Merge to Panorama in Photoshop not using edited RAW files
When I had LR4, I could Edit in > Merge to Panorama in PS and it would take the edited RAW files and merge them. Now in LR5 it seems to be taking the unedited RAW files and making the panorama. Is there a setting or something I'm missing in LR5?
Yes it is that simple. Just do a google search for Lightroom and Photoshop preference file locations and you should find them. The next time you start the programs, they will rebuild them. Of course, you'll have to re-enter any custom preference settings you've used. Good luck. Of course, when you think you've located them. Just rename them and move them into another folder first. That way, if you've picked the wrong file, you can easily move it back. Once things are working, you can just delete them.
BTW, this is a good troubleshooting tool for any mac applications that are acting wonky. Just delete that preference file, and more often than not, the problem will be fixed.

hundreds of times!
Now suddenly, with nothing different that I can tell,it doesn't work.
Nothing happens.
Sometimes the photoshop window comes up but usually nothing.
What's wrong?beverlyb - same issue (after trying the CS6 30 day trial on my machine with CS5). Interesting that it's an issue on Mac as well (I use win8.1). I had an Adobe engineer "take over" my PC and he/she was unable to fix it... Ugh! Really the main thing I use photoshop for. Can you do it manually (under File > automation > photomerge I think)?

PC windows 7 lightroom 5.5 Photoshop CC 2014. When editing pictures 'edit in' merge to panorama in photoshop CC 2014, photoshop opens but none of the photos open up to makes panorama. Can anyone help? It used to work with Photoshop CC and lightroom 5.4

LR 2 Merge to Panorama in Photoshop fails at last moment
On both a Mac Pro and my (aging) Macbook Pro, I select several images in LR 2.5, right-click, choose Edit in>Merge to Panorama in Photoshop. Photoshop CS4 (11.0.1) launches, presents options (I choose Auto, sometimes with vignette mitigation, most without), and hit Enter.
Photoshop creates layers, successfully aligns layers, which I notice if I don't blink. Then the doc evaporates. Literally disappears. Same if I push the images (all DNGs) from Bridge. Same if I first export from LR as downsampled TIFFs at 8-bit/channel and push those from LR. same whether LR is launched in 32 or 64 bit mode. Killed prefs, repaired permissions, restarted box. Saved or unsaved metadata on files in LR.
Even with only LR and Photoshop running, 3GB ram on the MBP, tons on the Pro, OS 10.5.8. same result. Success if I Edit in>Open as Layers in Photoshop then use the more manual Edit>Auto Align then Auto Blend. It's something about the handoff.
read lots of variations of this issue in many forums but no solutions. Would be nice to have a real solution rather than the workaround above as I'm demonstrating this feature to many folks tomorrow.

Using Lightroom 5.5 and Photoshop CC2014. Images no longer open in Photoshop when using "edit in" command. Photoshop opens but no image when trying to move between LR and PS. Any suggestions?

2. The Icons on your dock are Aliases not real apps
They point to where the apps really are which is:
For Pages 5.2.2 in your Applications folder
For Pages '09 in your Applications/iWork folder
3. You are alternately opening documents randomly with either version of Pages
Both Pages have the same file extension .pages and there is no certainty as to which version opens them when you double click on a file.
right click on the file and choose which version you want to open it
4. Pages '09 can not open Pages 5 files
Pages 5 can not open Pages '08 files, and will convert and change Pages '09 and Word files.
It will also auto save opened files into its own format.
You can export these back to Pages '09 if you need to:
Menu > File > Export > Pages '09
5. Yes Pages 5.2.2 is a marked downgrade
Pages 5.2.2 has a few improvements but has had over 110 features removed and is buggy.
Sooner or later you will not be able to open a file or have it damaged in some way and it has a complex obscure file format largely incompatible with everything else, so you will not be able to rescue the contents of your file. If Pages or some third party server/eMail don't trash your file, eventually Apple will do it for you as it did when it released Pages 5 last September. I recommend using Pages '09 for the time being whilst you look for viable alternatives, some are here already and some are on the way.

Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop and Bridge does not recognize the raw files from my new Canon Mark III 5D Camera. How can I get my files open to view and edit? I am using LR3, Photoshop CS3 and Bridge CS3. Do I need to upgrade these programs or is there another way to get these programs to recognize my files?
When I try opening the raw images in Lightroom, the thumbnails say "Preview unavailable for this file" ... when I click "import" an error message pops up that says "The files are from a camera which is not recognized by the raw format support in Lightroom."
When I try opening the raw images in Photoshop, an error message pops up saying "could not complete your request because photoshop does not recognize this type of file."
When I try opening the raw images in Bridge, it just shows an icon with the file name and CR2.
Please help!!!Unless I missed an announcement, today, LR6 isn't available, yet, right? Only Adobe employees and beta testers would know what LR6 does differently at this point and they're all sworn to secrecy.
LR5 is available as a standalone version.
PS-CS6 is available as a serial-number-licensed version.
PS-CC + LR5 are also available as a Photography Plan subscription for $10/month with a minimum OS versions of OSX 10.7 (and probably 10.8, soon) and Windows 7.
Bridge is part of PS, not a separate program.

What Steps do I take to edit raw files and save for web use, such as Instagram, Facebook, Websites, and emailing?
When you open a raw file it will open in Adobe camera raw. That is where you can do most of the editing. Then it will be placed inside Photoshop where you can do more if needed.
Now you can use the save for web dialog to export your image as a png or jpg to use on those sites. -
Edited RAW files used to make a photo book
I am posting a question that I mistakenly posted in the wrong support community.
I have photos in both RAW and JPEG format. I know that when a RAW file is edited it is saved as a JPEG. I noticed that the size of the edited RAW file is often smaller than the same JPEG photo. (Sometimes it's up to 2MB or more difference.) Believing that a larger size photo has more detail do you recommend using one file format over the other (edited RAW v. JPEG) to create an iBook? What is the smallest size photo recommended for a photobook?

It's not since iPhoto 08. When you process a Raw the decisions you make are recorded in the database and a Preview is made. This preview is what's used in Media Browsers and the like - essentially any time you share a photo except via File -> Export. But the edits are never fixed or committed.
I noticed that the size of the edited RAW file is often smaller than the same JPEG photo. (Sometimes it's up to 2MB or more difference.)
That's the difference between the camera's jpeg and the iPhoto Preview. The Preview is a medium quality version - a sort of "good for most things" version. If you export you can create much bigger files.

THere's no right answer. No matter what, you can't print the Raw so it's either going to be the camera Jpeg or one created by iPhoto from the Raw. If you don't want to process the image yourself or if you feel what you can do wuth the image is not better than the camera, it might be worth asking yourself why you're shooting Raw at all? And if you feel that what you do with the Raw is better than the camera creates, you might ask yourself why you're shooting the Jpeg at all.
What will print best is the best shot, regardless of whether the camera processed it or you did. -
I redownloaded my Photoshop CS5 and Camera Raw will not accept my RAW files nor will the Adobe Bridge display the picture view of these files. A message displays saying it doesn't support this camera. I have a Nikon 5100 DSLR Camera. It always displayed them in the past. How can I get it to display these photos in Bridge and open them in RAW?

Photoshop CS6 will not read my raw files
I have both a Canon 5D Mark 3 and a Canon 70D and CS6 will not read my RAW files. I have to convert them to DNG to work on them. Suggestions?
According to this Adobe help link, the 5D Mark III had support since Camera Raw version 7.1 and the 70D had support since version 8.2, which CS6 should support fully. (CS6 supports up to the latest Camera Raw, which is version 8.7 as of this post.)
Is everything updated? (Help > Updates in Photoshop.) -

The 5D mk III is supported in PSE 10 with ACR 6.7 update.
You could download and install the latest DNG converter and use that to convert the CR2 files to DNG files (still RAW format). Then you can edit the DNG files using PSE 9.

Not opening multiple RAW files
If i open a Raw file in Bridge, it opens up perfectly. Also my jpegs and tiff open in RAW, so no problem there. The problem is, that I cannot open multiple Raw files from Bridge into Raw with the option "open in Camera Raw" So the shortcut cmd+R ( I am on a mac) does not work. It says that Raw has to be opened at least once. I have been using Raw for years now so it has been opened multiple times.
I Can not seem to find a solution. I would really like to open up multiple edited Raw files at once, and in Raw give the order to rename them into JPEG. If you do that, you see Photoshop CC and a window that says how many convertions are left. So far so good... but before, I was able to open up some new raw files in Camera Raw without having to wait for Photoshop to convert everything. Now I have to wait for a long time before I can make my new Edits. Can somebody please help me?
I am using all updated software.

The situation is, that I can not open any file with CMd-R. I can open single files with CMD-O. But I need to open multiple files at ones with CMD-R. It used to work good.
The problem is, That I am in the business of school photography. I take the pictures as RAW files on an Nikon camera (nef) After I ajust all the pictures, I have to rename all of them to JPEG, just to get them online.
I used to do that with ACR. But now the problem is, if I open a lot of picures with CMD-O, It opens up very good in ACR and I still can give the command to save all of these as JPEG. It workt great, but I have to wait a looooooong time before I can open up my next batch of pictures and start to adjust those. Normally, it would save the files as JPEG and I was able to open up a new batch of pictures in ACR right away. That saves me A LOT OF TIME. This only works if you can open the files with CMS-R. Strange...
I updated my I-mac to 10.9.1 so I see that is not the newest. PS-CC is 14-2-1 x64 and I am using the beta ACR for now (8.4)
I just tried to open a RAW file in photoshop with the normal open command and it lauches ACR perfectly. But again from within Adobe bridge I still get the same error about needing to open a qualifying product at least once.

IPhoto issues editing Raw files in PE4
I've just acquired Photoshop Elements 4 and was happy at the prospect or keeping my photos in iPhoto and editing them in Elements.
I mostly shoot in RAW format but when editing a RAW file in Elements I can't get the edit to show up in iPhoto (version 6).
On the other hand when processing jpegs from iPhoto to Elements the edits show up fine back in iPhoto.
Is the problem with the format change when converting RAW to Jpeg I wonder?
I did notice that when saving the edited RAW file -and choosing Jpeg as the new format- iPhoto defaulted to the "Original" not the "Modified" folder for the save. Couldn't iPhoto determine that the file has been modified? Is that because the extension was changed?
I also tried saving and manually selecting the MODIFIED folder but with unhappy results. The edit did show up, and in it's proper place, but when viewing in "full screen" mode the image resorted back to the unedited version after 3 or 4 seconds. I tried that a couple of times with the same results...!? I hope I didn't corrupt anything in the process!
I realise I could just do a "save as" to my desktop and import back to iPhoto but that creates a double and also a new roll for each import...
I haven't seen any posts about this. Has anyone had the same problem, or am I missing something elementary?

PowerMac G4 FW800 Mac OS X (10.4.7)iPhoto is a consumer-level application, and RAW is a format mostly for professionals. When you import a RAW file into iPhoto it saves the RAW in the Originals folder and instantly creates a jpeg version of it in the Modified folder. This causes the problem with your editing workflow.
Yes, changing the file extension in Elements is the same as doing a Save As - it breaks the link iPhoto has with the original. This is why you don't see your edits back in iPhoto. Any time you change the extension you will need to save as to the desktop and import the edit as a new original into iPhoto. As you've seen, you cannot save directly into the iPhoto library folder because images must be Imported for iPhoto to recognize them. If you know which files you placed in there, go ahead and drag them out (using Finder) to your desktop. Then import. (Be careful not to tamper with anything else in the library folder while you're in there.)
My suggestion for your RAW workflow is to use Image Capture (in your Applications folder) to upload from your camera (to a folder anywhere outside of your iPhoto library folder). Edit in Elements. Last, import into iPhoto. Once inside iPhoto, the desktop copies can be deleted. You can set Image Capture to open when you connect a camera in Image Capture Preferences.
iPhoto does create a new roll each time you import photos, but you can always reorganize your rolls. Choose Library and View > Sort Photos > by Film Rolls and you can combine, create, retitle, and redate your rolls. For example, you could keep separate rolls for files with a RAW original versus files imported as jpegs. -
Why do my recently edited RAW files lack sidecars?
I've asked about this recently and now can describe the problem better. My previous question (Aug. 1 "Bridge Thumbnails & Preview no longer indicate edit") received answers suggesting deleting cache, which had no effect on the problem. I've now noticed that those edited RAW files lack sidecar files, although they open normally in RAW, displaying their edited state in both the image and the panels sliders.
I'm using a MacPro 2 X 2.8 GHz Quad-core Intel Xenon, running version 10.6.8, Photoshop CS6 13.0.5
This problem only affects recently edited RAW files (August 2013), with their thumbnails in Bridge showing the edit symbol (upper right), but no evidence of any editing. When I open these files in RAW, the image and the panel sliders show all of my edit correctly. Although the edit is displayed, the sidecar files are missing from the respective RAW file on my HD. Both RW2 and RAF filles are affected. When I convert these files to DNG, the thumbnails in Bridge then correctly show evidence of the edit.

Now you have to go to each folder in Bridge and go to the Tools menu >Cache > Build and Export Cache to create the missing XMP files.
Note that we're talking about different commands in the Tools menu, different menu items.
Did you restart Bridge after changing the cache preferences and before selecting the command to Build and Export Cache?
