Merge HTC

Having a lot of trouble with the Merge HTC.  Now on our 3 Merge replacement in less than one year.  No games are used on this phone.  About 6 to 10 apps are loaded; two email addresses.  Phone continually locks up, screen goes black and sometimes goes white.  Phone turns off on its own.  If you turn the phone off --it takes about 5 to 10 mins. to power up and connect.  You try to text a person and random text pops up with other names, etc.  Phone gets very very hot at times (phone can be sitting on the counter and get very very hot).
Help!!  Verizon suggested that there be no games, no apps at all on this phone. This defeats the purpose of having this phone.  Any suggestions?

I agree I regrettably bought the HTC merge when we switched from T-mobile to Verzion Nov. of last year. First off no one told me that Verzion didn't even want to SELL this phone & hereafter would no longer receive updates from Android. So thanks a ton Verzion for not warning me that the minute I bought my phone it was already obsolete.
Moreover, my phone experiences vasts amounts of issues. Over heating being one, long start ups, claims of Roaming while I'm sitting in the same spot I was 20 minutes ago, turns of & on randomly, does not allow 90% of calls to come through, & I've lost count of the other issues. Doesn't help after my first Merge decide to kick the bucket that the one Verzion send me under warranty was BROKEN! Now I have to pay $100 to have it replaced for damage that wasn't due to my negligence.
I've contacted both HTC & Verizion & got the same message "Sorry we can't do anything." So thanks for the lack of trying

  • I just want to know what specific smart phones that I can purchase that use Firefox. Thanks.

I am purchasing a mobile phone after not having one for five years. I like to use Firefox at home and need to know specifically what smart phones use this product. The android 2.2 etc. and the rest really does not mean anything to me. You could tell me how to find this information on your website. I found one page that listed devices but then it said something about going to Google Play Store and you lost me. FYI, I have a very sharp learning curve.

Will Firefox work on my mobile device? | How to
Will Firefox work on my mobile device?
Firefox is compatible with Android 2.2 and above devices. Installation requires about 24 MB internal storage, 384 MB of RAM and a display that is at least 320 pixels high and 240 pixels wide. You can download Firefox for Android or search for Firefox in the Google Play store.
Important: Some of the devices listed here only work with the latest version of Firefox. If you search for Firefox in the Google Play store and don't find it, your device may not be compatible.

  • Were is the HTC Merge?

Yes I am waiting for a good full real keyboard phone also. The Verizon reps been telling me that do not know if a phone this form factor is coming soon. They are saying that real keyboards phone are not popular. This is not true. Tell them that these phones are popular. Verizon seems to be slow in reacting to the rest of the market. In reference to the HTC merge test phone on the internet. This phone seems to be the ticket for left out slider keyboard users. It that Verizon marketing is only concerned about the want a be Phone Verizon users. Well everybody does not want use touch screen keyboard all the time. If you do a lot of text or e-mailing it drains the battery of a all touch screen. The HTC merge has a very good keyboard compared to the Moto Droid. All over blogs and internet talk reviews are all in agreement that the new Droid falls way short of a functional keyboard. In fact is is horrible. Thats the best that Verizon has to offer, pretty sad marketing. in closing I really what a phone like Merge. I looking right now some place else.

Yes I see this....There are three other carries that are CDMA, Altell and USCellular and Sprint. I hope that Verizon is on this list to get the Merge. It is a nice phone. Verizon seems not response to the market like the rest  carriers. They always late to market. They need to get another marketing department. Well at lease fire the ones that fail to give get marketing advice. If they don't pick up the Merge device and others will. It would be a missed opportunity to go it the right direction. The iphone was late. A failed BB Storm. Verizon buts subpar phones and spend Mega dollars on advertising these subpar phones they need to spend more ad dollars in getting good phones that sell themselves. Then the customer wins also.  I chatted with real people at Verizon, but said I need write on the blogs because they indicated that Verizon review these blogs for ideals. Well they need to see these comments.

  • Multiple Issues with HTC 8X and Verizon Doesn't Care

I have had this phone for three months and had this issue the whole time.  Searched Verizon and Windows forums and found the same thing.  Only Verizon HTC 8X having this issue.  On top of that I am now having hardware issues.  Phone SIM not showing up as connected and have to restart or re-seat the SIM.  Battery life has gone down drastically.  Overnight charge gets me 11 hours tops without using my Data plan with WIFI off and other major apps closed out.  Shouldn't have to do that to utilize features on a smart phone.  As soon as I begin using my data plan the 11 hours is cut in half.  Not to mention if I use the phone for GPS navigation it gets drained in 30 minutes to and hour.  Then the software is now freezing.  Either freezes completly and have to restart or applications i try to open, stall and then go  back to the start menu.  I have to then power off the phone which freezes and 15 minutes later powers off.  3 months into the phones contract.  Ridiculous.  Bought from Letstalk.com and they told me I am SOL.  14 days for return and 30 for exchange.  Go see HTC.  HTC says i'm SOL.  Go to Verizon and get a new SIM.  Factory Reset the device as  well.  If that doesn't help, ship it to us and we will repair.  Are you kidding.  I am a consultant for a major merger and acquisition company that deals with infrastructure practices all day.  Send you my phone for repair on a 3 month old phone.  Are you kidding me.  Finally talked to Verizon.  They are not consciously aware of the HTC 8x missed call three beep scenario when it has been on there forums since December of this year.  With all my issues they told me I'm SOL.  I don't want to send it in for repair.  That is ridiculous.  What will that solve.  A couple of the issues.  What about the three beep issue the has plagued me for months. A refurbished of a different model from two years ago, no thanks.  I received a new phone three months ago.  So you wanna make it my fault and tell me here take an iphone 4 from two years ago from 300 dollars.  I am furious with this and want to proceed with making sure this lack of decent service for an issue like this is resolved and others don't have to face this type of treatment.  I paid good money for a smartphone with reliable service.  So far i'm being told to bend over and take it from everyone.  I feel that the three beep issue alone is a breach of the contract I have with Verizon and I should be able to constitute that right and terminate this disease.

    Hello,
I received my new "reconditioned" phone to replace my 6 month old Droid 4.
The replacement phone only holds a charge for 6 hours or so, with minimal
    use (no internet).
I am VERY unhappy. I left a message with the store employee who helped me
    activate the replacement
phone, but have not heard back. This is really disappointing. I paid a lot
of money AND signed an additional
2 year contract in order to purchase my Droid 4. Now I am stuck with a piece
of junk phone as is my other
employee who has a replaced Droid 4 as well. The store even told me they had
"issues" with this model (battery completely died on my phone 619-XXX-XXXX
    as well as on 760-XXX-XXXX).
We concluded that when both our Droid 4 phones died within a couple of
    months of each other.
AT the very least, we should have our phones replaced with new, so they can
at least hold a charge and be used for
our business as the purpose they were purchased  for.
I would think making this right, since this is quite obviously NOT our fault
would be clear if you expect to retain customers.

  • (alleged) HTC One Upgrade Coming Soon/M8 in the works for 2014

Maybe this is why Version didn't over order or even bother to carry the stealth black HTC One.
It seems that there's something in the works...
An updated One where, "serious internal hardware changes to update the current handset."
    http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/122269-htc-m8-is-2014-s-flagship-handset-but-first-will-be-an-updated-htc-one

HTC even may be looking into merging the Butterfly and One...
    http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/122259-htc-looking-to-merge-one-and-butterfly-plastic-htc-one-incoming
From what I read the new 2014 flagship One could be announced in February (to coincide with Mobile World Congress).
So for those who are waiting for the black HTC One...do we wait a while longer for either the "upgraded" One or just hold out for the all new 2014 model?

    papa_g wrote:
I wouldn't wait for a plastic HTC One, even if it was black.  One of the big selling points to me is the high production value of the physical handset.  If I'm going to spend $600 on something I want it be worth the money from a functional and style standpoint. That's why I'm still holding out.
I know what you mean but then again this may give the option for swappable batteries and or mico mini SD card.

  • I cant figure out why my HTC Droid DNA is no longer recognized by my computer when i hook it up with the USB cable that came with the phone.

I used to be able to just plug in my phone with the USB cable to my Windows 7 computer and browse phone storage with no issues. Now my computer sees it as an android phone but when it tries to automatically install the drivers for my phone on the computer, i get an access denied error message. No option on the phone that i can see that allows me to mount phone as a usb drive. This used to work just fine with nothing more than just hooking up the cable. What gives??

Let's get that access granted again, e_rock_b. The HTC DNA doesn't have a special USB Mass Storage Mode that needs to be turned on. Usually, it's as simple as connecting and browsing http://vz.to/1jktbZD as you mentioned. If your computer is no longer allowing that easy access, try the steps at http://vz.to/1jktvr6.

  • How to make mac address gmail contacts overwrite the ones on my HTC Android phone - I don't want to sync - that makes the phone scramble and overwrite my computer.  I want to remove or correctly overwrite the phone information as I have done with iPad.

Please help - I am beginning to hate google, my android and gmail.  I have just wasted about 5 hours in a futile attempt to try and get my current Mac contacts list on my computer updated to my phone. I'm not that computer literate but I have looked up about google phone accounts, vCards, backing up contact lists, what SD on phones are, and God know what else.  I have searched the internet and tried all sorts of things and I still have a mac with a now correct contact list (after the iPad contacts scrambled it and I spent ages manually correcting them all) and a phone with an outdated contact list.  If you try and sync them the phone wants to overwrite the computer one just like the iPad did (would it be so **** hard to give you a choice on the phone as to which overwrites which!).  After all the  advice on the internet failed, I got the bright idea to completely delete all the ones on the phone and if it was empty of contacts the computer one could be exported to it.  Not as simple as it sounds.  First I backed up (I think) my computer contacts list. Numerous futile attempts to go through the phone options to globally delete all contacts did not work - they gave a warning message and you got to choose whether to continue or not, I did, and it looked like it might be working as it changed to zero data on the phone, but then they all popped back up again from God knows where from, but without their little added bits like pictures of the people.  So, I tried un- syncing the darn phone from  google and then deleting them globally.  That didn't work either.  I tried deleting them  all again and again and google would crash and not let me do it. It is absolutely ridiculous that this is so damned difficult to do (especially if you are not computer savvy) and that you cannot choose which device overwrites which when syncing. I gave up and ticked sync with Google again (not that it appears to do anything to the phone contact list at all).  So after 5 hours I am back to where I started from, with a phone showing all the same  incorrect contacts (but the pictures are back), which wants to overwrite the computer if I try any sort of sync, and no way to fix them except go into each one manually and try and do it - and how long would that take (and I've already wasted hours and hours fixing scrambled contact lists!).  I think I will do a print out of the computer contact list and just carry it around with me like an address book - so much bloody simpler.  So now I have a headache, am fighting an overwhelming urge to hurl the phone at the wall,  hoping for a heat wave to evaporate icloud things and am wishing I had bought an iPhone instead of the stupid HTC Android.  Can any one offer me any suggestions on how to get rid of the contacts on my phone and replace them with the ones in my mac address list - hopefully after that  they can sync to their hearts content and not stuff everything up again (which was why I unsynced google a while back - because the phone's list kept making stuff ups and scrambling and duplicating my computer contacts list).  Am I the only one on the planet having this problem or is there someone else out there who has had it and solved it.

Without "pretending" to be yourself on the other phone (change settings) there's nothing else you can do.

  • Questions on Merging Dis-similar Data Types...

I am using Web-I version 11.5.8.834 (We do not use the Crystal Reports module, all of our reports are built with Web-I).
    I have two questions:
Question 1: First I am attempting to create a report from two different universes and need to merge a dimension from each universe.  The two dimensions have similar data, but one is set up as a "string", and the other universe has the same data set up as a "number".  Our IT department creates and maintains the universes and I have requested that one of the dimension data type be changed to match the other, but I am told that other users have already set up reports using these dimensions and to change them at this point might cause a problem with their reports.  So my first question is: Can two separate dimensions be setup within a single universe, using the same data field, each having different data types (e.g., a field with numeric data be set up as a "string" and a second dimension be setup as a "number")?  If this works, I can make a recommendation to our IT department to do this and I will not have to resort to Question 2.  but just in case, here is Question 2:
Question 2: I have two other dimensions that I might be able to use, but it requires creating a variable and "trimming" data off of each of the fields.  The first universe is a part number with three alpha characters followed by four numeric characters (PRT1234).  The second universe has a serial number, in which the first four characters match the last four characters of the other universe (1234-00111).  If I trim off the first three characters from the first universe using a variable (=right([Part_Number];4), and trim off the last six characters from the second universe using a variable (=left([Serial_Number],4), the variables will have matching data.  The second question is: Can variables be merged?  I've tried, but it isn't working so far.  If so, can someone give me some hints on how to do it?

    Charles,
    Can variables be merged?
No, local variables cannot be merged.  The manipulation must be performed at the database level via Designer before the data comes across to the report.  As an aside, your IT deparatment can create "new" objects just for you, placed in the list under a separate sub-class that manipulates the data to your liking and will not upset other users who already built reports using the original columns of data.  I guess my point is that you can have multiple objects placed in your universe that derive from the same column in a given table -- user A has it per their flavor and user B has it per his flavor.
    Thanks,
    John

  • Open letter to HTC and VZW

I'm a die hard VZW fan.  I have been with them for over 5 years.  Never had any problems with their network, no dropped calls, excellent signal, and quality hardware from its makers.  I even "converted" a couple of my friends over to the VZW network from one of their competitors.  My initial android device was Motorola Droid.  Yes the first droid.  Finally VZW offered a third choice to my phone selection, the other being Microsoft and Apple.  I love the network and heard rave reviews about HTC devices and how open they were.  Great battery life and the rest.
When time came about for me to upgrade to a new phone.  My Moto Droid still works but was dying for the latest and greatest.  I jumped right on over to the HTC thunderbolt.  At the time, there wasn't any other choice for me.  It didn't make sense to me to jump to another 3g phone since in two years time all phone will probably be on 4g.  I ordered the Thunderbolt the second week it came out.  I was stoked.  I knew that I couldn't use 4g yet.  I live in Portage, MI but I travel to Grand Rapids, MI every weekend.  So I knew sometime in 2011 I could use 4g.
A couple weeks ago I went on vacation and the very first city I used 4g in was Denver.  I was stoked at how fast it was. I switched it between using 4g to 3g cause I noticed my battery draining very fast.  But wow. . . even the 3g was faster in Denver than it was where I live.  I loved the thunderbolt except for the battery life.
I knew that a OTA would come out and was checking for a software update every now and then during my vacation.  I was hoping this would fix the battery issue.  It kinda did but. . . . now I'm suffering from random reboots.  Im looking on forum sites and saw an article on Engadget about the reboots.
The camel's back is slowly breaking here.  I got home and went back to work.  I noticed that my phone would reboot about 8 times all before noon.  The first day it has done that I went to the local verizon store.  The rep told me that VZW is working with HTC for a fix and it wouldn't be 3 to 4 months out either.   It would be sooner than that.
So what is happening now withe my thunderbolt?  I cannot do data from my home from whence I could get a 3g data signal.  Sometimes its 1x, sometimes its 3g but unable to do any data transfers.  I'm unable to do data while I'm on the phone.  My calls drop because my phone will reboot during a call from time to time.  And just this last weekend, my phone got stuck in a reboot cycle, HTC white screen, the thunderbolt animation, the cloud screen and then poof, back to the HTC white screen.  I ended up calling Verizon tech support, for help.  I took out my battery and put it back in.  Ok I'm back to the homescreen and it seems to be responsive.  And then I was told by the VZW tech support person that no one else is having reboot issues.  My jaw dropped.
Service and quality of software (firmware included)  have been quite subpar from what I am used to.  I know that implementing a new technology takes lots of testing yet some how I don't think enough testing was done.  Even from the design aspect, the thunderbolt seems to have its pit falls.  For instance:  the inability to charge the Thunderbolt while using the kickstand.   I know not every device is going to be perfect.
I some how feel that VZW or HTC owes Thunderbolt users something.  No I don't want a refurbished phone.  I would like a brand new HTC thunderbolt with the ability to:  1.  not have reboots  2. no dropped calls  3.  Ability to do data and voice at the same time (hence why there are two radios inside)   4.  Have network reliability back
Or offer me the 2 year discounted price to jump over to another HTC 4g device or even another 4g phone.  My confidence is waning with HTC and VZW.  I'm also seriously considering paying the amount to break my contract if you don't break it for me when you go to tiered data.  I'd even be happy with you offering to pay one month's bill or a portion of it to hold me over for the next month or so til we have a fix OTA update.
    dwindling loyalty,

  • Can I merge several different Verizon plans (different family members each have own plans) into one plan (i.e. can I take over all their lines), if all lines on all plans are on Edge?

I was originally told by Verizon that if I joined, I can eventually take over the lines of various family members.  Now that I've joined, and my family members all upgraded their phones and are on Edge, Verizon is telling us that we can't merge into one plan (because Edge lines can't be transferred to another account).
Is this true, and, if so, what is my recourse since I was lied to.

Well, yes and no (as far as being lied to).  I asked on several occasions (I have the chat transcripts to prove it) if there would be any issue if the lines were all already on Edge, and was told each time that under no circumstances would there be any issue.  The latest being today (I know it's after the fact, but I wanted proof that this is what the chat people are saying).  I asked "I have currently have an account with 3 phones on Edge.  My brother and his wife, and my parents, also have plans all on Edge.  I would like to 'take over' their lines.  I want to make sure there is no issue with the Edge plan and that I can simply 'take over' their lines with no problems."  I was told "Yes. That would be correct."  Again, this is what I was told in the past as well (my original post didn't make clear the timing of the chats and upgrades to Edge..).  Every time I chatted I mentioned that the accounts were going to be on Edge or (later on) were already on Edge.  Even before my family members upgraded to Edge, not one single chat or phone representative (and my brother asked the same thing in a store) mentioned NOT to upgrade to Edge because it couldn't be transferred.  Everyone just said yep, no problem.  The ONLY reason I even joined Verizon (I was on Straight Talk) was because of the More Everything and Edge plans (we wanted a family plan with 6 people and over 10GB so we'd each save $25/line).  Otherwise I never would have joined Verizon and my family wouldn't have upgraded either.

  • HT4910 Have two phones with same apple id as I got one for my hubbie .he tried to back up his numbers in I cloud . Our contacts have now merged and neither can delete from our phone without it coming off the other . Any ideas how we can stop this

Have two iPhones with the same id as I got hubbie one in week and when I got it they asked for email address so I gave the one we use, so when my husband started phone up he just put my password in. When he tried to back his numbers on iCloud they all appeared on my phone and now I can't delete his numbers without them deleting on his phone as well . Any help would be appreciated.

You'll have to migrate one of the phones to a different account, then delete the other person's data from each account (you can continue to share the same Apple ID for purchasing from the iTunes and app stores).
Decide which iPhone will be keeping the current iCloud account.  On the one that will be changing accounts, if you have any photos in photo stream that are not in your camera roll or backed up somewhere else save these to your camera roll by opening the photo stream album in the thumbnail view, tapping Edit, then tap all the photos you want to save, tap Share and tap Save to Camera Roll.
Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud.  The phone that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.)  When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On My iPhone.  Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom).  Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to the new account.
Finally, go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't from each account.

  • I have three itunes accounts and want to merge them

I have three iTunes accounts and have found that at times we have purchased multiple of the same items as a result.  Can I merge two of the lesser accounts by gifting or otherwise migrating the songs, apps, videos etc to one master account?

    Not Possible...

  • I brought my itunes library onto a mac from a windows machine and now i have two separate libraries.  How can I merge them?

I moved to Mac from a Windows machine where I had downloaded all of my CDs into iTunes.  When I got my Mac it only put my purchased items into my library.  So I merged my windows library and it created a whole new user account with that on it.  I now have two libraries and can only sync music with one account or I lose all of my imported CDs.  Help!  How do I merge them.

The easiest way is to get both computers on your home network and copy the files over the network. It's easier than you think
    Check this earlier thread:
[How do I move my itunes library to new computer|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7937172&#7937172]
That thread mentions Target Disk Mode, which won't help moving from a PC to a Mac. But you can use file sharing to copy the files.
As the articles all say: don't forget to de-authorize your PC before you get rid of it.

  • I have 3 iTunes accounts and want to merge them into only one of them. I also have money on all 3 accounts

I have 3 iTunes accounts and want to merge them into only one of them. I also have money on each account. Not sure how to go about this.

    You cannot merge the accounts.
    Sorry.

  • I have two apple ids somehow, probably from two mobile and two computers - how do I merge them into one account so they all work with iCloud?

Somewhere, somehow, between two mobile and two macs, I ended up with two apple ids. I figured that this was the root of my problem to syncing. So, I am syncing Mail, Contacts, etc through the one account that I bought storage on this year in iCloud. I want to merge the two accounts, since many of my apps were purchased with my other id. Apparently, Keynote will not merge files since the app was bought with the second id, not the id I am using for icloud.
What to do??? I read, in the forums, that I am definitely not alone. I always had the id I used for the Apple Store to buy iTunes items, and then apps. The other id, that I am using for iCloud was based on my iDisk id, and apparently I set up as a separate account. The much failed iDisk account appears to be the one that I wish I never got involved with. Should I feel the same way about iCloud. If I cannot merge the two APPLE accounts from the same person (ME!!!), then many dropbox really is the answer for my file sharing needs.
    Please help me decide.

To begin with, I would like to try to explain Apple's confusing nomenclature in regard to iCloud.
Apple have called the whole cloud thing iCloud, there are a number of features under the iCloud umbrella, some of which require their own login. iTunes is one of these, another is what Apple have unfortunately also called iCloud too.
You can use the same Apple ID (account) to login to both iCloud and iTunes, but you don't need to and often users will login to each service using a different ID.
The part that you need to remember is that the services available when you log into iCloud are completely different and unrelated to those when you log in to iTunes. Your iCloud login enables mail, contacts, calendars, find my phone, Back to My Mac, Documents & Data sharing and photostream, it does not affect any of your iTunes services.
To avoid confusion when discussing your problem, when I mention iCloud, I am referring to the services under the iCloud login, Whereas I will refer to the whole cloud thing as The Cloud.
To go back to your question; you cannot merge accounts, but perhaps using one account for iCloud and the other for iTunes will resolve the majority of the reasons you needed to merge to begin with.
