Merge 2 libraries together

I have 2 different Itunes libraries on the same computer. I want to merge the smaller library with the larger one and also bring over the playlists from the smaller library. Many of the artists and albums are the same in both libraries. Will the import function overlay the existing duplicate albums or will the dups be added? Or how can I accomplish this?
Thanks in advance.

If you don't get an answer here, post the question in the iPhoto discussion here.

If you have two iTunes accounts by accident (one iPhone and one Computer...) how can you merge them together into one account?

The simple answer is that you cannot.  Try contacting the store support staff and see what they can do to help: http://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html

Go to the Music section of your Library (very top-left corner) and see if your songs are there. The "Purchased" playlist may have been deleted or gotten corrupted, but if that happens it's not a big deal because your music should still be in your main Music Library.
If your music is NOT in the Music section of your Library, then go to the iTunes Store homepage and find the Quick Links list on the right side. At the top of that list, click Purchased and you can redownload all of your previous content that you might have lost.

  • HT1229 How can i combine two iPhoto libraries together?

    Hi all,
I am just transferring all my music and photos new a new computer and have photos in two separate libraries. Is there an easy way to combine these?
One is a folder from pre '08 and the other is a package from post '08.
Any assistance would be great. Thanks

    Not really
You did not merge libraries - you now have one version of the photos in the old library with some (probably not all) metadata  - the only possible ways to actually merge iPhoto libraries is using Aperture or IPLM - exporting is not an option to merge libraries - it is a way to include a selected version of a photo in another library

  • If i have 2 apple i.d.s both me, one linking to my computer and itunes, and the other to my phone can i merge these together?

if i have 2 apple i.d.s both me, one linking to my computer and itunes, and the other to my phone can i merge these together?
i havent used my computer in two years. in that time i recently got a iphone4s and started another apple id.
i just set up my computer and my itunes on my computer has a different id. is it possible to merge these as one? the itunes on my computer has a no longer working email as well.
so if i go to change the info on that to my current email it obviously wont let me because it is registered to "someone" else... ME..
so is there any way to make the one on my computer the current one i have on my phone so i dont loose ALL my music from my computer??

Sorry, but Apple IDs cannot be merged. You can, however, use more than one Apple ID/iTunes Store account on your computer and hence on your iPhone. If you've forgetten the password to your older ID, see:
    http://iforgot.apple.com
once you get in, you can change the email address associated with that ID so that receipts and such are emailed to a current address.

  • Is there a way to merge videos together with AME, or with other Adobe product(s)?

Ideally, I would like to import three videos into the Adobe Media Encoder for re-encoding and merge them together into only one resulting video file.  Is this possible?

It's currently not possible to do this directly in AME. You'd have to put the clips together in a Premiere sequence or AfterEffects comp and export that sequence/comp to AME. I'm not sure which other apps allow you to essentially stitch together separate clips.

  • Merging clips together

I imported 3 separate clips into Imovie. They are actually 3 different commercials i shot. I want to merge them together so i can upload i file to the internet. it doesnt have to have a transition or anything between spots.
I put them in the timeline where it said to drag them but the playhead stops after the first 30 seconds and doesnt continue to play the other 2?
    thanks
    steve

    Hello Stephen,
did you maybe select the first clip, and then hit play? If you select a single clip iMovie will play only that one.

  • Why is aperture not importing merged libraries as projects

    Hi Everyone:
I'm trying to move a large library of RAW files to another library on the same machine.  I tried exporting the whole library but there were a lot of corrupted files (or at least they had the yellow triangles on them), and when I selected all and asked it to locate referenced files, it said there were none, even though it had over 1000.
So I decided to export/import piecemeal and do it project by project.  So what I've been doing is exporting a project as a library, switching libraries, and selecting a project to import to and then clicking import.  At first it was working well and importing everything as separate projects, but today I must be doing something wrong or missing a step.
It is now importing the library and dumping it loose in the photos section, and I have to go picking through the photos to find the ones I imported and put them into projects.  This is going to get increasingly more difficult and I really need help... I've been at this now for two days and need to get back out taking pictures...
    Thanks,
    Lisa

    Hi everyone:
Just to add, I already followed these steps and it didn't work...
To merge a project or Aperture library into a project
Control-click a project, then choose Import > Library/Project from the shortcut menu.
In the dialog that appears, select the project or library that you want to merge into the project selected in Projects view, then click Import.
The project or library is merged into the project selected in Projects view. For more information about merging libraries, see Merging Libraries.

  • Merging libraries in iphoto?

How do you merge libraries in iphoto 11?

Open library 1, then file > show in finder > original foto.
Open the other library and drag&drop the photo's from the finder (=other library).
does not mention using the iPhoto application
And even if you do drag the original photos fom one iPhoto library into iPhoto and import them into another library - you are NOT merging libraries - you are import pphotos to a library - none of the version, metadata, albums, etc, etc come over - just the photos which is not the same as merging libraries
The only current solution to merging libraries is the paid version of iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ -

  • Merge libraries

I have iphoto libraries on several harddrives and want to merge them into one. Can't find a solution. Anyone who knows?

iPhoto does not support the merging of libraries, but the utility  iPhoto Library Manager can merge libraries -
    download here: iPhoto Library Manager
Unfortunately, the basic free version will not suffice, you need the paid version.
If you have access to Aperture, you can also use it to merge your libraries (see: Aperture 3.3: How to use Aperture to merge iPhoto libraries), but if you need to buy a tool, iPhoto Library Manager would be the more economic solution, and it is a must-have with iPhoto anyway.

  • Is it possible to merge libraries?

    hi
id like to know if its possible to merge my iPhoto library from my ibook (tiger) to my iPhoto library in my MacMini (panther).
whats the best way i can have all my pics transferred from ibook to macmini (preferably by album).
    thanks for any info.

    Hi Artemis,
Do the two libraries share some of the same images?
Are you running the same version of iPhoto?
Do you want to keep keywords, albums, comments intact on the merge?
Depending on how you answer the questions there is a different route you can follow.
If you just want albums from the PB to import into the mini and don't care about keywords, etc.:
Highlight the album in the source column and select all
    hit Share/export
Export to a newly created folder on the desktop
Once all albums are exported copy them over to the mini desktop or burn them to a DVD.
    Open iPhoto on the mini
drag the album folders into an open iPhoto viewing window.
If you have any images that are the same in both of the libraries, you might get duplicates imported, so you will have to wade through them to delete the dups.
    To merge the libraries:
Copy the Entire iPhoto Library folder to the mini
Download and pay for iPhoto Library Manager
Follow directions in the documentation to merge libraries.
    iPhoto Library Manager
    iPhoto Library Manager documentation
this page will show you everything you can do with iPhoto Library Manager.
Are you using the same username on both computers?

  • DeDup merged Libraries

I'm looking for workflow advice or tips to use iPhoto as the application of choice to manage my photos (20,000+ counting duplicates). I've read though or listened to tutorials on iPhoto and have a fair working knowledge of computers and shared applications.
I switched over to apple a couple of years ago. This switch left windows folders of photos on my work computers, home computers, laptops and phones. There are more than one because as our kids grew up and left home they left many photos on our file servers scattered all over.  At work and home, many times our kids would just hand me a thumb drive/cd with photos which I promptly dumped into a folder and imported into iPhoto later on the nearest computer.
Now, I'd like to reclaim wasted space by deleting these scattered folders once I know they have been imported to iPhoto.
I'm using Drop Box as the place for the "default merged library" so I can access the same library or libraries from multiple locations.  I will be the only person to use the Drop Box so I'm not concerned about multiple users of the same database.
I've used "Library Manager" to merge libraries from different computers and preserve the meta data, tags, edited versions, etc.
One main issue, is the vast number of duplicates I'm discovering and how to trim these from the main library.  I have started using additional libraries to help break apart the huge single mass into smaller more manageable bites but this just helped uncover more duplicates.
Are there any shortcuts to help discover and remove duplicates?  Automated tools or scripts?  Can I safely remove all the old folders once I see the photo in iPhoto?  If I import the same folder twice from two different computers it does not always obey the "do not import duplicates" check box as the clocks may not have been the same when the photos were loaded on the computer originally. Any ideas about how to compensate for these duplicates and save time is appreciated. Recommendations about sensible ways to use multiple libraries would help too.
End goal is to have a single set of iPhoto libraries, without duplicates, stored on Drop Box from which I can export albums/events to family and friends via a web link. I would only like the photo image stored and taking up space without the worry about files, file folders and sub structures.
    Thanks,
    pblpup

    Couple of comments:

We ran some experiments here a while back to see if we could sync Libraries back and forth with Drop Box and they were corrupted in the process.
iPhoto needs to have the Library sitting on disk formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled). While the DropBox folder on your machine is on a Disk with the correct format, the one on the DropBox server isn't.  And to get to the other machine the Library spends time there.
Are you running a Managed or a Referenced Library?
A Managed Library, is the default setting, and iPhoto copies files into the iPhoto Library when Importing. The files are then stored in the Library package
A Referenced Library is when iPhoto is NOT copying the files into the iPhoto Library when importing because you made a change at iPhoto -> Preferences -> Advanced. (You unchecked the option to copy files into the Library on import) The files are then stored where ever you put them and not in the Library package. In this scenario you are responsible for the File Management.
If you're running a Managed Library then yes, you can delete the files from the Finder after importing.
For dealing with duplicates in iPhoto check out Duplicate Annihilator

  • Why do I get a conversion failure every time when I try to merge documents together???

Why do I get a conversion failure every time when I try to merge documents together???

    Hi mdrhine,
I'm sorry that you've been unable to merge files. Let's see what we can figure out.
Are you unable to merge any files? How large are the files that you're trying to merge, and how many are you trying to merge at once?
If you're merging more than a few files, or those files are particularly large, ttry merging those files in smaller batches. If one or more files is causing the conversion failure, merging in smaller batches should help you isolate the problematic file or files.
I look forward to hearing back from you with some details about the files that you're trying to merge.
    Best,
    Sara

  • HT1229 How do I merge Libraries

Does anyone know if it is possible to merge libraries or must you extract the photos from one Library and import to another Library

Sure - with APerture or the paid version of iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ -  - it is not a feature of iPhoto

  • How do I merge libraries?

Does anybody know how to merge libraryies other than in IPLM??
That program for some reason doesn't work on this computer - and they have been unable to help me.
Basically when I open the program and add the libraries I want to merge I get two error messages:
"I Photo is not responding to requests for data"
    and..
"IPhoto is not responding to commands being sent by iphoto Library Manager.."

If you have Aperture 3.3 or later and iPhoto 9.3 or later you can merge libraries with Aperture.
Otherwise the only way to merge Libraries is with the paid ($20) version of iPhoto Library Manager
The messages you are getting sound more like an issue with your Library.
There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • Can Adobe read specific text from Excel and merge them together?

I have a catalog in PDF format with thousands of part numbers.  I want to be able to click on each part number and be directed to a specific web page.  All web pages will be different.  I know how to do this ONE at a time but that would be too time consuming and not something my company would be willing to do.  I have an Excel spreadsheet with the part numbers listed in one column and the URL's in one and a column of them as hyperlinks already.  Is it possible for Adobe to match the part numbers from both files and merge them together?
    Thanks!
    Amanda

The part numbers will all be together but most have alot of dashes and some are very long.   Here are 3 examples.  Alot of them are this size, some much larger but they are all together on one line.
    CV-LED-W
    SDOP-LED-2M
    SIF-232
