Merge iTunes Libraries attached to different Apple iD's

Dear All,
I currently have two different Apple iD's from which I purchased media. Going forward, I would like to use only one and as such merge both libraries into one.
Does anyone know how to proceed?
Many thanks in advance.

I have multiple Apple IDs. Is there a way for me to merge them into a single Apple ID?
Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.

Can you keep it from creating duplicates?  These libraries have some duplicates.
How do you deal with duplicates?
    I'm talking 50GB.
    All computers are authorized.
    THANKS for any suggestions.

    You can't.
If accounts could be merged, then everybody could merge their accounts with everybody and there would be no need for anyone to buy anything.

How do I merge itunes libraries from two separate accounts?

Why are you posting a second thread with the same question. This one isn't any clearer than your first post.
What do you mean "merge itunes libraries from two separate accounts"? You have an iPod listed. Are you talking about getting music from two separate iTunes libraries on two separate computers? Are you talking about getting iTunes purchased music on a single iPod from two separate Apple/iTunes IDs?
What is it that you are wanting to do? If you do not take the time to explain what it is you are wanting to accomplish, then you are not going to get the information you need to do it. We are not mind readers.

I have two iTunes libraries on two different pc's (one windows and one Mac).  Can I consolidate these on an external hard drive?

I'm sorry I just saw the last post. I had two users on my hard drive, one for me and one for my daughter, but I am not sure what you mean by partioning my external????? I have heard the term before, but don't know how to do it. I am having serious crashing issues with this computer and believe I really need to do a clean install. I just want to make sure everything for both ipods is safe (is???? I think so, everything is......I hate when the English language does this to me!)

  • Using rsync to merge itunes libraries

I'm not sure where to post this, so I'll try here. I'm trying to create a script to backup my laptop's (smaller and ever changing) itunes library to a server that has all my music on it. i've looked everywhere for this answer online and can't find anything.
the problem is, I can easily rsync the laptop's library to the server, without deleting, so that I have essentially merged whatever new purchases I've made on my laptop into the archival library on the server. . . creating an ever growing music backup on the server. However, how does the itunes library on the server know to add these new tunes to its itunes library file? I know I could go in and drag the server's itunes music folder into the server's itunes app, and the merged songs would then be added to the library xml file, but i was wondering if there was a way to automate that process as well... (in rsync or otherwise)...
    anyone have any ideas?

    This may help

  • Export pictures from Iphoto, merging 2 libraries, adviced by an Apple retailer....

    Hi!
Some time after having switched the HD of my MacBook Pro, unfortunately, I now have the classic problem of having 2 IPhoto libraries that I want to merge, a backup library from the old HD and a new library created after the switch.
Reading your great answers and recommendations about using either the IPhoto Library Manager or Aperture, I got a bit confused after talking to a guy at our local Apple Store today.
He recommended exporting all photos as originals (sorted as albums) from both IPhoto Libraries into a folder on an external HD. After this I should delete both libraries on the MacBook, create a new library into which I could import all the photos from the external HD... Will this work? I am off course very worried about loosing my photos.
Besides this, the guy also recommended buying a NAS HD for storing and accessing our photos from different Macs. Again, reading your recommendations, this does not seem as a good idea. But how should I then make a common IPhoto library that I can access wirelessly from my MacBook, my wife`s MacBook and our IPad?
Thanks a lot for your time!

Okay, well you can safely ignore everything the guy said. He is clueless.
He recommended exporting all photos as originals (sorted as albums) from both IPhoto Libraries into a folder on an external HD. After this I should delete both libraries on the MacBook, create a new library into which I could import all the photos from the external HD... Will this work?
This will get all the original photos into one Library. However this is not merging Libraries.. You'll lose a lot - all your organisation, your edits, any metadata you've added in iPhoto and so. Basically, it'll be like you never used iPhoto before. What I find very curious is why he wants to double the dataloss by exporting from both libraries. That's spectacularly dumb. If you only export from one you only lose half the work.
If you want to actually merge the Libraries then you'll need to use either Library Manager or Aperture. End of story.
    Then:
Besides this, the guy also recommended buying a NAS HD for storing and accessing our photos from different Macs. Again, reading your recommendations, this does not seem as a good idea.
    1. You can't have an iPhoto Library on a NAS. The disk format is wrong and iPhoto is very risky on networked connections. Apple advise against both.
    2. There's a vague chance that this person is suggesting using a Referenced Library with the Masters on the NAS. Again, you'd be starting over from scratch and again, iPhoto doesn't have the tools to do this. For more on iPhoto and file management see this User Tip:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6361
But how should I then make a common IPhoto library that I can access wirelessly from my MacBook, my wife`s MacBook and our IPad?
The answer to that is simple. You can't, at this time. What you can do is share Photo Streams from your Library to the other devices, but again, that does not give access to the Library, just the current versions of the photos.
The upcoming Photos app, due next year, does appear to offer the possibility of the Library in the Cloud, but that's next year.

  • Merging iTunes libraries/accounts

My kids used to have a a Windows PC but it died. I bought a new iMac for myself and I am passing down my G4 iMac to the kids. On the windows PC, they each had their own log in, so they each had to have a separate iTunes library. Additionally, they each have their own iTunes account. I have managed to get all of the info from the PC transferred to the iMac. It is all in a separate folder waiting for me to intergrate it into the different programs on the iMac.
    Here are my questions.
    a) I would like to merge all of the iTunes libraries into one. Is it possible for use to have four iTunes Store accounts that feed into one iTunes library?
b)If we can merge the accounts into one library, would we be able to listen to and to share all of the music in the libray or would we need to sign in and out of the indiviual accounts?
    c) I shudder think of how much money we have wasted by buying the same version of the same songs at the iTunes Store. If we merge all of the libraries, what happens to the dozens of duplicate songs that were purchased by more than one of the accounts?
    d) If we do not merge the libraries, how difficult is it to switch between libraries in iTunes?
    Thanks!
    iMac G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)
      Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Thanks!
My Mac Pro just arrived yesterday. Fortunately, I had kept my Library on an exernal FW drive; everything transferred very quickly to the new Mac while I snoozed last night. This morning, I decided to listen to some tunes but couldn't for the life of me figure out how to get my Library recognized by iTunes. I thought I'd have to spend the entire morning searching the forum for the answer, which I should already know because I had to do it last year when I moved everything to the external drive.
    Again, many many thanks!

  • Merging iTunes libraries onto a new computer?

    Hi,
I just purchased a new macbook and I want to sell my older macs. I have two, each with its own iTunes libraries (and associated files). These libraries are highly redundant, but not identical.
Is there an easy way to merge them and move them onto the new computer without being plagued by duplicates?
    Thanks in advance

Unfortunately, no, it is hard to somehow automerge a couple libraries and avoid duplicates. iTunes is very stupid in that it is no able to determine duplicate files and so treats all files the same and adds them all. Which is good because you don't want iTunes determining three tracks are the same song because they have the same artist and song title and throwing two in the trash when in fact one was a studio version, another a live version and the other an alternate outtake version. You would make a lot of people angry doing that.
So, iTunes leaves determining if tracks are duplicates up to the user. You can use the command to show duplicates, but that is only to help you determine which songs MIGHT be duplicates and leaves it up to you to make that determination.
Therefore, when adding tracks, like from other libraries, iTunes does not make any attempt to determine, warn, let alone restrict duplicate tracks.
About the only thing I can think of to help is to go into the libraries of the computers you are getting rid of and manually deleting stuff you know are duplicates. For example, on your main library you see you have 8 albums by U2. Go delete those albums from the other libraries. Repeat as necessary to at least get them other libraries reduced considerably. Then it will be much easier to try and determine where they are different to grab the different things to put into the main computer's library.
    Good luck,
    Patrick

  • Re-associating previously purchased iTunes apps, etc with different Apple ID?

, I want to get a brand new Apple ID to replace my current MobileMe address which I will convert to iCloud just for transition purposes and until my contacts update to my new email. I want to be able to ultimately eliminate my old .mac and .me address altogether and never see it again (divorce situation - see previous post)
Anyway, a snag, of course, is all my iTunes purchases. I want to benefit from iCloud wireless syncing but all my apps (Mac AppStore too) are tied to my current .me AppleID which can't be simply changed.
Since all the apps, music, etc, reside on my computer (which has to have the long & short name changed too) - would the following work:
    1. Backup iPhone 4 and iPad 2
    2.  Create a new username on my computer (the name I intend to have as my only name once all is smoothly transferred)
    3.  Create new iCloud account with new .me address
    4.  Configure iPhone 4 and iPad to associate with new .me address (where exactly?)
    5.   Signed in as new username, Open a new iTunes library on my computer and import everything (apps, music, shows, etc) then consolidate it to be housed only  in the new username
***also load to affiliate with new computer username (where?) the last iPhone 4 and iPad 2 backups
    6.  Re-sync (wired) iPhone and iPad to new library.
Will my apps, etc then be "in the cloud" and associated with my new .me address so I can wirelessly sync them as if I never changed my name??
What specific steps should I take and in what order should they be?
And if this doesn't work, any ideas that will?  Same question then for Mac app store purchases.
I just want MY iDentity and not have to see my married name all over my iPhone, iPad and iMac, everyday.  [email protected] rather than [email protected]
    THANK YOU!

Please try each of the following steps you haven't already taken, until the issue is resolved. After each step, relaunch the App Store and try again.
    1. Follow the instructions in the Apple Support article linked below:
Mac App Store: Cannot update App Store purchases or updates do not seem available
    2. If any App Store purchases were made under a different Apple ID, or if the bundled iLife applications were accepted under a different ID, sign in to the App Store with that ID to update.
    3. Alternatively, delete the probem applications and re-download them with the ID you're using now. If you haven't already purchased them with that ID, you'll have to do that first, because purchases can't be transferred from one account to another.
    4. Select the Purchased tab in the App Store window. If you see an item in the list marked "You have 3 apps to accept," click Accept.
    5. Triple-click the line below to select it:
    /Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/adoption.plist
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu. A Finder window may open with a file selected. If it does, delete the selected file. You may be prompted for your login password.
    Then repeat step 4.
    6. Select
    Store ▹ View My Account
from the App Store menu bar, then select View hidden purchases. If you're trying to update any hidden purchases, unhide them.
    7. Launch iTunes and select
    Store ▹ Authorize This Computer
    from the menu bar.
    8. If you've moved any App Store apps out of the applications folder, or into a subfolder, put them back. Never move or copy those applications.

  • How can I merge iTune libraries?

I have a MacBook Pro and a Mac Pro tower. Each has iTunes 10. Each computer has its own iTunes music library. There is about 70 % overlap of music. How can I merge the libraries so they are the same on each computer? Many thanks for any help.

  • HT5661 Can I have 4 devices in my family share an iTunes account but have different apple IDs to have seperate I climb backups?

Can I have 4 idevices in my family share an iTunes account but have separate apple IDs for iCloud and FaceTime ?

Apps and Music are not from iCloud. Are from iTunes and App Store.
You can change this from: Settings>iTunes and App Stores>Sign out and sign in with new ID, but you will have to pay again to download apps that you already have in your old account. Or leave it as it is to share purchases with your son.

  • Can I access my itunes library from a different apple tv

Can I access my itunes library through my parents apple tv? I would like to show them photos from my library.

Not unless the iTunes library is on your parent's local network.
If it is, then configure iTunes and AppleTV to use the same Home Sharing Credentials, and set up Photos to Share under the iTunes Advanced tab.

  • How to setup 2 iTunes Libraries with 2 different HD locations? HELP please!

I am so confused how this is supposed to work! I've searched all over the forums, Apple discussion board, and support section, and the only thing I can find tells you how to press the Option key when loading iTunes. DUH! That's the easy part! But how in the heck do you set up the libraries? Why is this not documented anywhere?
So basically I have a MBP, and ALL of my iTunes stuff is on an external USB hard drive. What I would like to do is have that external hard drive REMAIN as my main library, the one I sync my iPod, iPhone, Apple TV, etc... but would like to COPY my music files only (about 35GB) to my MBP on the internal drive, so I can have all MUSIC files with me. I would not sync with this library, just play it on my laptop on occasion. Isn't this do-able?
Where I am having trouble is this: I held down Option, loaded a brand new library, and figured I need to go in the Prefs and tell it where to get the music files, so I noticed it showed the external drive there. I changed it to my local folder, hoping that's where I would copy the music files to, but then noticed when I loaded iTunes and the MAIN library, it automatically changed my iTunes location to the new local drive I just set for the other library. This makes no sense to me as if iTunes forces you to have only ONE choice for the source of the files, what's the point of multiple libraries? I want a different location for each of the two libraries!
Clearly I don't have something set right, or I am missing a step. Can someone please help me ASAP?
    Thanks in advance...
One more thing - what's the best way to copy my music only, to my local drive after setting this up? I tried opening iTunes and selecting all of the music files and dragging it to a local folder, and it got stuck for about 30 seconds then didn't do jack. I don't get why I'm having such a hard time with this.

I'll go play around with the Input Currency and the output currency. How can i play around in specific?
For transferring it to payroll you may need to thinking of attaching it to the correct >ledger. The Transfering is to GL by running conc. request 'Transfer is to GL'
are you going to pay the non local people in the local bank or in the foreign bank. All the employees are going to be paid through Local banks but the employees can have any type of Currency Account (i.e. It can be USD,EURO,RAND, etc...)
    Thank you,

Sorry, but you can't move iTunes media from one Apple ID accounts to another. It would be like merging to Apple ID's which Apple does not allow. >  Frequently Asked Questions About Apple ID
