Restore your backup - the reason you have a backup is to recover from errors made by software, hardware and humans - use it
Short of that the best you can do is use the autosplit selected event command in iPhoto

  • I am moving all my iphoto pictures to seperate folders outside of iphoto.  I have found iphoto slighlty cumbersome.  After I move all pictures from iphoto to a separate file how can I delete all the iphoto photos without deleting the ones in the file?

I am moving all of my iphoto pictures into seperate folders becuase iphoto is great, but a bit cumbersome when I need to transfer all the pictures to a external drive.
    1) After I move all pictures, how can I delete the iphoto pictures without destroying the ones I have in files
    2) how can I ensure that I have sucessfully captures all the iphoto files so when I delelte from iphoto I have not forgotten any
    3) is there a way to determine what duplicate pictures I have?
    Thanks!

If you Control click on the iPhoto Library, you'll see a list of folders - one named "Masters". Inside of this folder are all of your original, high-res photos. You can copy them to other folders if you like.
You can't delete iPhoto pics without deleting the ones in the iPhoto Library.
You can copy all of your Masters pics out of the Library, ensuring that you won't forget any.
I don't know of anyway to determine if there are duplicate photos - most (if not all) have a unique name assigned.
    Good luck,

  • Upgraded to Iphoto 9.5 now all my photos are in one event - Help please

I upgraded to iphoto 9.5.1 with the Mavericks update. Now all my photos (8,217) are in one event. I spent hours breaking them down into different events and now it's back to one. I tried repairing and rebuilding the database per other forum discussions but nothing changes.
I'd love some advice on how to re-organize the photos without having the manually recreate all the events.
    Thank you!

Thank you. All my event headings are gone but at least it's separated by date.
I followed the instruction from some other discussion threads, held down option + command and tried the options to fix the library that way - it didn't make a difference.
Thank you for your help. Guess I better but everything in albums since those are still ok.

  • ALL pictures in iPhoto *and* PhotoBooth are gone :(  please help

    Hello,
I have a bit of a dilema here. On 6-27-07 (actually 6-28 cause it was after midnight), my daughter and I were taking pictures in photobooth. I selected the iPhoto icon from the PhotoBooth picture to send a copy of those pictures to iPhoto.
PhotoBooth froze up after doing several of them and wouldn't work. I am trying to remember from memory (which is swiss cheese from the MS), but I think I had to do a hard shut down. When I tried to go to iPhoto, it acted like it was my 1st time using it and it began asking me questions as if I was setting it up for the 1st time. ALL pictures are GONE. Everything in iPhoto and PhotoBooth are GONE I don't know what I did or how (if I can) to fix it.
Can anyone possibly help me? Lots of precious memories gone. I was recently going to read how to do a back-up right before this happened. Now I wish I hadn't gone to sleep that night until I learned how to do it and actually did make a back-up
My husband called Apple and they told him to do something and now that has created approximately 3 copies of random pics and not all of them, or I would just delete the extras. My husband may have done something wrong to have it make extra copies of the pictures it has now, I don't know.
My husband didn't seem like he was happy with the help that he was getting at the time. So, I found my way here again!!! I have been to the discussions boards once before, but I forgot how to get here (serious swiss cheese memory from MS). I have to save ALL websites that I like to my favorites or I should say 'Bookmarks' or I will probably never find it again. <embarassed>
**I will tell you a little about me and the use of my mac....... I have Multiple Sclerosis so my husband purchased the lap top to make it easier for me to get online and not be stuck to one chair which makes me hurt bad. I am new to Mac and have always used a PC.
Anyway, when we purchased it we explained that I would mainly be using it for Internet use and for the pictures that I take (I am disabled, so that is about all I can do but I thoroughly enjoy it), which happens to be more than the average person since I have a new Grandson
Any help that anyone can give me, I would TRULY APPRECIATE!!!!!!
    Thanks,
    New2Him

    Brenda,
    You're quite welcome.
That does sound like your original library. It makes sense to me; your husband was probably told to drag it to the Desktop by the Apple help desk person. Look inside your Pictures folder for the other two iPhoto Library folders. If you don't find them there, do another Finder Search. Click once on a found item in the Search window to see its path at the bottom of that window. That should help you locate those folders.
After you find and rename or delete the other libraries, you will be ready to create a new library. (You might not want to delete those other folders yet - in case some photos are missing from your main library. But if you are sure that nothing in them is original, go ahead and Trash them to free up the space.)
To create a new library, Option-launch iPhoto and click "Create Library." By default it will be located in your Pictures folder and named "iPhoto Library." You can change the name if you want - say, "iPhoto Library New" before you click "Save." A new, empty library will open. Drag the right corner of the window up so that it fills only about half of your screen. Do iPhoto > Preferences > Advanced and make sure that there IS a check in the boxes beside "Copy files to iPhoto Library folder when importing to library" and "Add ColorSync Profile".
On the other half of your screen, open a Finder window. Set it to column view and navigate this path: Desktop/ iPhoto Library/ Originals/ 2007/ (Film Roll folders). It is these Film Roll folders that contain your photos. Select all of the Roll folders and drag them as a group over the iPhoto window until the cursor shows you a green plus symbol. Drop them in the main viewing area of the iPhoto window. iPhoto will indicate to you that it is importing. A film roll will be created for each folder that you dragged. [Tip: if you want an Album to represent each film roll, then drag them to the Source Pane (left column) instead of the main viewing window. This will create an Album and a film roll, both with the same name as the imported folder.]
I have read that the film roll date can be wrong after importing, so you may want to check the dates as you go. Open the Info Pane in the lower left corner of the iPhoto window (click the little i). When you select a Roll, its info will display in the Info Pane. You can edit the Roll's title and date, if you wish.
When the 2007 rolls have all been imported, switch to the Originals/ 2006 folder, select the roll folders, and drag to your iPhoto window. Repeat for each year in your Desktop library.
This will recover your Original, unedited photos in the same film rolls as before. What cannot be saved is your Albums, Slideshows, Books, titles, keywords, ratings, and other metadata. These were contained in the database file that was damaged during the iPhoto hang or subsequent hard shut down.
If you had spent significant time editing your photos, then you may want to have a look in Desktop/ iPhoto Library/ Modified to see if you wish to save any of the edited versions. There is no way to reconnect the edits with their Originals; that info was also stored in the database file. But if you want to import them to your library you may. Be aware that this will cause the appearance of duplication, much like you had in the library your husband created. If you can part with your edited versions, then it is much easier to discard them. (If not, be selective.)
I'll look forward to hearing your progress. Regards,
    Shelly

  • How merge all .js peoject files to one?

Is it possible to put all animation *.js file in one when i publish my project? I mean merge *_edgeActions.js , *_edge.js and , *_edgePreload.js to one *.js file. How can i do it?

I just double-checked to make sure, and no. There is no way to attach another document to what you are sending. You would have to combine the documents to get them to fax together. Alternately, since you are working with PDF files and will need a paid for version of a PDF reader to do this, you can copy and paste the contents of each PDF you want to send into a Word document. That will get everything sent in one fax, and prevent you from having to pay for extra software. You may have to do a little formatting to make things look right, but it will work. Hope that helps.

  • Aperture Not Seeing All Pictures in IPhoto Folder to Import

    Ok- Another question...
I tried importing a folder or event from IPhoto into Aperture and there are 124 pictures in the IPhoto folder, including jpeg and raw photos. Aperture only sees 3 of them... do I need to change some setting somewhere??
    thanks,
    Georgette

Thanks for the tip about hiding the movies.
To make this easier try the following:
Create a new smart folder in iPhoto called Movies, set the match to "Photo is Movie".
This will allow you to select all movies in one go, you can then hide them, import the photos you need into Aperture.
Use "cmd Z" to undo the hide as you can't unhide the movies from the smart folder as it appears empty.
I have just done the above and saved myself loads of time as I started splitting the movies out of the events I wanted to import, which defeats the object of events.
I too will be sending feedback to Apple over this as this is definitely a bug. The import dialogue should just display the photos and ignore the movies.
    Regards

  • How to make a mass copy of all pictures from iphoto?

I bought new IMac and I have a lot o pictures in my old Imac. How to make a mass copy or transfer so files will sorted as they are in old IMac Iphoto?

Are the photos on the old iMac in iPhoto?  If so just connect the two Macs together and copy the iPhoto Library from the old iMac to the Pictures folder of the new iMac.
If you already have an iPhoto library with photos in it on your new iMac be sure to rename the old library to something else so it won't overwrite you new library.
If you want to merge the two libraries into one library either the latest verson of Aperture or the paid version of  iPhoto Library Manager can be used.

  • Help - 2nd user account cannot see all pictures in iPhoto library

For some reason, if my son logs into his account and brings up iPhoto, he can only see images through 2009. I'm lost on this one. Any ideas to try? Thanks!

Figured this one out the more I looked at it - bottom line is the other account was somehow still pointing at an old library on an external HD. That's not really what I was wanting though.
I've posted my need as a separate topic here- please advise. Thanks!

  • Merge all my Apple IDs into one so that Itunes doesn't have more then one..

You can't merge your IDs they are separate. You should pick the one you like best and use that for everything.

  • Merging multiple iphotos into one

Over the past two Macs (a MacMini and my current MacBook Pro) and multiple backups made on the Mini without Time Machine, I have a grand total of 11 seperate iPhoto Albums, with one being my current since I have my MacBook Pro iPhoto set so it is on my backup drive instead of my laptop itself which frees up a lot of space. I want to merge all of my Albums into one. How do I do that?
    Thanks!

  • Can you stop iphoto from making 'events'

    Hi,
I dont really understand why Iphoto places all your photos into different sections depending on the day the photo was taken..
I just imported all my photos from my iphone, and now I have 1000's of different events with 2-3 photos each in them, making the screen look very messy, unorganised and hard to search through.
Is there a way to just simply display all of the photos at once without silly little 'events' for every single day?
    Thanks

On Saturday I go to a wedding and take lots of piccies, on Sunday I go for a walk with friends to blow the hang-over away, on Monday I take my camera to work to take some pictures of the presentationsome colleagues give in the afternoon.
That is o.k., as long related pictures have been taken consecutively.  If you are working at three projects simultaniously and are shooting the photos in the same place at the same time, you may want another organization, for example, you spend three days in a city to take pictures for a book on fountains, a book on churches, and a book on birds. The photos will be mixed and not separated by time. I dove sitting on a fountain in front of the church would be needed for all three projects. iPhoto's daily events will not reflect the projects you are working on. The name "shoot" for the photos taken on one day would be more meaningful than "event" in this case.
