play back in premier elements 8.
At this point I have two problems....
1) I cannot view captured video, or any other video, unless there's a hack in place by capturing via the PAL project pre-settings; using premier elements on my pc.
2) Why does this workflow and asset work in 3 other editors on my system, and why does the asset play back in at least 3 other viewers on my system, but with premeir elements I cannot simply preview captured video?
Any help or additional guidance is appreciated. I feel like I'm spending way to much time trying to get a simple process to work properly.
