Merge to PDF
Hi All
We have a word 2007 document mail merged template which we want to create a number of PDF documents from. We have manged to use the "Merge to PDF" option to create the requird PDF files but for some reason a number of embedded fonts are not being embedded.
If we choose the option to save to pdf from the Word toolbar this works fine apart from the fact we now have one massive PDF document rather than individual files as required.
Within the Adobe Distiller printer driver options we are choosing the following standard for the output file as this is a requirement for our local printers to be able to print the produced PDF files correctly. We cannot understand what in different in the output process in Adobe to be creating this problem.
Any help or ideas to why this happening would be appreciated
Hi
To confirm
I'm using the Merge to PDF option within the Word 2007 Mailing Tab on the Word 2007 toolbar(see screen shot). I understand this works in conjunction with Adobe PDF printer
Yes I'm using the PDF/X-1a preset as per my screen shot
Please see screen shot of the font properties for the PDF file in question

Hope this helps

So, I'm not the only one unable to merge docs thru Preview.
This is why I wrote my own script to do that.
--[SCRIPT join_PDFs]

Save the script as a Script: join_PDFs.scpt
Move the newly created file into the folder:
<startup Volume>:Users:<yourAccount>:Library:Scripts:
go to the Scripts Menu, choose Numbers, then choose "join_PDFs"
You may also save the script as an application.
Then you will be anle to drag an drop PDFs icons on the script one.
I found the main code in a Web page.

The Finder's Help explains:
To make the Script menu appear:
Open the AppleScript utility located in Applications/AppleScript.
Select the "Show Script Menu in menu bar" checkbox.
Under 10.6.x,
go to the General panel of AppleScript Editor’s Preferences dialog box
and check the “Show Script menu in menu bar” option.

Hi pharmovative,
You can use the Combine PDF feature of Adobe PDF pack to combine multiple PDF files into one document. (Or, if you have the full version of Acrobat, you an do it there as well by choosing Create > Combine Files into a Single PDF.)
Please let us know if you need further assistance.

How do I merge 2 pdf files into one file?
I use PrimoPDF (free download) to create pdf files. To merge two docs/pdfs/etc., print the first to a new pdf using Primo. Close it, then print the second and save it to the same new pdf. Primo gives you the option to 'append' or 'overwrite' the original file. By using 'append', you are just adding it to the back of the existing file. You can do this repeatedly to resort or combine existing pages into a new pdf.

I am using Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Pro to send a merged word document to a list of email receipents.
I have created two word files, the first works fine but the second I always get the error message that "Acrobat PDFMaker was not able to mail merge the document".
The only difference between the two files is that the second has some additional merge feilds. Although it doesnt appear to relate to any specific additional field (no matter which field I add, as soon as there is a new field the merge fails).
Does anyone have any suggestions about what might be causing the merge to PDF to fail?
FYI, I can complete the mail merge in word no problem, and I can mail merge and email to receipents in word no problem. (The end result I am after is to send out to the email receipents a PDF file rather than an editable word doc).
Thanks ShaneThis thread may have your answer:

Re: PDF Maker Mail Merge error
I've had this same problem with one word document and I think I figured out what is going on, at least in my case. I'm using Word 2003. I tried a test of one merge record, and it worked, but when I tried to complete the entire merge, it failed. After trying several times to no avail, I noticed that the first word in my document had the red spell check underline, even though the word was not spelled wrong. When I placed my mouse cursor in front of the first letter of the word, the font information said "ZWAdobeF" and the size was 1. After I deleted this and tried the merge to e-mail through the Adobe plugin, it worked flawlessly. After the merge was completed however, that font reappeared in front of the first word in my document.
I hope this helps some people out there.
Also, I'm using Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional, Windows XP SP3. -
Merging Multiple PDF Files in C# using Acrobat 7.0
I'm trying to merge multiple pdf files into one pdf file. Does anyone have sample or psuedo code for this?
Basicly, there has not much changed since version 5 so you can use also vers. 8 SDK / IAC section.
The command you to use is "insert", where the first page has to be opened and the other pages will be inserted.
If you google for PdDoc.insert you may get tons of examples and maybe also in C.
If you use Acro-Javascript via IAC you may find an example direct in the AcroJs helpfile.

I have a paid subscription, but am no longer able to merger multiple pdf documents into one pdf. What's up?
Pat:
Below is a copy of an 8/7/2013 email from adobe. I prepaid a one-year subscription, and, until I recently upgraded to Windows 8, I was able to make several dozens of merged pdf documents. I seem to be no longer able to use the merge feature that I had successfully and repeated used. When I search for the merge feature I end up with a request that I pay for an upgrade monthly subscription to use the merge feature.

When i merge using my application, it is getting collapsed and then merged
Here is my Code

Hi, How to Merge 1 PDF file to 50 PDF together not one by one. Using Acrobat 9 Windows xp.
Depending on just what you are trying to do, you can also use DOCUMENT>Insert Pages to add multiple documents or simply drag and drop the documents into the current document (OK, I have not tried this one).

How to update bookmarks when merging two PDF files?
We have a company catalog that gets generated once a night. It's three step process:
Step 1) A raw XML file gets generated from our main ERP software (Microsoft Dynamics).
Step 2) Then that raw XML file is ran against a stylesheet with XEP to produce a nice professional looking catalog.
Step 3) And the third step is a script that merges the front and back covers with the main catalog produced in step 2. Each cover is two pages (front and back).
My problem is when step 3 runs it produces a final catalog but all the bookmarks are off by 2 pages because the front cover adds two pages in the very beginning. This post may be premature because up until now I've been merging the PDF pages with a program called "GhostScript" and it allows me to merge them via line command. I'm just now trying out AcroExch.App COM Object for VBScript so I'll see if it works but wanted to fire this out for help to see if anyone has encountered this or can confirm if Adobe automatically updates them for you? When I "Merge" the PDF files through Acrobat Pro they get updated automatically, so hopefully it will work the same way with AcroExch.App Object. Thanks guy!I think you might be misunderstanding what I'm saying... we are not performing tasks for non-licensed individuals. We purchased a copy of Adobe Acrobat Standard so we could create a PDF of our catalog. That catalog we then put on our website and let people download it. Since our products change all the time, we generate a new catalog every night. The term "server" is just a place where a script runs, I could have it run on my desktop computer if that's really an issue but I think we're talking semantics. Acrobat is not what produces the main catalog PDF, that is done through XEP when it runs through the raw XML produced by our ERP software every night. The only thing we want Acrobat to do is an automated process to merge 3 PDF files together: Front Cover, Main Catalog and Back Cover. That's it. Are you saying that is against the EULA of Adobe for us to do that?
Now for the bookmark problem, what do you recommend I do then? When I merge all three of those PDF files in Acrobat Standard manually it works perfect. All I'm trying to do is automate that process once every night. I know how to automate with Acrobat, I just can't figure out how to fix the bookmark problem? -

Merging multiple pdf files not available
I want to merge multiple PDF files into one PDF file. I used to be able to do it under file>create pdf, but ever since my computer was re-built, that option is no longer under the file tab. Was this something extra that you had to pay for, or do I have to do something to get this add in. Thank you in advance
Yeah you need one of the acrobat family. To be specific, Acrobat Standard, Acrobat 9 Pro or Acrobat Extended
They have 30 day trial on adobe.com. But check first the system requirements so that it won't mess up your computer. -
Merge two PDF files into one with Adobe Reader
Does anyone know how to merge two PDF files into one with Adobe Reader. Is it even possible?
ThanksIf you've got a Mac and OSX you can do this in Preview. Make sure you can see the sidebar with the first PDF opened, and then drag the second PDF to the bottom of the last page in the sidebar. Also you can reduce the size of your saved file by selecting (or making) a Quartz filter to 'reduce file size'
