Merge/combine video files. help

I have quite a few files that I would like to merge into one big file. I already downloaded Prism Video Converter to convert the files, but now I'm not sure how to combine them into one. On the main download page for Prism Video Converter is says that you will be able to combine many files into one. Well I've looked through a lot and really can't figure out where/how to do this. The provider of Prism isn't even giving many any answers and won't unless I pay; but the catch is it didn't say I'd have to pay to combine files. What can I do?
Is there a better program to use? I am not really concerned with a cost, free would be nice, but it isn't necessary. I just want to be sure my quality stays in good shape.
Thanks.

I know QT player will play AVI when Perian codecs are installed. I also know my ancient version of QT Pro will edit .mov. I can't guarantee anything but I think getting Quicktime Pro might let you do what you want to do. I don't have any version of QT Pro more recent than about 1997.
Edit:
QT Sync is a freeware utility that has a combine movies tool. I haven't used it so I don't know how successful it is. You might give it a try (and report back here ).
AVIs might present problems. AVI is a container so it doesn't have a rigid set of formats for the enclosed tracks. AVI often has mp3 as the audio format which is not something used by Macs for audio with video. I can't speak from experience but it wouldn't surprise me if you couldn't find an editor to accept AVI with mp3 audio. One thing to check though is MPEGstreamclip. I notice my copy had an additional feature for letting you save AVIs from Quicktime Pro.
If you are trying to play a group of videos then one solution might be not to edit them but to use a player that will string together a set of videos when playing. Maybe something like NicePlayer might help.

  • Sound but no Video when trying to play video files - HELP!

I am trying to play video files via Elements Organizer. In this case it is .MOV files. The new screen pops up but all I get is the sound and no video. I have downloaded the newest quicktime player but it did not help. Any ideas?

    Hi,
What happens when you play the same file outside Organizer?

  • Mountain Lion combines video files from an external SDHC memory card.

    Hi there!
I just installed Mountain Lion and was very surprised to discover when inserting a memory card from my digital camera (not direct camera to Mac but through the direct slot on the MBP) that all videos I took where combined in one single - huge - Quicktime file.
Clicking on it gives me an "Open Clip" window where I can launch individual video snippets. However several of these Massive files don't even work... (Upon clicking it gives me a "Could not complete operation" covered by a forever-lasting loading icon... (which never loads).
I'm wondering if it's a feature that can be switched off?
I haven't experimented yet, but would hate that the Mac sees all videos as a combined file, and maybe confuse the digital camera writing mode when I put the card back in the camera.
    Any feedback is appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Thanks David,
    You're right - it's MTS files.
I had previously found the 'show package contents' right click but it doesn't seem to work consistently.
i.e. On one 'source' it works, on another it loads a blank page. When I access the second source on an older Mac (non-mountain Lion) it reads about 30 MTS video files which all work properly.
I really don't understand the logic in combining several hundred video files & create a composite huge file.
Either way - thanks for your valuable suggestion!

      Windows XP

    from a post from monkeyboy67:
Hopefully in answer to the many posts on “how to get various video formats onto your iPod” I have put together a summary of applications I use. I have tried a few others with varying amounts of success (some of which are free) - I have finally plumped for the software produced by Xilisoft as providing good quality video relatively affordable cost for use with PC’s and numerous MS operating systems. The link below takes you to their site which not only allows you to download trail versions of their software but also has a comprehensive set of tutorials and FAQ's for their iPod video conversion software.
I have regularly used these applications to convert various file formats to iPod friendly video. They are simple to use although frequently processor and RAM hungry:
Use Xilisoft iPod Video Converter if you want to:
[*]Convert various video file formats to MP4
[*]Convert most audio file formats to MP3
[*]Extract audio from video file and save to MP3
    [*]Encode several files simultaneously
[*]Pause encoding process to run other CPU time consuming programs at any time
    Supported file formats:
    Video:
    [*]MPEG(mpg, mpeg, dat, vob); WMV; ASF; AVI; QuichTime(mov, qt); MPEG4(mp4); 3GP; DV(dv,
    dif); Real Video(rm); Animated GIF(gif - decoding only); Macromedia Flash(swf - decoding
    audio only);
    Audio:
[*]MPEG Audio(mp2, mp3); WMA; WAV; AU; MPEG4 Audio(m4a); Real Audio(ra); OGG; AAC; Raw
    AC3(ac3); NUT Open Container Format(nut);
To convert DVD's to an iPod friendly video format:
Use Xilisoft DVD to iPod V4:
[*]Just pop the DVD in your drive select compression variables (default settings work well) and sit back!
All these products are available on a "try before you buy basis", yes there are applications for XP which are free but and may work just as well but I have converted many hours of video for my iPod without hassle using the Xilisoft products (no I don't work for them!). • Trouble exporting video files HELP!

I have a few Flash animation projects that I want to put on
my demo reel, but I can't get the animations in a usable format.
The bulk of the animation is a walk cycle in a movie clip. Of
course, when I hit play in flash, I see frame one of the movie clip
standing there for 16 frames, then it skips forward and stands over
there for 16 frames, then it skips forward, but the whole animation
plays smoothly when I export the .swf file.
However, whenever I try to export a video file all I get is
this useless frame one skip that you see when you hit play in
Flash. Anyone know how I can fix this? Are there video editing
programs that will take .swf files?
So far I've tried exporting into .avi and .gif.
Whenever I try exporting to .mov, I get this message.
"The installed version of Quicktime does not have a handler
for this type of flash movie. Please consult the documentation for
    further information."

There are a couple of things you can try. None great but most
will do. First, make sure you have the latest version of Quicktime
installed. If you can afford it buy the Pro version. Its pretty
cheap and you won't regret it. It makes converting all sorts of
    files simple.
Second. I'm not sure what version of Flash you are using. The
older versions of Flash were pretty crappy at exporting video.
Flash CS3 Professional is little better but its something. Anyway,
if you don't have this download the 30day demo and give exporting
.mov from Flash CS3 a shot (after you install the latest version of
    Quicktime)
Another thing you can try do is use a screen capture software
such as SnagIt or CaptureWiz. They will allow you to capture your
Flash movie as video and both have demos you can try before you
    buy.
And one other thing I have done to capture my Flash files,
which works great, is to capture my screen to video. If you have
the capability to export your monitor to video or better yet a
firewire videocam and then someway to edit it your Flash to video
life will be easy as pie.
    Good luck

  • Compressing large video files - help!

I have about 114GB of video files on my hard drive, and with only 250GB of HD I was wondering how I can compress the files and not lose quality. Is there any software out there, preferably free, or is using the built-in compression option the best?

    Hi gaz_reid;
It is now time for you to decide to either get rid of some files or get a more disk space with an external hard drive or larger internal drive.

  • Combined Video Files are 3gb - DVD is Full - Help?

    Hi there,
I am trying to author a simle DVD using Encore.
My combined mpg's (10 in total) are approx 3gb in volume - i have imported them as time lines.
I have a psd menu that i created in photoshop, which is less than 1mb, and i have a song which is 3mb.
When i try and build this project  it tells me that my disc is full and does not have enough room (blank DVD-R, 4.7gb) - apparently i need 5.3gb.
Can anyone help me out here - im new to DVD authoriing etc and i have no idea where this hike in data volume has come from.
    kindest regards,
    Neil

    Hi there,
firstly many thanks for all your replies.
The videos were exported from Premiere as MPEG2-DVD (see last image below)
I can confirm, there is no additional ROM content (that I am aware of and I think I have checked). The audio file is mp3 and transcode settings have been set to "do not transcode"
What I have now done is start a new project, and take screen captures along the way - i have only used one of my video's. When looking at the file size in both windows explorer and encore project panel - it is 184.9mb.
When looking a the amount of data used on my DVD (on the build screen) - it shows as 409.7mb used (minus 526kb reserved for ROM content - which i have not added),
Its a strange one Please see my screen captures to see if this can hel pyou shed any light on the matter.
    many thanks,
    Neil

  • Video file help for Adobe Premiere Elements 7

    Hello,
I am not a technical person so I don't really understand all the "big words" per se.
I got my movies converted to a DVD from a company and they sent it to me in an mp4 format which I thought I could just import into Premiere and start to edit.  Well that didn't work.  Trying to figure out how to import it so I could edit it.  I know if I convert it through something the quality will go down.
I don't know anything about codecs but it says the Video Codec is LEAD H264 Decoder (3.0) and the Audio codec is LEAD AAC Decoder.
Hope that helps and someone out there could help me.
    Stacy

    Stacy
Given you have files with .mp4 file extensions on a DVD disc for storage purposes.
And, you want to use these files in a Premiere Elements 7 Windows project. What do you
    mean by
I thought I could just import into Premiere and start to edit.  Well that didn't work.
    How did it not work?
    a. When you opened Premiere Elements 7 and went to Get Media/Files and Folders/ did you
get an error message that prevented you from going further?
    b. If you imported your file into Organize/Media, did you have a problem after you dragged your video to the Timeline view Timeline or the Sceenline view Filmstrip?
    or
    c. Was the issue some place else?
Backing up a little, how did you attempt to import the .mp4 from the DVD disc to Premiere Elements 7?
    a. Copy file from disc and paste to desktop from where you used Premiere Elements Get Media/Files and Folder?
    b. User Premiere Elements 7's Get Media/"DVD(Camcorder or PC DVD Drive)"/Adobe Premiere Elements - Media Downloader?
Once we sort out the above, then I would like to learn more about the properties of your files. Right now we know only that they are .mp4 files that use video compression = LEAD H.264 and audio compression = LEAD AAC. Do you know what we have here...720 x 480 4:3 or 720 x 480 16:9 Widescreen or something else?
Please review the above and do not hesitate to ask for clarification on anything written.
At this point, I am not sure if the problem is related to how you imported that video into Premiere Elements 7 or the properties of the video itself (original or some possible modification of the original).
    Please review and consider.
    Thank you.

  • Merge two iCal files- Help

I have two Macs, a desktop and a Macbook air. The desktop had a problem which kept it off line for quite a while. It is now working. I wanted to merge several years worth of old iCal information onto my Macbook Air calendar, which has only recent and future appointments.  I exported the deskto iCal information into a .icbu file. When I tried to import it into my Macbook Air calendar, I got a warning the the current info would be replaced.
Any ideas how to do a clean merger?  There would be few, if any duplicate events.
    Thanks

    Randy,
Use Calendar>File>Export>Export...on the desired calendar. This will create a .ics file for the selected calendar.
Transfer the .ics file to your desired computer, double click the .ics file and follow the importing prompts. Make sure you import it into your existing calendar. As you indicated there will be duplicates, but it sounds like you will be able to manage and delete them without consequence.
These comments are made in consideration that you are NOT using iCloud.

  • How to combine discrete audio and video files?

I am working on a project which requires me to merge a video file with a PCM audio file from another source.
I just bought Compressor 4.1.1, expecting to be able to do exactly this.
The only "multiple input - single output" option I can see is creating a surround sound group, adding my audio as left and right channels, and then attaching the video.
This does not work. Pressing "add" at the end of the process does not result in a new job.
    Help please!
    G.

QT7 Pro is able to do this. Cost is $30.
In QT7 Pro, open up the audio and video files to be matched.
Select all the audio and then select copy
In the video window, put the playback head where you want the audio to start then select add to movie.
Verify the playback is as desired, then save the movie. Done.
Takes longer to describe the process than to do it.
    x
Of course, life is good when the in point is exactly the same for both audio and video ...

  • Is it possible to join two video files?

Is there any way i can use mac os to join two AVI files together, and then create a new copy of the combined video to show on my iPad. if i can avoid using iMovie that would be great.
    thanks

As far as i know QuickTime can not support all kinds of AVI, and even it can join AVI files into one, the joined AVI files cannot be imported to iTunes, iPad, iPod, iPhone for playback.
I know a step by step guide on how to merge video files on Mac or Windows
This guide support join all kinds of video and audio formats like  MP4, AVI, MPEG, MPG, VOB, MOV, RM, RMVB, 3GP, ASF, WMV, WTV, DVR, DivX, Xvid, M4V, MKV, FLV, F4V, SWF, WebM, OGV, Apple ProRes, AVCHD, MTS, M2TS, M2T, MXF, MVI, DAT, MOD, TOD, MPV, OGM, MP3, WAV, WMA, M4A, FLAC, M4B, AAC, AC3, APE, AIFF, Apple Lossless ALAC, VOC, QCP, AMR, AWB, DTS, AU, RA, OGG  and etc
And you can join video files as well convert video to other video or audio formats or keep the same video format as the original one.
And you can also merger several video files even they are not in the same video format.
Hope it helps more or less

  • Video Files Import into an IMAC

Can someone lend me their advice ...
I am using a PC and creating a POWERPOINT show ... I have different tools to take this show to convert it into a video file (like MP4 etc).
What Ia m trying to do - is to merge a video file and pictures - the pictures to follow the movie - and throughout this "show" - one MP3 file will be played.
So the questions is - importing a video file into IPHOTO - is this possible - and if so - what is the best file type to convert the PowerPoint into???
Once I am able to create this show - then the plan is to put it into IMOVIE - and cut a DVD ...
Any suggestions - input - ideas - would be greatly appreciated!

Great Guys! Thanks for the advice!
I like using PowerPoint for it's ability to have total control on objects like text and graphics on 1 slide - in a show. Timed to music - it can produce some dramatic affects. I ALSO like the easy ability to take a MP# file -and if I have let's say - 33 pictures - it automatically splits the song equally - to each picture of the show, enabling an easy finish.
What I would LIKE to do - is to use PowerPoint transitioning affects on about the first 7 slides (pictures) - then - take that out as a video file - PULL IT into IPHOTO - then - add the remaining pictures to complete the show - ALL timed to one MP3 file.
Basically - I have other programs that can convert (export) the Powerpoint show (file) to any video output - I just need to know which one would work with IPHOTO. Adding these into IMOVIE - enables me then to cut a DVD, which then can be duped ...
    Make sense???
I SO appreciate your expertise and suggestions as to the file types to use - or anything else you would recommend! THANK YOU!
Again - its the file types that I am seeking advice - that will work with IPHOTO!

  • How can I combine the audio and video files from youtube downloads when they don't automatically combine?

I'm using YouTube Video and Audio Downloader. Sometimes the audio and video files combine automatically, sometimes they don't - remaining as separate " DASH - .m4a and DASH - .mp4 ". It used to be that when this would happen I could open up a "ffmpeg" window which would allow me to "manually" convert them to a combined .mp4 file. It was a "drag and drop" type of interface. For some reason I can no longer access that ffmpeg combining function. I tried clicking on ffmpeg.exe. I tried re-downloading ffmpeg several times, both from the Downloader options tab and from the ffmpeg website.
    Thanks for your help.

Sounds like a question for the developer of the video download add-ons that you have installed.
