Merge Output device types (PCL + Prescribe)

Hi all,
is it possible to merge PCL device type and  a Prescribe device type?
The idea is to use the same device type for Adobe forms and SAPScript forms.
Thanks a lot.
Regards Marc

Hi,
It's not possible
to handle these two different forms with a single device type from
technical view. You need to define them differently.

  • Output device type

    Hi All,
To get the print of a PO one device type is getting selected, but we came to know that we need to select another device type so that we can take the printout of the PO with out any problem. But i am not sure where to change the device type in the PO.
    Thanks,
    Raju

    Hi Raju,
You can change the device type using transaction SPAD - Spool Administration. In here select Output devices and select the printer which you are using to print the PO, then change the device type. You may need the necessary authorization to do this.If your output device is not listed, then you can create a new one. For a list of device types, see SAP Note 8929 in the SAP Service Marketplace.

  • Convert_otf - Identify device type

    Hi Experts
I am more of a functional consultant, so please excuse if this is simple thing to find out.
We are calling functional module CONVERT_OTF through a custom program to convert outputs of billing documents into a PDF file. However the PDF file generated has alignment and formatting issues. So we checked further and our ABAP consultant mentioned that the device type 'SCREEN' is used while converting the output into PDF format. This device type does not have any formats attached we we can see through transaction SPAD. So they feel this is the reason for incorrect format / misalignment of PDF output.
So we want to change the device type 'SCREEN' to 'WINSAP' which has all the required formats attached to it.
However our abaper does not not know when the program calls for device type and where to change it. He feels that output device type is called by standard FM CONVERT_OTF and we need to check with SAP on the same.
Therefore we need to know how we can change device type for this requirement. If someone has worked similar query, please help us to resolve this. Any pointers would be highly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Santosh

    Hi Santosh,
If your requirement is to save the preview as PDF of the billing documents, you just need to type PDF! in the command field of the print preview screen and do a f8 then a pop will come up and then you can save or print the preview.
Note : you have to type PDF in Capitals and along with ! (exclamation mark symbol) i.e. PDF! .
    Hope this helps.

  • How to configure output device option

    DEAR ALL ,
I have been facing problem in taking printout in line printer(lp04)  with page dimension 305 mm * 215mm for transaction mb90--> output type -->we03 which is not giving the option to choose output device type before print preview option. how will i configure output device for standard output types.

    Hi sonu sonu,
For Your concern you have to discuss with BASIS whehter printer(lp04) with page dimension 305 mm * 215mm is present or not.
Or else go thru SPAD and check whether that printer has that Page Format or not ???

  • Output different if Device Type changed from SWIN  to HPLJ4

    Hi,
I have a few problems here for my SAP smartform. Hope someone out there can help.
1/ I am using font: Helvetica for my smartform. I realized that the output (on Print Preview as well as the actual Print output) shows a different font if I chose Device Type: HPLJ4. If I choose my actual printer HP4250 as the Device Type, the font is the same as that shown for SWIN as Device Type, but the spacing is a bit different. Is there any way I can make sure that the font type, spacing will not differ for a different Device Type?
2/ The reason why I am not printing using SWIN as Device Type (which will ensure consistent output even if printer is changed) is becoz I need to use the PCL5 print control commands to rotate a certain section of text in my smartforms- which is only possible on HP PCL5 printers. Is there any way I could rotate text in smartforms without print commands and yet I can still use SWIN as Device Type? (pls do not suggest creating a bitmap picture for the text).
<b>In short,</b> I need to know how can I ensure consistent output (same margin, same font, same font spacing) even if a different printer is used (any Device Type I can use?) and at the same time, enable me to rotate a certain section of text in my smartform(180 degrees)?
Thanks very much for any help.

    Hi,
For the first question, generally the output (spacing etc) changes when you change the device type. So you need to adjust the alignment according to your output type.
    Thanks,
    Nagendra

  • Output Device with Device Type SWINCF not send to printer

    Hi,
We're on SAP R/3 (version 4.7 w/ supporting unicode). In order to display Vietnamese Characters in smartforms, we implement SAP note 812821 to get new device type SWINCF. Everything works find on print preview but when print out form the output is crap. we can not see anything out except unreadable characters.
    More information:
    - Host Spool Access Method: U (Print using Berkeley Protocol) there is no access method G
    - Host printer:                "(it is not __DEFAULT)
Please anyone has got this issue help us.
    Thanks so much.

I guess changing access method to your network printer may solve the print issue, but it may give you some alignement issues. Any how before you try changing access method, goto spool and do analysis on form change in Raw format. Steps given below.
    1) go to transaction code SP02
    2) Identify the spool request that is printing vietnamese characters.from menu, goto>display request> settings
    3) change the display mode from graphical to raw, enter
    4) display the output of the spool, now you will see raw format of your output.. now try to identify, what font family is it using during print of vietnamese characters, Note: in raw format FC --> Font change.
    5) Make sure the font family that is printing vietnamese characters hold all vietnamese characters.

    Hello
It looks like that you had not installed the ADS(Adobe Document server) for the PDF type reports. Please check with your basis team if you want to configure ADS.
If you need the output as a sapscript then please do the sollowing steps:
    (1) Execute transaction SM30
    (2) Enter 'Table/View' as V_T5F99OCFT
    (3) Select 'Maintain' option.

  • Output device is not type sapwin

    Hello SAP Gurus ,
i am trying to print the dunning letter and i am getting the error "output device XYZ is not type SAPWIN".
I did look up in the forum for the appropriate answer but could not find one .
Has anyone else gone through the same error .
    any suggestions and solutions please
    thanks in advance ,
    Sumit

This is message TD429 (note: providing the message number (we usually can't know) is useful to search forum and sap notes).
Is that custom code which prints the dunning letter? Check that it doesn't force the device type.
This message is also triggered when you try to reprint a spool to an output device whose device type is different from the original device type.
Otherwise report this error to SAP support.
For more information, see Note 528802 - xxx output device does not have a yyy device type.

  • Output type not automatically determined (no output device specified)

the output device is already specified for this output
we dont want to manually add the output on all the invoices where the output was not automatically determined before... what should we do?
is there a way not to manually add them?
    thanks in advance
    Pablito

    Hi
You really dont need to add the output in all these documents.
You have to maintain the masterdata for output records in VV31.
Now just open all the invoice documents one by one in Change mode through transaction code VF02 and just save it
Whenever a document is opened in change mode, the output gets automatically triggered. Hence the output type will be automatically populated in the output screen. Once you save the document, the output gets successfully executed, and you will get the desired document
